Cursed, he must be cursed. Everything about Bumper Gaither drew Hale like a moth to a flame. When Bumper walked into the room, time stood still for Hale, and it took all he had not to scale Mount Bumper. Every fiber of Hale's being wanted to throw himself into the big bear's arms. There was one problem. Well not a problem, exactly. How was Hale gonna tell Bumper, that he was a witc...

... ch way was UP! Bumper's head spun, his chest grew tight, all at the sight of the spitfire named Hale McAvoy. Their blistering kiss at his Aunt and Uncle's barbeque left him wanting more, a lot more. However, despite his best efforts, Hale steadfastly refused to go out with him, despite the obvious attraction. That only made Bumper more determined. Like a bulldog with a bone, Bumper was not letting go. So why was Hale so hesitant to go out with him?

*This book is a prequel to the Oswald Witches coming out in the coming months.

I really enjoyed this story; third in the Love and Salvage series by Mathew Ortiz. I love a book series with recurring characters and I think that Hale and Bumper are my favorite duo of the series. Author Ortiz develops excellent background and sub-characters such that you really fall into this story, experiencing the love and heartache and funny moments as they occur. Bumper's family is large, and are a force to be reckoned with in every story of this series. And in every story you get to know them a bit more, and fall in love a bit more. Sweet Hale has a secret that is revealed in this story ... I'm not going to give it away but it will blow your mind!! Halestorm kept me on the edge of my seat, but I'm happy to report that the ending will leave you happy and smiling and wanting more!! I can't wait to read more about Hale and his family! This one is highly recommended if you like a love story with humor, angst, strong family bonds, hot men and hot sex! Go read it now!

What an incredible story line. I think the third book with Hale and Bumper was my favorite. I loved all the love stories I these books but theirs has a little something " extra" in it. The third book defiantly left me wanting more ! I cannot wait for the next book to come out!

Once again, if only the author had a good editor.... Sigh..... Numerous timeline oddities, numerous errors and way too much repeating. Yet likable characters. Sigh....

4.5 star review by The Blogger Girls.

When we last saw Hale and Bumper, they were sharing their first steamy kiss. They’ve been dancing around each other for over a year now. Hale has a secret though, and it is this very secret that is keeping him from getting involved with Bumper. He is a witch, albeit an unpracticing one. But, even though he has tried to distance himself from his family and witchcraft, the walls seem to be closing in on him. He struggles so much with accepting his witchy status and the individual powers associated with it.

Bumper persists and finally wears Hale down to accepting a date. Of course, things go fabulously, and they continue seeing each other. These guys are so sweet. Bumper is this big teddy bear, and Hale is a really cute but powerful little guy. Together, they are perfect together, hot and smexy. Unfortunately, things don’t always go easy for them, as magic and Supernatures invade their space wreaking some havoc.

We are given some details about Hale’s powers and family early on, but it is about halfway through that this story really takes off in the paranormal direction. Witches, wolves, shadows and so much more, starting to play bigger parts. There seems to be a storm brewing, and Hale and his family are front and center in the middle of it. Mr. Ortiz is creating a very interesting world here, drawing you in a little at a time and easing you into it. It still contains what I loved about the previous book, which is down-to-earth, genuine characters, funny, sweet and sexy moments, all wrapped up around a really easy and enjoyable story. We get to see some of the other guys that we’ve already fallen in love with as well, which is always nice.

Mr. Ortiz writes in a way that you can actually picture the characters telling the story, and I found that very refreshing and easy to connect with. It makes you want to be there with them as a part of their family and friends. I am very excited about the paranormal aspects he is introducing. This book is a prequel to a new series about the Oswald Witches, and things really seem to be setting up nicely for that to be very interesting. I know I’m really looking forward to learning more about the Oswald family.

4 Heart Review by Dan

This series just took a 90% turn! We still have Georgia rednecks, but now we also have witches and other things which don’t really belong in a Georgia redneck story. Or do they?

Hale is back as one of the main characters in this third installment of the Love and Salvage series. He is still living in the apartment he exchanged with Emmett when Emmett and Alex started cohabitating LOUDLY in the house he rented with Alex. Hale still has a thing for Bumper Gaither, Emmett’s cousin, who is a huge…burly…hair covered…mountain of a man. Totally drool worthy. And Hale does drool every time he sees him!

Bumper has always thought of himself as not good enough. He was lousy at school, and now works in his family’s bakery. But there is something about Hale McAvoy that just seems to draw him like a moth to a flame. But will Hale even be interested in him? What will happen though when the secret that Hale has been keeping comes out in a huge way right in front of Bumper? Will Bumper be able to look past the hidden aspects of Hale?

This story was very different from the others in the series, because it is the beginning of a lead-in into the Oswald Witches series, “Avaritia” and “Luxuria” which I’ve already reviewed here at Love Bytes Same Sex Reviews, and planned other books in the future. I really enjoy how Matt ties together the different stories from his different series, making it all one big happy world. Tying the Gaithers and the Oswalds together in this series was great pre-planning on his part.

I recommend this book, and this series. As one final tease, I would have to say that the sex scenes in this book are the hottest of the series so far. There is lots of rimming and loads and loads of dirty…frosted fur…man sex. Matt does write a good sex scene. So pick it up today. Again, I recommend you read them in order so that you know who all the characters are. Enjoy!

I enjoyed the last 2 books in this series (yes, I have a soft spot for some good ole country boys) and the introduction of some paranormal elements made this one even better. How can you not love Bumper? It is impossible, and Hale, under that snarky exterior is a sweetheart. Just a fun, happy making read

I enjoyed the story but the grammatical errors made it a bit difficult to read. Many sentences didn't flow right. It was a bit frustrating.

Halestorm

What a storm to get caught in and just like Bumper I was happy to be caught. Matt is just getting better and better. By the way I enjoyed very much.
