Rubilena Lanmiere can barely remember how it felt to live life for herself. Or what it feels like to live a life in the open. Raising her daughter in a world where it’s dangerous to be noticed, her days are spent selling forbidden remedies in her grandfather’s shop — and paying her brother Theo’s debts in an underground fight den.
When their absent mother returns to gift Theo a mysterious medallion, Rubilena and Theo find themselves fleeing their home in Koamah, hunted by the entire Kingdom and its enemies. With the secrets of the medallion painting a deadly target on her brother’s back, Rubilena is forced to seek help from a man who once broke her heart, and her trust.
In search of the mystical witches who can free Theo from the medallion’s claim, the group find themselves wrapped inextricably in the tendrils of a prophecy. But as the fight for the ultimate knowledge intensifies, the weight of secrets already between them threatens to tear Rubilena and her allies apart.
And they can’t be sure if the medallion is seeking to fulfil a deadly prophecy, or save them from the encroaching darkness…
Review 4.5 stars! This is an adult fantasy romance standalone ❤️ it was sooo refreshing to read a book that has more mature characters (the FMC is a mom!)😍 Rubilena is a strong female lead that fights for the survival of her family. Her world is turned upside down when suddenly her brother finds himself with an important, and most wanted, medallion. Now both of them are hunted by the entire kingdom. Fox, a soldier who in the past broke RubiLena’s heart, joins in the journey to help them.
I love it that even through this whirlwind that Rubi is thrown into, she always puts her daughter and family first. The romance was reluctant since Rubi has a hard time forgiving Fox for his betrayal in the past but an old attraction is starting to spark. What I liked the most about the story is the strong family element! The story is very character driven (which are my favorite types!) and you really connect to the characters ❤️
What to expect: ✨second chance romance ✨strong family ties ✨slow burn romance ✨badass mom FMC ✨mature characters ✨hidden identity ✨one horse ride ✨prophecy ✨LGBTQ+ rep
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review
5⭐️ When Secrets Beckon is a beautifully character driven, standalone, adult fantasy which had me hooked from the start. I was completely invested in all of the characters and as immersed in the reading experience as much as I am in a big series.
Rubelina is a dedicated granddaughter, big sister, mother and friend always working hard to provide for and to protect her little family in a city where being a woman and being noticed brings danger. In order to free her brother, Theo, from the bad choices he made in the past, Ruby is working in an underground fight club… little does she know that this is the perfect training ground for the trouble that finds her when her long lost mother arrives to gift her brother a magic medallion. This medallion is being hunted by many, most who will stop at nothing to acquire it and Ruby and Theo find an unlikely protector in Ruby’s ex, Fox, the one who shattered her heart into pieces and ran away.
We begin the book by meeting the most endearing cast of characters, spending good quality time in their lives as we really get to know them deeply. The slow pace allows us to invest completely in every character and feel like we truely understand what is going on in this world. It also eliminates the necessity for excessive action or over the top events leaving room for considered plot points which build the tension towards the big events we can just feel coming.
As our main characters are older, their conversations and interactions with one another are real, honest and reasoned. There is no miscommunication, no overly emotional reactions which makes their connections feel genuine. It was so nice reading characters that had life experience.
Ruby is a strong, capable woman who is emotionally and physically strong, able to protect those she loves but without the need for violence. Despite the hardships she has endured, Ruby is still loving, compassionate and caring. Her willingness to listen, to forgive and learn makes her such an amazing main character.
Fox is ruled by his obligations, every decision he makes considered so carefully and often stopping him from living the life he chooses. I adored seeing his growth as his connection with Ruby and Theo softened him and helped him to start considering himself in the choices he makes.
Theo was introduced as a young, naive and almost fragile person who needed looking after. It was amazing to watch him as he began to step into his strength as he was determined to make a difference in the lives of those around him. His character growth was epic!
The romance in this book was just gorgeous, with a slow burn quietly romantic coupling between two gorgeous young men and a hesitant but passionate coupling between a more mature female male couple with a big history. We also enjoy watching some of our side characters as they navigate new and old romantic relationships.
I absolutely loved When Secrets Beckon which read so well as a standalone, leaving me wanting for nothing at the end. Although I could happily pick up another story set in this world, following any of these characters (hint hint Lauren!)
If you loved the Amber Wolf Duology you will absolutely love When Secrets Beckon, do not hesitate to pick it up!
Includes: - Magic artefact - Witches - Royal families - Secret identities - Slow burn romance - Strong female characters - Family obligations - Journey to safety - Battles - MLM Romance - Bad ass Mum
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say I quite enjoyed this story. I loved the fact that the FMC is an older woman with a young daughter and a whole lot of real life baggage....such a nice change from fmc's who haven't lived long enough to really know who they are. I loved that she was badass, but also had a soft, vulnerable side. The whole found family thing was awesome, as was the romance. Lots of action and lots of twists.
When Secrets Beckon is a thrilling NA standalone romantasy. I was given an eARC and I am so happy I was chosen because I really enjoyed this book.
It feels like a breath of fresh air when the FMC is older, more mature, mother, caretaker - a beautifully written character. Rubilena is all of that and more, and has quickly become one of those characters I truly care about. At times I wished this was a series instead of a standalone so I could enjoy even more of her character development. When her brother is gifted a mysterious medallion, Rub is forced to go on a quest with him to seek help. This situation connects her with her long lost love, Fox. I truly enjoyed seeing their relationship build and repair, while facing difficult circumstances bigger than them. I loved how Ruby never lost sight of what was important to her - her family, her daughter, her friends and finally, her love.
When Secrets Beckon is perfect for fantasy readers searching more more mature characters, characters driven by their love for their family, friends, characters who know themselves and their values, and who fight for those with everything they have.
I have found the newest addition to my favorites shelf.
WHEN SECRETS BECKON is a romantasy standalone that manages to weave together a great story full of twists, a wonderful cast of characters and a beautiful second chance romance in only one book. I was in awe throughout the entire time I was reading.
What I love most about this story is the wonderful characters and their very mature and healthy relationships. Rubilena has a beautiful bond with her family, which includes her brother Theo, her daughter Marley, her grandfather, and Ash, the father of her child with whom she’s not in a relationship with any longer. This last relationship was especially beautiful to see—two people who have the emotional maturity to acknowledge that they work better as friends than as a couple and actually stay friends and continue to raise their child together.
And don’t get me started on the romance! Second chance is one of my favorite tropes. The angst is just perfection with a second chance. There’s the longing, the hurt, the memories that clash with the new reality… it’s just GOOD, and the slow burn second chance romance in this book was perfection. I felt all of Rubilena’s hurt when Fox reappears in her life, especially once I discovered why things ended the first time. Needless to say, I suffered a lot. Fox is exactly the type of hero I usually fall for, so I felt like dedicating a bunch of Taylor Swift songs to him. The level of heartbreak, pining or lovey-dovey feels varied depending on which part of the story I was in.
Like I mentioned above, this is a standalone, but I wouldn’t say no to more books, even if it follows different characters and I just get a glimpse of Ruby and Fox. One thing is for sure, you will not see me shut up about this book any time soon.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.
Thank you Lauren for this arc opportunity! I really enjoyed When Secrets Beckon, it is a fast paced, action packed stand alone fantasy that has you turning the pages quickly! As a mother myself I love that Lauren chose to tell this story from the perspective of a mother who loves her family and puts them above all. Rubilena (Rubes, Ruby) is loving, fierce, strong and just encompasses everything a mother is - she knows she isn’t perfect but she tries her hardest to protect and do best by those she loves. I adored all the characters in this book and wanted them all to get their happily ever after. Lauren has done an excellent job of writing real relatable characters where we explore the different complexities that life and relationships present. This is one of my first “second chance romance” books and I found it to be such a beautiful thing seeing two people who love each other come back together 💞
Nothing not to love about this book. It ticks every box for the reader - romance (with a little bit of spice!), war, prophecies, redemption and, ultimately, a message about the power of love. The fantasy is low - we don't have to learn any new languages, and there is a gorgeous map to keep your geography honest.
Ruby and Theo must make a dangerous journey in an attempt to protect the continent from the medallion their mother has left in Theo's possession. But the prophecy that has ruled their lives, and ruined the lives of many more, might just turn out to be bigger than the both of them.
Add in the reignition of old love, the sparking of new and the need, above all, to protect the daughter she would die for, When Secrets Beckon will wrap you in its arms until the last word is read.
When Secrets Beckon is an adult romantasy that features (FINALLY) a mom FMC, making this the perfect book for fantasy romance readers looking for a story that feels uniquely mature and deeply relatable!!
At the halfway mark, I already knew this story will be one of the most memorable, with captivating characters and a dark, high stakes plotline. My absolute favorite thing about this book is the second chance romance—I love that tension, angst, groveling, and slowburn build-up SO much!!
I can’t explain it exactly because I’m basing this purely off of vibes alone, but I feel like this book is perfect for fans of Outlander and From Blood & Ash!!
Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.
My disappointment that this is a standalone is a testament to Lauren Searson-Patrick's writing. I want more.
*spoilery*
Having read Amber Wolf and Blue Pointed Star, I was looking forward to the deft skill with which Lauren constructs often complex primary relationships and a supporting cast who could stand firmly in their own story. I was not disappointed.
This is Rubelina's story foremost. I loved that there was no ambiguity to her motivation- she's a mum and mother figure, protecting hers. A healer in her heart but a defender by circumstance. The pining and worry that Rubelina endures is a constant companion that mothers and mother figures will understand. Her anxiety for Marley, her pining for innocence lost for Theo, her regret over Fox. Rubelina deserves her happy ending. Fox is the epitome of a respectful, atoning second chance love.
Speaking of, the HEA was quick and neat when it arrives. Herein lies the rub, maybe I'd be better satisfied with an epilogue? Maybe I'm greedy and want a whole other book? No pressure.
Part of the charisma of When Secrets Beckon is its supporting cast. I love that their stories are where I am most curious- how do Theo and Brode go forward? More of Ash and Kaya and how their blended family grows. I so would love to know that Trini and Xave give themselves permission to "be." Heck, I even want a HEA for Roan.
A special mention goes to characters who are written as "normally mature" (not my best turn of phrase). They are not impossibly aged nor uncomfortably young to be facing the life stages or challenges thrown at them.
The fight scenes were very well done. They had a fluidity to them that enabled the reader to feel the chaos and relief.
Now maybe it was just me because I was gobbling the story up, but I missed a couple of queues to off page conversations and I was reminded to slow down and relish the tale.
Thank you @laurenspbooks for the eARC it was my pleasure and delight to keep company with your characters.
There is nothing more satisfying than finding a good fantasy standalone that provides everything you crave in a story: great characters, good plot, and a wonderful romance. This book checked all these boxes for me. I love a good series like the next booknerd, but sometimes I just need a good book that will take me through all the emotions without leaving me hanging on a cliff’s edge.
WHEN SECRETS BECKON follows Rubilena—mother of a beautiful girl, sister of a young man she raised as if he were her own, and fighter in an illegal fight club to pay off her brother’s debts. When her mother returns mysteriously and gifts her brother a mysterious medallion that holds the secrets of the kingdom, and the medallion marks him, Rubilena is forced to flee before enemies find Theo, and the only person who can help them is the man who broke her heart years ago.
The slow burn in this book is excruciatingly beautiful. The romance was filled with all the angst, pain and groveling. There was clearly so much love and history between Ruby and Fox, and learning the reasons why things ended the first time only made everything hurt more. Their slow journey back to love—or at the very least, back to a place where they can admit they never stopped loving each other—was beautifully done. I also enjoyed having a more mature cast of characters, which also reflects in the relationships. For instance, in the relationship between Rubilena and Ash, the father of her child. Despite not being a couple any longer, they are amazing parents and make very good friends. But aside from the romance, no relationship is as deeply emotional as Ruby’s with the two kids she raised—her daughter Marley and her brother Theo. The love is manifest in her need to protect them, and every time she’s faced with the impossible decision to choose between who needs her more, which is inevitably followed by regret.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.
“There’s a roar in my ears, a heady swell of sound that I learned some time ago to force into background noise.”
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The initial blurb I read was intriguing and I just HAD to read it. “When Secrets Beckon” is a stand-alone story and is expected to be released on 9 April 2024! This must be added to your TBR!
This story had me hooked from the moment I started, until the end. The world of the story was understandable, I knew where we were all the time. I’d love to see more in this world to meet more of the people and ‘see’ more of the regions. The magic system is intriguing, and I’d love to know more about it.
I loved the characters – they were well-introduced and well-rounded. I loved that Rubilena was physically and emotionally strong, but not overly ‘violent’. She fought because she had to, not because she liked it. Her relationships with her family and friends, and the friends they meet along the way made her relatable.
The plot twists and reveals throughout the story flawed me and kept me reading to find out how in the world it will all turn out. No spoilers so you’re just going to have to read it when it is released!
I recommend this book 100%. For lovers of fantasy, romance, magic, and adventure, or as a great way to dip your toes into that genre pool. Definitely a must read!
Love, lies, and secrets | End of the world prophecy | Magic | Battles big and small | Slow burn with nice tension | Strong family unit | Misinformation/secret identities | Strong female characters
I had the honor of receiving the ARC of When Secrets Beckon from Lauren Searson-Patrick in exchange for an honest review.
When Secrets Beckon had me from the first chapter to the end of the book. Lauren Searson-Patrick delivered a beautiful heartwarming and intriguing, standalone, adult fantasy. The way its written makes it clear from the start that it’s an adult fantasy. The manner of communication between the characters and the way the characters think and react makes it clear that the characters are mature. Something I really liked about the book.
I fall in love with all the characters who are all introduced in a way that makes you want to know them. The characters have depth and the relationships between the characters are real. As a mother myself I felt the love of Rubelia(Ruby) has for her daughter and Theo. I love that she is emotionally and physically strong and is capable of protecting the people she loves.
The worldbuilding is wonderfully done and the magic system is very intriguing. Knowing this is a standalone, I hope that Lauren will take us back to this world in another story. Because I have the feeling there is much more to see and explore.
The reveals and the plot twists made this book into a page turner that I wanted to continue reading because I wanted to know how the story would end. I didn’t include spoilers because I think everyone should read this book when it Is released on 9 April 2024! So put it on your TBR!
𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜: ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 4.5 rounded to 5 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜: 🌶🌶🌶
I loved this book! It was so heartfelt, yet also a bit epic, and the second chance romance was just perfect.
I felt an instant connection to the FMC, Ruby, and could see so much of myself in her. So many of her thoughts and feelings are ones I've had, and I can't count the times I got teary reading her reactions. I'm the mum that drives to the grocery store without her kids, and cries because my little loves aren't with me, and these are the vibes I got from Ruby. Other than being a mother, and mother-figure, she's also a total bad*ss, who will literally do whatever it takes to keep her family and friends safe, and I fell just a bit in love with her for it.
The steamy romance was very slow burn, but the MMC was a bit of a rogue and I just adored him!
The plot twists just kept coming, some I saw, but most I didn't, and I enjoyed all the ways they played into the story. There were so many secrets and revelations which kept me on the edge of my seat.
I wish there was a bit more to the ending, it felt just a tad rushed, but overall, this book was amazing, and I cannot wait to grab a copy to put on my shelf!
This was a great, brilliant read. The first person, present tense was a bit jarring at first and for me, personally, my least favourite POV when it comes to novels.
BUT!!
This book pulled it off marvellously. It only took maybe 2 pages before I got over my trepidations about the writing style and got sucked into the story.
I loved the way the world building was done, unfolding slowly and methodically as the plot unravelled. There wasn’t an entire dump of stuff that would overwhelm readers, and instead the necessary information was provided whenever the story called for it (but not in like, a duex ex machina kind of way) and that’s my favourite kind of world building.
It allows the reader to connect, first, to the characters and their backstory, and that then helps with understanding their actions / motivations in relation to the world they’re living in.
Lauren has done marvellous work with the political unrest woven through the story, as well as giving equal attention to a main character who is also a mother (so rarely does a fantasy book have mothers as the bamf main character and this was a nice, pleasant change!). The undercurrent of how important one’s family (blood family, found family, dysfunctional families)is, above all else, is done really well in the midst of a story as gritty as this one was.
The last 3/4 is action packed as one would expect from a book about prophecies, witches, warring nations and misunderstandings and all of that was paced out really well imo.
When I started reading When Secrets Beckon by Lauren Searson-Patrick I had no idea this book would become one of my favorites.
The story starts when Theo, the brother of Rubilena (Ruby), receives a mysterious object by their estranged mother. And when they learn the owner of this object gets to learn secrets to destroy the world, things get really dangerous.
From the very first page I got sucked into the story. The writing style is fast paced and flowing. The worldbuilding is great and so very well described. You feel the fear and all the emotions of the characters. I just love Ruby, she is a fighter, fierce and a real protector of her family and the ones she loves. She has no choice in her situation, but makes the best of it. When her long lost love arrives and agrees to help her to get rid of the object, she learns that not everything is as it seemed. Fox, the friend from before, comes across great as well. He is mysterious and as the story unfolds we get to learn who he really is and what happened. The plot of the object is also fantastic. Each time we get to learn a bit more and that makes that I could not stop reading.
When Secrets Beckon is a fantastic novel, filled with mystery, magic, danger, betrayal, romance and with many twists and turns, most of which I did not see coming, at all. If you want to read a novel that gets a hold on you, this is it. I can’t wait to read more books written by this author.
Thank you to Lauren Searson-Patrick for the ARC of When Secrets Beckon!
Fans of Amber Wolf will find much to love in this action-packed fantasy. It's full of Searson-Patrick's signature mix of magic, romance, mystery, destiny, and family (both found and otherwise), and the tensions that tug on the heroine, Ruby, make it hard to put down. Ruby's role as a mother made this book particularly affecting for me, her fierce protectiveness for both Marley and Theo weaving (and sometimes warring) in a deeply relatable way with the ways in which she embodied her own womanhood and experienced her romantic relationships.
The romance in this novel is a sweet and tender second chance, and its slow burn is a lovely complement to Ruby's own journey to freedom from her past and acceptance of her own destiny. Just like with Amber Wolf, Searson-Patrick's prose is intimate, giving us clear insight into the complexities of Ruby's character and the ways she relates to her world.
If you're looking for an adult romantic fantasy with plenty of adventure, mystery, and prophecy, When Secrets Beckon might be one for your TBR!
I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Rubilena was the tough, big hearted fighter & protector we all need in our corner. A brawling single mother, sister & granddaughter fighting for survival & driven by her love for her family.
“Every fibre in my body has been built – designed – to stop my family hurting.”
I very much enjoyed the original storyline with its twists & turns, keeping the story interesting.
The characters are relatable & you feel their relief, loss & love right alongside them. The character relationships are beautifully written you can’t help but form an attachments to them but also the growing family unit that instills you can control the good people who are apart of your life.
Definitely worth reading. I found it has many uplifting vibes & messages to be taken away alongside romance, battles, magic, adventure & spilled secrets.
“Even my daughter knows there is beauty in broken things.”
First, I was lucky enough to read When Secrets Beckon as an ARC provided by Lauren Searson-Patrick.
The Good This was such a fun book. Ruby is badass, and I loved the characters and their relationships, especially the chemistry between Ruby and . But nothing is done as well as Ruby's relationship with her daughter. As a parent, I think those were spot on (and something I very rarely see done well in fiction, so kudos, Lauren, if you read this).
The Bad Some parts of the setting lack detail, so I'd get kind of blindsided later by something. At one point I thought we were in the desert, but then they emerge from trees. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but it does hurt the ambiance a bit. I also think Ruby engages in a bit to much emotional introspection and handwringing.
The Ugly I had a hard time buying into how everything ended up the way it did. Major, major spoilers .
That said, I still had a ton of fun reading this book, and if you want a fun fantasy with a mom MC who can still be a badass, this is a great book for you.
When Secrets Beckon takes readers on an exhilarating ride through a world brimming with political intrigue, underground fight clubs, and the rekindling of romance.
As the story unfolds, the characters effortlessly draw you into their world, delving deep into the complexities of human relationships and the profound sacrifices made for love.
With each chapter, I found myself caught up in the perfect balance of suspense and emotion... keeping me on the edge of my seat, craving to unravel the next unexpected twist.
For anyone in search of a captivating tale filled with twists, turns, and emotional depth, this book is a must-read.
I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy for an honest review. I look forward to diving into more books from the author in the future.
When Secrets Beckon is an exciting and adventurous fantasy romance that you will not be able to put down!
I was absolutely enthralled by this book! It was very different from what I was expecting, but it definitely did not disappoint! It was quite refreshing how unique the ideas in this book were. I was very pleased and did not get bored from over used ideas once! There was always something going to keep the book exciting, but not too much that it was overwhelming. I also really liked that the FMC is a mother, I don't read a lot of fantasy that comes from the mother's point of view. I am a mother, so I related to her a lot, which made the book that much better to me. Overall this book was just an amazing read!
This was a beautifully written book. It is a romantasy and it is very easy to follow. The fantasy world is well developed but clear, easy to follow. The romance was slow burn but lovely to see it development. The MC's are more mature (FMC is a Mother) and this shows in the development of the relationships and the family dynamic that exists for the FMC. The story is really about prophesy, magic and war, with a side serving of romance but you do end up rooting for the FMC and the MMC. There are other very important characters in the story as well, they are given adequate time within the story to see their character development also. I loved this book and hopefully will have the opportunity to read more!
This is a great book. A real epic adventure with hurdles and plot twists. The lost love was wonderful. I also really enjoyed that the FMC was a single mother who was a little older than standard heroines. However, the ending of the final battle felt a little rushed. There could have been a little more build up around hte prophecy coming true and being solved. I really loved Ruby and Fox. They were some of the best written and had the most realistic feelings. Lauren really has a way with characters! If you like fantasy but you're in it for great characters, this book is for you!
😍😍😍😍😍 (5 out of 5)
Big thanks to Lauren Searson-Patrick for a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Such a good one! Definitely one that I didn’t want to put down. While it is a fantasy piece, it felt like something that could happen in your city. Ruby is a fighter to help cover a debt, but in reality she’s a mom, sister, granddaughter, and friend that would do anything to help the people she loves. There are so many great characters in this book and a few things popped out that I didn’t expect. Also, if you prefer stand-alones or series, I honestly can’t tell you which this falls under. This was wrapped up nice and neat, but at the same time there is so much more that can be explored. Again, great read, and I’m looking forward to reading other works by Lauren.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!! What I love about Lauren’s work is the originality with plot and characters, and her latest book did not disappoint. This book shows the multi-faceted nature of women’s lives: the main character Rubilena has a daughter and numerous other responsibilities to friends and family, which she can’t just walk away from, no matter how tough this makes things for her. But then she’s put in a really difficult position and has to prioritise. I felt for her so much!!! The characters are relatable and I definitely want to know more about this fantastical world 🗺️ I was swept away by this ripper of a read!🌟❤️
When Secrets Beckon is a heart-wrenching tale about family, lost love, and sacrifice. I was hooked from beginning to end.
It's also really nice to see some positive family dynamics in adult fantasy. So many main characters are off on their own, but When Secrets Beckon is all about holding family close - blood or otherwise.
The plot felt fresh and unique. I would highly recommend.
This one took me a minute to get into, but once I did, I was hooked!
Rubilena was a strong woman, doing all she could to keep her family safe, even when it meant leaving her daughter behind to travel and help her brother. He unwilling became the owner of a medallion, one that was highly sought after by others, and unfortunately not easy to let go of once you've take possession.
The romance with Fox? He and Rubilena had a relationship in the past, but you could clearly see how he felt about her. The romance was slow burn but I was rooting for them to be together all along!
I absolutely love this author's work, and look forward to reading more in the future.
Thank you so much @laurenspbooks for this ARC copy!! This book has absolutely fantastic worldbuilding, the nation so lush that I could see many more stories playing out here. I felt like there could have been some more explanation of the prophecy at the start, and who the characters were to each other, but the secrecy (wink wink nudge nudge) is very much worth it. When the prophecy was addressed to completion, I was fully SHOOK. Just when you thought it was over, it wasn’t!! Rubilena is such a unique protagonist to me, she is fierce, but also deeply caring, a mother, a sister, a lover. She was a delight to have the story be told from. Fox….I’m personally not sold on, but his and Rubilena’s second chance romance is absolutely chefs kiss. It’s no surprise that the queer side character is my favourite (although, it is important for me to make note that this book does have multiple!!) I adored reading the story through Rubilena’s eyes, but also, Lauren, Theo and [REDACTED; keeping this a secret because I loved the will they won’t they aspect of them hehe] gay cottegecore spin-off when??
