As frontier Montana rages with felons and floods, Their hearts wage the greatest battle.
Sean MacLaren is ready for the challenges awaiting him in Splendor, Montana. As the town’s first veterinarian, he must overcome doubt, fear, and distrust to convince local ranchers to give his skills a try. It’s a tricky proposition, hampered by his growing affection for a certain outspoken New York socialite determined to shove her way into town business.
Camilla Santori broke from her formal, controlling east coast life to join her brother in the wild frontier of Montana. She’s determined to make her mark in the growing town while keeping her attraction to the new veterinarian a carefully guarded secret. Not only is he nine years younger, his manner and speech are too, well…western.
As multiple dangers plague the opinionated, yet guileless woman, Sean finds he can’t allow her to navigate the threats alone. Nor can he stop her from getting involved in the numerous crises confronting the town.
When a fast-moving sickness threatens the burgeoning cattle industry, Sean finds himself relying on Camilla to help him bring an end to the terrible scourge. In the process, their affection grows, pushing their frail friendship to its limit.
Will the continued threats to Camilla, and the town, draw them together? Or will challenging events drive a wedge between the taciturn vet and the strong-willed lady from the east?
Mustang Meadow, book twenty-three in the Redemption Mountain historical western romance series, is a full-length, clean and wholesome novel with an HEA and no cliffhanger.
Shirleen Davies grew up in Southern California. She attended Oregon State University, and has degrees from San Diego State University and the University of Maryland. During the day she provides consulting services to small and mid-sized businesses. But her real passion is writing emotionally charged stories of flawed people who find redemption through love and acceptance. She now lives with her husband in a beautiful town in northern Arizona.
Camilla and Sean have feelings for each other, but she's a New York socialite and he's a lowly vet, for which he needed lots of studying and training. Sean has come home to Splendor and Camilla has followed her brother, Cole, a deputy. (See Whisper Lake) She's the eldest child and felt stifled in New York, she really only came for a visit but loves it. Camilla is older than Sean and is concerned that she won't be able to have children, but Sean says he isn't bothered, she doesn't really believe that he doesn't mind about the age difference, he just wants her! Throw in a near kidnapping, a bank robbery and a flood and you've got a great read.
Camilla went to Montana where one of her brothers was a deputy sheriff. Her family was high society in New York, and her other brothers didn’t want her out in that dirty town. I loved Camilla how independent she was, how she always wanted to help the town, and how she tried to find the best in people. It was funny that when she met the veterinarian in town Sean they did not hit it off so well. The west was such a rough country with outlaws, natural disasters, and others. I loved the way this town banded together. I was glad Sean and Camilla were thrown together to really get to know each other. It was an exciting book and times, and I encourage you to read the book.
This is the heartwarming story that demonstrates that even though a man and a woman come from very different backgrounds can still fall in love. The key is that they have common goals and common likes and are very attracted to each other and respect each other.
Sean MacLaren was born and raised on the family ranch in Splendor, Montana. In spite of spending his youth helping his family run their ranch, he had a dream of becoming a veterinarian. Therefore, when he was old enough, he moved away. Now, after years of study, Sean has returned to Splendor to become their first vet.
Camilla Santori grew up in New York where she lived a life of privilege and luxury as befit the daughter who ran a prosperous financial empire. However, Camilla is unhappy with her boring life. So, she decides to follow in her brother’s footsteps and move to Splendor.
When Camilla and Sean meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. However, they try to ignore their feelings because they believe that they will have nothing in common. In spite of that, they decide to give it a try.
Camilla and Sean must work together to overcome many obstacles that are challenging the town. They must fight off men who are attempting to rob a bank. The town must handle a major flood and its deadly aftermath. They also must help save a deadly and fast-moving plague that is killing off cattle and other animals on the ranches.
Shirleen Davies has created two fascinating characters. They are hard-working, caring, intelligent people who go out of their way to help people who are in need.
As they work together, Camilla and Sean easily fall in love. The question is: will they finally give in to their strong feelings for each other?
Mustang Meadow is the twenty-third entry in the Redemption Mountain series, and it features Sean MacLauren and Camilla Santori as the main characters. These two are definitely attracted as first sight, but there are some significant obstacles between them. Sean is a young veterinarian trying to establish himself in a new town that is somewhat suspicious of his skills. Camilla is an older New York socialite who has come west to fully develop into the strong independent woman she knew she could be, much against the wishes of most of her family. This book takes the reader through twists and turns, and even some tragedy, before reaching an imminently satisfying conclusion.
I have loved every book featuring the MacLaurens from both this and earlier series written by Ms. Davies and this one is no exception. As has become the norm, this book has a social justice aspect that is common today but written realistic for the time, and a fascinating foray into traditional Chinese medicine. I so enjoy a book that is both highly entertaining as well as including some interesting facts. Another great addition to the series and I look forward to many more!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Camilla Santori, a socialite from NY, loves her life in Splendor. She loves her independence and the townspeople. She never thought she would find love again. Sean MacLarien is the new veterinarian, just back from Edinburgh. He feels an attraction to Camilla. He doesn't care about the age difference. Cole, her brother, interferes at first because he doesn't want her to get hurt again. She was engaged before by a younger man and was left for a younger woman he had gotten pregnant. Camilla was afraid it might happen again. Sean didn't care about the age difference. He loved this strong woman with a big heart. She was wonderful with the children at the orphanage. The children loved her and were always excited to see her. Flood and devastation brought them closer as they worked together to help the townspeople rebuild. I admire that these two don't give up on their feelings for each other. Great story by Shirleen Davies. I always enjoy her stories.
We're back in Splendor, Montana, 1874, where living is harsh, towns are expanding, and people are moving west for new beginnings. I've enjoyed this entire series from the building of the Pelletier's ranch to this book where New York elite travel west for visits and some stay to build the community of Splendor. Everyone adds something with their honed talents, whether it is working with their roughened hands or working at the orphanage to help the children. Thane and Bram MacLaren, having moved from the family ranch in northern California, are building a grand horse ranch outside Splendor. Their cousin Sean has returned from Europe, after years of study, has graduated from Veterinary school. Another new talent is added to the town, and I loved every minute of this book. Thanks for a great storyline where love blooms and the beauty of flowers with wild horses in the distance, gives the name Mustang Meadow to the valley.
Sean is a veterinarian who is trying to establish a practice in the town of Splendor. Camilla, a New York socialite, has moved to Splendor to get distance from her controlling family. When the two first meet, Sean views her through his lens of what socialites are like. But he is in for a big surprise as Camilla is very headstrong, independent, and caring person. While she decides whether to stay or go back East, she finds herself getting involved in the community and with Sean. The only thing is, will she be able to get past the fact that he is 9 years younger than her and her past history?
This is a heartwarming romance as Sean and Camilla navigate the events happening in Splendor as well as her history. The story includes a natural disaster, danger, family, community, and so much more as they move to their HEA.
Shirleen Davis is one of my favorite authors. And Splendor, Montana is one of my favorite places to read about. Sean MacLaren returns to Splendor from veterinarian school to the ranch of his cousin's Thane & Bram MacLaren. Sean wants to open his own vet office, so he moves into the town of Splendor, where he meets Camilla Santor, the wealthy heiress from New York. They come together to help the ranchers fight bovine tuberculosis and help the town fight outlaws. Then help the orphans and their home over come floods. I loved this clean and wholesome book. She writes a great story about the historical West along with a good romance. I have read every one of her books, and I am never disappointed.
All his life he wanted to be a vet, so Sean finally finished with school in Scotland, has returned to Splendor hoping his practice will be a success. Camilla Santori is also fairly new to the town, but from a totally different background. She is a New York heiress with a desire to live her life in Splendor. Cole the sheriff is her brother and even though wanted her to return to the city, he soon learned she was determined to stay. When bovine tuberculosis was found in a herd, Camilla and Sean worked together to save as many as possible. This is filled with so much action that also includes attempted kidnapping, an orphanage that Camilla is determined to help, outlaws, and a flood that you have a hard time putting the book down even for a minute.
Sean McClaren is a newly minted vet about to open his practice in Splendor. Camilla is recently arrived from NY, determined to do something more with her life than be a wife, mother and party of high society. When they meet there is instant attraction but can they overcome their differences and pre-conceived thoughts.
As always Ms Davies writes in an easy style that lets the reader simply sit back and enjoy the ride. There is enough action to keep the reader on their toes wondering what will come next but still let that sweetness that is typical of her books shine through until the end. Another enjoyable read.
A well written western read of a young veterinary, Sean and a middle-aged woman, Camilla, who, both arrived in Splendor during a time of a great growth spurt with both of them determined to leave their mark behind. They both came from very different social backgrounds, but they experienced an undeniable attraction that they both try to deny for the longest time, as it does not fit in to their life plans. As normal nothing in Splendor goes easily with some tradagy or another right around the corner. Of course Sean and Camilla were right there side by side fighting together to solve what ever incident transpired. A real page turner with lots of edge of your chair action and intrigue.
Seth MacLaren arrives in Splendor eager to start his veterinarian practice. He meets Camilla Santori, who came to Splendor from New York wanting to shed her socialite lifestyle. The action in this Montana town never seems to stop as they bond through bovine tuberculosis, outlaws, orphans, and floods. I love how the people in this town came together to help each other and keep the town safe. The readers can’t help but love the citizens of Splendor, and they can’t help but love each other. I always enjoy reading Davies’ books and look forward to more like this one.
Sean has returned to Splendor as a trained vet. Camilla has moved there to escape her wealthy upbringing and gain some independence. As Sean tries to establish his practice, Camilla involves herself on the community as well as working at the orphanage. When their paths keep crossing Sean and Camilla develop a strong bond with each other. However, Camilla is worried about their age difference but love finds a way for them to have a future together.
I received an advanced copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mustang Meadow by Shirleen Davies is part of the Redemption Mountain Series. Number twenty-three this story has just as likeable characters, a plot with romance, danger. and historical western life. Just like the previous books this story is exciting and addictive.
Sean and Camilla may seem like opposites but their attraction cannot be denied no matter what threats come their way. Two of my new favorite characters. I am sure that they will be yours too. Highly recommend to those who enjoy fabulous historical fiction romance.
Sean McLaren a Veterinarian raised on a ranch has feelings for Camille Santori from New York. Camille moves to Splendor where one of her brothers is a deputy. Sean and Camille are attracted to each other except Sean fights his feelings in the beginning because of their backgrounds. Camille and Sean work together on finding a remedy and their feelings grow. It was nice to revisit Splendor Montana and all the characters again. Splendor keeps growing and I can’t wait for the continuation. As always great read.
I love Shirleen Davies’s books in Splendor, Montana. Her descriptions just take you to the area and times. In this story we’re given main characters who have several things to overcome before they can even court. There is an age difference, Camilla’s 9 years older than Sean plus she is an Eastern socialite from a wealthy background. As if that isn’t enough, Sean has to overcome the newness of his profession, a veterinarian, outlaws, injuries and a few surprises and twists. I look forward to her next book.
I enjoyed this book about Sean and Camilla or Cam. Sean is a veterinarian and Cam is an east coast socialite. They meet in Splendor and have an attraction that Sean fights. Cam is attracted but she can't seem to find anything they would have in common.
The town is where they start having a connection over the growth and support needed for the town. They both want a successful town. When a sickness breaks out in the cattle, Cam goes to help Sean fight it. She finds herbs in a Chinese market to help the cattle. Sean is grateful and he sees Cam in a different light.
Sean is back and is a veterinarian and has moved to splendor. Camilla has moved to town to get away from her family this is a very good story about trust and helping out others. this is a page turning story and shows to that if you keep looking and trying to find answers they sometimes come in places we do not think they will be . i was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review
Awesome Western romance with suspense, action and hardships. Sean Maclaren went to school in Scotland to become a veterinarian. He has family nearby but wants to make his life his own. Camilla came to town after living the life of a socialite in NY. They like one another but there are many obstacles. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading future books by Ms Davies. A 5+ star author.
It was great to visit with the characters of Redemption Mountain again. I so enjoyed Sean and Camilla's story. She's a sophisticated New York heiress who is older than he is, and he's a veterinarian just starting his practice. They have an immediate connection when they meet but have much to get through to get their HEA. A captivating read that I totally enjoyed.
Another really good read from Shirleen. Showing age differences don’t matter to those who fall in love, even when others see insurmountable problems. Camilla, finds her new life in Splendor, a challenge she is willing to undertake. But a new man in town, a veterinarian, catches her eye, both fight the attraction to no avail. But family still might intervene.
This book is so well written I felt like I was in Splendor in 1874 right alongside Sean and Camilla as they dealt with felons, floods and everything else they faced as they got to know each other in this heartwarming historical romance that I couldn't put down from start to finish. I love books by Ms, Davies and this is one of my favorites. Don't miss Mustang Meadow.
I really enjoyed this story. It is about a New York lady finding happiness in Splendor, Montana. She traveled there to see her brother Cole, who was a deputy. She met Sean Mc Laren, the new Vet in town. She stayed in Splendor, making this town her new home, just the beginning of a happy ever after.
Lovely story with a older New York heiress Camilla and new veterinarian Sean are attracted to each other but he has just opened his vet office and there is a break out among the cattle and it is Camilla who works with him to save them. Enjoyed reading this story and loved the characters.
This is a story of a young socialite who moves from New York City to Splendor Montana. She comes to join her brother and his wife and becomes involved with the small town and it’s inhabitants. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I always enjoy reading about the people of Splendor, however, this book felt very rushed and discombobulated to me. There were too many story lines that I felt could have used more story to them. Regardless, I still liked it, just wish it were longer and more complete.
This is book 23 in the Series. We have Sean the Veterinarian and Camille the East Coast lady. Together they will achieve anything they want. I loved the story.
Thank you, Shirleen Davies, I really enjoyed Mustang Meadow and reading about all the McLarens , it was a wonderful Story, Sean and Camilla were wonderful.
Another very enjoyable book set in the growing town of Splendor, this time as well as the characters we have got to know so well through the series the lead characters are both newcomers to Splendor, Sean a vet faces challenges but also brings medical experience and new treatments which make a huge difference, Camilla has travelled west to escape life as a wealthy socialite in New York and life in Splendor is very different yet she quickly adapts and finds a role for herself, and despite their very different backgrounds and experiences they are drawn to each other. As always in a Shirleen Davies book there is a great mix of characters from previous books as well as new ones and a mix of intrigue, drama, and danger from the elements which keeps your attention from start to finish, but it can also be enjoyed without reading the previous books, a really enjoyable book.
