The Infected Dead #12

Terror for Now

Rate this book
Terror for Now is Book 12 in the continuing struggle of the Mud Island Family against the Infected Dead. Chief Barnes is the leader of a band of survivors, and he is convinced that the US military must have made a stand against the infected dead somewhere. He and his trusted friends embark on an expedition across the continent to Alaska, searching for more survivors from the infection that reduced the population to near extinction. Their travels take them to the Aleutian Islands, where they discover more than they expected. The world has had years to change. The infected dead roam the streets and the forests in search of living victims. No one knows how the virus started, but even less is known about how to stop it. All the survivors can do is try to outlive it. Cities fall before the hordes of infected, but a small band of survivors fights back by locating and liberating a network of shelters built by the government during the Cold War. Their goal is to unite enough survivors to eventually turn the tide of death in the favor of the living.

This is book#12 in the Infected Dead series. It is set in Alaska and I loved how the narrator of the audio got all the names right.

Chief has kind of stolen the show from the other characters but he has a big personality and can manage that just fine. The story lines are always creative and the author continues with the world building. It all works.

The one thing that holds this one back a bit was that it felt like a character parade. There were so many of them and that always makes me ponder if their existence added to the story....and sadly the answer with some of them was a big fat NO. But that feels like nitpicking because I've enjoyed this series so much. So 4 stars.

formatting issues

As always the story is awesome, unique story line and interesting characters and universe building keeps me reading through out this series. Unfortunately the last bunch of books have serious formatting issues. Chapters are not working or enabled which makes reading and navigating the ebook troublesome and very irksome! Its like having one long 400 plus page of text. Please fix this!

Terror for now.

I have nursed this book knowing it was coming to an end. I don't want to cry that it's over but cheer that it was. Such a great story and the characters were so essential to the story.
Thanks Bob Howard

The Mud Island family meet up with some old friends and have new adventures. The also meet a new lot of people and some baddies too. I read this a second time as soon as I’d finished it as I enjoyed it so much the first time.
