I had such high hopes for this book. I have been loving this series so far. I was just very underwhelmed. I get that Roberto is very quiet and all about finance, but I feel like we didn’t really get to know him. Of course he has his own kinks to work through. I get the CNC thing, but usually the other partner agrees to it before hand. It very much gave me the ick when he didn’t respect those boundaries.

Also the chemistry between Roberto and Mei-ling felt very non existent. Also the whole second part of the book was just reiterating what we already went through in part one, just from Mei-ling’s POV. There were just a few extra scenes that happened but it felt very repetitive and I ended up skipping over a majority of it.

I hope Valentino’s book has more action and story to it!

Meh

Most of this book seems to be restated information and seemed to be mostly about MeiLing. It gives me “I ran out of stuff to write about” vibes. When it gets to MeiLing it basically restates all the information you already read which I don’t care for. I don’t need to read anything twice in a book. This series started off great but at this point it’s run its course.

This was fun but not my favorite from the series.
I like Roberto, but I didn't fully like Mei like our other heroines.
The story was okay, and the romance was okay too, so... overall, i like it but didn't love it.
Now... I can't wait for Val and Nico's books!!

I really enjoyed knowing more about Roberto as throughout the other books I feel like Roberto and Valentino (which I'm now about to start) are the 2 characters that I knew little about apart from the basics. When reading Massimo's story and Lars' I kept wondering "wtf is Roberto doing in Hong Kong?!" Well I found out all about it here and bloody loved it. And that voice of his. Oh yes please 🔥

Now time to see what Valentino's up to. . .

Great Installment

Olivia Thorn’s latest “Roberto” is another amazing installment to this fast paced, crazy world that we just cannot get enough of. It’s a rollercoaster of a ride with all the essentials: awesome characters, heat factor, all the feels and just the best kind of chaos.

Not my favorite out of the series. Took 20 or so chapters to really get to the story.

This book could have been 60% shorter and cut out most of the awkward and weird sex between these two freaks (derogatory)

If you are reading for plot and how Roberto will secure his family’s financial future as war looms you will be disappointed since most of this book was Roberto losing his mind getting his dick wet and proving why he wasnt the family consigliere because he lacks focus and strategic mindset.

Mei-Ling was ok but I called the plot of her being a double agent/owned by the syndicate from the jump. Of COURSE the owner of the kink club that Mr.Han encouraged Roberto to go to was under his thumb and keeping tabs on him. He was so blind to a beautiful woman that MULTIPLE times he either chose not to pursue and follow up with Mr.Han or blatantly ignored Niccolo’s calls and texts, and it was SO frustrating because he is in Hong-Kong to give his family a chance at survival but he’s fucking some lady he just met while his uncle may be killing his family like HELLLOOOOOOOO lets get our priorities straight!!!

I really had higher hopes for this book because I was hoping to see how Roberto was Niccolo’s mirror and had a strategy for money and I was significantly disappointed. We also did not need all the flash back chapters w Mei-Ling they were not a value add outside of her history and how she got wrapped up with Mr.Han. They should have been interspaced throughout the novel to add depth of omnipotent narration where the reader knows theres a second shoe and is trying to figure out when Roberto will notice it will drop.

The end of the book was lack lustre and kinda flat for me, the swindling of 3x as much was cool but I wish we got to see how Roberto was going to multiply the money he stole to further secure his families future before just giving it back to Mr.Han, it just feels like we are actively creating global enemies and for what lol

The only reason im ranking this 3 stars is because I was reading it to my sister (excluding the sex scenes) and we had fun critiquing and adding sidebar commentary and it was a fun and playful experience for us.

Skimmed most of it as the plot was so ridiculous. The series has lost it’s way.

Oh boy. I’m sorry but this was terrible. The plot has gone completely off the rails now. It costs five million a month to run their whole estate including: bribing the police, the cost of the staff, the houses etc. okay. WHERE DO THEY GET THEIR MONEY FROM? They’ve got a couple of restaurants and? They don’t deal in illegal things anymore so where are they making any money from? Roberto in book two made a deal to open a clothes business with Bianca but that doesn’t seemed to have happened as she’s always sat at the house with Adriano. In fact I’m not sure what they all do everyday? They all seem to sit at the house doing nothing. The stupid plot with their uncle carries on and I don’t understand why they haven’t gone to the council about him and killed him. As they have the proof of what him and his son have been doing with Lucia’s grandmother!

One of their legal money making endeavours was a syndicate in Hong Kong that Roberto gave fifty million to, that won’t earn them anything for TWO YEARS. They’re not allowed to withdraw that money for two years either. When their uncle manages to drain all their bank accounts somehow as apparently he knows all the details from when he was their dad’s concierge, it leaves them with nothing. So many issues with this. They’ve got loads of different bank accounts and they didn’t think to change them all? How did the uncle manage to access them all? One maybe, but Roberto says that they have loads and he managed to steal them all! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈🙈 OH COME ON! So he goes to Hong Kong to get their money back but their uncle has already got to them. It’s ridiculous! How would the uncle know their business as he doesn’t talk to his nephews anymore?

While Roberto is plotting against the syndicate he meets Mae-Ling who owns a bdsm club, that seems to be nothing more than a brothel. They’re soon madly in love but Mae-Ljng has secrets that could destroy Roberto. Yeah as soon as he met her I knew what it was. As Roberto goes to war against the gangsters of the syndicate (😂😂😂) to get his money back, his uncle is running rings round them all. He’s an evil genius. He makes them look like little boys not the don of the Rossellini family!

There’s so many things missing from this book that it ruins it. Yet the author can take time to explain how to say Nice the country, and the history of Monaco. 😡😡😡😡 I don’t need all that explanation, I just want to know HOW THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY!!!!

It’s terrible sorry, and don’t get me started on Roberto thinking he can get away with threatening the syndicate.

I’m actually giving this 3.75 ⭐️ because while it was engaging, I was a little disappointed in the story. Roberto is the quiet Rossolini brother and the family money man.

This is the fifth book in the series and runs on the same timeline as Massimo and Lars book does. So we experience some of the same instances from the other books just told from Roberto’s POV. Since Roberto went to Hong Kong to retrieve some of their money, he’s not in the mafia war between his brothers and his Uncle in Italy.

The first 2 parts of the book are about Robert and Mei-Ling falling in love. Part 1 is Robert’s POV and Part 2 is Mei-Ling’s. While this is interesting in some places, in others it’s just redundant. It’s also why I rated the book 3.75 stars. Part 3 tells what happens after the betrayal.

Basically, their Uncle steals 20 million dollars from his nephews. Leaving them penniless to fight a war against him. So Roberto goes to Hong Kong to get $50 million back from an investment. While there he falls for Mei-Ling. Then there’s a double cross, a kidnapping and an escape.

Roberto and Mei-Ling arrive in Europe to meet up with the rest of the family. Who are there waiting on Massimo to recover. The story ends there. Now we wait for Book 6 which is Valentino’s story.

Good book - almost excellent

I liked this book - a lot. It has one issue I had a lot of problems with. 3 parts to the book - part 1 which was about 50% of the book was from Roberto's POV. Part 2 - which was Mei-Ling's POV (except for her part with being kidnapped as a teen and how she got into being a dominatrix) was a complete reenactment of part one in her POV. Then part 3 was back to Roberto's POV. I don't think that part 2 was even needed as part of the book but if the author was trying to do it from both points of view, then there should have been a part 4.

The whole storyline, other than the change of POVs, was excellent. I liked the main character's relationship together. It felt authentic even with only Roberto's POV. I can totally see these people as a couple and how they came to be.

I still liked the book but if you took out part 2 it would have been a 5 Star read.

much better than expected

Throughout the series Roberto was mentioned the least and along with niccolo I feel is one of the least shall we say “dynamic” of the brothers, but this book turned out to be quite action packed especially at the end- is it as good as massimo, lars, dario and adriano, no not quite but still worth a read and i cannot wait to find out how the brothers react if and when he manages to get back to italy which we don’t actually find out in this one (and I don’t want to spoil the end of this one either) turns oht riberto has just as big a pair of cherries as the rest of the family, in every sense of the word 😜

But what i am DESPERATE TO READ IS VALENTINO, IM ALREADY IN LOVE WITH HIM AND HIS CATRINA AND I JUST KNOW IM GONNA BE WEEPING MY WAY THROUGH CHRISTMAS- IF IT COMES OUT BY THEN

PLEASE RELEASE IT BEFORE I DIE….PLEASE THE WAIT IS KILLING ME 😘

Roberto

Both main characters are delightful in full on dark Mafia ways. I appreciated the inclusion of the sex club and the MFC's back story and personality. The MMC's controlling thing worked well with his character and the story line.

I was sad the MFC didn't get more justice against her parents and the bad guys. Although I understand they didn't want to deal with retaliation forever, I look for the fantasy of abusive patriarchal structures collapsing getting satisfied and that fantasy didn't happen.

I loved the MMC's personality trait of never bluffing, and this quote right here,

“You called me a half-breed yesterday,” I said coldly. “Do you remember?”
Gota swallowed hard. “Yes.”
I gave him a chilling smile. “You were right. The Florentine banker in me tried to play nice… but you’re dealing with the Sicilian half now.”

Predictable but still enjoyable and it's good to meet Roberto's fiancée

This book's structure is slightly weird as it is very repetitive having Roberto's side and the Mei-Ling's side then the conclusion which was fairly short i do wish we had more of them after what happens in Hong Kong. It is understandable why it is done that way so the story is not ruined by having split POV earlier chapters. It was nice to see the times where they were falling in love. I don't think there was that much BDSM content as it suggested but it's definitely a good book and learning about Roberto and him finding love was the next logical choice. Now I'm onto Valentino's book.

Roberto, you sly little devil. I never saw this coming with the buttoned up Rosolini brother. Roberto’s story is hands down my favorite in the Mafia King series and I swore they were all equally good. But I loved seeing the funny side of Roberto come out (as well as his seriously sexy side) and play with Mei-Ling. He’s adorable and shy, at first, and then let’s just be for real for a second, he’s a walking three-alarm fire BEFORE his commands. The content warnings for this book are a more than past books in the series. The spice is spicy 🌶️ in this one. It deals with BDSM subject matter, kidnapping in memory only, misogyny, and violence, to names a few.

Slow start but when he finally meet her it’s was TEA honey i want expecting this from the finance Bro! Mei-ling was not with that gang shit! She should have pimp slapped Lau and Han next. I’m on that the flashback bit could be short i get we getting her perspective i only cared when we go to my pookie Roberto flashback and when she came back to show him she got his back IKTR!! she said if we go down then we do gown together !!! Roberto was not playing about his GIRLLLL! when he was happy she was talking to him with her having a gun in his face. I LOVE IT I LOVE ITTT! So cuteness so cuteee! And when we was stalking her they was haunting each other. Man was in distress!

Roberto and Mei-Ling's story was a good read. I found it interesting to read what they went through but awful to read all of her story midway (ish) through the story and then their story continues. To me it took away from their story and didn't care for it--even though her story was essential I would have liked it better to not have disrupted the part I was involved with. The ending was suspense filled but went quickly and wasn't finished to me. Roberto ends up being a good character and it's a bit of a shame that he was not brought up more in previous books. I really liked him. The spice was here (and good), some light humor and a lot of action and suspense.

Roberto’s Story Ignites! 🔥

Roberto's story takes us to Hong Kong, where a routine business trip turns deadly. Threats from the syndicate put Roberto on high alert, but it's Mei-ling who truly captures his attention. Their connection isn't instant, but Roberto's persistence pays off, and their chemistry ignites. With a mix of BDMS, action, and unexpected twists, this story keeps you on the edge. While some scenes felt repetitive with dual perspectives, the book remains a very good read with a cleverly crafted plot. 🤓

Roberto and Mei-ling

Oh Wow! Roberto really surprised me. Who would have guessed he was so dominant and a control lover (I’m afraid to Davy the f word lol so I’ll use lover)? AND so skilled in pleasing a woman. This book has some major twist thrown in and I just loved them. Mei-ling is perfect for Roberto and didn’t know what hit her when she met the real Roberto in and out of the bedroom. I loved their dates. Roberto always made them memorable. This is one you really don’t want to miss out on.

Not the same as the other books in the series, disappointing

I enjoyed the previous books in the series but this one was not the same. Absolutely hated all the ridiculous pronunciation and explanatory side comments and then right at the big confrontational moment to go back and repeat the entire book from the other side was excruciatingly boring and unnecessary, maybe a few key points would have worked but not chapter after chapter after chapter. Don’t believe I will continue on and finish the series. Disappointing.

Roberto is someone who you don't want to mess with

Roberto is another brother in the Mafia Kings series. He is head of the finances for his family. He must go to Hong Kong to meet with Mr. Lau to get back the50 million they invested to fight the war against their uncle. Roberto finds a woman Mei-Ling who he finds himself falling in love with. He unfortunately finds out that she works for Mr. Lau. What he thinks is betrayal soon turns into help with a plan to get what he went to Hong Kong for. This family keeps getting more interesting.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book was very much so ROBERTO!

What that means is he is the one that’s more calculated and behind the scenes. Being in finance he deals with offices and meetings and strategically maps everything out.

The books plot was very much so that plus the addition of his dark dom side !

There were a few sections that had me quickly scanning through, but overall very good! I loved going both of their perspectives!

very good

I am really enjoying this series. All the brothers and Lars are so different from each other. The writing, spice scene, audio narrators are sooo good. Olivia Thorn did such a good job with the characters. I especially loved the dominating character of Roberto… the speaking commands three times to get Mehling to submit/agree. I loved the dual pov.
Very entertaining book

Control is what he desires.

This is Roberto and Mei-ling's tumultuous love story. Get ready for dominance, passion, danger, violence, betrayal and a dark, twisted storyline. These two characters have so much chemistry and their sexcapades are so scorching and will keep you on edge, not knowing what they'll do next! The ending is so suspenseful! You must read this book and this series, beginning with book 1, Dario.

one shock after another!

I was reluctant with this book with it being BDSM. Not really my type of read but wow! This book had so much going on that I couldn’t stop till it was over. This book kept me gripping my seat and yelling out but also laughing. Roberto is sexy and his mind is a beautiful place to be in. Idk how the Author does it but each book just gets better and better.

This book was good, don’t get me wrong. But its my least favorite in the series thus far. Roberto is definitely my least fave brother 😩 He is supposted to be the analytical and money focused one, but he is chasing behind a woman while his family is broke and in danger…not even checking in with them regularly?? Sir please lol. Even Adriano and Massimo knew how to handle business while also falling in love.

Sizzling

This author can write! The characters were such a steamy combination and to get both sides to their stories just made it better. I did notice it lagged some but other than that what an adventure. You will get immersed in the gangster world and the mystery, violence that comes with it. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

great story line, repetition getting old

I love this story line and the arc is good however the device of getting to a cliff hanger and then going back and spending chapters redoing the same scenes but from the other perspective is getting annoying and seems more like a device to make the books longer. Well worth the read but watch as you get to the later books in the series
