Liz just won the jackpot on the lottery! She should be happy. She should be celebrating with her husband. She should be living the good life. She should be..... but in reality, it has cause so many problems, and now it seems like her past is out to get her.
My Thoughts
I'm not sure how to write a review on this book. I didn't like the plot. ( it felt overdone and reshashed) it didn't like the characters ( they were all horrible people and felt flat). I didn't like the setting ( California is so overused), yet I couldn't put the book down or stop reading. A train wreck that you can't look away from.
There is zero profanity. Phrases like " Son of a biscuit eater" and "what the frog" pepper the text. If done right, it could have been endearing, but here it just feels campy and unessarry. It adds nothing to the story, almost becoming distracting.
Liz is a horrible person, but the author tries desperately to make her seem like a victim. I couldn't stand her from page one. She is whiney and selfish and self-centered. Fully admitting that she is using all the people around her while crying, "Poor me." Yuck.
This is an arc. It's not published yet. But I still felt as though I had read the book numerous times before. Nothing felt fresh or new.
It did have short chapters. It was fast-paced. It's easy to read and grammatically well done.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
