Four years ago, half of my heart walked out the door. The piece left behind has sat frozen in time—a time when our love was alive and thriving.
I was luckier than most guys in the league. I met the girl of my dreams before I hit it big, and she stood by my side as my hockey career took off.
She was my cheerleader, my best friend, my soulmate.
I promised my wife the world and then failed to deliver.
But now she’s back. And she needs my help.
I’ve never been able to say no to Evie, and while her plan is crazy, I fully intend to use it to win her back.
Losing her once almost destroyed me. I refuse to let her go again. So I’ll move heaven and earth to make sure she gets exactly what she wants while working out a way to keep her for good.
Siena is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where a love of sports is bred into a girl's DNA. Her love of romance novels came early as well. She would often accompany her romance reviewer mom to book lovers' and romance writers' conventions, where she sat in on workshops and met numerous best-selling authors. It wasn't long before she was filling notebooks with her own stories, which often starred herself and a certain real-life prince.
As luck would have it, she met and married a handsome athlete instead. After several temporary residencies in multiple states and Germany, they finally settled in Michigan, the land where youth hockey reigns supreme.
Her stories no longer feature herself but draw from her past experiences as an educator, businesswoman, fashion consultant, and world traveler when creating her strong heroines. “Oh yes,” she says with a wink and a smile, “There are bits of me in all of them.” Now, she spends her days writing happily ever afters for fictional characters and her evenings at the local hockey arenas cheering for her three children.
This book started out very promising—I devoured the first half. Then I started to get, well, bored to put it simply.
1. The climactic moment happens about halfway through the book, then it’s just reading about their very normal and basic life (somehow of an NHL player) 2. I hate Evie. With a PASSION. I have never hated a character more, actually.
In the beginning I felt for Evie, but then I only got more mad and more confused. So you leave your “perfect” husband high and dry because you can’t get pregnant? And then he doesn’t even fight for you? Then you try to adopt a child (basically illegally) with someone you haven’t spoken to in four years?
Also, do NOT get me started on how UNGRATEFUL Evie was to FINALLY FET PREGNANT omg the anger I felt at her being such a spoiled brat during the pregnancy she’s tried for 5+ years to get. That’s what ruined it for me I felt no emotions after that. Also Jenner is a pussy
I was really worried about this one because reviews made it seem like the FMC (Evie) was totally unlikeable - I didn't find this to be the case! I mean, was she my favourite? Absolutely not. Did she make a completely unhinged decision that would never happen in the real world without actual repercussions? Absolutely yes. However, I read romance to not live in reality, and so I could look past that because the rest of the story slapped and the MMC (Jenner)? Hot damn, get me one of those!
This might not be for everybody, but I think it's a 10/10 for safety readers! Evie was a virgin when they met in college, and I'm not sure about Jenner - it's never explicitly stated but he does say in a flashback to them meeting at age 19 that he needs an actual connection and was too focused on hockey to join his teammates hooking up and partying. They were separated for 5 years and both were celibate - how often does that happen with a pro-athlete MMC? Sold me right there.
Also, they officially get back together at literally 35% like ASAP rocky fast - but it worked way better because then I wasn't frustrated with how dumb the FMC was for thinking she could get away with her adoption plan, but could get into the relationship and their process to becoming a family and making things work.
The .5 star off is because of the situation with Evie's BFF Natalie and Jenner's BFF Maddox - Maddox is the MMC from the previous book (I didn't read cause he's a manwhore to epic proportions 🤮). So, Maddox is now happily engaged to his fiancé Bristol, but we see in a flashback to Evie/Jenner's first wedding of Maddox and Natalie flirting and hooking up that night. Now in the present time, Bristol has called Natalie herself and invited her to Evie's baby shower - well, when Maddox shows up Natalie literally makes a joke about how Maddox knows she likes it hard (keep in mind, she is married now too) with Bristol in the same room (she doesn't hear). Look, maybe it's no big deal to anyone else, but to me I was truly grossed out and I'm glad I didn't read the first book for this alone. PSA romance authors: the manwhore trope is long over!!
☆ Dual pov ☆ Virgin h/maybe virgin or celibate H when first meet in college (19H/18h) ☆ Married for 6(?) years ☆ Divorced for 5 years and both celibate! 🥰 ☆ No cheating or OW/OM drama ☆ NHL captain MMC ☆ Triggers: infertility, traumatic birth ☆ HEA ending + epilogue
March 2025 Snooped ahead and found out he's been celibate during the separation - my favourite kind of second chance! Can't wait.

Oh my heart!!! This one pulled so many strings, an infertility struggle where relationship ends because both think not good enough for another no matter how much they love- just showing sometimes love is not enough. It gave light to this struggle, the hope and fear, and just love all of her books because while spicy it’s honest.
This is the second book i've read by this author where i heavily dislike her fmc, like holy crap, i hated Evie so much i couldn't get pass her behavior and lack of accountability, just like i dislike male character when they do something wrong and take 0 accountability, they don't apologize and keep acting like children i don't see why a female character should get a pass, this is a woman in her 30's who act like a total brat wow, also i really apologize if what i say is triggering because i don't know what it feels like to have fertility issues and trying to get pregnant (i have never been pregnant and mostly think i'll be child free) but i don't think it's very healthy that your entire identity and your value as a person is whether you have the ability to have a child or no, your value as a human being, your worth as a person should not be put on your ability to have a child, you're not less of a women, and fmc should have had therapy much more early... also i didn't like the subtle slut shaming at the beginning of the book about that one girl wanting to get with her brother, that was very unnecessary and didn't bring absolutely nothing to the story, it only was written to somehow make the fmc appear "morally superior" for not "putting it out" unlike these "skinny btches" and i'm saying this as a fat women, body shaming is not okay regardless if the person is fat or skinny
*Please check trigger warnings and disclaimers before reading* The emotions are raw and real. The rollercoaster of emotions that was experienced was a wild ride.
Jenner is too pure of a soul for us. The dedication, determination, and supportive nature this man has are outmatched. I was unsure how I'd feel about his story by how his situation was briefly described in Maddox's story, but I'm so glad I read it. Not only can he melt your heart and give you cavities with how sweet he is, but he can flip the script and be downright 🥵
I was wary about Evie at first, but she won me over. Desperate times call for desperate measures. As women, it seems we are put on a time frame for family building. She felt that among the many trials and tribulations she faced. Evie is a warrior.
This story opens up about real-life struggles many couples have to face. The pain, disappointment, and resentment can also be met with joy, encouragement, and fulfillment.

This is a book about Jenner, the team’s captain, and Evie, his ex-wife. This isn’t your typical romance. The story mainly focuses on the infertility issues the couple faced and how they affected them individually and as a couple. That part was rather accurate and someone struggling with that issue can definitely connect with the MCs. The story lacked angst, therefore could have been several pages shorter. Unfortunately, there were many scenes where it felt dragging and I was bored. Their get-together was just meh. I couldn’t feel any chemistry, only Jenner’s unconditional love. About the MCs….I absolutely disliked Evie. She was only thinking about herself and treated her amazing husband awfully. She was supposed to be smart and self-confident but she kept having doubts if Jenner loved her body or not when clearly she didn’t love it herself. Also, I can’t understand a modern young woman with no dreams for a career of her own. Jenner, was a sweetheart, to the point it felt pathetic. He was perfect at everything and I felt sorry for him tbh, he deserved better. I loved the subject this book handled but not the protagonists I’m afraid.

Overall: 3.25/5 ⭐️ for me.

Full disclosure, I've never suffered from infertility. But this doesn't seem logical! Lying to an adoption agency seems like a terrible idea and for so many people to go along with it is absurd.
This book stole my heart from the very first chapter. I went into it mostly blind, and man did this book pack a beautiful punch! Although it deals with some VERY heavy topics. The happily ever after we get to watch Jenner and Evie achieve is worth every second this book broke my heart!
We meet Jenner and Evie already married... but unfortunately heartache and trauma pull them apart. Their love story was heartbreaking to read. But the way Siena Trap handled every part of this book was so beautifully done. I couldn't put it down! I'm trying so hard to write this review without spoiling it in case others want to go into this book blind like I did!
But if you are one that avoids certain triggers. I definitely recommend NOT going in blind. But Jenner and Evie's story does end in the best HEA! My heart was so happy for them. I was in chills reading the ending of this book! 😭 😍
I loved that there was ZERO miscommunication in this book! Jenner was so very clear about his feelings for Evie. Even after years apart! He was such a solid rock for Evie when she reentered his life unexpectedly after being gone for 4 years!
I truly can't get over how well this book was written and how Siena handled every emotion, that Jenner and Evie went through. I just know there are going to be so many women who can relate to Evie's journey into parenthood! And every comment she made and every feeling she expressed.
I'm hooked on this series now! I can't wait to go and read Bristol and Maddox's story! The relationship between Jenner and Maddox was so sweet. It left me wanting so much more of Maddox's story!
I stopped reading on page 173/467 and should have quit sooner. I despise Evie. She is so self centered and egotistical that she would rather throw away her husband than adopt or use a surrogate, but at the same time she is so ridiculous that making a baby is the only thing she can picture doing with herself? WTAF??? I'm doubly pissed because Jenner is such a good MMC (he was great in Maddox's book and he's beyond amazing so far in this one) but I am so flipping annoyed by Evie that I cannot keep reading. Ignoring the whole baby trope, to be mocking and joking about Bristol and Dakota with Tessa is beyond the limit. Maddox is right and Jenner should run the other way.
(just so I'm clear--I've dealt with infertility AND infant loss so please do not confuse my rant for insensitivity--I just don't get it and it's definitely not a read for me)
LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT? SHE LEFT HIM BC HE SUGGESTED THEY STOP IVF AFTER THE 9TH FAILED ATTEMPT BC IT WAS DESTROYING HER...SUGGESTED ADOPTION. SHE LEAVES HIM THAT NIGHT WHILE HE'S AT WORK. 4 YRS LATER THEYRE DIVORCED AND SHES UPSET THAT SHE CAN'T ADOPT BC SHES SINGLE?
just when you think another hockey/pregnancy trope
Uhhhh yeah, it’s not what you think and it’s going to f**king crush you!!! As someone who suffered infertility and fertility issues, this one hurt but was also cathartic in a way too! The characters are so lovable and you feel the pain with them as well as the happiness!
Finally a FMC that’s plus sized. None of this ‘curvy’ BS cause she has big boobs or an ass on her and is probs a size 12 max, this gal was a size 24 and I am here for it 👏🏼 I’ve loved all of Sienna Traps books and this one was no different. I did find it a bit repetitive again but hey, I polished it off in just over a day so didn’t bug me that much. Pregnancy trope done well. Big fan and of course - hockey so win win haha.
This was such a beautiful yet emotional book I just didn’t want it to finish. Thank you for letting me read the arc yet again Siena did no wrong here and Jenner just was perfect
This is my first Siena Trap book and I was not disappointed. I feel like I was missing some context due to not reading the first book in the series, but I will definitely be circling back and reading all parts of the series.
I went into this book at little blind to its content and a the TWs (please take caution if you have been impacted my pregnancy loss). It was sweet, it was heartbreaking, and it was an all-around satisfying and sweet love story with some spice. It’s very much something you have to just immerse yourself in, but when I picked it up, it was very hard to put back down. I always look forward to what would come next.
4.5 stars from me! Spice was there (made me giggle at times) and I enjoyed the meta humor about hockey romance novels, either intentional or not. Looking forward to the more of Siena’s work! :)
Let me start off by saying, I have been loving the world Siena is building. The tropes in this book were just not for me. There is infertility, pregnancy, and a bit of lying throughout the book. I didn’t like how the book began, and it just felt like the MMC deserved a lot better. I really struggled to identify with the FMC and the rash choices she continued to make.
I barely finished this book oh my lawd.. I had to fight myself to skim it to the end.
I could absolutely not stand Evie. I get miscommunication tropes and brat tropes.. but this girl is just straight up ick. The ONLY time I ever felt like I could vibe with her was when she was going through major postpartum depression.
The fact that she acts so entitled and self centered around the whole adoption process was such bullshit. Even if he wasn’t her ex husband/current husband you can’t just ask someone to be a dad and then expect them to not get attached to said baby. Like is she mental!? So of course her husband who begged her to adopt in the FIRST place she just figured he sit back and let her walk all over and him and use and abuse him?? Like what?
There wasn’t any ow drama or cheating and they were both celibate in there time apart. I also couldn’t stand that Evie kept saying how terrible her time away from Jenner was too like she suffered just as much as he did if not worse BLAH BLAH!! B!tch please! YOU LEFT HIM! Ugghhh victim card the whole freaking way. I feel the same way Maddox did! I wouldn’t have caved as quick as he did though🤦🏼♀️.
THAT SAID! I have never skimmed so much of a book. I honestly searched key words after I finished and read a few bits of chapters here and there. I got through each main event and got a good idea of what happened. Evie’s labor story brought me to tears it was so real and raw.
It was an okay book I guess.. but I wish Evie was written to have more compassion and understanding instead of being self absorbed/centered. Like it was all “me this” and “poor me” if you like that kind of character then this book is for you.
Spice maybe a 2/5 Overall book 2/5

I loved the first book in the series as well as the ones from the series before this one. That being said, ai could jot get behind this book. I ended up skimming the pages for the last 40% because de FMC is the most selfish and annoying character that could be written.
I love the attempt at representation of different subjects, I think the struggle the go through is terrible and incredibly sad. That being said, that does not give the Evie the excuse to be so selfish, Jenner is basically lighting himself on fire to keep her worm, she destroys his heart and than just has no groveling/redemption? That makes no sense at all. She literally has no character development, I’m sorry but it’s true
- Infertility is serious issues that breaks families apart and breaks hearts. But at the same time, where is all the characters development to overcome it. There is no narration of the struggle to get out of the well, just mentioned that “after months of therapy” so basically just magically fixed without sharing the struggle work and development.
- representing different bodies is amazing, but does someone have to mention her “rolls” “softness” “size” “weight” in EVERY CHAPTER?!Can Jenner compliment her once without saying anything about her body?! Can she speak “bad” about her own actions instead of always attacking the way she looks? It’s so annoying after the third mention of it in like 15% of the book I was already tired of it.
- the drama with the adoption and Juliana is so short it’s basically there to create a problem and then just disappear.
At the on of the day it feels like a million things are happening but nothing really is developed fully.
I received this book as an ARC and it’s my third book read from this Author. I have to say this one definitely hit home. I appreciated the trigger warning as I am someone who has struggled with infertility for almost 5 years. I have to say Jenner Knight is now my new book boyfriend. The attentiveness and care… along with other things, were definitely up my alley. One thing that I related with entirely was the doubt of self imagery and depression that Evie went through throughout the story, as I have been through the same paths. (I also enjoyed that an FMC was actually plus size). As much as I understand this is fiction, it was also spot on. It also gave… hope? A renewed sense of maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel? Very well written, 5/5 ⭐️ I couldn’t put the book down and it flew by, which is not an easy feat for me.
Wow. I’m all over the place with this one. This is the second series I’ve read by this author, so I’m not new to her work. And I’ve enjoyed every book that I’ve read…until now. Don’t get me wrong, there were parts of this book I really enjoyed. But I had to push myself to finish it. I just could not connect to our heroine, 31 year old Evie. To me she came off as spoiled, irrational, self absorbed, immature, pampered …and some of the choices she made?🤦🏻♀️ I wondered how her long suffering and extremely patient husband (Jenner) could put up with her. The guy had the patience of a saint. Anyhow, the story was about their struggle with infertility, which was heartbreaking at times. Let’s just say that Evie did not handle the frustrations well, and I’ll leave it at that. I wish she came off as a little more likable. There were times that I actually talked back to her while I was reading. Anyway, I did feel sympathy towards the end (and thank god she was finally seeing a therapist) and by the time of the epilogue I had a smidgen of hope that her actions were more in line with a mature woman in her thirties, but god it was tough getting there. And kudos to you Jenner for hanging in there, you are the most accommodating of husbands! 3 1/2 stars
- h 31, H 32 - Second chance (4 years later) - Hockey player - Plus size FMC - Infertility - Adoption - Marriage of convenience (they are divorced)
Oh my God, this book touched me in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. It’s both a heartbreaking yet beautiful story. I recommend reading trigger warnings. Based on my own history with pregnancy and babies, I cried so much reading this. I was both frustrated and understanding towards the h, because the heartache she felt during those years, I can understand why she had to run away. And Jenner (H) was the sweetest man, being patient and understanding, loving her through it all.
Safety: - No owd, omd, both celibate during separation (divorced 4 years) - Met in college, H wants t a fan of hookups and puck bunnies, so didn’t get the feeling he had slept around, but only her after he first laid eyes on her. h was a V when they met.
Sidenote: Loved their friends, and Maddox and his fiance relationship, but how his past hookups shows up, I will not read his book. But thankfully his fiance also had a previous sexlife

This is second chance romance done so well!! Jenner & Evie’s journey had me teary on multiple occasions. If only you could hug fictional people.
“The thought of living in a world without you in it? It’s unimaginable.”
Now, Jenner might be a sweet cinnamon roll, but when he’s with Evie, hot damn 🥵 this man’s possessive as all hell.
I loved Evie off the bat. She deserves all the love and happiness in the world after all her traumas. ❤️
As always Siena delivers on deliciously spicy scenes. Especially with an MMC who’s down right obsessed with his girl🔥
Of course we get all our favourite side characters throughout as well. I’m so excited to see what Goose has in store for us; I feel it’s going to be a wild ride!
Please note this story deals with the sensitive top of infertility so please be aware if this is something that could be triggering for you.
Just ok. While I understand the issues with fertility and felt for both the mmc and fmc, I could not find a way to like evie. Every choice she made was all about her from the beginning to the end. She rarely considered anyone else’s sturuggles or feelings as they went through the journey with her. She didn’t care if her choices she hurt other people, it was 100% about her, and I just didn’t like her as a character.

I don't even know where to start. This book absolutely ruined me. It was one of those where I questioned reading it - because of the content warnings and knowing my own mental health and my own struggles with the subject this is focused on - but I kept to it, and whilst it hurt, and whilst I cried far too many tears, this is also a testament as to how fantastically written it was. This was a very tough, sensitive subject that Trap tackled, but she wrote it with grace and sensitivity.
My heart went out to Evie, and I saw so much of myself in her. Whilst our precise issues differ, I felt the heartbreak she went through with every missed month. With every set back, and with every challenge. And to a point, I can understand why she did the things she did. Was is right? Possibly not. But that's what she and Jenner worked through in this book.
Jenner. Oh, my heart broke for him. Words taken out of context - especially at times of high emotion - always leave you reeling and wishing you could have a do-over. It might not have been how he figured it would happen, but Jenner got his do-over, and I loved reading as he and Evie came back together. This man truly never stopped loving his wife, and I loved every single moment of their reconnection.
It's hard to write a review without giving spoilers, but all I can say is if you're up for an amazingly emotional read, full of heartbreak, a second chance at love, a phenomenal found family not only in the hockey team, but in the WAGs, too, and a bloody well-earned happily ever after - with a side of hockey, too - then this is the book for you. But again, heed the warnings, as this one can be very tough for a lot of people to read.
I probably say this about each book, but Jenner is my favourite Trap book boyfriend, and she certainly outdid herself with this one. I'm so psyched for Goose's story coming up, too!
Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
I love angst, chaos, and drama, all of which I found in this book. Yay! Between excitement and frustration, happiness and sadness, selflessness and selfishness, lies the story of Jenner and Evie in Frozen Heart Face-Off by Siena Trap.
Let me first say that I really enjoyed Trap’s writing style. I’ve read many hockey books that don’t dive into the sport at all, but this one did! Trap described on-ice plays so well that I could actually see them play out! Additionally, the way she wove both Jenner’s and Evie’s past and present narratives together was seamless and beautiful. Not all books with flashbacks and multiple POVs work, but this one definitely did.
Now let’s move on to plot and characters. Trap took a risk with Frozen Heart Face-Off, and it paid off. Not only did she challenge societal beauty constructs through the use of a plus size character, but she also tackled issues like infertility and adoption, loss and grief, and mental health. Some of the plot was a bit outlandish and predictable, but I was still blown away by how beautifully and flawlessly Trap captured the depth of emotions and desperation that people in such situations can and may feel. While not the biggest fan of Evie’s selfishness, I loved Jenner’s unwavering love and devotion to her and his on-ice time, and grew to anticipate and savor his chapters, all due to Trap’s ability to write such complex personalities. She also did a wonderful job building a world of side characters that completely enamored me. With her emotional depth, use of flashbacks, and phenomenal side characters, Trap has solidified herself as one of my new favorite indie authors!
I knew going into this book it was going to be emotional. However, I was not expecting the emotional roller coaster. I was crying happy tears, angry tears, anguish tears, scared tears. ALL THE FREAKIN EMOTIONS! This was a phenomenal raw & real read. There are very sensitive topics discussed in this book so I recommend checking the triggers prior!!!
NOW, ummmm Jenner FUCKING Knight, y’all 👏👏👏 I didn’t think anyone could top Braxton Slate, but Jenner just skated right in and took the top MMC of Siena’s world 😍😍 He adored Evie, waited on her hand and foot, yet still was possessive and demanding in the bedroom 🥵🥵🥵🥵 Like, hot damn this man 🥵
Evie has to be one of the strongest FMC I’ve read. The struggles she went through. Ughhh my heart broke for her. She deserved that happy ending 🥹🥹🥹
I will never be over the found family in Siena’s books. It’s one of my favorite parts of her books and I adore how they all come together to help or support each other 🥹
10000/10 definitely recommend!
𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: “You’re my best friend, but so help me God, if you disrespect my wife ever again, we’re gonna have a problem.”
“You are my goddamn wife. I should have never let you walk away the first time, and I’ll be damned if I let you get away ever again. If you so much as try to leave me, I will hunt you down and drag you back by any means necessary.”

Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ POV: dual Tropes: hockey romance, marriage after divorce, marriage of convenience, adoption, second chance, found family, HEA
Evie and Jenner, where to start with them?! I say this every time but each book I fall more and more in love with the main couple. The beginning I felt so much for both of them as they struggled to get pregnant and couldn’t exactly figure out why Evie couldn’t conceive. As someone who took longer then “typical” and felt like EVERYONE around them was getting pregnant without even trying I related to them so much! After deciding that she didn’t want Jenner to deal with her grief she decided to divorce him. Fast forward a few years and Evie has joined an adoption group and feels judged because she doesn’t have a husband.
Coming up with the brilliant plan of providing their old marriage license, Evie sets forward a web of lies and stories in hopes of getting the a child like she’s always dreamed of!
When the social worker shows up at Jenner’s house, will he be able to keep up with the rouse and help Evie get the child she so desperately wants? Jenner is the perfect, devoted husband who is hopelessly in love with Evie. He’s sweet but with the flip of a switch is dominating and will have you panting and begging for more. Full of so many emotions you will definitely have all the feels!
The wild ride that Evie and Jenner go on is written so beautifully and ends with the perfect HEA.
