They, together with four of The Chosen – three intelligent housecats and one stalwart gargoyle – stand against the impending doom.
The Six Realms strive to impose their will upon the Prime – controlling all life and things on Earth. The Arbiter is the only one who can stop them.
The trouble is, even though Rowan has assumed the Office of Arbiter, and has six Judicials to assist him, they face a triad of Realms that have banded together. This force has more than just an advantage in numbers – they possess a bit of The Spark, that special essence from the Big Bang. With it, their mystic power is unstoppable.
Worse, Fate has predicted that Rowan must sacrifice one of his friends.
Will it be Holly, the young woman he’s known since first-grade, the one who is closer to him than his own sisters are?
Or will it be Asher, someone Rowan has also known since childhood – and after a dream-come-true moment shared between them, is now his boyfriend?
Or is there another way? All will be determined in this, the Final Arbitration.
I loved book 1 and book 2 was just as enjoyable. I adore the characters, especially the cats, and Rowan is very relatable and likeable. The world building is brilliant and imaginative. The action scenes are intense and so well developed, they really keep you moving. Mingled into it all is just the right amount of suspense: I didn't want to put the book down because I had to make sure everyone survived each and every fight!! There is humor, friendship, heartbreak, love and lots of adventure! I highly recommend this series and I can't wait for more!
Even though I really enjoyed the first book in this series, "The Last Arbiter", author Halden has outdone himself with this second installment!
My favorite cats of The Chosen are back and even more fun than before, the trio of college students, Rowan, Holly and Asher, face bigger dangers and challenges, and the ending was both not what I expected and amazing!
This book and this series are a must read for anyone who enjoys the epic portal fantasy genre, and gets as well, some comedy and romance as well!
Reading this book was like riding a rollercoaster - thrilling and scarey with multiple twists and turns. A cast of characters both humans and other worldly gave this book lots of depth. Captivating to the end, this book was full of surprises. If you like dragons, gargoyles, cats and adventurous humans on a seemingly impossible quest then you will LOVE this book.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but the second book is another example of the second being better than the first. The action, imaginative premise and locations, and plot twists kept me reading to the end. If you have any love of fantasy, you want this series.
