Kimberly Tyson is just like any other young, black woman stuck in the ‘hood. She she wants out! After birthing her first child she struggles to make ends meet. Her job lays her off and her greedy, abusive drug-dealing boyfriend and baby daddy “Monty” is no help. Kimberly gets frustrated with Monty constantly running the streets and sleeping with every woman that will open her legs to him and is pressed to leave Monty alone, baby daddy or not. Things take a turn for the worse when both her brothers get locked up. Kimberly takes on the burden of trying to earn their bail money. After allowing her mother to talk her into borrowing the money from Monty, he denies her, but luckily Monty’s friend and business partner “Fresh” serves as a safety net and loans Kimberly the money. In the core of her dilemmas the streets turn hot when a slew of murders rattles the city. Someone is watching her closely as things become dangerous for Kimberly and her family. Strangly, a string of unfortunate events lead Kimberly to a goldmine. Feeling lucky about the blessings she received, she never realizes there would be a fatal price to pay.

He started writing when he was 11 years old.He is the author of nine books, seven of which were Best Sellers on amazon He also is the co-writer of urban romance "Secret Lovers" which he penned with Best Selling author La'Tonya West. He is currently hard at work on a novel titled, "My Best Friend's Wife" and a number of other projects.

This book held my attention from start to finish. I loved how he portrayed each character and describe them so we can get a visual. Kim had a hard life with he doggish baby daddy Monty. Plus he was a drug dealer that was very tight with money and when he shouldn't have. He had money so why not take care of your kids, but remember you reap what you sow. I would have never taken Monique for the type she turned out to be. I had a bad vibe about her, but I thought she was working with Monty, but now I know. This book is a very good read. So take the time out and buy it and read it. I can't wait for part 2 to drop and read it.

Whew this book was good. It had so many different twist I had to hold on. He definitely brought each character to life That dang on Monty was certifiable smh. Some of the things I was able to pick up on lol but there were some. shockers. I definitely had Fresh wrong. I really enjoyed this book and can not wait for part 2. I need to know where Cookie is.

I knew it was something about Monique that was fishy. I hope that Kimberly doesn't get crossed up. I know she is going to go crazy when she finds out about her brother. She was just trying to live a normal life for her and her son. Wow speechless right now.

FUPM

I am really torn about my feelings for this book. The women were weak and stupid with the exception of Monique, who was a snake. Not one of them was a total package. Fresh was the coolest dude. Juice was a stand-up guy and I liked him too. I felt his mother played a part in some of the negativity within her family. Zack was a wuss. Monty was 10 caret crazy and I had no sympathy for him at all. I definitely didn't like how the story ended. However, it held me to the end, and I am anxiously awaiting Part Two. Definitely recommended.

Kimberly is trying to make something out of life with a babby a daddy (Monty) that don't care nothing about them but making money Monty is a scumbag his friends Fresh, Zach don't know what to think but the shot has hit the fan this is an awesome book by Jason Hooper & I have more of his books to read gotta get the 2nd book because it's real out in the world oh yeah Monique I knew there was something fishy about her & I can't wait until the truth comes out about her it's about to change bcuz Kimberly trusted her

4.5 Stars, let me star off by say Jason Hooper where is part 2? lol This was a good read I liked the twist and turns. Got a little shocker in the end and a lot of crazy underhanded stuff handing in the story. But as the saying goes, "what is in the dark must come to light." I guess Kimberly found the light, lol but she better be careful cause things ain't looking right. Looking forward to reading part 2 soon!

Jason, I love it! This was your best to date! This book pulled you right in from the start. The storyline stayed on point with non stop drama and suspense giving you page after page of jaw dropping bliss. This was most definitely a 5 Star read! It definitely will not regret investing in this book!

Monty....the root of all evil.....

Whew.....when I say that was a good read I mean it. Monty is a crazy individual with no compassion for anybody but himself. He set up friends. Abuse his baby mother and get others caught up in his craziness. That twist at the end was shocking. Kimberly should really take the advice giving to her but I guess she'll have to learn the hard way.

All I can say is WOW. This book had me from the first couple of pages. Monty was beyond crazy. I can't wait to see what happens between Kim and Fresh. And where is Cookie? Please don't make us wait long for part 2.

I almost didn't get this book because of the title! But I'm glad I did!

The title of this book is very deceiving! It was not about what I thought it was. It was a very good book, it made me laugh and cry. It's definitely a pageturner!
