Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Fire, Ares was banished from his home by his father, Hades, two centuries ago and given a new duty and purpose—to keep our world and his from colliding in a calamity foreseen by the Moirai.

Together with his six brothers, he fights to defend the gates to the Underworld from daemons bent on breaching them and gaining entrance to that forbidden land, striving to protect his home from their dark influence. Caged by the manifestation of his power, held apart from those he loves by his own fire and starved of physical contact, Ares lives a cold existence driven by duty and the desire to return to his world.

Until his world collides with a daemon who steals his power and a mortal female who shatters the ice around his heart and awakens the true fire within him—a soul-stirring passion both dangerous and seductive.

Megan has wandered far from her home, driven from everyone she loves by the devastating realisation that she is different to them all. Unsure who to trust in the world, she keeps to herself, until a fateful stormy night brings a temptingly handsome warrior crashing into her life and into her heart—a warrior who seems to hold powers more frightening and marvellous than her own.

When the New York gate comes under threat, and Ares is put to the test, will he choose his duty and regain the power he needs in order to save his world or will he choose the desires of his heart and sacrifice his fire so he can be with the woman becoming his whole world?

Gods and Daemons!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁☺️
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The Heroes: Ares - he had been banished from the underworld by his father Hades. He and his brothers protected the world from daemons. They went after any daemons that escaped from the gate to the underworld. Ares was located in New York and guarded the gate there. Though more daemons had been around lately and one even escaped from him, which was something that never happened before.

The heroine: Megan - she was on the way from the bus stop to her apartment in a violent storm after taking off early from her job at the packing warehouse. She got a sense that someone was watching her when suddenly she saw two men fighting in an alley. It looked like they were moving faster than humanly possible.

The Story: Ares thought the daemon that escaped him was the harbinger of an event that oracles had foreseen thousands of years ago. He knew the battle to keep his world and the mortal world from colliding was soon to begin. War was on the horizon and it was his duty to win. Ares had the power to manipulate his surroundings, the power to teleport, and the power of fire.

Megan watched the two men fight and realized that they both had some sort of supernatural powers, and the large dark haired man didn’t have any ill intent for her like the smaller man. When the smaller man was about to kill the larger man with a fireball, Megan couldn’t let that happen and she shot the smaller man twice. Megan had the power of healing and used it on the larger man. The daemon had stolen Ares power.

This was a different story than I expected. Ares at first wanted to get his power back, but before long we find that his power of fire, flowed very close to his skin and he couldn’t touch anyone without the fear of burning them with his power. So being without his power for the first time was something he had always wanted. It was a good dilemma, especially since he had an overwhelming attraction to Megan.

I liked the characters and the world building was great. There were also some good supporting characters, including all of Ares’ brothers, though I wish we would have gotten a bit more personality out of them. I liked the fact that Megan had her own power but always felt alone and finding others with powers like her, was something that she had always wanted.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration, and was narrated by Kevin Foley. Kevin is a good reader, but I wouldn’t call him a voice actor like some narrators. I like dual or duet narration a lot more than solo, and I like it when the narrator has a voice that matches the character. Kevin has a nice deep voice, but sounds older than I like for a Hero.

Desire. Longing. Anguish. Action.

Ares is book one in a brand new series the Guardians of Hades by Felicity Heaton. Oh my, what a tale Ms. Heaton has constructed. This was an exceptional start.

We are treated to a story full of Greek Mythology that has been splendidly done. The author has added in some extraordinary new twists for the reader to explore.

In this story we focus on Ares. I enjoyed how the author portrayed him. He fights a never ending battle; along with his brothers to protect humans. His duty and his desire war inside him. I love the battle inside; between duty and heart. It was beautiful done.

Megan well she is not quite human. She knows she is different, but doesn’t know why. One decision will change her life and enlighten her. It was fascinating to learn about her, who she is, and more.

Ares and Megan are good together. I like how they have this attraction, but don’t act on it until quite later in the book.

The only thing that bothered me (probably only me) was the lack of showering/clean clothes for Megan. I think it was like two maybe three days. I have this thing about hygiene and well she had a bathroom with a shower their and didn't use it.

We are also introduced to the brothers, each are unique in their own way. They are the protectors/Guardians of different gates in different places. The Guardians / brothers are all deliciously intriguing and I can’t wait to read each and everyone of their stories. It’s a surprise on who their family is and one you will enjoy learning about.

Their is no shortage of surprises and reveals, but their is much more to come. The battle scenes are vivid and the action is non-stop on the go. A war is coming and only the immortal Guardians can save us and their world.

If you enjoy Mythology, demons, battles between one’s duty and heart, and the lengths we go through for siblings and those we love, then you will adore this tale. I throughly loved the new twist on Greek Mythology, the Guardians, the plot, and romance. I’m enthusiastic to see where things go from here.

Oh my god I loved this book!!!!! The author has such a great imagination. If anyone loves paranormal books with mate-like plot lines you will love this book. Hero is completely devoted to the h from the moment he sees her. Can not wait to read the rest of the brothers books and we even get to meet Persephone and Hades! Would love it if the author writes a book on them.
The only problem I had with this book is that it has a lot of descriptions and drawn out explanations of emotions and the other minor characters. Its very wordy and kind of overshadows the dialogue but I still loved it.

Side Note; This is my 1,000 book that I've read!

MOMMYY the stars won't go any lower!!
Oh gods from above and the shady-utterly-stupendous-and-stupidly-fucking-annoying-gods from this book. Spare me.. please.. of this torture.
I do not know how these authors make it to the publishing houses and produce such garbage. Even bigger surprise is people are reading this and giving it 5 star reviews..

To each their own.. I am just speechless. The plot has 0 substance and more holes in it than than Swiss Cheese..

Speaking of cheese, the only chemistry between the MC's was laughable. Please someone sane out there explain this crap to me. As for character development..

To top it off the author wants us to continue reading more of this series!?!?

Will I provide more evidence or specific dialogues that fucked me over? NOOO
I will actually dedicate another gif for the time wasted on this crap..

Read at your own risk!

Ares by Felicity Heaton is the first book in the Guardian of Hades series. It centres on Ares, one of the seven sons of Hades. Hades banished each of his sons to the mortal world, giving them the responsibility of guarding the gates of the Underworld from the daemons determined to breach it. Ares was responsible for the New York gate. They also had a power unique to them, one that seemed like a curse. Ares wielded fire, which prevented him from having physical contact with those he loved. As a result, he lived a lonely life driven by duty to protect the underworld.

Megan, while on her way home from work, found herself caught in the middle of a fight between Ares and one of these daemons. From that moment her life would go through unexpected changes. I am still not sure if she is a mere mortal. The story portrayed her as such, but her ability to heal and withstand Ares’s fire revealed that there was more to her than it led the reader to believe.

I have been wanting to read this book since its release, but never had the chance to do so until now. I went into the story with high expectations, having been a fan of the author’s Eternal Mates series. Unfortunately, it did not deliver as I had expected. Not that it was a terrible story, but it fell far from what I have come to expect from the author.

What I Liked

World Building
I enjoyed my journey into the world the author created and I also loved her twist on Greek mythology. She created a world that was a mix of fantasy and reality. I found the fight scenes exciting and intense.

Main Characters
Heroine
Meagan’s selflessness and bravery shined throughout the story.
Hero
Ares, the son of Hades and nephew to the Greek god of war who never wavered in his dedication to his duty.

.
Secondary Characters
The story provided snippets about the other brothers whetting the reader’s desire for their stories.

The Ending
There were no cliff-hangers, however the ending hinted at a war in the making.

What I didn’t Like
Megan’s immediate acceptance of Ares and everyone and everything associated with him seemed unrealistic. There were no signs of trepidation, which one would have expected in such a situation. It was also odd that she gave up the life and job she had prior to meeting Ares but no mention was made as relates to these areas for the remainder of the story.

Romance
The chemistry between the key characters was non-existent, which made their whole connection seem forced.

Narration
I listened to the audio version, which proved to be a terrible decision. The narrator’s voice was monotonous. It was as if he was reading an academic book and not a novel filled with intense action and romantic scenes.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Although this installment didn’t live up to my expectations I intend to continue the series. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

4 "Fire God & His Healer" Stars.

In the debut of a brand new series that reminds me of a grown-up version of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson Series, Felicity Heaton sets up an urban fantasy world on the verge of war. The heroes in this series are all brothers, sons of Hades and Persephone, and gods in their own right. Each has been banished by Hades from the underworld and tasked with guarding the gates from the mortal world to the underworld to ensure that only gods, demigods and others selected by Hades can enter the underworld and that the dead can never leave it. However, the daemons that have been excluded from the underworld are getting restless, and the worlds seem to be coming to a revolutionary time.

The main hero in this story is Ares. Ares has the power of fire among other powers. Although Ares has his six brothers (each has a different main power), he has led a pretty solitary life for several centuries due to the fact that his power makes him unable to touch anyone (including many of his brothers) without burning them. This also means he has been unable to have a relationship with a woman, even a goddess in that long.

During a normal patrol, Ares is attacked by a daemon, and a woman named Megan comes to his aid. She instantly garners Ares' brothers suspicions, when Ares awakes without his fire power and mysteriously healed by this woman who defies convention (as she appears not to be a demigod or other god who would have great power). As the crew of brothers set towards the goal of finding the daemon that stole Ares' powers to get them restored, Ares must also struggle between his personal desires for Megan and his obligations to his father to protect the underworld from unwelcome intruders. If he regains his fire power, he will never be able to touch Megan again. Can there possibly be a HEA under the circumstances?

I enjoyed getting to learn about this mythical world which is based on Greek mythology. The personal struggles, as well as, world altering circumstances looming in the background led to a sense of heightened suspense as to which direction this story would turn. I also liked that we get a glimpse at some of the struggles of the other brothers, including Valen, the hero of the next book (planned to be released around Valentine's Day 2017).

I can't wait to see how Valen resolves his perceived inability to love as well as to see how these gods continue to protect both the underworld and the mortal one in future books.

The only reason I finished this book was because I paid $5 for it. I felt that things weren't clearly explained. I'm still not sure what the hell a carrier is or what this book's definition of a hellspawn is. It was like we were just given names to call things.

I have no idea how any relationship happened between Ares and Megan. He saw her in an alley being followed, saved her, we heard about how she had to protect him 100 times and about how he was her protector another 100 times. Then boom. They love each other. She was such a weak female character it was painful to read about her. She was cowering or huddling or hiding. Those were her actions for 99% of the book. Useless.

Nothing in this book made me care about any of the characters at all. It was also just confusing to have a character in a Greek gods story named Ares who is both a god but not the actual Ares, especially for someone who knows her mythology. Fun fact: Hades and Persephone never had sons. I can go with artistic interpretation, but only if it was well executed, and it was not.

I have no idea why this book is rated so high. Despite my best efforts and after skipping loads of passages, I had to DNF. It's basically the script for very bad porn. Normally, I enjoy fantasy romance a lot, even if the storyline is not perfect, but this was just too much (or maybe I should say too little).

Most of the action takes place in the H's apartment, with a few excursions into Central Park. I mean, come on, can it get any more boring than that? And don't get me started on the writing. Why in the world do we need to go through every single thought that goes through their minds? As far as I am concerned, dialog is fun. Page after page of internal musings and struggles are not.

Lord of Fire, Ares is protector of New York and the son to Hades and Persephone. He takes pride in his job and when he is hunting a daemon he inadvertently loses his power while protecting a young woman.

Megan has always had the power to heal and when she sees a man protecting her she steps in when he is injured. Little does she know that Ares will want her by his side and nowhere else. However a man like Ares cannot be with others, his touch would cause her body to erupt in flames. The only reason it is not is he lost his power, now he decides if he wants his power back or keep Megan. Is it possible that he can have oth?

This was fantastic. The six brothers are fascinating and I am eager to see where this story leads. Megan is unsure of what to do and Ares is pure alpha male. I loved the added details to this story, had a hint of humor in the way the brothers interact. Excellent read.

Seven brothers, Princes of the Underworld and children of Hades and Persephone who have been tasked with guarding the gates between our world the theirs - meet the Guardians of Hades. In Felicity Heaton's brand new paranormal romance series you'll get to know all these brothers and watch them fight to protect our world from a disaster that was prophesied by the Moirai.

Ares is able to control the element of fire, it makes him a powerful warrior but it comes with a very dangerous side effect. He runs at a much higher than average temperature which makes it impossible for people, even most of his brothers, to touch him and if he loses control he sets fire to anything around him. For the two centuries he has been on earth protecting the gateways his powers have isolated him from the people around him, just imagine a life where you can't even shake people's hands without giving them third degree burns. He has closed himself off from everyone apart from his brothers and just wants to do his duty by protecting the gates and fighting against the daemons who want to fulfil the Moirai's prophecy.

The last thing Megan expected to happen when she takes a shortcut home one night is to get caught in the middle of a battle between two superhuman warriors. She doesn't get a chance to run for safety and when one of the warriors is injured while protecting her she has to do what she can to heal him. Megan has been alone for a long time thanks to a secret ability she has been hiding from everyone and after seeing Ares fight she thinks he might be the only person who can answer her questions about where her power came from.

Drawn together by a common enemy Ares and Megan must work together to try and figure out what the daemon has planned for them. Ares' powers have been stolen and for the first time in centuries he is able to touch and be touched but unless he can get his powers back he can't protect the gateway and the world as we know it could be destroyed.

This is a fabulous start to a new series and I can't wait to get my hands on the next instalment. Felicity Heaton always creates such brilliant heroes and she's done it again with Ares and his brothers! The seven men each have different abilities and personality quirks and I'm looking forward to getting to know them all better. I'm struggling to decide who I like best which is great as I think I'm going to enjoy all of their stories. The romance between Ares and Megan is hot and steamy in all the best ways and I enjoyed seeing Megan learn to adapt to his world. I did think their relationship got serious a little too quickly but I was easily able to ignore that because I was enjoying the characters and the rest of the story so much. This series has definitely left me wanting more and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Valen's book next year.

Everything a paranormal romance should be!

This is book 1 of a new series and I can tell you I'm already hooked.

This book features Ares, his a Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Fire, and he is hot!

Ares has a job that is to protect the gate between our world and the underworld, this keeps him quite busy as there is always activity, on top of that he has to send daemons back to the underworld. Ares comes across a daemon in an alley where a woman is taking a shortcut and this is where things get a little messy.

Megan wanted to get home quickly so took a short cut, not expecting to be caught in the middle of a dangerous battle, especially an 'other world like' battle. She soon realises that one of them is on her side, guess who, Ares of course and when he gets injured she has to help him and this is just the beginning of a life-altering event. Megan is not quite normal herself and is alone in the world, she may be small but she has some balls too.

Megan and Ares are good together, Megan is tough but has been alone a while so doesn't put up a fight when she's told she has to stay at Ares apartment. Through the story you do find she gets tougher and Ares softens slightly, a perfect power exchange

This being the first book introduces us to future main characthers, all of Ares brothers - there's a few and they are all so different and will face the own love hurdles in the future I am sure, but for now they only care about duty not their brother 'getting lucky' for a night and they make there feeling very clear.

I really enjoyed how they didn't get physical until quite late in the book, some mutual admiration was about but they resisted well BUT it was good when they made it to bed.

The wasn't too much world building needed, as earth realm is much the same just daemons about, we learnt a little of the underworld and I like the sound of the palace.

I found | had to finish this book in one day, totally pulled me in and left me feeling content at the end. It also left me wanting to know who will fall next.

If you like PNR you will love this book.

Ooh. A new series. I always enjoy getting to know new characters and all their quirks. Let's just say the brothers look like they're going to be a hoot. All of them. From first to last. (But maybe, possibly Esher most of all. THAT DUDE HAS A FEW UNRESOLVED ISSUES. Or something. Whatever it is that has him all riled up will be innnnnnteresting. I can feel it.)

But this is Ares story and we should really take a look at him instead of endlessly wondering what it is that turned Esher into a mortal-hating god.

So, Ares. He's got his own set of issues to deal with. Namely, that fire-thing. Not being able to touch anybody for a couple of centuries because you're afraid you might burn them up on contact is a rough way to live. Technically, he can touch a few of his brothers, but still. Centuries, man. That's a lot of alone time.

Megan also had a few things she's dealing with. Her ability sets her apart from others and she's spent the last several years alone. Which sucks, but not quite as much as those several centuries for Ares. On the other hand, Ares had his family. So, you know, trade-off.

As I said, I'm excited about a new series and those brothers seem like they're going to be a handful!

This series is gonna be PHENOMENAL!!!

This book has it all; fire, mythology, an alpha male, action, mystery, magic, emotion. It reinforced, yet again, why Felicity is one of my favorite authors, and I know that any book of hers will be nothing short of intriguing and intense.

The stage is set for the rest of the series, and I'm beyond eager to see how it progresses with each brother, and to get more "pieces of the puzzle" to solve what is going to happen to the Underworld.

This turns into sort of a "fated mates" story, and the love between Ares and Megan is perfect. I loved both of them, and I was so happy with the ending!

I can't wait to get started on Valen's book next!!!!

Very insta. I don't understand how some authors think that the first thing that pops into a woman's head when in danger for some supernatural reason is, "Damn, he's hot. I want to hit that." instead of "Holy crap, that man just shot fire from his hands! Abort! Run!"

In this brand new series from author Felicity Heaton she brings us seven Gods, the children of Hades and Persephone and they are the Guardians of Hades. Each brother lives in a different place and he is responsible for guarding a gate that can take others to Hades.

Knowing she is different but not knowing why Megan has stayed on the move since she discovered just how different she is from every other person she has ever meet. Everything she didn’t know changes late one rainy night on a walk home from work. Her decision to take a short cut nearly ends her life but it enlightens her that there are others out in the world that are different, perhaps different life her.

Central Park, New York city is protected by Ares, Lord of Fire. He has been concerned about the recent gate activity. It seems to him that it is growing at an alarming rate. What he sees of the otherworld is even more concerning. Knowing his duty to his father is of the utmost importance he has set aside many things. One of the things Ares has not pursued in the real world is love. His fire has forced some interesting home décor on him as well as kept him a loner.

Readers are briefly introduced to the other brothers. Each of them definitely has a very different story to tell. I’m looking forward to learning more about these men and the world (Underworld, real world, and otherworld) they protect from the daemon, wraith, and what can only be a war from unknown forces. Yeah, this Diva is hooked on a new series and impatiently waiting for the next book.

He was banished from his home by his father and given a new duty and purpose. Together with his six brothers, Ares, Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Fire keep the daemons from gaining entrance to the Underworld and keeping the worlds from colliding. Driven from everyone she loves by the devastating realization that she is different to them all, Megan has wandered far from her home. Not knowing who to trust, she keeps to herself.

This paranormal romance is an energetic read that dares readers to keep up. The characters are strong and vivid with a sizzling chemistry that draws readers to them while the romance is sweet and passionate. The relationship, however, does have a fiery obstacle to be overcome which makes them getting together seem quite impossible no matter how magnetic their attraction which keeps this romance full of suspense and strong emotions.

The plot is fast paced with non-stop excitement that keeps readers transfixed to the pages as surprising twists keeps the characters on their toes. Danger, deadly, energetic & spectacular battles keeps the adrenaline pumping while interfering family adds to the suspense as well. Creative and imaginative story elements comet together mixing Greek mythology and the apocalypse and gifts readers with a fascinating world of Gods and the ones they fall in love while they defend the world in an adventurous and enticing read.

Wowzer! An action-packed sexy page-turner! Yummy warrior gods and sassy strong women! I couldn't get enough of this book; taking place in the modern world Hades' son fight to protect the world and the Underworld against daemons.
From the first page I was sucked right in. I highly recommend this paranormal romance. It's definitely right up there with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters and Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld. Highly recommended!

I've been really looking forward to this and I've got to say it didn't disappoint.

I'm a big fan of paranormal and fantasy books but I've got to say a lot of them are a bit samey and, putting it brutally, a bit meh. They don't inspire my imagination. Not so with Felicity Heaton's books. Hers are packed with new original ideas and worlds and great characters. I can honestly say that I have loved everything I've read by her.

This story is the first in a brand new series. It follows Ares. He and his brothers are sons of the god of the underworld Hades. They've been sent to the mortal realm to protect the gates to the underworld. Basically they are Hades' bouncers, lol. There to stop anything unsavoury from entering the underworld. One night Ares encounters a particularly powerful daemon but this also pushes him into the path of our heroine, mortal Megan.

There's was a great book to read. The story was original and a cool twist on some ancient mythology. There was action aplenty but plenty of emotional romance as well. The story gripped me straight away and I was instantly invested in the characters. They were both strong but vulnerable in their own ways and were great to read.

I liked the side characters as well and loved reading about Ares' brothers. I'm pretty sure they'll have plenty more to say in future books.

All in all this was a really excellent start to what looks to be an exciting and different new series. This can be read as a standalone and nothing else needs to be read before. I enjoyed every minute of this and am really looking forward to the next story.

Since Megan discovered her special power, she has moved around a lot. Never allowing anyone close, in case they find out. On the way home in the middle of a thunderstorm, she takes a shortcut to avoid a dangerous looking man. That turns out to be the worst, or maybe the best, decision of her life.
Ares is hunting daemons in his city, New York, when the evil smell of the one he is after reaches him. Ares is one of the Guardians of Hades. His primary power is fire. The Guardians are brothers, all Gods and they control the gates to the Underworld, and make sure no daemons get past them.
This is the first book in a new series, and I'm already addicted. The brothers are wonderful characters, all with very different personalities. They have a difficult relationship with their father, Hades, who keeps a careful watch over what they do and say. Penance will be paid for breaking his rules.
If you have read any from this author before you will know she writes battles that make you want to hide behind the sofa. All those superpowers flying around. Not to mention the HOT men fighting to protect the innocents. The story will drag you in from the first page and the sex scenes will melt your kindles. Mine is still steaming. Nice full length book that gives you plenty to enjoy. I loved it.

I love a good Gods book and this one gives us a unique twist on one of the hottest gods. Ares of course was sent to earth to save the world but what happens is far from him saving anything he is the one being saved by whom? Well a mere human? or is she?

Megan is unique to say the least she should be afraid of what she sees but she is not to a point. She is taken by Ares others brothers and brought to the place he lives and it is demanded that she heal him. But what happens is something so much more.

I would say if you love the Gods and twists then this is one book you want to grab. I can't wait to see which brother is next. Felicity Heaton

The book is CRAP. There was no chemistry between characters, i don't understand how Megan and Ares ended up in the ILOVEYOU part of their relationship, like really come on now the two were in an apartment for what a week *eye roll* but somehow fell in to this deep love lmao.
The overall story was boring, too much was going on that didn't necessarily add to the story or the world the author wanted to create , i still don't know what a carrier is or a hell spawn.
Why did we see Valen's interactions outside of when he was with Ares it did not add to the story it could've been left for his book
Oh and his name is Ares but he is not the real one his father just named him after another god which he hates by the way stupse so stupid.
I will not be reading anything else in the series or anything more by the author if this is what i will be getting for my damn money.

"Ares is the God of War" Not "The Prince of the Underworld" and his Father is Zeus and the only children Hades ever had were Macaria, Melinoe and they are both female!

It's okay if you don't know your ancient Greek gods but I do and it's just confusing really.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 26, 2016

Megan has wandered far from her home, driven from everyone she loves by the devastating realization that she is different to them all. Unsure who to trust in the world, she keeps to herself, until a fateful stormy night brings a temptingly handsome warrior crashing into her life and into her heart—a warrior who seems to hold powers more frightening and marvelous than her own.

When the New York gate comes under threat, and Ares is put to the test, will he choose his duty and regain the power he needs in order to save his world or will he choose the desires of his heart and sacrifice his fire so he can be with the woman becoming his whole world?

REVIEW: 4.5 stars--ARES is the first installment in Felicity Heaton’s adult GUARDIANS OF HADES paranormal, romance series based in mythology, focusing on seven brothers- the sons of Hades and Persephone -sent to earth to guard the gates to the Underworld. This is Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Fire Ares, and Megan’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives ARES focuses on the brothers’ battle to protect the Gates to the Underworld. With the recent influx of ‘daemons’ in searching for the elusive Gates Ares and his brothers have had to step up their nightly patrol but Ares finds himself out maneuvered in a battle where he will have his powers stolen by a daemon of unknown origin. Enter Megan, a human with some powers of her own, who witnesses the struggle of the man who will steal her heart. What ensues is the building relationship between Ares and Megan, and Ares battle between recovering his powers and the love of a woman that calls to his heart.

The relationship between Ares and Megan is one of immediate attraction. Ares believes Megan is his mate, and with the loss of his powers he is helpless against the feelings and emotional fall out of their physical relationship.

We are introduced to Ares brothers, each with their own power and abilities but brothers who know that once Ares recovers his powers Megan may be destroyed by the man that she loves.

ARES is a sexy and decadent story of ‘forbidden’ love told through character introspection, reflection and plenty of internal dialogue. Felicity Heaton invites the reader into a passionate tale about one man’s search for what he lost, and the love of a woman who offers everything and more. The premise is enchanting: the characters are colorful and animated; the romance is emotional. There is plenty of exciting and lively action as the brothers battle for their lives.

I don't understand how this book almost has a 4 star rating. It makes no sense to me! It was absolute garbage! This novel says it's 233 pages long but that is a lie! 1 Kindle page can actually last 28 or more Kindle pages. How does that even work? This sorry excuse for a book is more like 500 pages long! A 500 page long slog through awfulness.

The main reason it was so bad is because nothing really happened! Out of all those pages only about 25-30 had story progression which really just amounted to drawn out fighting scenes. Everything else was just ridiculous romance filler. And by that I mean gratuitous amounts of eyeball humpin! You could not go a single stinking page without the two MC's eye boinking.

Lip biting, male posturing, and raging were rampant in this story. The sex scenes were also ridiculous! Not sexy at all. Not to mention that Ares is nuts! He wants to kill people for looking at Megan. Wtf? I believe the proper term for him is psychotic. But the heroine thinks such terrible possessiveness is alluring. I do not understand!

This reads like a glorified fanficiton that made it to print. It's juvenile and a waste of time. The only reason I finished it was because I am doing a reading challenge were I had to read something that had Greek gods in it. If it weren't for the challenge this would have been a DNF.

Do not waste your time on this book. Speaking of fanficiton you would probably find better ones than this for free! I paid $4.99 for this and it feels like I was jipped. What a waste of time and money. I am shunning this author and avoiding her books like the plague. Never again!

Holy mother of god!!! I just finished this book and I am stunned once again by Felicity's writing. I have to say this is my new favorite of hers.

Ares is filled with drama, sex, action, and of course a love story. You have characters, you can connect to on a personal level. They are feisty and stand their ground! I could just picture what was going on in my mind!

The story begins with a young women named Megan. She has powers she can't explain... and in one night everything changes.

Ares, has the unique power of fire. Being one of the Guardians he must protect the Underworld. No Daemons shall pass through the gates.

The romance was delicious.
Sexy, hot, one that will make you want to melt in a pool of ice!

A huge page turner, you don't want to miss this spectacular read. A great start to the series, and I cant wait for the next one.

I read it all the way through, which is huge since I don’t bother with books anymore I’m not interested in. As it turned out, I was interested in the world, not the romance. I wanted to find out more about the sons of Hades and how the Universe was structured. The romance was flat. The characters were two dimensional. Shocking repetition of phrases like “she was his forever” and not much detail to make the characters real such as: “She looked down and her shoelaces were untied. Again.”

Also, I don’t find possessiveness attractive. Ug.

That being said, I am considering reading more in the series just because I am curious to learn more about the world. But... then again, maybe not. I kept wishing the author would start writing fantasy fiction and skip the romance. Those parts were great.
