User Stories....Unleashed

Rate this book
According to the 2012 CHAOS report, Agile succeeds three times more often than waterfall. So it is no surprise to learn that 49% of businesses say most of their company is using Agile development. Agile relies on simple user stories rather than complex, overly detailed requirements documents. No wonder we have come to love user stories. They are so easy to write; now we don’t even have to rely on the IT team to produce requirements. Whoever developed this simple framework for letting project teams write requirements as user stories is clearly a genius.

Who needs the WBS and the lengthy, detailed, multiple headings requirements document when you can have a backlog full of user stories to work on? This is quite a concept, which follows the ingenious logic of the Agile Manifesto.

Although all true, one is reminded of the wisdom “that if something is too good to be true….. it probably is.” So what happens when those user stories “become unleashed”, that is, they break out from the backlog and now must be turned into working software.

User Stories… Unleashed will examine the three necessary elements of an Agile project and how they must work in concert to make your Agile journey successful:

Good for what it is

Domestic try to be the all around reference for agile development and user stories. But for some who is just starting with user stories like me it's a good primer.
