Whenever I read a blurb with a plot as far-fetched as the one in 'Misconceptions', I'm always curious. And here's why: is the author in on the joke, I wonder? Or is he/she actually going to try to make us 'believe' this? Here's the deal. A twenty-five year old woman on contraception who has intercourse with a dude wearing a condom gets pregnant. Yeah, okay ... but here's the kicker-- with QUADRUPLETS, y'all. So I had to see how this would get pulled off, because as a writer myself, I wouldn't have the stones to even attempt it.

So let me end the suspense. This author, Blu Daniels pulled it off-- she was definitely in on the joke, because in 'Misconceptions', right off the bat she calls herself out by opening with a journal entry by the main character Alexandria (Alex) proclaiming the sheer implausibility of her situation, backed up with that authority of all authorities, Wikipedia. That was my first laugh out loud moment. (There were many, many more in this book.) But she also made us believe in the situation because this was no cartoonish portrayal of a pregnancy with multiples. While there were madcap and amusing moments, there was also bloating, swelling, health complications, life-threatening scares ... and bodily fluids.

So my second source of skepticism about this book was that I really have a hard time with romances where the guy is a prick ninety percent of the time and the woman just takes it, and tells herself she loves him anyway. This wasn't exactly that kind of book, and it wasn't NOT that kind of book, either. Bad Habit, which is what the main character Alex nicknames her man, is a prick for ninety percent of the story. He's emotionally distant, sometimes an outright asshole and very seldom what one could consider a decent human being.

But here's the thing, Blu Daniels gives us all this through Alex's POV, and though we love her (because her goofy ass is nothing if not lovable), we just KNOW that Alex is an unreliable narrator. She doesn't see Bad Habit clearly, and since we're only seeing him through her eyes, we know we aren't seeing the whole picture either. At points, though, Blu Daniels gives us hints that he isn't the person Alex believes he is, and hence, not the person we believe him to be either. And so somewhere along the line, somehow, you fall in love with him too.

I started reading it around 8PM, having planned to read something else entirely, but my creative curiosity got the better of me and I started reading, asking, 'let's see if she can pull this off' and boy did she ever. I was done by 3AM, smiling the entire time. Man, the indie community is just a wellspring of talent.

Book Review: Misconceptions

Title: Misconceptions
Author: Blu Daniels
Genre: Grumpy/Sunshine, Accidental Pregnancy, Billionaire Adjacent Romance
Pairing: A Perfect Old Fashioned
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️ (Medium-Hot, focused on high tension and emotional barriers)

The Pour: Earning the Implausible (5/5 Stars)

I pour my bourbon neat, and I like my fiction the same way: strong, complex, and utterly compelling. As a seasoned reader and frankly, a tough critic, a book must have that rare, magnetic quality that compels me to keep it on standby for a guaranteed reread. Misconceptions has that quality. It is an unforgettable, absorbing masterpiece that earns every one of its five stars.

The premise—Alexandria (Alex), on contraception, having a fling with a condom-using man, and ending up catastrophically pregnant with quadruplets—is so outrageous it should have collapsed under its own weight. The narrative risk here was immense. Yet, Blu Daniels didn’t just meet the challenge; she executed a flawless narrative high-wire act. By having Alex humorously address the implausibility herself through a journal entry referencing Wikipedia, the author immediately acknowledged the absurdity, earned my immediate trust, and established the perfect tone of self-aware, chaotic humor that carries the entire book.

Character Distillation

The core of this novel lies in the brilliant character work. Alex is initially presented as a delightful, if slightly superficial, study in designer labels and denial. Watching her be distilled by the reality of her high-risk pregnancy into a woman of genuine mettle, depth, and fierce resilience is the true emotional payoff.

Then there is her lover, "Bad Habit." He is the quintessential prickly, emotionally distant hero, often frustratingly unkind. However, Daniels masterfully uses Alex as an unreliable narrator. We only see his actions filtered through her initial confusion and hurt. Subtle, almost cinematic clues hint at his hidden protectiveness and emotional baggage. This narrative sleight-of-hand means we, the readers, find ourselves complicit in the slow, agonizing reveal of his better nature, making his eventual steps toward redemption incredibly satisfying.

The Finish

The book’s strength is in its masterful balance. It’s hilariously witty—the family interactions are genuine and funny—but it never shies away from the daunting physical and emotional realities of expecting multiples. The core tension, driven by Bad Habit’s maddening communication failures and questionable behavior, feels earned, driving the plot forward and investing the reader completely in Alex’s journey to force him to finally step up.

By the final pages, I was fully invested in this chaotic, complex love story. The ending provides a deeply satisfying closure while leaving just enough of a lingering, smoky finish to make the promised sequel—told from Bad Habit’s perspective—essential reading. I rarely give out five stars, but this book completely absorbed me and will absolutely be on my reread rotation.

What I Savored (The Smooth Finish) 🥃
When I reflect on the experience of reading Misconceptions, the following elements were the smoothest, most enjoyable part of the pour:

🥃 The Audacious Premise & Self-Aware Humor: The ridiculousness of the quadruplet accidental pregnancy—especially a man who always uses a condom and a woman on the pill—was so high-stakes that it almost made me flinch. But Blu Daniels pulled it off. I loved that the story didn't just ignore the implausibility; it embraced it right from the start (with Alex referencing Wikipedia). This immediately earned my trust and established a humorous, highly engaging, and trustworthy tone for the rest of the book.

🥃 Alex's Character Distillation: I deeply connected with Alex's journey. She begins as a delightful, albeit "shallow and self-absorbed," character, concerned mostly with fashion. Watching the high-risk pregnancy strip away the superficial layers and distill her into a woman of "genuine mettle, depth, and fierce resilience" was the true emotional payoff for me.

🥃 The Narrator's Filter: The subtle use of Alex as an unreliable narrator was a brilliant narrative move. Because I only saw "Bad Habit's" actions filtered through her initial confusion and hurt, it created great suspense and made his slow emotional reveal far more powerful and satisfying when it finally arrived.

🥃 Masterful Balance of Tone: The book masterfully balanced "humor with serious themes." I found the witty dialogue and genuine family interactions kept the story light, while the authentic depiction of a high-risk pregnancy provided necessary, deep emotional weight.

What I Side-Eyed (The Bitter Jolt) 🥃
The bitter jolt—the element that tested my patience and made me squint at the glass—was purely centered on the hero:

🥃 Bad Habit's Slow Development: The most significant frustration was the "slow development of Bad Habit's character." I felt his internal journey took too long to surface, making him abrasive for extended periods.

🥃 Maddening Behavior: I found his persistent "lack of communication and questionable behavior, including implied infidelity," to be genuinely "maddening." It certainly added tension, but it definitely tested my patience and made me question whether he deserved Alex's ultimate redemption.

The Perfect Pairing

This book is best paired with a Perfect Old Fashioned. Why? Because it takes a simple, classic formula—spirit, sugar, bitters—and demands flawless execution. Misconceptions is a seemingly simple premise that is elevated to perfection by the precision of the narrative.

Alex moves back home to New York to start her career and get her life on track, but soon after arriving, she discovers she is pregnant. Not only is she pregnant, but she is expecting quadruplets. After her career path is derailed and since she's expecting not only one, but four babies, she decides to move to Atlanta, where Bad Habit lives. Bad Habit was a year-long fling that resulted in the unplanned pregnancy.

The story was told from Alex's point of view, and covered nine months of her life.

An easy read with some funny moments, but I didn't care for the characters. At first I thought I might like Alex, she seemed like a smart young woman trying to start a great life for herself, but instead she ended up being flighty and superficial. Bad Habit was arrogant and selfish, and for some reason Alex spent all her time trying to get him to care about her, which he didn't. Though some parts were humorous, I felt more irritated by Alex than anything.

Onlooker traffic jam!

This story played out like a bad accident I just couldn't look away from! As I got further into it, I kept wondering why? Why is she putting up with this mess? Why is he like this? And why am I still reading this train wreck of a story? But I suppose that was the point because I kept going and at times couldn't put it down! In the end I still don't have the answers to all my questions, but I did sense a shift towards the end of the story. And if by book 2, the author redeems these characters in my eyes, then kudos to her. And although the finished product could have used better editing, the content sucked me in and wouldn't let me go!

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
So, I enjoy humour in my romance and this looked fun. It was, but with real emotional drama too. When we first meet Alex she's having a fling – well a 12 month or so fling – with someone we just get to know as Bad Habit. She's about to move cross country for work, and he's sort of asking her to stay, but only sort of, as he's a bit of a jerk who doesn't commit to more than hot sex with her. They don't date, don't go out in public, but just have this weird relationship based on sex, OK hot, erotic sex but that's it. I felt she deserved more, and although she seemed confident on the outside that she was insecure inside. That's why she wouldn't ask him for more as she feels he'll just go...and she doesn't really think she deserves more. She's quite shallow in a way, obsessed by appearances, and really has little interest in anything but fashion, her ambition and Michelle Obama. Yes. Michelle is her real hero, a woman who's always put together, confident and has a happy family around her. Its kind of sad in a way, Alex parents and family love her, but she's still searching for something more. Recognition? I don't really know – I just get this feel of emptiness from her.
Anyway there she is in her new job, and living back with family while she finds her feet and wham! She finds out she's pregnant.....that's a shock, she's on the pill and Bad Habit always uses condoms. For several weeks it seems she just puts it out of her mind, and ignores it. She's still on probation at work so medical insurance won't kick in til she's been there three months, and she could buy a pair of Laboutins for the cost of a doctors visit, so she doesn't do anything about it. Then she finally goes to doc, she's been feeling pretty grim, and still at the back of her mind she seems to think the three pregnancy tests could be wrong...shock no two- Four babies! Then on the same day, on top of that shocker, a works merger leaves her jobless with no benefits as she's still not been there the three months. Her head is spinning, thoughts of her poor parents tiny house with her and four babies in it....for someone whose hardest decision til now has been which shoes to pair with which outfit she's in hell.
We get all this from her journal, packed with humour via the way she writes and thinks. You can't help smiling when this poor girl goes from fahionista to pregnant mum of four....what a life change. True to form Bad Habit doesn't return her calls and texts, finally she has to text him she's pregnant and....he asks if its his, all the jerk things you expect from him.
Then from questioning whether he's the father, and wanting nothing to do with being one, once she's jobless and potentially homeless ( parents house isn't really on with four babies) he suddenly takes over. .. sends her a plane ticket and moves her in. the sex is as hot as ever, and we see more of him but yes, he is the real jerk he seemed. She's stuck in the house, growing larger by the day, missing family and friends, yet he's out working and living it up, coming back smelling of perfume and bringing her to the edge with jealousy. Generally behaving as he did before she moved in. She decides she's got to make him fall in love with her, and sets about being Miss Perfect Housewife. Sadly she's an awful lot to learn, and there's some funny moments til she does. There's incidents with police, incidents with neighbours, disruptions to the quiet life BH had before...Alex seems to come with disaster attached. She's trapped in a house with no friends and only BH for company, and all he seems to do is be asleep or want sex. Communication? Nope not happening. Her attempts to get him to fall in love are really funny, not that she intends that. And...its seeping away at her, she's getting huge, abandoned the power suits for baggy sweats and feels a mess.
I kept wondering why she bothered, BH was such an awful person, uncaring and callous it seemed. Though she's still shallow, and at times makes decisions that wanted me to tear my hair out, I still felt she deserved proper support. Then things go further awry, and he seems to be a bit different for a while. I felt he was coming round to being the person she needed, and maybe there were some kinds of excuse for his behaviour. She's not the easiest of people to live with, scatty, over dramatic and at times a walking disaster. Maybe there were some excuses? But not for the playing away, the womanising, that's never right! No excuses for that...IMO of course. We see a potential different side to BH, and maybe something of what attracts Alex. She's struggling though and almost given up. I really felt for her, some of her diary jottings were funny but sometimes they were heartbreaking. She couldn't help the situation they were in and yet it seemed she was the only one bearing the cost of it.
Its ends beautifully, and can be read as a standalone with the reader imagining their future but...there's a snippet of book two at the end, and its from BH voice, shows his thoughts which aren't always his actions. Its set about a year or so after this, and just when I think he's changed...there's mention of a Tiffany and it seems he's been playing away ...arghhh B* stard, jerk, how could he after all that had happened? I want that book now!
Stars: I'm hovering over five, but its not quite that – four and a half.

Misconceptions by Blu Daniels
4.5 out of 5 Stars
Misconceptions starts with Alex saying good bye to her lover, “Bad Habit”, the night before she moves to Washington DC to start her new job. Everything is going great and she is making friends until she becomes ill and her new boss asks her if she’s pregnant. Alex denies being pregnant but then takes a test and is very surprised by the results. When difficulties at work start to arise, Alex contacts Bad Habit who moves her to his new location in Atlanta. The couple decides to go through the pregnancy together but their relationship faces many questions and series issues.

In the beginning of the book, Alex seems very shallow. She is more worried about clothes and name brands than anything else. It is not until half way through that Alex gains mother like qualities, but she always seemed to be more invested in the relationship than Bad Habit. Bad Habit seems to have Alex, and by default the baby, in Atlanta just to do the right thing. While I would have liked to have seen more, Bad Habit does redeem himself a little toward the end.

I did enjoy this book and would recommend it. At the end there is a chapter of a second book that is told from Bad Habit's point of view, hopefully it will clarify what he was feeling a little better. I will read that as well and look forward to getting more of the storyline.

So, I wanted to give this book more stars but just couldnt because I hated Bad Habit (Our main male character in the book). Hated the way he treated her, hated the way she acted around him, and just kept expecting something, damn just anything to change.
Alex has a friend with benefits, although you couldnt really call him a friend since he is an ass. She decides to see him one last time before she leaves town (D.C.) to go back to NY. She loses her resolve and sleeps with him. In the process she comes pregant. And no of course its not a normal pregnancy but against all odds, and the use of multiple contraceptives, she is carrying quadruplets. Once she finally convinces the baby daddy that she is really pregnant and he is the father, he tells her that she is going to move to his home in Atlanta. Which is obviously crazy since they cant seem to stand each other, at least he treats her like crap constantly. Hijinks insue, of course, we still learn very little about Bad Habit, not even his name until the last page.
But I have to say, the book sucked me in and I read it in one sitting. So despite my hate of Bad Habit, and all the actions of those surrounding him, I still enjoyed the book to some degree. Not sure if I will read the follow up thats from his point of view, because I read the little excerpt that was at the end and it still didnt completely sell me on liking him. He just needs some redeeming qualities dammit!

Misconceptions is an African American romantic comedy about how just when you think your life is going beautifully, fate kicks your butt and puts you in your place.

This book was incredibly funny. I read it late at night and had to sit on the couch so my laughter wouldnt wake my sleeping husband. I 110% liked Alex, and Bad Habit too! They were classically funny, and the stuff she got herself into reminded me of I Love Lucy. A truly funny story that I definitely recommend.

Blu Daniels' "Misconceptions" is super cute, funny and wholly relatable in all the right places (the feeling of finally feeling like a mom, the confusion of dealing with an unemotionally unavailable man). Even when the heroine made me want to scream, I loved her. The author also did a great job peeling back Bad Habit's layers and flaws. Of course, "Misconceptions" is also laugh out loud funny. I chuckled my way through the entire book. All in all, this author's voice is refreshing. Loved it.

Pregnant and Crazy

Alex is feisty young woman with goals. In the toughest city in the country she is rarely seen without designer clothes and bags. One wild night with Bad Habit and she is going to be a mother. I'm going to say if you see the number of pregnancy test she took you know how many babies she is going to have. I had a few qualms with the book. Alexandria was a brat! She wanted her way even after Bad Habit said she was pretty much a jump off. Alexandria also took too much crap from him. I guess if I was preggers with that many babies I might be crazy too. Also Bad Habit not letting her go anywhere this mad me so mad. He did not treat her like he should have. Yes they turned a big corner, but I still wanted to scream. So it was an okay read for me. It was like a train wreck I couldn't look away.

I'm not sure if my issue is with the writing or just how unlikeable and poorly developed the characters are. The main character is materialistic and flaky and spends the whole book humbling and humiliating herself to try and get her baby daddy to like her. But we are supposed to be okay with it because he set up a nursery and took paternity leave, despite him being verbally abusive and emotionally unavailable their entire relationship? These issues make this not a happy story and a bit frustrating to read. I'll definitely give this author another chance as I think she could be promising.

This was a uniquely funny story! Although it made me angry and sad at some points, Alex's wit kept me entertained and rooting for her happy ending. I'm not quite sure yet if she gets there but I am definitely looking forward to finding out in the next book! Me Daniels is on my list of authors to read!

Bad habit

What a crazy ride Alex had. 4 babies with your bad habit?? What a disaster that was! Bad habit was cold, calculating and ambitious. Alex was frustrating because I wanted her to beat him up, slap him, leave and never come back, something!!! But bad habits are truly hard to break

stopped at 35%. So far, a lot of skimming. I did not find it that funny. Some giggles but not enough to get me to read the rest. Not my cup of tea. Bad Habit is too nonchalant and Alex is not interesting enough to make me stick around.

Alex and Bad Habit have had a weird non-relationship for over a year. She moves to New York to start her new job and swears off anything that has to do with Bad Habit. Unfortunately, she could never help herself when it came to him, so naturally they had one last goodbye the night before her move. This book is a lesson in percentages and probabilities. Everyone knows that the only form of contraception that is 100% effective when it comes to avoiding pregnancy is abstinence and abstain; they did not.

Even though Alex was on the patch and Bad Habit was using condoms AND a form of spermicide, she became pregnant with quadruplets. Alex’s circumstances change –in addition to the pregnancy – and she has to move to Atlanta to live with her soon to be baby daddy. I don’t want to give anything away so I will just say I wanted to throw my phone at the wall when it came to all the crap that she was going through during her pregnancy and as it is most of the time, the man was to blame.

Alex was used to being an independent, hard working career woman, well on her way to living her life like her idol and “bestie” Michelle Obama. She loses herself in trying to be the perfect woman for this ungrateful man but Alex is strong and the comic relief definitely helped get me through the pain I felt in my chest from the anger. That right there was a sign of how good a job the author did in relaying how Alex felt throughout her pregnancy.

Her heartbreak was my heartbreak. Every time he didn’t appreciate something she did for him and treated her like crap, I felt it.

His eyes darted to my swollen stomach, revolted. “So yeah, I agreed it would be best if you came here, but I never said you were going to be my girlfriend. That I would NEVER agree to!” ~ Bad Habit

The Aliens feel my heart shatter into a billion pieces and fall still, cold as snow. My hope, no matter how trivial, was gone. He said the exact words I feared. He never had any intentions on being in a relationship. ~ Alex

What a great story. The fact that I was so pissed off at the hero of the book means the author did a great job. I HATED Bad Habit. Hated, hated and hated him. He was an arrogant, selfish and insensitive jerk. That’s all I will say about him, as I will let you read it and see for yourself. No worries, you will love Alex and her sense of humor and feel for her and why she does what she does. The comic relief was great and evened things out. I enjoyed this read and look forward to Bad Habit’s book.

Addictive

Alexandria Stone decides to make an upward move when she lands a job in her native New York. She makes the decision to end an on-again, off-again relationship with her uncommitted love interest whom she lovingly refers to as Bad Habit. In order to cut ties with him she will leave D.C. entirely and try to get her life back on track by doing the things that she loves best such as shopping high end regardless of her budget and hanging out with her celebrity chasing friends. She has it all planned out until her Bad Habit convinces her to sleep with him for one last hurrah. Since she's addicted, he didn't have to work hard to convince her.

Moving forward with her plan, she still leaves and tries to begin life without Bad Habit, but she quickly finds out that he left her a going away gift to the tune of pregnancy. If that doesn't drive her crazy, when she discovers he had super sperm and infused her with quadruplets, she has no choice but to contact him again. Alex has to decide if she can live with or without her Bad Habit.

Blu Daniels tells Alexandria's story from a very witty first-person POV. The main character is so fun and sarcastic you fall in love with her immediately. The character development for the love interest is also genius and the supporting characters all have their own unique voices. This cast made "Misconceptions" an enjoyable, light-hearted read.

The plot was executed flawlessly and I became an addict as I flipped those pages wanting to observe how everything would play out. It was simply delicious from the first line.

Blu Daniels has the power in her pen to take a reader from zero to one hundred. "Misconceptions" was playful and flirty but by the same token it was emotional and heartfelt. The brilliant thing about this piece was how well it was orchestrated. Daniels took a risk and hid the name of a main character and it worked! Add that point to the fact that Daniels doesn't immediately reveal how Alexandria became hooked on Bad Habit. She makes you love Alexandria first and then unfolds the story.

There were some editing and grammatical issues that were pesky towards the last quarter or so, but because the story was so good, it's easily forgiven. Readers will stalk the sequel to this book and I for one can't wait.

First, I want to note that I'd rather star-rate this a 2.5 than a 2.

It's hard to really "review" chick lit (or it is, for me, at least). My expectations of it differ from my expectations for literary fiction. (The best chick lit I've read converges at the intersection of those genres.)

So I'm not entirely sure what-all I want to say about Misconceptions, except that it's compulsively readable. I wanted to know what would happen in the end. It's funny. We're privy to Alex's internal monologue, which can be biting and endearing and unapologetic. Those aspects of this are fun.

Your ability to really connect with Alex and her begrudging "partner," Bad Habit will hinge on a lot of suspension of disbelief. They both used protection for their semi-casual parting hookup, yet Alex soon learns she's pregnant with natural (sans in vitro) quadruplets. Bad Habit, who treats her with insensitivity and indifference through about 75% of the book, isn't someone you'd want for any novel heroine. So reading as Alex tries time and again -- to the neglect of herself and the four kids she's carrying -- to get this dude to love her (a lot of the time through pregnancy sex, domesticity, and subservience) is just maddening and pretty implausible. By her own account, she has an amazing family and at least one very close friend who would've supported her fully if she'd stayed at home for the duration of her pregnancy, yet for reasons that just didn't work for me, she opted to move in with ol' boy who left her alone all day and many nights.

In the very last quarter of the book, Bad Habit becomes a character we're supposed to believe had the best interests of the kids, if not Alex, in mind the entire time. But he's been represented as an unrepentant asshole (and not a lovable one) for too long for me to buy that.

I admire the work that went into writing this. I can tell that Daniels had a blast with these characters -- especially Alex. If you're looking for a quick read about a funny heroine and her misconceptions about motherhood and relationships, give it a shot.

Alexandria Stone is a young woman who decides to move back home to New York to start her dream job and to also get away from a man who she refers to as “Bad Habit.” Bad Habit, a jerk, is a man that Alexandria had no real commitment with but the sexual chemistry that is shared between the two is extremely passionate and addictive. Just when Alexandria feels like her life is headed in the right direction, she finds out that she is pregnant. As if being pregnant by a jerk who wants no commitment isn’t enough to worry about, she finds out that she is pregnant with QUADRUPLETS and her dream job merges which leaves her jobless. After Bad Habit learns her current state, he tries to do the right thing by taking her into his home in Atlanta to help her and to be the father that he never had. They face many challenges as Alexandria convinces herself that she needs to make Bad Habit fall in love with her. Will Alexandria get her happily ever after?

This was a very good read. I found myself enjoying this book. The main character was quite amusing with her extreme sarcasm. I laughed out loud throughout this story. The author was very witty and did an excellent job with character development. Blu is a very good story teller and the storyline was very intriguing. Even though there were humorous parts of this story, it was also very emotional. I found myself feeling sorry for Alexandria at times & being irritated with her also. I couldn’t wait to see how Ms. Daniels would allow this story to unfold and to say the least, she did not disappoint. I was very pleased with the ending and I am looking forward to reading the second book in this installment.

The only reason I am giving this book a 3.5 and not a 4 is because there were several editing issues that were a little distracting, but overall, this was a very good read. Bravo Ms. Daniels for a job well done!

Misconceptions by Blu Daniels, is a novel that will either leave the reader gasping for air from all the laughter or shaking their head in frustration. Alexandria Stone made the decision to walk away from her undefined relationship with the love of her life, who’s known throughout the book as Bad Habit. Moving back home to New York is the only way she knows how to get over him.

Alex’s journey to new beginnings without Bad Habit was becoming easier than she realized until unexplained weight gain, morning sickness and a positive pregnancy test have her debating her next move. After the doctor revealed the number of heart beats detected on the ultrasound, Alex reached out to Bad Habit to share the news; unfortunately, she hung up to familiar territory of loneliness and disappointment. Just as she was down on her luck, Bad Habit offered to relocate her to Atlanta as his live-in guest. Expecting more than she should have, their relationship remained undefined, Bad Habit did as he pleased, and Alex was more like a live-in maid with benefits than a guest or “baby mama”.

It took a while for me to really enjoy “Misconceptions” because I was completely annoyed with Alex and furious with Bad Habit. However, I was determined to find out where the author was going with the story and I am glad I stuck it out. Alex was brilliant in the workplace but simpleminded when it came to her personal life and Bad Habit, I assumed, was an arrogant disrespectful womanizer, but it turned out that I was completely wrong about him.

I love how Daniels unfolded the story between the characters, starting them off as lovers, to enemies, then to roommates ending with a peaceful, loving family. This is why I recommend “Misconceptions” and wait patiently for the sequel. Readers, you may find yourself caught off guard when Bad Habit’s birth name is revealed.

This book was so funny, almost so funny that it distracted you from the disastrous "relationship" between Alex & Bad Habit. And yes she identified him as Bad Habit for 99% of the book. We didn't actually learn his real name until the very last page.

Alex loved Bad Habit........ even though he was a jerk to her face, he was not reliable, and he often didn't keep his word to her. She wanted this from him so bad:

description

But all she got was this:
description

As much as you wanted to yell at Alex and tell her to run as fast and as far as she can, her actions were understandable. She was pregnant with this man's babies (yes, multiples). She loved him. She was laid off from her job. She wanted a family. In her mind she had to exhaust all possibilities before calling it quits with her bad habit.

This was book one in the series and from Alex's POV. Book 2 - Bad Habit is through the eyes of Mr. Bad Habit himself!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a great storyline, lots of surprises and the end wasn't so syrupy and sweet that it made you want to have a serious case of side-eye.

If you are looking for a traditional romance then this is not it. This is the first book from Author Blu Daniels that I have had the pleasure of reading, and I hope to see more from her very soon. I received this book as a complimentary copy in return for an honest review.

Alex is smart, driven, career minded, overachiever who moves back home with her parents to take on her dream job in NYC. She soon finds out that a last fling she had before she moved back home with her "Bad Habit" as she calls him, resulted in a bit of a surprise.

Bad Habit is not what you would call the settling down type and I'll be honest through the first half of the book, if not more, I didn't like the guy. When he finds out that the affair that he had with Alex has created not one, but 4 babies and that she has lost her job in NYC he moves her to Atlanta to live with him.

There is lots of humor, emotionally charged scenes and reality thrown into this book. I really liked that it wasn't just another romance and was by no means predictable. Great Job Blu Daniels. Wishing you Much Success.

I would have given this book 4.5 stars but I was super frustrated with the two main characters - Alex and Braxton. This story is told from Alex's POV. She is a 25 yr old MBA grad who has her 1st real job. She leaves DC and her ex- friend with benefits. However, she found out she left with four other developing persons as well. She gets home to NYC and things start falling apart.
She finds out she is pregnant and her "Bad Habit" is the father. Her bad habit is awful. I want to hang him up by his fingernails or do a slow water torture on him. I wish Alex would see a shrink, but she loves her habit like a crackhead. I laughed, and cried. I yelled at Alex so many times. I love the babies but dislike their parents.

I have to read the sequel to see if Braxton ever gets his act together...Talk about the "odd couple", these people are it. However, it was a page turner to see what would happen next.

Ms. Daniels, this is a reality show but I loved it...Thank you..

'Misconceptions' is a quick and enjoyable read. Alex could easily be a girlfriend in my circle and Bad Habit is someone most of us women have dealt with at least once in our dating life. I liked Alex, but was irritated by and felt sorry for her through half of the book. The author did a good job at developing her character and I was happy that Alex came to accept her situation and took control of her life. I look forward to the sequel, but I'm already nervous based on the excerpt at the end of the book!

My only issue was that here were a few grammatical and spelling errors throughout the book that the author and editor should have caught.

My new favorite book.

I loved this book. I'm a mom on a Kindle. Nobody asked me to write this review. I just honestly loved every single page. What a roller coaster. I laughed, cried, worried, and hoped for Alex and Bad Habit to get it right. I think I've read this book six times. Well done. I can't wait to read the sequel. Please quit your day job Blu Daniels, because you have a way with words, a true gift.
