A lie leads to a dead body right on the doorstep of Special Agent Ricki James in her latest case of deceit, betrayal, and murder.
Before closing her last case, Special Agent Ricki James almost became a victim herself, so it’s a relief to get home with the only daunting task facing her is planning her wedding to Police Chief Clayton Thomas. But that all changes in the blink of an eye when a friend is murdered fifty feet from where she is sitting. And the killer manages to slip away without leaving a single eyewitness behind.
As Ricki and her team search for answers through a carefully constructed web of lies, they uncover a seven-year-old robbery that left four people dead, was never solved, and leads right back to their hometown. Now Ricki is hunting a killer, who is hiding among the people she calls friends, and is determined to keep the truth buried along with anyone who tries to bring his charade, and the reason for it, to an end.
I have read all 12 books from 1 to 12 in one week. The characters were believable as well as entertaining. I especially liked how the main characters were always there for each other. They truly reacted and treated each other as family. Each and every story was different and never did I get bored. You will really enjoy this series.
Wow! This is an amazing thriller with twists, turns and speeding from one event to another. Having read all the books in this series, I feel almost a letdown that it is done, or is it? After the rush to catch the killer of one of their own, the beating of one of my favorites, and the tracking to catch a thief, the end is near. With a hug to Mom, a walk down the aisle to her future and the presence of all those Ricki loved, I cried. How the heck can one explain this storyline as a thriller and then cry at a wedding? It's a mystery to me! Excellent writing by this author.
An excellent series with strong characters that keep you invested in the storyline throughout the 12 books. Chasing lies delves into personal relationships in the bay and how we can’t always believe what people show of themselves or what we hear and even trained investigators can be fooled. If this is the end of the series I’m extremely sad, there is so much more I want to read about anchorman, Ricki and clay.
Wonderful! What an exciting advrnture! B this wonderful series should be read in order, as it continues with same main characters in each book and a continuing time line! Many stories culminate in the solution of a problem held over from a previous story. Each book solves the problem developed in it! Enjoy a terrific adventure!
Hard to put the series down. I had to completely read all 12 books connntinusly, every one better than the last. Going to try to catch up on other books I have going than will start on the newest series yoh have out. Glad it ended with Clay and Rickie getting married. Made a good end.
Can I give it more? Five Stars just doesn't seem like enough!!
I think this was probably the best developed of the Ricki James books I've read. It had more humor, more intrigue, more "false clues" than I remember. I can hardly wait to read 'what comes next' !!
And with the best characters! I’ve asked myself every time I finish one of her books, “Why do I like this series sooo much? The answer is the CHARACTERS. I don’t know of any others as lovable and strange as these. Bravo!
I read all 12 books in this series in one fell swoop.... and I couldn't be happier. I take that back. There aren't anymore to get caught up in. If you like mysteries, you'll love these characters. Chandler is a fantastic author!
I have really enjoyed reading the Ricky James series. It's exciting and very cleanly written. I recommend these books to all that enjoy a great mystery without all the moral filth.
A Ricki James murder mystery is always a treat. Ricki is such a badass and love that her wish finally comes true. Hopefully this is not the end of her adventures.
I stalled on finishing this one because I knew I was going to be leaving my Bay family behind. I grew attached to these people over the past 12 books and I'm sad to be moving on from them 😕
