Bestselling author Terri Osburn returns with a new installment in her award-winning NOT series of romantic comedies. Five friends find love in the city, taking on life one unexpected romance at a time.
This was supposed to be a renovation, not a romance.
After spending the last decade building my own wedding photography business, I’ve finally saved up enough money to buy the house my grandparents built. Now I need a contractor to bring the long-neglected home back to life. Only finding someone willing to take the job and do it my way is proving more difficult than expected.
Enter Calvin Hopkins. My teen crush and nemesis, he is the last person I want to hire, but, unfortunately for me, he’s also the only person willing to take on the project. In fact, he’s borderline insistent that I hire him. He clearly needs the work, and thanks to this cruel twist of fate, I need him.
Fine. So long as he brings my vision to life, I can deal. Once the house is finished, we’ll go our separate ways and I can get back to my solitary life. Or maybe not. What starts as meetings to choose tile and paint colors turns into casual dinners, then actual dates, and I can’t believe I’m considering a more long term collaboration.
Until Calvin’s true motives come into question, and then I don’t know what to believe. Letting him into my heart may have been a huge mistake, and getting him back out is proving to be not so easy.

I enjoy the authors writing but had a really hard time getting into this book. When I finally did, after putting it down for several months, i read it in a few hours. I liked the story but did not really like the fmc. And I really did not like the conflict at the end. To me, it was pretty far-fetched, which is saying a lot because most of the conflicts in books are an over reaction, but are at least somewhat relatable. Not one of her friends or mother was like, "Maybe you are overreacting. "...they all ultimately agreed with her????? One of the few times I wished the couple did not end up together. Calvin deserves better.
I adore this series so much. Everyone in the friend group is so great, I love reading each book and seeing their love story but also getting to see everyone in each book. I love that each book follows someone new, but I still get updates about the characters I’ve gotten to know and love. While Not You Again is probably still my favourite of the 4 books (+ novella) so far, this was a very close second.
The story was really fun, I loved the balance of seeing the renovation and what all the details meant to Donna, but also getting to know Calvin and seeing how things developed between them. Their past history was so fun, and the way the topic was brought up between them was great.
I’ve struggled with romance books lately because I tend to not love the ‘third act conflict’ so many have because often it seems like it’s there just to be there. I didn’t feel that way with this book. Yes, there is a conflict, but it made sense with the story and the characters. It was well done and the resolution was perfect.
I already really liked that the epilogue really set up for book 5, in a way that still fit in with Donna’s story but makes me super excited for it to come out. I can definitely see myself rereading this, and I think it very easily could be read as a stand-alone if someone hadn’t read the previous books.
This story had me laughing And enjoying it the whole way through
This author has a way to make the character seem lifelike and probably friends that you would have. The Issues that went through this story made me at 1st think Issues that went through this story made me at 1st think what I Issues that went through this story made me at 1st think what I spoiled lady. But then I got to understand Through the author's writing That they were They were hurt insecurity were making her act that way. The twist and turns the The twist and turns the story took me on my toes I read it in 1 night. I read it enjoy this story date way too I read it enjoy this story stayed up way too late.
The banter between Calvin and Donna was epic! To see how they both held onto their feelings from so long ago and how it made them really lash out at each other without not really getting to know each other for who they are now was beautifully written. How they were basically “enemies” but became friends, and then they had to get over their own hurt and misunderstandings to get the HEA that they didn’t think they deserved but so totally do, was beautiful. A great writing Terri, thank you so much!
Author Terri Osburn introduces Donna, her main character, to the reader. Donna saved her money for about 10 years so she could buy relative Bammie’s dilapidated, junky 1970s house for renovation. The one contractor who said he was ready to do it was the one contractor (Calvin) she didn’t like from years ago when they were kiddos. Fascinating to read them figuring out what was wrong and maybe repairing enough of the house and the relationship to make it right? We’ll see!
This is Book 4 of the Not Series, and we follow Donna and Calvin. After saving for 10 years, she buys an old house that belonged to her grandparents. The contractor she hires is Calvin, who she had a crush on years ago. As the work on the house is done the relationship between the two of them grows until the inevitable misunderstanding. I thought Donna could be a bit of a brat at times. This was a nice addition to the series.
Calvin and Donna knew each other as kids. Donna didn’t grow up with him but she visited her Bammy every summer. She worked hard for ten years so she could buy Bammy’s house. The house needed a lot of work. Calvin being a contractor offered to help but she thought he didn’t like her when they were kids, so she turned him down. Until…….she could find no one else matching availability and price. Which lead to them getting to know each other better.
These books are always so sweet but the third act breakup was hard to buy in this one. I’m an only child too so maybe that’s why Donna irritated me during that 😭 but like girl really??? Over a mural??? get over it 😭

I really enjoyed read this book. It has a well written plot and wonderful characters. I love a good book filled with witty dialogue and an interesting storyline. All of the stories in this series are good. I can't wait to read the next one.
I read the previous "NOT Series books" and I enjoyed them. I enjoyed this one well enough, too, but for me it wasn't as good as I remember the previous ones being.
