I passed the DLAB with a 150!
This book is definitely riddled with errors, but with 4 days prior to the test, I was able to work past the poor writing and get a real feel for how the real test was. It is very very similar! If you are wanting to go to DLI, or just pass the DLAB, this book WILL help familiarize you with the test and make you so much more successful.
5 Stars for helpfulness and accuracy,
1 Star for poor writing and lack of a competent editor,
3 Stars for a few mistakes in answer key and question answer choices, but because of my success (I do have a degree in linguistics as a reference though for potential buyer) which I believe is due the familiarization this guide provides I give it 5 stars!
Seriously though Mr. Cunnings, please hire an editor or reach out to me and I will gladly assist in editorial work! (Doubt this part will be read though lol)
I was going to join the army as a 35P Cryptolinguist, but I ultimately decided on an officer job instead, best of luck to all future test takers!

Very helpful
Outside of a couple pretty significant typos, (I believe the answer to question 51. is B and not A, and you can wear a boot, not a “boat”) this guide was wildly helpful. Before finding it, I didn’t believe it was possible to study for the DLAB. This training manual gives not only the grammar rules you can expect to find on the DLAB, but really practical test taking tips I believe everybody can benefit from. I feel much more prepared going into the DLAB after studying this guide.

It would be cool if we can get audio links for the test questions to hear someone read things correct but this answered all my questions. If you’re on the fence of buying this because “there’s no way to study for the DLAB” that’s sorta true but it’s like how test prep for the SAT and ACT includes knowing what sections there is going to be and this book at least eased my mind a little so I won’t be surprised and caught up on format. It was good to practice remembering the answers on my hand too without pen or paper.

Okay Book
After personally taking the DLAB I can say that this book is fine for some practice. But I would advise users to concentrate on the listening portions. Even though this book is, obviously, text based you should sound everything out and even have someone else read it to you.

Not bad
I think this was useful in learning the skills needed to take the dlab. I wish it was longer (especially the practice portion) because right when I was getting the hang of it, it would end
It would also be nice to get an automated (audio book?) version of the audio portion

Quick Read, helpful but not extensive
I finished reading this in an hour. It’s helpful but it’s more of a practice book than a study guide. External sources are required for complete comprehension.

Best and Only Book Needed for DLab Prep
Recruiter said that this is the test that ‘Nobody can prepare or study for’. This is bs and you have to realize that many of these people dont care about your future at all. I had a horrible experience with the Army which led for me going straight to YouTube and looking for prep material and almost every youtuber mentioned this story. Highly recommend dont ever go into life head-on. Even if its a little help STUDY.

Mediocre
The practice test was useful to get reps at the grammar rules, but I went through this book in about an hour on the kindle.

Haven’t taken the test yet but I can’t even imagine taking it if it’s anything like the guide without reading the guide itself. Very helpful.

great book!
This book is the sole reason I was able to pass my DLAB. There is two minor flaws in the answer key but once you have the hang of the concepts it is easy to s distinguish these mistakes and know if you actually got the answer correct or not. Good luck to all

All of the information found in this book can be easily found online by watching YouTube videos or surfing Reddit. The only part which is worth money is the practice test at the end which you need another person for if you want it to actually help you on the test (even something similar to this can be found on YouTube). That being said, I scored a 130 on the DLAB after using the practice test with my sister to gain some familiarity.

Excellent study guide
This study guide does work . When I first took the DLAB I a scored an 86. After this guide I scored a 95. Exactly what I needed. The rules in this book are exactly the ones on the test. It is important to remember when you take the test all of it is audio. Once you have an understanding of the rules I recommend having a friend read out loud the made up sentences. Additionally if you have time, study English grammar rules in more detail than this book. That also helped me. This study guide is worth every penny.

This helped me prepare for the DLAB so I knew exactly what to expect. The tips and practice test really helped me so when I got a question I could mentally come up with the answer and actively listen for it while testing.
Scored a 124. success!! Familiarity helped Herrmann calm even.when the hard crazy questions came at the end of each section.
