Have a Safe Shift

Rate this book
Have A Safe Shift is a zine written by an Amazon employee tormented by the tedious demands of the job to the brink of insanity. Spurred on by the inaccurate, sensationalist reports from the bandwagon-hopping mainstream media, this zine provides a candid, if not a little paranoid, account of what it's really like to work in an Amazon warehouse.

I'm a sucker for workplace studies. Have a Safe Shift is entertainingly written and legitimately interesting. Amazon is such a weird behemoth, even by modern day capitalist standards. From reading about the way the algorithm figures out shift patterns, to the way they micromanage the route each worker takes, to the small acts of subversion the algorithm and its managers can't quite stamp out, this was a really enjoyable read, written in great prose.
