Poet in powerfully provocative dialogue via spare archival poetry. Honoring her Lenape (Delaware) ancestors and reckoning with genocide committed by European colonists, among the earliest recorded encounters (1782 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio).

Honoring family and place, including trail marker trees and learning how to make with a sapling from husband Tom Pecore Weso. Heartfelt and provocative!

Denise Low is a former Kansas Poet Laureate.

This is a fascinating and intense collection. I’m more drawn to the narrative level than I am to the language/sentence level.
