The haunting third book in the Best Selling Visitors Series.
“When I first moved here I was still a girl who cherished the normality of teen life. Now, after being here a year I had come to love a boy who was both strong and courageous. I made real friendships that would last even after death. The selfish girl my grandmother warned me of becoming had vanished. A girl who stood tall, with the powers to see the dead and help those in need, appeared in her place.”
In Brylee’s world, nothing is normal. She sees and speaks with the dead and, at seventeen years old, she already has a full plate. She’s in her senior year of high school and college is just around the corner, but only if she learns to control her gifts and survive in the land of the living.
She has succeeded in ridding her boyfriend, Ephraim, from the Brown family curse, but, in the end, her best friend loses her life. Now a whole slew of new problems presents itself and, like always, Brylee is tempted to run for the hills. With Ephraim at her side, she must come to grips with the reality that she is not an average girl and she never will be.
What will happen when the town turns on her? Or, better yet, when a body is unearthed in her backyard? The choices that Brylee must make will determine whether she has a future or nothing at all.
Christy Sloat resides in New Jersey with her husband, two daughters and her Chihuahua, Sophie. Christy has embraced the love of reading and writing since her youth and was inspired by her grandmother's loving support. She loves adventurous journeys with her friends and can be known to get lost inside a bookstore. She is the Best Selling author of ten novels including; The Visitors Series, The Past Lives Series and Slumber.
The White Door is the third book in Christy Sloat's Visitor Series. In the first two books we learn about Brylee Branson, a California native whose family falls on hard times and must move across the country for a job. Once in their new, very affordable home Brylee discovers a talent she hadn't been in tune with before. Brylee discovers the home her family moved into has quite a history, and in that history could be Brylee's future, or her end. Time will only tell.
As we ended The Crimson Key, the second book in The Visitor's Series, Brylee had just lost Lynley, discovered a deep Mayhew family secret, and Ephraim-Brylee's boyfriend and Lynley's brother-had moved in to the Branson home, or better known as, The Brown House. Lynley, in spirit, and Brylee begin their senior year of high school, and a new girl is waiting.
The White Door opens with the girls first day, and carries on to deliver a throughly enjoyable read. The new girl at school holds a new secret, Lynley faces her own challenges, and the Branson family is about to change, forever. Brylee starts to learn more about her gift in working with Hala (to whom Brylee made a promise in The Crimson Key). As she learns more about her gift she learns things are certainly not always how they look, and she brings relief and comfort to some families in need. Brylee's father and mother have some time away, and a hurricane rolls through The Brown House. After the hurricane, some deep secrets are revealed, a town is outraged, and nothing will ever be the same for Kayla, and others. But is the outrage directed at the home, the Branson's, or is it really stirred by the new circumstance...a spirit or the reason for the curse-Evangeline surfaces again. We learn more about Kayla and her past, and a romantic truth is revealed. We meet a new character, and I for one am wondering where he comes in to play in the future of Brylee Branson. Brylee has some close calls with spirits as they gain strength, but she regains strength in herself as well! She finds the faith in herself that was always there as others encourage her and seek her guidance. And then...travisty, relief, closure, and devistation occurs. Things will never be the same for Brylee Branson, Eprhaim Mayhew, Lynley, Kayla, or the rest of the Branson family, and those connected to The Brown House. This book proves to be the thriller it was written for. You feel a sense of evolution and as life changes you follow the journey of discovery. We end closure, peace, comfort, and life changes ahead for all. Book 4 is sure to be an interesting adventure ahead for the Branson/Mayhew families.
Thoughts and feelings: This book is all I expected and more. I wanted SO long to have my hands on this, to find out the fate of Lynley, to see if there would ever be peace in The Brown House, and follow where Brylee and Ephraim go in their lives. We learn about potential career paths, we learn about future hopes and dreams, and start journies with them. We find out what is going on back home in California, Brylee learns some hard family truths, and may even end up feeling abandoned, but in the end. I do believe one of my all time favorite scenes in the book is when Ehpraim has the chance to be the saving grace. I won't spoil to much, but certainly, in this book we see Ephraim more in a husband/spouse light than the silly cute boy next door. The White Door delivers an ecstacy filled euphoria of adventure, discovery, and truth for all involved in The Brown House. Easily a five star read that I greatly enjoyed!
This book was amazing ! I have been waiting for this one and it didn't disappoint at all. Brylee again showed how amazingly strong she is. I cried for her and laughed with her. There was a lot of action as always. Ephraim is still the sweetest most caring guy ever. He is there for Brylee every step of the way. I can't wait for more.
4.0. This was a nice conclusion to the series. It was mysterious, suspenseful, and sweet, and it was better edited than the previous two books.
Plot: The end of The Crimson Key was bittersweet because Brylee was able to save Ephraim from the curse, but Lynn died. Brylee also knew that Evangeline was out there somewhere waiting to get her power back. The White Door picks up soon after. Brylee is waiting for Evangeline’s return, starting her senior year of high school, applying to colleges, working with Hala to channel her gifts, and dealing with her parents desire to go back to California. As if that isn’t enough to deal with, the townspeople have decided that the Branson’s house is evil and they want to tear it down.
Characters: Brylee has grown so much since The Brown House. She has not only become stronger and braver, but also more patient and understanding. She is still critical of her parents (understandably), and she still says things that irritate me, but I like her 100 times more than I did in the first book.
Ephraim shows incredible strength in The White Door, especially considering that he’s lost everything except for Brylee. I really admired that he was trying to plan for the future (not just his and Brylee’s). Most importantly we got to see him be the protector this time around, and we learn that he is using his own gifts for something positive.
Per the curse, Lyn and Violet are still in the house. I liked Lyn in the previous books, but she has really found her niche as a ghost. All of the ghosts in this book have stepped it up a notch. Hala also appears, but she isn’t involved in a lot of the action.
In terms of obstacles, Brylee’s parents return. Thought they are kind of absent, they are around enough for us to learn that her father is against Ephraim living with them and wanting to move back to Cali. We also learn that Brylee’s mom is keeping all kinds of secrets.
Finally, Evangeline returns. I can’t say a lot without spoiling anything, but she definitely creates a huge sense of hopelessness.
Writing: I was pleasantly surprised at how much better edited The White Door was as compared to the previous two.
The Bottom Line: The White Door will give readers of the series the sense of closure that they are looking for. Some characters depart, and that is kind of sad. Also, the final showdown seemed a little rushed, but I liked the way it played out. I also appreciated how Sloat made it clear that Ephraim respected and loved Brylee enough not to interfere in her future. Speaking of futures, things were pointing in a great direction at the end of the book. All in all, it was a pretty good read.
I spent Valentine’s 2014 giddy with excitement at finally getting my hands on The White Door. This is the highly anticipated Book 3 of The Visitor’s Series. I can safely say that it was all that I expected and more. There are big changes in store for all the players this time around. Through this series we have watched Brylee Branson develop her talent as a medium and grow from a selfish, spoiled brat into a caring, selfless young woman. Despite losing her best friend, Lynley Mayhew, Brylee comes out stronger and more determined to harness her ability as a medium. With the help of Hala, she sets out to do just that. Ephraim also plays a bigger, better role this time around. He is no longer just the sappy teenage boy next door. Ephraim has grown in a man and protector for the Branson family.
We open with Brylee starting her senior year of high school. Ephraim living in the spare bedroom with the Bransons and Mr. & Mrs. Branson seriously considering moving back to California. Brylee is also working with Hala to help better understand her abilities and is applying that talent to bring hope and relief to others. As a hurricane hits Wilson, New Jersey secrets are brought to light. The town is rocked once again by occurrences at the Brown House and its people turn on the Branson family and the house itself. Enter Evangeline, who has returned to regain her power that is locked away in the Brown House. She will stop at nothing to get back her power and cut down anyone who gets in her way. Brylee must find a way to protect herself from Evangline’s attacks, harness her powers, and help restless ghosts find peace to cross over all while trudging through her senior year of high school. Her life is nothing if not complicated.
If you are new to this series I strongly recommend you read it in order. You will not be disappointed. The Brown House lays the foundation for an excellent story. The Crimson Key dives right into the action as the curse continues. Finally The White Door gives you the closure you have been waiting for. This spine tingling, edge of your seat series that will grip its readers from page one.

Amazing book. Amazing author. This book keeps you turning pages from beginning to end. The characters make you feel as if you know them personally. This has definitely got some surprise turns in it. Well worth reading.
Now here's a fabulously suspenseful YA paranormal book!! It just continues to get better & better. Honestly, I have been hooked since The Brown House. Although out of the four books in this series this has been by far my favorite! I highly suggest this series for any paranormal lover!!!! I read them in this order: The Brown House (Book 1), The Crimson Key (Book 2), Unfound (Novella), & The White Door (Book 3). The Brown House had the perfect amount of fear factor mixed with so many other emotions, introducing us to the crucial characters while ensuring we'd come back for more. The Crimson Key was even better & brought out a few new characters I grew to love (& a few I loved to hate.) Unfound totally WOWed me, & I am hopeful Christy will bring us a few more novellas for the other characters we can't get enough of. Now...The White Door was so much more than I'd hoped it would be. We are transported into Brylee's world as we experience everything 1st hand. The characters are more intense than ever before, & several answers are unearthed. Now don't you think I'm ready to say goodbye to anyone! It's too soon & there's so much more I want to know. Here's hoping Sloat plans to continue this series as I will soon need my next Brylee & Ephraim fix. I see so many options of greatness to come. Can't wait for more!
The White Door by Christy Sloat is the 3rd book in the Visitors Series - a YA series about a girl who sees and communicates with ghosts. I am a big fan of this series and this book did not disappoint. The characters in this series are amazing and the story is well-written and well-paced. There is a lot of action and romance...and also a lot of spookiness. This book could be the end of the series because issues that carried over from books 1 & 2 are resolved. But Ms. Sloat leaves the reader wanting to know how Brylee uses her special ability to help other people and I can see the series continuing with that as the premise for new books. I definitely recommend this book (and this series) to fans of YA books with a spooky aspect.
This was a phenomenal and fun read. I still was in love with the characters and felt that this is by far my favorite story yet. I really enjoyed the excitement and adventure and the plot itself just blew my mind away. I loved all the twists and turns throughout this story and I was extremely addicted from beginning to end. This author has an incredible writing style that entertains us for hours of fun and excitement, and keeps us wanting more. I highly recommend this entire series. It’s a refreshing and invigorating new look into an extremely exciting paranormal world.
I received an e-ARC copy of this book, for a blog tour, in return for an honest review.
The White Door continues the story of Brylee Branson being able to control her gifts and to be comfortable in her own skin despite all the obstacles in her way. Christy Sloat continues to make me fall in love all over again with her characters and their new story in this one of a kind, paranormal story. Her characters have a personality of their own and it has flowed in this complete series. If you haven't read The Visitor's Series which consists of The Brown House, The Crimson Key, The White Door, and Unfound I strongly encourage you to do so. You'll understand why The Visitor's Series is one of my most favorite series.
Christy Sloat has outdone herself with The White Door. This book brings a close to one part of Brylee's life and opens many more doors for her. Like all the other books in the Visitor's Series this book was to good to put down. I can't wait to see what happens next in Brylee's life.
This is the third and final book and loved everything. Once again the plot centers around Brylee and The Brown House. She is learning how to use her gift as a medium amd helping others cross over. Then, Evangeline, the witch comes back trying to hurt Brylee and get her powers back? Can Brylee save herself and the ghosts of Brown house? Definitely recommend this whole series be read in order.
This series wrapped up perfectly! I'm sad to see it end, because I love these characters, but the ending was so intense and so perfectly written! I'm definitely a fan of this author's writing after reading the Visitor's series and I plan to check out her other books as well. If you love a good creepy story, a lot of intense moments, great characters, and a story you can get lost in...you should read this series! It does not disappoint!
I rated this 4 stars NOT for the writing quality, but simply because I enjoyed how the story played itself out. If you're looking for something deep, and intricate, this isn't it. But I still really enjoyed it.

Amazing book. Amazing author. This book keeps you turning pages from beginning to end. The characters make you feel as if you know them personally. This has definitely got some surprise turns in it. Well worth reading.
The White Door is the third book in the series and by far my favorite book. In The White Door we see how Brylee Branson (the main character) has grown as a person and how she has embraced her gift as a medium. She has become a strong woman and a loving girlfriend to Ephraim. The curse is still affecting the Brown house and after the Crimson Key has claimed the life of Brylee's best friend Lynlee which she is seriously saddened and troubled about. Just as Brylee is adjusting to all the changes in her life with Ephraim moving into her house, the thought of never getting the chance to say goodbye to her friend Lynlee or being able to save her, she is haunted by what Agnes (one of the Barclay sisters) says as Brylee locks Evangeline's power behind the corner room door, that Evangeline will be back to get her power back.
The things I enjoyed about this book and the series overall is that friendship is everlasting even in death, the historical mysteries and secrets that unfold through the series, and I enjoyed Brylee's courage to help and sacrifice her needs for that of others. Although it was a ghostly and sometimes creepy read The Brown House series was intriguing and genuine.
This is the final book in the Visitor Series and it did not disappoint. Brylee is still living in the Brown house and is now starting her senior year in high school. This should be the best year of her life but since Ephraim has already graduated and Lynley seems to be tied up a lot lately, that leaves Brylee to face it alone. That's fine though because there is a new girl in town, Sophie, and since Brylee knows how hard it is to be the new girl, she decides it will be her mission to become her friend. Brylee and Sophie become fast friends but there is something a little off about her new friend. Brylee doesn't know if it's her unique French customs or what but something just doesn't seem right. Brylee is also still working alongside Hala to hone her gift as a medium and in return she has promised to help some of Hala's friends with their ghost issues. After helping a few people find closure, Brylee realizes that she loves her gift and wants to use it to help others find peace too. After a strange incident with Kayla, Brylee is introduced to Richard who helps her and she is able to help him and Kayla in return. I adored this book. It had the perfect ending to a wonderfully mysterious and chilling series!
Fantastic ending to a phenomenal series! I love this story and the characters! I love how the 3 books flow as 1 continuous story. Poor Brylee can't seem to catch a brake! She knows stripping Evangeline of her powers was only a temporary fix, and now she is mourning the loss of her very best friend and trying to help Ephriam bear the loss of his sister. There is so much going on in this book, there is never ever a dull moment! There are some really happy moments and some really sad moments in this book, but all in all, I am happy with how this all came together and feel satisfied, not feeling like I am left with un-answered questions, or unhappy with the ending. Plus there is that fantastic companion novella, 'Unfound', I am off to read :) I am rather curious tho, it ended with "To be continued..." so that's pretty exciting!! I may not feel like I need to know what happens next, but I do love Brylee's adventures, and I would love to see where the possibilities take her!
I absolutely loved The White Door by Christy Sloat. Having read the entirety of this series it brings it to a whole new world for all of the characters. Christy is an amazing storyteller who pulls you into the dark world of her characters. I am a huge Brylee Branson fan. She's such a strong female character with a whole lot of fight in her. The story brings the Brown House series to a close with a bang and an unexpected end to one of the stories of one of my favorite characters. I believe in the world beyond and The White Door doesn't dissappoint. It's got romance, intrigue, ghosts of course, and a curse that needs to be ended once and for all. This is a great book and I recommend this series to everyone! Christy is a wordsmith of the highest regard and I'm looking forward to more of her incredibly entertaining stories!
The perfect YA paranormal read, I have enjoyed every book in the series and this one was quite possibly the best so far. Well written and fast paced, I was completely gripped from the start. None of the characters are perfect and they all have issues which they must deal with, giving the book a more realistic approach and I find this much more enjoyable to read. There was definitely a feel of closure with this book, but with enough left open that the possibilities are endless as to the direction the series could go in. Wherever it leads, I can’t wait to read more.
I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I have been anxiously awaiting the release of The White Door since I read The Brown House and The Crimson Key in July of last year. It was nice to be back with Brylee and Ephraim, as well as Lynley and Kayla. Brylee has to take on a lot of responsibility with her parents taking off for a cruise with an impending hurricane, starting her senior year of high school, her mother revealing a shocking secret, her parents going to Cali to help with her grandma, and don't forget her helping ghost cross over. Be sure to set aside a few hours, grab your favorite beverage and hunker down for a great time.
This book was perfect! I couldn't wait to read it and I couldn't put it down, the story was full of surprises and the book was excellent. The book was well written, the plot was well developed. I couldn't put it down. The characters are easy to relate to. Bryn was an excellent main character and Ephraim was a perfect balance for her. I thought this book was one of the best paranormal books I have read in quiet a long time! Hard to beat and the best part is that my son is hooked on this series as well. Excellent read for Young Adults and Adults.
Another fantastic read. This was an amazing series that just kept getting better. I can't wait to read the spin off series. I really enjoy Christy Sloat's writing style. The characters are fantastic and the story just pulls you in. I read this book in one day. I highly recommend this series and all of Christy Sloat's work. The more I read by her, the more impressed I am.
It was a fantastic book.. the perfect end to the series.. or is it? There were parts where I almost cried like when her grandma came into her dream and she knew that she passed away when her mom called to tell her and when she had to leave Ephraim to move into the dorms at college. I really hope that she writes a fourth book to this though. :)

This book is best when read following the other two in the series. I was engrossed in these books from the start. In book#3 Brylee is left trying to fight Agnes one of the witches who placed a curse on the family who once lived there. Now she must protect herself, and Ephraim from any more harm that might come to them. She will do whatever it takes to free the ghosts who are trapped in her home.
I loved this series! It was one of those books I couldn't put down. I have to admit I'm kind of dad to see it end. I think Christy ended it on a great note with everyone happy and moving forward after so much bad happening.
