A wonderful ending to the beautiful world of Calico Cove. ❤️ I’m excited that the extended epilogue hints at future stories in CC, but with all of the characters’ children grown up - I’m not ready to say goodbye to this town and its inhabitants!

Very cute and funny

I actually laughed towards the end of the book. There are great characters and it was very emotional and parts are heartbreaking. Great hero and heroine but wasted 10 years because people made decisions for her without letting her chime in. I hated that. But the ending was great and they were true to each other over the 10 years because they loved each other. It was a nice change.

At the beginning of the story, we meet Carrie, who is back in Calico Cove as a famous actress after being away for years. Unfortunately for her, her childhood/ high school love also lives there. These two former lovers can't stop meeting (it is a small town after all). Every single time they do, their hearts are full of so much angst.

I loved the fact that we had the chance to go back in the past, to follow their love story and see what led to that faithful heartbreak. To be fair, my heart broke for Carrie.

After all the times they see each other by accident, Carrie and Matt can't stop the sizzling attraction and have one night together. Well, their night of passion has consequences, which is the beginning of their second chance.

I felt that subconsciously they both wanted that second chance and that's why none of them did anything to prevent the pregnancy. They still uncovered secrets between them, but Matt finally knew that Carrie was his forever. The attraction was stronger than ever and ther love scenes after that were just so, so hot. The steam and the smut were everything that I expected, and I really enjoyed reading them.

I still prefer the fact that they needed more communication with one another. After all, they will have a baby together, and I have the feeling that lots of things are left unsaid between them. I would also prefer for the book to be longer, and see Matt grovel more. I still expected Carrie to stand up more to her mother. After all, this dream of acting wasn't Carrie's, it was her mother.

To be honest... I am a sucker for a book full of angst and broken hearts 😁.

The teaser about Nora and Nick was excellent, and I can't wait to read the author's new series.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading "Forever never".

❗️I was kindly sent Never Forever as an ARC by the author, but this is an honest review, and all opinions are my own❗️

ℹ️: this is book 7 in the Calico Cove series but can be read as a standalone. Never Forever is set for release on 7th March.

💭: okay, wow. I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. Matt and Carrie have been known to despise each other throughout the prior 6 books, but nobody knew why. this story, THEIR story, has been highly anticipated, and I can't believe it's taken until book 7 for it all to come out.

it was well worth the wait, though.

the use of flashbacks introduced us to the pair when they first met, all the way through to the day Matt broke Carrie's heart, and it provided really nice background. it was written in a way that kept the story flowing - I didn't want to skip forward through the flashback to get back to the story - and I really enjoyed the insight into both parties' feelings.

I didn't anticipate liking Carrie as much as I did. for a long time, up until about the 60% mark of Never Forever, I thought she was unnecessarily cruel to Matt and that she was a little bit... irritating. Matt was just quiet; he was never really spoken about other than in the context of Carrie, and it was nice to see and get to know HIM in this novel.

when it all came together? okay, YEAH, WOW. it was so special. surprise pregnancy has never been one of my favourite tropes, but in this case, it was written EXCELLENTLY. I loved the fact that both Matt and Carrie did everything they could to make sure they weren't bringing a child into this world with parents like they had. they really grew up? which feels weird to say about actual adults, but, they did, and it was great to read about.

I really hope that wasn't the end of Calico Cove. it'd have been a great place to tie it up, but I feel like I could read about this town, this community, forever. safe to say I will read anything Hailey Shore produces.

From the moment I started reading I felt myself enjoying every page. We go from the moment Matt and Carrie meet again years later, to when they meet when they where both children, back to the present. Although I’m not always a big fan of alternating timelines, it definitely worked for this book and I enjoyed reading the beginning of Matt and Carrie’s story as well as the present story.

The chemistry between Matt and Carrie was right from the start perfect. Yes, they seemed to hate each other.. but it was also really clear there was so much going on between them. And I honestly loved their interactions. The angry ones, and the sweet ones.
I really enjoyed how different these two characters where. But the one thing they had in common was the way they loved deeply.

The setting of Calico Cove was just as great as I remembered from the previous book in the series I read, and I loved the side characters almost as much as the main characters. The whole reason for the break up wasn’t my favorite, and the way Matt seemed to stop ‘hating’ Carrie almost right away felt a bit strange to me.. But in the end it worked and I really enjoyed every moment I got with these characters.

After reading ‘Never Forever’, I can’t wait to read more by these authors. Although part of a series, this book can easily be read as a standalone.

This is a sweet and touching second chance romance. Matt and Carrie were almost inseparable when they were young. Carrie lived on an island with her younger sister and eccentric mother and grandmother. She was a wildly talented actress and her mother in particular was definitely one of those stage mothers.
Matt loved with his father who was the ferry boat captain. Both Carrie’s father and Matt’s mother left them when they were young. What started out as a close friendship, grew to more as they grew older. And the time came when they planned on moving to Boston together but at the last moment, Matt broke things off and sent her to Boston without him.

It’s now ten years later and Carrie has gone on to become a very successful actress. She is back in their small town to film a movie and she keeps running into Matt who never left and has taken on the role of ferry boat captain from his farther.
Although these two don’t interact very much, when they do things between them are very acrimonious. But unfortunately there are still a great deal of sparks…

This is a continuation of the Calico Cove series and although not my favourite one, this is still a very enjoyable book and I’m glad to have read it. It gets a thumbs up 👍 from me.

Nah (spoilers ahead) super unsatisfying.

I'll start by saying this book was well written and edited. HOWEVER...

THERE IS NO WAY Carrie would just up and forgive everyone like that, nor should she. I don't care of they were well-intentioned (which I suppose could be argued for Patrick and MMC AT FIRST) but the mom was nothing but a selfish momager who wanted her little cash cow to support the family. It was never about what Carrie wanted with that woman.
Then the fact that everyone, including the guy who supposedly put her first and always lived her, continued to lie and manipulate her throughout the story. Gross. She should've taken those babies and run as fast and as far as she could with her middle fingers flying.

This was my first book from this author and honestly is made me angry enough that I doubt I'll read another one on hers.

I had the amazing opportunity to receive and ARC from Hailey for the upcoming Calico Cove novel! It was a wonderful read (with all my favourite tropes 😍🤤) and I seriously couldn’t put it down!!

This story centers around Matt Sullivan and Carrie Piedmont and their journey through childhood friendship to innocent young love to adulthood filled with family expectations, societal pressure and self discovery.

These characters are unique, flawed but at their core relatable and loveable. The storyline between Matt and Carrie is angsty, funny and heartwarming. It is an easy, feel good read with an HEA. Not to mention, hilarious secondary characters which lighten the rhetoric surrounding Matt and Carrie.

Highly recommend!!! Thank you Hailey for the privilege of reading Never Forever early! ❤️🥰

This is a "second chance" trope story that seemed promising, since it showed their first time around on the page. A lot of "second chance" stories skim over the past, and tell us about it without showing it. Here, we see their relationship play out in the past, when they dated in high school and then the hero broke the heroine's heart.

Unfortunately, that was the only good part. This was a letdown. I expected delicious angst when they meet again 10 years later. But, they just had regular rom com type of banter that you see in books where characters are office rivals. None of it was the kind of angsty emotional interactions that really speaks to how they used to be in love, and then the hero broke her heart. This was all shallow, surface level rom com vibes, and no "heartbreak" vibes. It didn't convey any deep emotion. After this did a decent job of setting up a "second chance" trope, it wasted it. Everything feels too light and frothy for a "second chance after heartbreak" book. There was no flavor, none of the heartache I was expecting, none of the depth of feeling.

The heroine also didn't press him to tell her what happened and why he broke her heart until after the 90% mark. So, she's already decided to get back together with him before even hearing the full story for why he was a dick to her and dumped her in the past, which was very irritating. It felt like the plot was just spinning its wheels on revealing it, for no reason. And it made her seem incurious and weak, for not trying to find out and barely reacting, once she found out.

This book started off pretty good, and then ended up being so frustrating and unsatisfying.

Absolutely adorable small town second chance romance! A perfect story about your past catching up to you, the choices you made taking on a different meaning as you get older, and what you're willing to sacrifice to give someone the chance to follow their dream.
Carrie is back in her small hometown to film a Christmas movie and start a family. But her high school sweetheart turned enemy, is everywhere in this town making her furious and a little off kilter. She doesn't want to see him, can't even stand him and Matt isn't any happier seeing her. Every time they're in the same area it turns into a fight and ends with the same question from Matt, asking when she's leaving. But she owes him nothing and it's not his business that what she wants more than anything is to take some down time and have a baby. Unfortunately, the opposite of hate is love and a night of finally caving in to the chemistry they still share ends up giving her exactly what she wanted, a baby. Now Matt is talking forever but how can she ever trust him again after the way he broke every promise they'd ever made along with her heart right out of high school?
This is one of those books where trying to do what you think is right for someone breaks hearts all the way around. I definitely see where Matt was coming from breaking up with Carrie, his heart was in the right place and he absolutely did it because he loved her but the fall out was pretty brutal. It's also a great story that shows how being young and making hard choices doesn't always give you the full picture, because you're not in that head space. But Matt definitely redeems himself in so many ways through the whole book. He has undeniable chemistry with Carrie and I love that both of them never really let go of each other, it's so cute. A super enjoyable read that gives you all the sweet, some of the spice, and a really great HEA.

5 Hello Kisses Are Now a Thing Stars ⭐

How is it possible that this writing duo exceed my expectations with every book they release in this Calico Cove Series? Each instalment brings us a new couple with their fresh little love hurdles we need to overcome before they can live happily ever after. And I want to be swept away in it. Honestly, I am infatuated with these.

Why couldn’t he have lost his hair or something? Gotten hideously scarred in a ferry boat accident? Why did he have to look so much like the boy I’d loved? The boy who’d destroyed me.

Carrie Piedmont may have been destined for greater things, but her heart would always remain in Calico Cove with the boy she fell in love with. Matt and Carrie had grand plans of moving to Boston together when they finished school. All until Matt did the unfathomable; he broke Carrie’s heart.

It’s been 10 years and Matt Sullivan still runs the ferry service and Carrie is back home shooting a Christmas movie. He wants her gone but Carrie can’t leave since she has secret plans. How could these two have fallen out of love so badly? It's inconceivable with the depth of feeling between them.

This was happening. The thought cleared everything else away. All of the old anger. All of the petty fighting. The barbs and insults. It was all bullshit. The only thing that mattered was her and that baby.

The path to forgiveness is a sticky one. But Matt and Carrie have never actually moved on, and there are truths to be revealed and a baby thrown in for good measure. Have loads of chocolate handy because it is the perfect companion to this romantic goodness.

Never Forever moved me. From Matt and Carrie’s tender teenage adoration to heartbreak to new beginnings. These two were desperate for what they once had. I adore characters who are mature, rational, and totally gagging for each other. I fucking love this series. The End.

I absolutely loved this book Never Forever by Hailey Shore!! I was so lucky to have received an ARC from the author. I have read the other books in the series and have been patiently waiting to read why Matt and Carrie had such a tough relationship. This book could be read as a standalone with quick explanations about previous characters but I am glad I was familiar with everyone. It was nice to meet some new characters, too.
In this book, we get the back story on how Matt and Carrie related to each other as kids.I really liked the way the story was laid out and felt like it gave plenty of backstory but never dragged on. I never wanted to skip ahead to see what happened because I felt like everything written was important to the story. Moving onto the present, it was interesting to learn all about Carrie and the ways she was different from the way other characters saw her. I really liked her and felt so emotional for all she had experienced. As for Matt, there are not enough good things to say about his character. There were a lot of emotions felt when learning why he made the decisions he did in their past. He is swoony, protective and never gives up when trying to prove his feelings.
Overall, this is an angsty happily ever after romance with lots of feelings. It is a second chance romance after teenage love that didn't know how to handle big, tough life events. The epilogues were epic! Can't wait to see what comes next from Hailey Shore! She has quickly become a must read author!

I received an ARC but all thoughts are my own.

I was beyond thrilled to return to Calico Cove and learn more about out grumpy ferry boat captain.

This is a series I know will always deliver and Never Forever was no different. Hailey did a great job of writing dual timelines without it feeling clunky or out of place. The flashbacks to the childhood of Matt and Carrie were beyond important to their story, a story of young love, heartbreak, and making choices that were too big for anyone to deal with, let alone a couple of teenagers. I'm not always a fan of second chance romances, but this book is at the top of my list.

Matt and Carrie are that couple who are written in the stars, just waiting to be reunited and for someone to make the first move. The supporting cast were fantastic and I find it hilarious that Roy is who Matt goes to for advice. Patrick (Matt's father) was such a great little old man character. The Pregnancy Platter offered by the diner had me giggling too. And I hope there's a school out there who's creating a Children of the Corn musical because I need that in my life.

The story flowed really well, the spice was top notch and I found myself unable to put this book down until I was finished. Was the story a little predictable? Sure, but there were enough twists and turns to keep me hooked and interested. And be sure to read all the epilogues!

I've enjoyed the other books in the Calico Cove series, and Never Forever did not disappoint! It was everything I love in a second chance romance: a peek into the past, some light angst, no irredeemable behavior, some steam, and a HEA. Carrie and Matt's story has been set up for a little while, so I was looking forward to it (Enemies to lovers? Second chance? Sign me up!).

Carrie is a moviestar, bringing her latest movie home to Calico Cove to film. The downside to being home? Having to see Matt, whom she hates after he broke her heart ten years before. Having Carrie around isn't easy for Matt, either, and everyone in town can feel the sparks when they are forced to interact. But Carrie has a plan for herself, one that necessitates staying in Calico Cove past filming.

There are consequences to the tension reaching a boiling point, and secrets will be revealed.

Although there are brief references made to characters in previous books, you don't need to have read other books in the series in order to enjoy Never Forever (but you'll want to go back and read them after you finish it!).

While Never Forever was not my favorite of the Calico Cove stories --it was still a delightful read-- and I was so happy to be back there with so many wonderful, quirky, and familiar characters. As I started reading, I had the feeling of returning to a favorite cozy coffee shop in a town I like to visit. Not quite like coming home but pretty close. This book can be read as a standalone but I always enjoy knowing the characters and their stories when reading a series so recommend reading the series. It just makes for a richer reading experience.
Matt and Carrie, like all of the Calico Cove residents, are easy to love and root for. They are sweet people who make some poor choices (like we all do) as they navigate life and love. The banter between the two is great and had me laughing in places. Mostly though, they are two kind souls whose journey is a pleasure to be a part of.
The end of the book had me reading with a huge grin across my face but I won't give any spoilers. Also, the epilogue has me anticipating whatever comes next in Calico Cove.

* I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

— Whatever you’re thinking? I want it. I want all of it. All of you. So, you decide you’re ready for that? I’m in.

This is an ARC review!
Never Forever released March 7th 🖤

My Calico Cove fix took soooooooo long I was dying (drama queen here)!
After a lot of glances of Matt and Carrie, Hailey pitied an entire fandom and told their story.
The wait was so worth it!

Matt and Carrie were born and raised in Calico Cove but their lives took different paths: Matt as the ferry’s driver and Carrie as the Hollywood movie star (she kissed Tom Cruise!). But once upon a time they were high school sweethearts, until everything changed.
Carrie swore to hate Matt forever. Or is it never forever?

I knew this story would be emotional and heartbreaking. Small-town-second-chance, with a baby no less? PLEASE GIMME!
I saw myself in Carrie: the aim to please a mother that put too much responsibility in her, the dreams that were half hers and half not, the need to wear a façade that’d never slips even when you’re dying inside.
Now she came back to her home (finally) to do a thing that’s a hundred percent her wish: to have a baby no matter what.
Matt is hurt and everybody could see. This loyal, reliable, truthful man made a mistake he didn’t know how to correct. But when the opportunity was given he shown us the partner he truly can be (jealous Mat and protective Matt are *chef’s kiss*).
This love-hate dynamic exploded in the bedroom of course. Matt is unhinged… and Carrie loves it. ✨
Life gave Matt and Carrie the second chance they needed.
I loved to read Matt and Carrie as kids and as teenagers. To read their love growing was very special. The relationship between Matt and his dad, Patrick’s moments with Carrie, all this and more made this book a gem.

We’d see glimpses of all the locals but the talk (!) between Roy (!) and Matt was well placed and important.
I know all of you’ll end this book hoping for more! (Another epilogue maybe? Am I being greedy?)

Calico Cove is my home too now, so I can’t wait to come back.

P.S.: Nora and Nick? I SAW THIS COMING! And I’m anxious already for the next generation.

Calico Cove, the place where lovers reunite.
Matt and Carrie were high school sweethearts, they were each other’s firsts. The day he broke up with her, is the day her career as an actress really started. And she didn’t return to Calico Cove for ten years.
Now, she’s busy filming her latest movie in Calico Cove and she has a dream she wants to fulfill after the filming is done. That dream just doesn’t include the love of her life….
I gave my Sunday afternoon for this book. I was so happy I didn’t have to go anywhere, because I couldn’t put this one down.
Even with all the insulting and the fighting, you can still feel the love they have for each other. As they say, there is a fine line between love and hate. And that fine line leads them to the place they are meant to be.
I loved that the author gave us the whole story for how they met and got together in high school. It made everything more understandable.
And that extended bonus epilogue, I am intrigued…

Too much leftover teenage angst

I knew from reading the other books in this series that Matt and Callie had been an item as teenagers and then had a bad break up, so I knew that there would be a backstory of teenaged angst. But if I wanted this much teen love I'd read a YA novel. My other issue is that this book follows a pattern by several of the others in the series of men being incredibly mean to someone they either claim to love, or at the least have feelings and attraction for. I get that Matt was young and that others bear some of the blame, but I'm so over "I love you so much I'm going be needlessly cruel to you, for your own good, because I know what's best for you." Then the aggrieved person is just supposed to forgive and forget. Whether it's a friend, a love interest, or a parent, there should be more consequences on their part to repair relationships.

Why TF is Matt so mean to Carrie when HE broke her heart?????

The heroine's gran told her sister in Annie's book that she loved a man named Max but chose the grandfather instead. In this book the Gran is gay and loved a woman named Stockard instead lol

Bonus epilogue is 20 years later and Roy & Vanessa are in their 50s despite being mid 20s in their book lol

The books in this series have a few small inconsistencies from book to book (character backgrounds like Bobby's and Za's family members, grans past lover, etc changed from prior stories to their own, ages, and timelines). All a bit too long with unnecessary drama, but all in all, I enjoyed them all. Well actually I won't be reading Puck Happens because who and who? Tired of every heroine being insecure and every hero thinking he's not good enough and so much inner drama going on. And wtf with Verity????? WHY?

Having read other books in The Calico Cove series, I was looking forward to revisiting what I picture as a charming and friendly place to live, with strong community ties.

While the ‘reuniting after a bad split’ premise isn’t new, this story wasn’t irritating in the way some of this ilk are. There are a great many secrets, which intertwine and add to the heartache situation, creating a huge lack of trust. Matt is a strong and likeable lead male and Carrie is no delicate flower.

I really enjoyed little updates on previously met characters such as Jolie and Mal and Roy and Vanessa. Matt’s dad is lovely, Carrie’s mum is complex and her gran is a riot.

Over all this is an enjoyable and heartwarming addition to a series that has a cosy feel to it.

I absolutely devoured the latest offering from Hailey Shore. I’ve been SCREAMING for a Carrie & Matt book for forever.

I loved the explanation of what happened years ago and their back story interspersed with what was going on in the present.

The story had a few twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting, especially towards the end, and I read the book in 5 hours solid I was that engaged.

I love all the Calico Cove books, and this is no exception. Given the bonus epilogue I cannot WAIT for what’s to come!

This book can be read as a standalone or paired with the other books in the series.

Publication date is 7th March 2024 by Hailey Shore

I really loved the emotion and angst in this story. It legit brought me to tears. I would have given this book five stars if it weren’t for how the parents just get off the hook for what was frankly abusive and selfish behavior. Your relationship with your mom isn’t “complicated” if she lies to, manipulates, and uses you. The way she’d play sick to get Carrie to do what she wanted was terrible. She wrecked both Carrie and Matt in some sort of Tiger Mom manipulation, while also making it clear that Carrie needed to make it big to finance the family. Then when Carrie calls out this behavior and how it made her feel, it’s all just glossed over. I especially hated the epilogue. I absolutely did not need the mentally ill granny and mom to get an unearned happy ending.

This is a really good second chance romance. Lots of laughs and lots of emotion. There have been teasers of Matt and Carrie’s story in the other Calico Cove books, so it was very satisfying to finally get the full story and their well deserved happy ending. Along with some interesting surprises in the epilogue. This book is a standalone, but there are appearances or mentions of couples from the other books. I do recommend that you read Flirting with Disaster first (Carrie’s sister Annie’s story) so you know what’s happening with Carrie’s family home. I’ve loved all the books in the Calico Cove series.

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book! I had a lot of fun reading
it, and will likely be re-reading it in the future. I enjoyed both the characters; though they were definitely stubborn, and know their own mind. I really enjoyed how it showed the past and present time, so you got to read the lead up to their original love story and the fallout.

One of my favourite parts of this series is that even though each book is separate; they always do a great job showing the community. In this book you received a lot of small character pop ups from previous books, and got to see how their lives are evolving.

The end

This book is Matt and Carrie. We go back in time some and find out what went wrong. Parts I thought was slow and others skipped (Would of liked to see the baby's and names)
Think this is last book in this series, thought the end was funny when people started shouting out secrets.
I have read the locks brothers series and oddly never saw the connection to nick. But then at the end of this series the epilogue jumps 20 years forward with Nora now 24 talking to nick (both our baby's in this series) we have cameos with the locks brothers looking for nick at the end, nicely done makes me want to read again.

This story follows Carrie and Matt who were highschool sweethearts.

But when Matt breaks up with her suddenly, Carrie goes on to become a famous actress where as Matt stays on their home town...

But when Carrie comes back to film a hallmark style Christmas film after years of being away, they finally have to face each other.

They definitely want to hate each other but with so much chemistry it is hard to resist each other as well as it being a small town. One thing leads to another and they enjoy one night together but with a massive secret in the way can they move past their past to have their second chance.

This book is definitely a second chance romance, enemies to lovers.

This book was so good. I loved it and struggled to put it down.

Although this is part of the calio cove series it can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.

This was my first Hailey shore but it won't be my last

Getting to go back to Calico Cove is a wonderful little town that I got to enjoy my stay at when you need some time way. This was a great read of second chance at love and watching Matt and Carrie navigate their relationship with chemistry that was undeniable from the beginning. One of the things that I did like was that they never truly let go of one another they were together even when they weren’t.

Just finished the whole Calico Cove series. It was a good kick-off to the summer. But this wasn’t my favorite of the couples. The first half of the book was fabulous, but the second half felt rushed and then cleaned up a little too cleanly, too quickly for a 10 year grudge. Some specific gripes:

-Not sure Matt learned any lessons. Was he ever going to tell her?

-Mom got off easy.

-What the hell happened to Verity????

-What was the point of Gran and her love at the very end? No background. No set up. Just a random curve from left field.
