Since time immemorial, the humans have longed for the day when peace and happiness enfold the world. The God will take birth as a human and restore humanity, destroy evil and establish blissfulness. The wait for the one divine man who will fulfill all these expectations is over…..
Short Novel. Reminds you of 'The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy' with its weird and surreal set of events. Honestly I might not have understood because I read it in a train surrounded by noisy kids and ranting aunts but I got a feeling that between the lines it tried to convey some message, part of which I grasped and well, I must say, it was intriguing. Anyways won't hurt to try a 104 page novel for it atleast has an insight to offer.
Wonderful work done by a Debutant, being his first novel he has done a very good job. Science fiction is not always an easy task, and has narrated very well to suit the flow making justice to it. Really liked it!! I'm sure his Hunt in Writing has already begun!! :)

My perception on the book and the author started increasing the second I saw this title, which influenced me to go further on my worst nightmare - reading a book.
With first few introductory chapters in the story, felt the same way other SCI-FI story used to be modeled, but then came the place which startled my boring eyes - The bomb blast scene, from then on my eyes never lost focus from the book, a very new experience of mine.
Yes It was the first time my eyes not just spanned across the book, but was helping my brain to relive the whole scenario in a virtual world...Not just reading but started experiencing them.
Further down the story, I felt the author who I suppose should be a cook in his previous birth - has precisely added spirituality, science, geology, history, imagination, current affairs, topography, literature in correct amount which would make the reader contended as it has blended in a stupendous manner...
I believe a best novel that too a SCI-FI ones should CONFUSE a reader what is a fact and what is imagination in the story, I'm sure I was all wrong on my calculations of these during my experience with this book.
The characterization of certain actors in the story drives me crazy in the way, I started yearning more presence of them in the remaining book, such was their dialogues and weightage given, though the name selection of the characters are only par, and makes it difficult to remember most of the names.
Then came the library scene, one of the best one I encountered which made me to pause my experience of the book and slowly made my brain to anarchist stage, with many thoughts conquering my mind at once, after a brief period I came to terms of the attempt made by the author to discover the hidden correlations in the infinite webbings around us like discovering a tip of an iceberg.
wOw..what an experience it was.. Felt I was book-warped into this story..In the end I just missed some romatic situations as we are used to in any other sci-fi story ;-)
I would say, this book is a perfect start for a science fiction writer. The story was narrated perfectly without any confusion. Very good try! Greatly appreciate the effort of the author. Kudos!!
First thing first . This novel seems to me as gold coin placed inside a faded wooden box. The concept was very good . I believe story has a potential to become a national bestseller. Story is blended in flavors of mystery ,sci fi ,philosophy and thriller. This novel could have been much better.
The idea of using time travel to enlighten us on various social issues was brilliant . Nicely conveyed .Author can amaze you with some beautiful lines.
Not so impressive writing style ,When I started reading this book ,within 5 minutes ,I felt like I am reading an essay .There is no dialogues between characters where it intended to be . More proof reading was required.Slightly unrealistic coincidences in novel ruined story moderately.
Character development is poor ,not a single character can express their emotions .The story could have been very mysterious ,the concept of Kumari kandam or lost lemuria was so tantalizing .All the legends that walked through this land was pre-destined to be here ,wow ,I liked this idea so much .
Devikumar, really a great effort and neat flow of story! Its easily one of the best novels i have ever read. Your hard work was reflected in many places. Initially when looking at the concept of Time machine, I had a little hesitation to continue further. But when I continued with some hope, I must admit that I had a wonderful experience. There was a very strong and beautiful message. Certainly, we need many such novels for our society to make our living more meaningful. Also wondering on your matured perceptions & the way you have expressed your views on religion. Thanks to my friend Siva too for introducing this good work to me. Congrats and all the best for the future too..
The Celestial Hunt--I was very much impressed and motivated towards the social responsibility that every individual should have from the context of the novel. The Author covered all science, spirituality, history in the novel. He has tried to deliver a lot of information, that was the highlight. when I started reading the last few chapters, I was not able to stop in-between before completing the novel. My favorite part was the time travel. The three time shifts and the way the author brought the connection between the time shifts were awesome......! Hope He should publish his next part of the Novel...!
The story is told and not shown in a broken English style that is cumbersome. The philosophy is intriguing but the story did not hold my attention. Characters were not developed as events in their lifetimes were narrated in generalizations within a paragraph or two.
Picked this from a friend and it turned out to be a good read. The scene-shifts were a bit abrupt, but nevertheless it was a nice concept told with intent.
This book is a profound amalgamation of thought-provoking ideas, engaging the reader in questions that challenge the core of our understanding about life, purpose, and the universe. The book begins by grounding us in the humbling reality of our existence. We, humans, are but a speck in the grand cosmic scale—just one among seven billion people, sharing this planet with 1.5 million species, in a universe filled with trillions of celestial objects. The introduction immediately sets the tone for the exploration of existential questions: Who created this intricate setup? What role do we play in this fleeting life? Are the events of our lives pre-determined? One of the book’s most compelling aspects is its unbiased exploration of the dichotomy between God and Science. On one side, the author delves into humanity’s long-standing reliance on faith and the concept of God—a supernatural being believed to orchestrate the universe. On the other, the book examines science’s relentless pursuit of understanding through observation, experimentation and logic. The brilliance of this book lies in its ability to engage readers on both an intellectual and emotional level. Through well-structured chapters and accessible language, it presents complex philosophical and scientific ideas without overwhelming the reader. It's not just a book—it is an experience, a journey into the deepest recesses of our consciousness. It challenges preconceived notions, encourages curiosity, and leaves readers with a sense of awe about the mysteries that surround us. In an age where divisions be they religious, ideological, or scientific seem to dominate, this book serves as a bridge, urging humanity to seek unity and purpose.
The fascinating study of human evolution and the scientific bases of different religions may be found in Devikumar Ramalingam's book "The Celestial Hunt." Sangford's book "Providential Psyches," which narrates inspirational stories from antiquity, is the focal point of this story, which is mostly set in Hyderabad and certain parts of the Philippines. The storyline of the novel demonstrate the author's in-depth knowledge of the subject. The method Devikumar Ramalingam blends gripping fictional elements with factual facts is a clear reflection of his vast research.
The book's main themes include the argument against God's existence and the idea that the cosmos is just a vacuum, with the provocative quote "Nothing controls Everything" serving as a highlight.
The tale gains depth and complexity as the novel explores the touchy subject of religious differences and the riots that follow. Because of author's skillful integration of philosophy, physics, and human drama, "The Celestial Hunt" is an essential read for anybody interested in the relationship between spirituality, science, and the secrets of the cosmos.
It is also a thrilling and suspense building towards the conclusion of the book as the unexpected death of the protagonist's father, time travel device and the startling discoveries regarding the "Providential Psyches", together combine to make for an engrossing and thought-provoking book.
All things considered, this book is a creative, well-researched work that pushes the reader's thinking beyond what they may have previously thought possible.
Dive into a cosmic journey of introspection with Devikumar Ramalingam's "The Celestial Hunt." This thought-provoking book explores the vastness of the universe, our place within it, and the eternal questions that have puzzled humanity for millennia. Ramalingam skillfully navigates through the mysteries of existence, prompting readers to ponder their purpose amidst the infinite expanse of space and time.
Devikumar Ramalingam invites readers on a philosophical quest, drawing from his deep understanding of spirituality, science, and human nature. His insightful exploration challenges conventional thinking, offering fresh perspectives on age-old inquiries about the cosmos and our role within it.
Overall"The Celestial Hunt" inspires contemplation and reflection, inviting readers to embark on their own journey of self-discovery. Whether you're a believer in the divine or a devotee of scientific inquiry, this book encourages an open-minded exploration of life's greatest mysteries. Ramalingam's narrative encourages us to embrace our humanity while acknowledging the vastness of the universe that surrounds us.
This has been my first e-book ever. I am done reading 88 pages "The Celestial Hunt" by Devikumar Ramalingam published by Bookode Publishers. I loved the way the book is written as a novella than a full-fledged novel as it has very few plots, twists and tales to talk about. I love the way story is initialized telling about the spicy relationship between the teacher, Jaidev and student, Koushik. It interests you. Also how a book brings both the protagonists closer is something that makes you alert as you want to know what the book and the reality behind it would be.
Author, Devikumar, aged 28, has chosen a very good theme to write his book upon. His freshness is seen as the book is good in some parts while it struggles at some. He has good story to tell but the narration is weaker some times. The start is very good considering even the first half. There are lots of loopholes in the second. The major drawback that I felt was the switch over from one scene to the another. It's too straight and blunt. It should have been pacy and soft. As soon as you are into the flow of the story, suddenly you are moved out of it and put into some different world and plot. By the time you get adjusted to it, you are again into something else.
Leaving this pothole aside, I have loved the way characters are been used in the story. I also liked the use of locations in the book. The theme is very hard and difficult to write but the way author has attempted it is great. I also felt that if paragraphs would have been smaller, it would have been little more catchy. What happens with Viraaj, Harsith, Claudius in the time machine and the space they move into is exciting to read. The past behind the book and the mention of Indrajit and the whole plots around him and Jaidev is the best part of the book. Edwin and Rebecca's part are also treated well.
In short, I would say that the book is good in parts while falls at some. I will rate it 2.5/5. But I believe the author can show improvement with his next work. He has ability to pick up risky stories and tell.
Author Bio: Engineering graduate from Alagappa Engineering College, Anna University. Software Engineer, Tata Consultancy Services, Chennai since December 2007.
It has been my ambition to write short stories and novels which convey powerful messages to the society. "The Celestial Hunt" is my debut novel and this focuses on liberating people from corruption, communalism & poverty.
I had published this novel in March 2010 (hard copy) and did a complete makeover retaining the core theme and published as an ebook on January 2014. Blended with science fiction, spirituality, history & philosophy, I hope the novel offers a fascinating experience to the readers with captivating plots till the last line.
So, here is my review on The Celestial Hunt, the first e-book that I’ve read. The title of the book is catchy and by reading will try to find more about it. Even the cover of the book is charming and captivates the reader’s attention towards it. Kudos to its designers!
Talking about the story, it’s basically of an average student Kaushik. One day, while in school, his physics teacher Jaidev tells him and his classmates about Sangford’s book named ‘Providential Psyches.’
Kaushik then searches for that book and he gets it from his fathers library. The next day as Jaidev and Kaushik were travelling a sudden blast at a religious meet scatters off everything. Kaushik has to be admitted to a hospital. This incident makes Kaushik scrutinize on certain facts. In the next slot, Kaushik gets to know about Jaivdev being Orphan. The part describing Jaidev mentions about his friendship with Indrajit and both have common goals.
What is that goal, How do they achieve it and what role does Sangfords book plays is what you need to explore from the book. The subject of this book is related to a historic event which unfolds before the readers in the later part of the book. The description of the whole historic event is totally amazing. At places, the story has many contemplative messages hidden in it.
Talking about the book - it has been authored in a fascinating manner. The names of persons, locations, etc. are good and beguiling. The initial part of the story is much more interesting than the later part. In the initial part, the story moves smoothly where as in the later part, attention of a reader is often dragged to another one all of a sudden. It creates a little bit of distraction.
Barring that, the story stands strong. It’s an interesting work of fiction done by this debutant author. I would surely ask my readers to purchase it and enjoy this cosmic tale.
The plot starts in the city of Vizag -India, with Rajesh, the son of a renowned writer Ram, picking up a mysterious book named “Providential Psyches’ authored by Sangfrod. In the meantime, Eliza meets Graham on Boracay Island – Philippines, and presents him with a painting with the name Sangfrod engraved at its bottom and asks him to decipher it. Anil, physicist and the protagonist, designs a time machine and selects three people – a wicked politician, a powerful religious leader notorious for inciting communal tensions and a terrorist kingpin, for a time travel.
The author starts with an interesting premise and that particular interest in the exploring this genre is evident from the preface itself. He makes some genuine observations about the time travel and situations the various characters find themselves in but the writing is full of grammatical, punctuation, spelling and English usage is particularly terrible. All this takes away from the experience of reading the book which is sad because it had the potential to be much better.
I am going with 1.5/5 for R.Devikumar's 'Celestial Hunt'. It deserved better editing and publishing, it would have been far more rewarding read.
“The Celestial Hunt” by Devikumar Ramalingam touches upon various aspects of human evolution and the science behind various beliefs. Based in Hyderabad and parts of Philippines, the book predominantly deals about a legendary piece of art- “Providential Psyches”, a book by Sangford, narrating various inspiring stories from ancient times. Jaidev, a physics teacher has a wonderful work on time machine, which plays a magnificent role in shaping the story. The story is full of twists and turns. A lot of research has gone into the book and it is clearly understood by the way in which facts have been provided with supporting proofs. The story also focuses on riots due to religious differences. It challenges the existence of God and how the universe is nothing but vacuum. The phrase “Nothing controls Everything” is the highlight of the book. The sudden disappearance of the protagonist’s father, the time machine by Jaidev and the thrilling revelations about the “Providential Psyches” will make the reader enjoy this piece of work thoroughly.
The first time I tried reading this book was around 5 years back, I was then put off by the poor language used. This month I was on a reading spree and I thought of giving this book another go, I struggled through it but finally completed it. I appreciate the author for writing the book but this review would be a very hard view on it.
As I started reading this book, the writing felt a bit amateurish and this made it very difficult to finish it. The characters were underdeveloped, the transitions between characters were haphazard, the conclusions (especially the one at the preface) naive and the story altogether rushed. The story had the stuff to be made into novels, but the author in his spurt of pushing his message has rushed through the story and that too in a corrugated manner. Though the story was good the non-uniqueness of the 'message' and the writing makes me wonder, is it worth it?
Jump – cuts has always been a poetic art in the cinematic world. The random tossing of fragments of the plot – their random fall – and, rhythmic interlace of mishmash of time and place challenges and locks human mind. And, this time, Devikumar brings in such a concept in his debut Celestial Hunt.
The spicy relationship – the ground-breaking invention – and an eerie mystery that surrounds the plot is breath-taking. It starts with a plot to reckon. The impeccable style where the author tries to implement the literary expression of what can be loosely termed as “coitus interruptus” – where one on the verge of revealing the plot stops abruptly and then picks up a new fragment not in relevance to the previous one. The randomness of the style was supposed to make the reader reckless.
This is a awesome book to read ... Devi your imagination really very fine as you sketch the journey ..we get a sense of the everyday and the little things that make up the culture of policing ..This is what is great about the book..It is the familiar device of a character finding they have to police a strange new world..Therefore, I’d say it is a highly enjoyable and makes me completing the whole journey .. I was enjoyed this book and once again find myself awaiting the next installment
I read this book "Celestial Hunt" written by Devikumar. It is an excellent compilation of events that leads to an extraordinary invention. The purpose for which this scientific invention is being used is very good. In his first book, Devikumar has set a tone for his next books. As an author, he is very promising. Eagerly awaiting for his next.
I got this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. It is quite an ambitious plot that deals with history and time travel; subjects that I love to delve in. However the language is so basic and immature that it took me a long time to get through the book. Though the plot is interesting in parts, I was put off by the writing style of the author.
