One failed marriage. A couple from opposite ends of the globe. Should they risk another chance at love?
Cara is nervous about revisiting Australia, but she has agreed to take her small son to meet his father – her ex-husband.
It’s been five years since Cara last saw Luke. He’s as attractive as ever, her emotions are in turmoil and their reunion brings back so many memories – some incredibly happy, others hopelessly complicated.
But their little boy adores his father’s outback property, and now that Luke has his family again, he longs to keep them together.
The time has come for a massive decision. Should this girl from Manhattan give her marriage a second chance?
Return to Warrapinya is the second book in Barbara Hannay’s Heads or Hearts series. Don’t miss this deeply emotional novel, winner of the coveted Romance Writers of America’s RITA award for Best Traditional Romance.
Multi award winning author, Barbara Hannay, is a city bred girl with a yen for country life. Most of her 50 plus books are set in rural and outback Australia and they've been enjoyed by readers around the world.
Barbara has been nominated five times for Romance Writers of America's RITA Award which she won in 2007 and she has twice won Australia's Romantic Book of the Year award.
In her own version of life imitating art, Barbara and her husband currently live on a misty hillside in beautiful Far North Queensland where they keep heritage pigs, hens, ducks, turkeys and an untidy but productive garden.
When Cara and her six year old son Joey arrived in Sydney from Manhattan, she was a bundle of nerves. It was five years since she'd seen Luke, her now ex-husband, and the decision to bring Joey to meet and get to know his father was not an easy one. But Cara knew it had to be done. The plan was Luke meeting them at the airport and spending a couple of days in Sydney with Cara, before he and Joey flew to the vast outback property of Warrapinya in Queensland, where Joey would stay for two months while Cara did some business and had a holiday herself.
But as they say; the best laid plans... Cara was missing Joey, and he was having a wonderful time. Loved his dad, loved Warrapinya, loved his cousins who were around the same age as him. When Cara received a phone call from Warrapinya, her heart dropped. What had happened? Was Joey alright?
Return to Warrapinya is the 2nd in Aussie author Barbara Hannay's Heads or Hearts series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't read #1 yet, and will rectify that soon, but was told they can be read as standalone stories. All three main characters are well written, though I wouldn't expect anything less from Ms Hannay. Warrapinya sounds like a really prosperous working station, and I could see why Joey was having so much fun! A delightful read, Return to Warrapinya is one I recommend highly.
With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a beautiful romance written in true Barbara Hannay style, filled with emotion and so much love, they were bought together by destiny when they first met in Times Square New York, a whirlwind romance, a marriage and a move across the world to the Australian outback but life changed and Cara left Luke taking their son with her.
Now five years later Cara and six year old Joey have returned to Australia so as Joey can spend two months with his father getting to know him while she has a holiday, Cara is shocked that the spark that ran through her all those years ago is still there, Luke is still as handsome as ever and there are so many memories running through her, how on earth will this all pan out she is sure to find out soon when she rushes to Warrapinya.
Lots of things have changed for Luke in these years and he is thrilled to be getting to know his son and take him the Warrapinya and Joey is loving being here, when Cara arrives the tension is there but he still feels the same as he did all of those years ago, is there any chance that they can make a go of it a second time?
Can the city girl let go of Manhattan, can they both make compromises so as they can be together, so much has changed in five years and Joey plays a big part in that but neither can deny what they feel for each other for long. This really is a wonderful story, I loved it and it is one that I would highly recommend to any romance reader, it is sure to leave you smiling.
My thanks to the author for my digital copy to read and review.
This is such a delightful story. Spanning from New York to the Queensland Outback, it’s a second chance romance. Loved the setting and loved the characters of Luke and Cara. It has all the feels
Return to Warrapinya is book two in Barbara Hannay's The Heads or Hearts series. Five years ago, Cara left Australia with her baby son Joey and never thought she would return. However, she was wrong. Joey wanted to see his father, and Cara wanted to see a prospective client for her jewellery in Sydney. Cara contacted her ex-husband, Luke Manning, to see if he would look after Joey for two months at Warrapinya Station. Will Cara and Luke have a second chance of reuniting their romance? The readers of Return to Warrapinya will continue following Cara and Luke to discover what happens.
Return to Warrapinya is an enjoyable romance set in the Australian outback. It won the Romance Writers of America's RITA award for Best Traditional Romance. Barbara Hannay highlights new mothers' problems, especially in a rule environment. I engaged with this book from the first page and continued to the end. I love Barbara Hannay's writing style, how she portrays her characters and their interaction. Return to Warrapinya is well-written and researched. I like Barbara Hannay's description of the settings of Return to Warrapinya, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
A good feel story, about love can conquer all. A rushed marriage with a manhattan girl and an outback Aussie guy. Not working. Coming back together for their son to meet his Dad. Life taking twists and turns until both realise they are still in love and can work it out this time
