Sex trafficking is a sad part of the contemporary landscape, and author D. Greg Scott takes us into this sordid world but provides hope in the form of protagonist Jesse Jonsen. A sarcastic heart-of-gold survivor, Jesse just wants to help teenager Leilani escape her handlers. But Jesse finds herself sucked into a whirlwind of twists, betrayals, and high-stakes danger.

Scott keeps the suspense ratcheted high in this fast-paced page-turner. Jesse is a multi-layered hero among a cast of memorable characters, not the least of whom is quirky IT ace Jerry Barkley and stalwart FBI agent Jake Channing. The bad guys are about as bad as villains get, but Scott gives one of the scoundrels mixed motivations.

Scott also keeps his thriller toned down to a PG-13 level. Despite the sensitive subject matter, his prose is never exploitative, but rather compassionate to the victims of sex trafficking. Violence occurs, but it is never gratuitous.

“Trafficking U” brims with all the hallmarks of any good thriller, but it enriches the formula by spotlighting the tragic human trafficking that currently plagues society.

Gritty and entertaining.
Get ready for a thought-provoking glimpse into the insidious and entangled world of human trafficking, and at the brave and tireless law enforcement agents and private citizens around the US who risk their lives to dismantle it.
An intriguing page-turner, this gritty, emotional, and real take on the involvement of relatable characters on both ends of the spectrum, doesn’t disappoint!

Worth reading. Well written. Keeps a complicated plot straight so the reader doesn't get confused. Hits an important topic. Is interesting from page one to the end, especially the courtroom scenes. Who'd have thought a bunch of lawyers arguing would be interesting?!
Not my usual read. I'm all for bright and cheerful from page one to the end and this book is definitely not that. But I'm glad I read it. It'll stay with me for a long time.

Trafficking U is a novel that should be read by everyone. It is hard, it is gritty, it hits sex-trafficking triggers…and it shows the blunt truth of what happens in the international world of sex slavery. Greg Scott weaves a thriller of a tale, but tells the truth. And the truth hurts us all when we ignore the signs in front of us. Learn to recognize what is happening in front of us. Do something. Say something. Be a lifeline.
