Fans of epic Tracy Hickman, Brandon Sanderson, and Daniel Arenson will appreciate a new epic series by Ronald Long.
A self-proclaimed savior. A bumbling goblin henchman. A general late to meet his troops. A man with no memory awash on the shore. Each will play a role in brutal war that will cover the land of Ruyn.
Ealrin Bealouve is a man with no past. Found on the shores of Good Harbor along with the wreckage of his ship, he learns that the continent of Ruyn will soon be plunged into darkness and conflict. Tasked with preserving peace and upholding the ancient traditions of unifying the races of elves, dwarves, and men, Ealrin journeys towards a fight that, with each passing day, becomes intertwined with who he will choose to become.
Follow a dynamic cast of characters and discover that the fate of a continent rests on the shoulders of those who are willing to give their lives to protect what they hold most dear. For Ealrin, only fate can say whether he'll survive the coming war.
Book Description: An age of peace endures on the continent of Ruyn.
The Goblin invasions were over. The grey beasts no longer sailed from the west. The joint armies of Thoran and The Southern Republic broke and defeated the raiders who menaced their lands and cities. Merchant ships sailed without fear of piracy.
But with the tide comes a new unrest.
A fallen politician has gathered an army and spreads his prophecy of a coming doom. Conflict brews in the south and unrest grows in the mountains.
In the face of the crumbling peace, a lone monarch struggles to hold the line between a hundred years of tranquility and brutal chaos.
The world's hopes may lay on the shores of a remote island settlement where a man washes ashore with the remains of a ship. He has no crew, no purpose, and for all he can remember, no past.
When he wakes, he'll find the tides are not the only thing that change around him.

I saw a bunch of reviews for this on Amazon, saying the editing was terrible...to which the Author replied he is fixing it. That was back in April - I got this a few days back...only saw a few mistakes. And those didn't detract from my reading flow.
Anyways - good book...I feel like it was all a setup for book 2. I liked the world building, the different point of views was well done as well. Helped build a bigger picture...but again, it felt a lot like a introduction then a complete novel to me.
I would pick up the 2nd book for sure, if I can remember to keep checking for it as I'm very curious to see who the main character actually is.
I liked how even with memory loss, he wasn't some uber warrior already, he could hold his own but by no means was he the best.
A strong story between races of men elves an dwarfs and the battles to keep the peace due to an evil force trying to take over...don't take my word for it read it and form your own opinion
I really like the story, the mystery of the main character, wondering when it was going to be revealed, and the growing intolerance between different species (not altogether untimely despite the book being several years old). I'm working on book #2 now!
This was an excellent first book with a fast moving story and very likeable characters. If you like some classic good versus evil like I do then you will enjoy the adventure of Ealrin and his new allies. He may have other allies but he wouldn't remember since he lost his memory completely and was found by Holve in the shores of a small island and nursed back to health. It is hard to say if his past will have any bearing on the future but time will tell as I read on to book two in the Sword Chronicles series.
This book is very very good! Even though I enjoyed it very much I can't afford to pay for#2, as much as I would like to! Please read if you enjoy a good fantasy with great characters!
While I really got engaged by the story and the characters it took a long time getting there. The book still has serious problems. It needs a lot of editing, has major problems with extra words, missing words and incorrect words. There are so many characters and place names it is difficult to keep track of who is where in relation to other party members. Book flow is not good either. Many times you have forgotton characters or places by the time you return to them. I also read the novella The Elves of Talgel right after. Again, editing is a huge problem. I do realize this can be expensive but early readers will often help. So about the book. Slow start just because of the large number of characters and places to be introduced.Lots of action and the main characters grow to be someone you might like to know. Their world has known peace among the human, eleven and dwarf population for 100 years but now a new movement has begun to clense the land of all but man. They join with monsters to wipe out any opposition. Lots of fighting. People must choose sides, good vs. evil, how can one man who has no memory save this world? This book was offered free from the author for review. Please don't get discouraged. Well edited, it would rate 4 stars or better.
