From award-winning author Toni Anderson comes her latest explosive Romantic Thriller, COLD SPITE, where FBI agents are pitted against a former Navy SEAL gone rogue.

When FBI Agent Delilah Quinn survives an attempt on her life, she pretends to be dead in order to outwit her attacker. There is only one person she can turn to for help—a man she never wanted to see again…a man who abandoned her five years ago and left her heartbroken. A man definitely on the killer’s hit list.

FBI Hostage Rescue Operator Cas Demarco lives with the burning regret of choosing to join HRT and leaving Delilah behind. News of her death devastates him. Then she calls him out of the blue and he can’t help but seize this one last chance to make things right.

With both Delilah and Cas targeted for death, a task force is set up to catch their would-be killer, who they believe is a disgraced former Navy SEAL they helped convict of drug trafficking. Out of prison and on a ruthless quest for retribution, the former SEAL is eliminating everyone who wronged him—without leaving a shred of evidence behind.

Can Delilah and Cas prove who’s responsible for the attempts on their lives and have a second chance at a future together? Or will the rogue ex-SEAL double-down on his promise to destroy them both?

I have a handful of authors I follow and wait on the publication of each new book. Toni Anderson is one of them. Everything else I read is just filler in my reading. "Cold Spite" does not disappoint, then again, I've never been disappointed by a Toni Anderson book. They have all been winners for me starting with "A Cold Dark Place" published 10 years ago to this latest book. I love the world that Toni Anderson has created and the many characters that inhabit that world. I can see many, many more books to come and I will read each and every one of them. "Cold Spite" is a second chance romance and our heroine, Deliah, really makes the hero, Cas, work for it. He deserved every obstacle she made him overcome on his path to redemption. But I just love how Cas came to realize that Deliah was the best thing ever to happen to him and is not going to lose this chance with her. Awesome suspense plot and great ending with a cliff hanger set up for the next book and couple.

All her life FBI Special Agent Delilah Quinn has lived under the shadow of her father, now a retired Assistant Director for the FBI. She has had to work twice as hard not only because she is a woman but also because of who her father was. Undercover work and tough assignments. But working hard has been her life for the past five years after the man she loved imploded her life. After an evening run, she returns and discovering her condo ablaze, her best friend dead and her partner murdered Delilah is on the run fearing she was the target.

Five years ago, Cas Demarco made a decision that was, in part, in response to a threat and in part due to his own insecurities. He chose the HRT and left Delilah and although he has regretted that, he didn't have the stones to correct it. Life goes on and the Hostage Rescue Team has become Cas' family. He loves his job but doesn't have much of a life outside it.

Hearing Delilah is dead, Cas is devastated only to take a phone call from a ghost. Learning a former SEAL they arrested and who had threatened to kill them is out of jail leads them to suspect that they are now his targets for revenge. Knowing they are stronger together Cas and Delilah are determined to catch him, even with no evidence pointing to him. Cas is determined to make his second chance with Delilah work while she is determined not to let him destroy her again.

Toni Anderson’s Cold Justice: Most Wanted series of exciting and action-packed romantic suspense novels continues with Cold Spite, in which a pair of agents are targeted by a disgraced former Navy SEAL out for revenge. The suspense plot is superbly executed - full of twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes - but the romance in this one doesn’t work so well; it’s a second-chance love story that just isn’t given the time to evolve, so the reader is asked to take as read that because the couple loved each other once, they must do so now. The author usually achieves a good balance between the plot and the romance in her novels, but it’s a bit off in this one.

Five years before this story begins, Special Agents Cas Demarco and Delilah Quinn have been working undercover to bring down a Mexican drug cartel. For the past year, the romance between ‘Ricky’ and his flaky girlfriend ‘Lacey’, has been more than an act because Cas and Delilah have fallen in love and Delilah is looking forward to their making a future together. Cas, however, is less sanguine. Delilah’s father is an Assistant Director of the FBI and has warned him off, threatening to block his application to join the elite Hostage Rescue Team if the relationship continues. We join them on their final day on the operation, with Delilah accompanying a delivery being driven across the border by Joseph Scanlon, a Navy SEAL who is happily prepared to betray his country in exchange for cash. When the trap is sprung, Scanlon makes some horrible threats against Delilah but he’s taken into custody and at long last, Delilah and Cas can start making plans for their future. Until Cas burns it all down, telling her that their chemistry in bed was great but their relationship was based on a reaction to the danger they were in, his casual dismissal of the love she thought they’d shared like a knife to her heart.

Five years later, Delilah, who is based at the FBI office in San Diego, finds out that Scanlon was released early after convincing the parole board he’d found religion and was rehabilitated. Delilah can’t help feeling unsettled, thinking that maybe his release might account for the occasional feeling of being watched she’s experienced recently. Briefly, she considers letting Cas Demarco know about Scanlon’s release, but figures he’s unlikely to go after an elite operative and former SEAL who can more than look after himself. In any case, Demarco probably doesn’t even remember her – he’s been too busy making a name for himself in the HRT – and she’s too smart to make the same mistake twice. Demarco’s rejection five years ago almost killed her. She’s not about to go there again.

At the end of the work day, Delilah returns home to the apartment she’s sharing temporarily with her best friend, gets changed into her running gear and heads out on one of her usual routes – but she comes back forty-five minutes later to see smoke billowing into the sky, the block surrounded by fire trucks and people crowding round. Realising that Valerie has been killed and fearing that she (Delilah) was actually the target, she heads to her partner’s home - only to find him dead from a bullet to the head, a bullet fired from her own service weapon. There’s no doubt she’s being set up for murder, and no doubt in her mind as to who is responsible – but with the only available evidence pointing to her as the killer and nothing to prove her suspicions that Joseph Scanlon is somehow at the bottom of it, she has to think quickly. She knows she risks losing her job if she lets everyone believe she’s dead, but better her job than her life – and if Scanlon thinks she’s dead she’ll be better able to work to bring him down. But she can’t do it alone, and the only person she can turn to is the one man she’d hoped never to see or speak to again.

The story is thrilling, edge-of-the seat stuff as the author skilfully misdirects the reader with a trail of breadcrumbs that seems to lead to one particular conclusion while simultaneously showing us that it can’t be the correct one. It’s clever and twisty with some superb set-pieces and a strong sense of camaraderie among the various operatives brought on to the task force, but with a villain who is meticulously prepared and almost as familiar with law enforcement procedures as the heroes, Delilah and Cas have to work hard to out-think and out-run him. Scanlon is as well-trained as they are and he’s had a long time to plan his revenge.

I’d almost certainly have given Cold Spite a DIK grade had the romance been better developed. I liked Cas and Delilah individually and they make a great couple, but Delilah’s constant internal monologue of ‘He destroyed me once, I can’t let him do it again’ in the first part of the book is overkill, and while Cas certainly deserves to feel like a total shit for what he did to her, his thoughts about it and how he doesn’t deserve her are also repetitive. I did, however, appreciate their mutual honesty, especially in the scene where Delilah reveals the truth about what happened after they split; it’s painful to read and Cas’ regret is palpable and genuine. And Cas’ personal growth is shown when he finally admits the real reasons he left her. But the present day romance relies heavily on the fact that Cas and Delilah were in love five years earlier (we don’t see that romance either), and I can’t help feeling cheated at not getting to see them fall in love – then or now.

Even so, Cold Spite is a nail-bitingly good read and one I’d definitely recommend to fans of the genre. The plot is intricate and extremely well-structured, the action scenes are expertly written, and I really enjoyed following the clues and putting the puzzle together at the same time as the characters. There are several cameo appearances by other members of the Cold Justice family, and I particularly liked the friendship that develops between Delilah and cyber security expert Yael Brooks ( Cold Silence ). While the books in the Cold Justice series are designed to work as standalones, there are references to past events and appearances by other members of the FBI divisions (HRT, Negotiators etc.), which may be confusing for someone new to the author’s work, so it’s worth backtracking a little. Most of the books wrap up neatly, but while the bad guys are dealt with and Cas and Delilah get their HEA, Cold Spite ends on something of a bombshell - which has really whetted my appetite for the next in the series.

I’ve just spent my whole entire Sunday reading this book cover to cover and I’m exhausted and that’s just from reading this really great action packed book. The tension and the drama honestly never stops. You know when you open a packet of Jaffa Cakes and you just can’t stop at one? That’s me with any Toni Anderson book, I can’t stop until I’ve finished. So it’s just as well that I love Toni’s books (and Jaffa Cakes)

Review to come tomorrow when I’ve slept on my feelings for this book!

So I slept on it! I don’t know what Toni Anderson is putting in her book series but whatever the hell it is, I am ADDICTED!!
I love these characters and this world she has created. Book 20 in the series and there is absolutely no sign that it is slowing down or starting become stale, I look forward to each and every release. Toni Anderson IS the romance suspense author for me, believe me I have read many others but Toni just seems to have the magic touch when it comes to this genre (for me anyway)

FBI agents Delilah and Cas worked together 5 years ago on an undercover case which during they fell in love, but Cas decides to break it off with Delilah at the end of the case, leaving Delilah devastated in San Diego whilst he goes off to join the Hostage Rescue Team on the other side of the country.
5 years later the villain that they worked together to put away during their undercover case is released from prison and is hellbent on getting revenge on the people that put him in prison, which of course brings Delilah and Cas back together to get this bad guy back in prison again. This time with the help of some of the characters from previous books in the series and of course with help from Cas’s current Hostage Rescue Team colleagues. I absolutely love it when characters from some of my favourite books pop in to offer help and advice, it always makes me so happy.

There’s two particular story arcs that have been simmering away in the background since the beginning of this spin off series (Cold Justice-Most Wanted) that I’ve been eagerly following. What I thought we were getting next I don’t think we are now, but that’s okay, as I am very excited about what was hinted at in the final chapter of Cold Spite. I think this is the first time that Toni has ever left us on a cliffhanger, but you know what I’m here for it.
Back to waiting for book 21 now….I can’t wait!!!

4.5 stars!

I am not a ARC reader, I preordered and paid for my copy of this book, it (thankfully) was delivered earlier than expected.

4.5 stars. I haven't enjoyed an installment in Toni Anderson's long-running Cold Justice series as much since Cold & Deadly, which I continue to recommend as pitch-perfect, engrossing romantic suspense.

Even more impressive? Cold Spite is a second-chance romance, featuring two FBI agents who fell in love during an undercover mission but fell apart in the aftermath. Second-chance romance is tricky, but Anderson deftly balanced Cas and Delilah's feelings of regret, longing, anger and love. I rooted for them, even if I wanted to slap Cas at times. Moreover, Anderson maintained an appropriate ratio of romance and suspense. I love this subgenre, but it is irksome when characters let their *feels* intrude at inappropriate times (like, you know, stopping to make out when the bad guys are chasing them). I even started reading less in the subgenre, but Cold Spite restored my faith...for now 😅

The series continues to offer appealing supporting characters and intriguing subplots, and I look forward to reading more in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Delilah and Cas worked a case together once and she thought they’d be together as a couple forever. Unfortunately, Cas‘ insecurities made him break up in a way she’d never go after him. And it worked. And both of them were miserable in that regard. Fast forward five yrs. and add the villain that just got out of prison - they both are in danger of being picked up by the killer who’s out to tie up loose ends.
Another genius story out of tonight’s Andersons hand. Maybe not as suspenseful and thrilling as the previous books in the series but nevertheless absolutely worth your while.

Cold Spite is another fantastic read written by Toni Anderson. I loved the intrigue and romance. The characters are well developed. The plot and storyline kept me involved. I didn’t want to put the book down! No spoilers from me, but the plot twist at the end has me counting down until the next book in the series gets released!

Another great story by Toni Anderson! I'm so grateful to have received an ARC copy of this book! It was a suspenseful, steamy, found family second chance romance that captured me from the first page, and I can't wait for the next book!

I loved Delilah and her strength and resilience and grace under pressure. I really liked that she had this huge grudge, rightly so, against Cas, nut she was understanding as to his reasons for what he did, even if he was extremely harsh with himself for his previous actions. I liked that once everything came out, she didn't hold on to her hate and keep punishing him for a long period of time. And I loved Cas! He was so smart and sweet and remorseful from the very beginning, and I loved that he didn't let his ego or past get in the way of him moving forward and asking for and accepting forgiveness.

The crime and investigation was so well done in this book! That is one thing that I can always count on with Toni's books. She will create an intricate and convoluted crime that takes the reader on a journey of twists and turns and subverted expectations and theories. I enjoyed every second of this book and suggest that anyone who loved a good suspenseful romance with hot men in suits and tac gear and hot women with guns and a great story and investigation to pick up a Toni Anderson book!

This is such a fantastic book and I couldn’t stop reading. I went through so many emotions and didn’t expect to be so gutted by this book. I actually cried several times and I love when I feel the emotions so much. Cas and Delilah had helped put away a drug trafficker years ago. Cas really broke her heart, and when she escapes someone trying to kill her, she calls Cas. Who else want want her dead? She still trusts Cas. What a roller coaster of a book, how could this person be killing so many people? Loved staying on edge. Cas knows how hard he messed up, will she ever say she forgives him and still loves him? This book is worth re reading. Loved that they finally got a very happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

As we expect from this author, this is a very well written and researched book.
Some well loved characters from her other books appear in this and it was good to catch up with their lives.
I wasn't keen on Delilah at first. She was very hard on Cas, even after his heart-felt apologies, and a little self-pitying. But when I learned the full story, I understood better.
An intriguing storyline, complex plot and a nice twist at the end.
Allow plenty of time to read it and have tissues at the ready, as it's very emotional in parts.
Great read.

Delilah has received news that an ex colleague she testified against has been released early. When her home and her work partner are targeted she needs to stay dead but  can she trust Cas after the way he left her?
Cas is surprised by the news of Delilah's death and has regretted the way he left her. A call out of the blue means he may have a chance to make things right.
I was drawn in front the start and couldn't put the book down.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review."Cold Spite" marks the fifth installment in Toni Anderson's acclaimed Cold Justice: Most Wanted series. Anderson once again captivates her readers with a thrilling story. One that they will find irresistible, especially those who have a soft spot for stories about second chances at love.

In "Cold Spite," Anderson plunges her readers into a thrilling chase of wits between the protagonists and a vengeful ex-Navy SEAL. Delilah and Cas past undercover mission to dismantle a drug cartel saw them falling in love with each other. Their partnership was formidable, yet Cas's insecurities drove a wedge between them, ending their romance and leaving both heartbroken.

Five years on, the shadow of danger looms again, bringing a vengeful figure from their past to their doorstep. Despite the wounds of their past, Cas is the only one Delilah knows she can rely on to keep her safe and defuse the looming threat. Regret lingers heavily, particularly for Cas. Delilah struggles to move past the hurt he inflicted. Yet, in the face of their current dangerous situation, their reunion paves the way for healing, thus offering them a shot at mending fences and embracing a second chance at a happy ending.

The story's suspense kept me riveted throughout. Delilah's feigned death and the antagonist's pursuit of Cas and others, whom he held responsible for his imprisonment, escalated the tension. As the plot unfolds, it's intriguing to ponder how the villain consistently remained a step ahead, leaving no trace behind.

The story came packed with twists, turns, and surprises at every corner. Filled with action and high-stakes drama, Cold Spite will keep you flipping through the pages, eager to see what's coming next.

Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this latest offering from Toni Anderson. I look forward to the next book in the series. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

Cold Spite by Toni Anderson is the latest addition to her Cold Justice series.
So what can I tell you about this book? I laughed, I cried, I stayed up all night last night so I could finish it? It has high speed chases, gun fights, bombs, kidnappings. Characters from her other books show pop in and out of the story and we get to learn more about them. All true. But this book is so much more. The author writes about people and what drives them. How do they interact with the other characters? What are the most important things in their lives and what would they be willing to do to hold tight to that thing? Now you have a bunch of things to think about. How does any of that fit you?
Cold Spite is a stand alone book, but why would you only read this one? This rest of the books in the series are just as good and insightful and you get to learn more about many of the characters in this book. Hmmm. Think I’ll go back and re-read the rest of the series again!
I hope you enjoy this and the rest of the author’s books as much as I have!

Toni Anderson keeps killing the romantic suspense game!

Agent Delilah Quinn survives an attempt on her life, and even now, the world thinks she's dead. In order to catch the killer, she'll have to stay that way. With no other option, she's forced to call the one man she hates for help. Cas Demarco broke her heart 5 years ago when he calliously threw her and their future away like garbage. Now, she has to rely on him to help.

Delilah might think she's the only one hurting, but Cas broke both their hearts all those years years ago and has regretted it ever since. Now, not only does he need to help Delilah find the killer back from their past, but he also needs to prove to her they deserve a second chance. He never stopped loving her, but will it be enough?

This book was so freaking good! Dark and twisty, chemistry for days and oh so sad and sweet. Cas and Delilah had so much to overcome in their personal lives to find their happy ending; that's not counting the ruthless killer who keeps staying one step ahead of them. I also love it when characters from the past are part of the story, especially here as Cas finds his unconventional family. So freaking good! I loved every minute of Cold Spite!

After a successful operation, Delilah and Cas are free of their undercover alter egos and can get on with their fledgling romance. However, Cas' insecurities and a little familial interference from Delilah's dad, proves too much for him and doesn't just break them up, he breaks Delilah.

5 Years later and the scumbag they put away has been released for good behaviour. He has made himself even more identical to his twin. So how do you tell which twin is where? Especially when people involved in the case are killed in pretty awful ways.

When Delilah manages to survive the death planned for her, the only person she can trust is also the person who broke her! With Cas and a crew of some favourite FBI/HRT agents, Delilah sets out to prove that the former SEAL is responsible.

Cas and Delilah are a brilliant match. They may be polar opposites but the chemistry between them is anything but cold. Delilah may feel that he is the devil in disguise but she also knows he is honest and trustworthy. She really made him work for that second chance. The terror twins were creeping me out big time. I nearly hurled my kindle across the room several times and I'll admit I let out more than a few expletives as the chilling murder spree continued.

There are a few cameos from former MC's from previous books, including my favourites Linc and Alex Parker! There are enough twists to keep you satisfied and the smexy scenes are appropriate and well placed. The pacing was great and I still insist all this authors books should be made into film/tv shows!

I was never quite sure how the story was going to end and I'm happy that I got elements of the plot right but not everything. Such a great series, I wait with bated breath for the next one!

Every time. I'm telling you every time, Toni blows me away with her stories. This one broke me at the beginning. But every page I read put me back together. As always, I try so hard to figure out the twists and turns that keep me never wanting to put the book down. Cas and Delilah were just incredible. Cas's back story will have you feeling all kinds of emotions, and everything Delilah goes through will have you right there, too. They both go through so much, and seeing how much Cas has grown and how much he loves Delilah will have your heart pounding. The bad guy in this story will give you chills, and how he does things will leave you guessing until the very end. That ending? Where is the next book?! What can I say, as per usual, another incredible story written by the amazing Toni Anderson!

Toni Anderson does it again with another installment of the Cold Justice: Most Wanted series. This time we meet FBI Agent Delilah Quinn and FBI Hostage Rescue Operator Cas Demarco. They have history with one another – unresolved history.

This was an action packed story filled with intrigue. Delilah knew who was responsible for the death and destruction but couldn’t prove it. After all, how can someone be in two different places at once? When a task force is created to help solve the case, we’re met with several characters from past books. It’s always fun to get another glimpse into their lives.

I just knew sparks would soon fly once Cas and Delilah were together again. Thankfully they were able to put their pasts behind them and not only work together on solving the case, but also on a future together.

This book can be read as a standalone, so don’t worry about jumping right into this series with this book. But be warned, you’ll find yourself going back and reading them all!

As usual, I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Intense & fabulous with SO MANY LAYERS!!

Wow - this book gripped me from the first chapter. Man that one was rough, but sets the tone for this gripping story.

This may be one of my top Toni Anderson reads which is saying A LOT as I love her books. Delilah and Cas are undercover and lovers who are torn apart when they enter back into the real world. One could say that was all a certain person’s fault…but I digress.

Now it’s five years later and the person they thought would be put away for a long time seems to be out and is wreaking some crazy havoc aimed directly at FBI Agent Delilah Quinn and all who “wronged” him. She reluctantly reaches out to Operator Casta Demarco to give him a heads up since he might be next.

What ensues is definitely a cat and mouse game of epic proportions. Add in identical twins and a diabolically well thought out plot and you have the riveting suspense that is this story.

This one will tear your heart out, leave you on the edge of your seat, and then jaw dropping shockers. This was such a well done story with so many layers to peel back. I adored this book!!

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

Another hit from Toni Anderson

Like always, the drama and suspense hit right from the start to the end, keeping you guessing.
The 2nd chance romance hit all emotions, with some ugly cries added in there
It definitely worked through a range of other topics - family, law enforcement, personal medical drama, and the workings of DNA within law enforcement. A lot of thinking points
Slight cliff hanger at the end, leaving you wanting more.
I was lucky enough to be offered an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review

Toni is one of my favourite authors and this is another fantastic book by her.

Cas and Delilah had history, Cas never believed in himself enough to fight for her. Cas was though more than enough and throughout the book slowly started to believe in himself.

I love any book with Alex in, always a pleasure having him and Lincoln appear! Along with the rest of the HRT.

The suspense element of the book was brilliant and kept me turning page after page to reach the end. Totally enthralling and so enjoyable to read! As usual the ending has me so excited for the next book in the series!

Oh, Toni, you outdid yourself with this one! What a great book, fabulous characters and loved seeing past characters come back to join the fun! Cas and Delilah were so real, you felt their pain, your felt their triumphs. This was a thriller from page 1. Stayed up way too late to read each night as I just had to see what happened next! With the carrot you dangled at the end of the book, I can not wait to read Cold Truth!!! (This book has a clear ending and does NOT have a cliff hanger ending).

FBI agent Delilah Quinn worked undercover with Cas Demarco several years ago. Cas broke Delilah’s heart and she’ll never forgive him. Five years later someone sets Delilah’s house on fire and killed her best friend. Everyone believes she’s dead so she’ll stay that way until she finds out who done it. Cas is now a member of FBI Hostage Rescue Team, the job he left Delilah for, and is devastated when he hears the news about Delilah. Then she calls him to warn him it may be the former SEAL they put away when they were undercover. A bomb in Cas’s truck explodes at a decorated FBI agents funeral now CAs and Delilah are forced to stay together. A task force is set up when an admiral and his wife are murdered who was responsible for the killer’s SEAL trident being removed. Can they find the killer before Delilah is really killed? Will Delilah forgive Cas?

I probably say this every time but this is the best one yet. Cas doesn’t know what a family really means. Delilah was hurt by Cas and is not ready to forgive him. Action. Secrets. Some steamy parts. Second chance for love. It really has everything to make a good story.

A masterpiece of romantic suspense

This twisty thrill ride kept me riveted. The romance was angsty but also relatable and realistic. And the suspense was perfectly plotted. I’m always trying to guess who the baddie is or what will happen next. I had no clue. This guy is as smart as he is spiteful. Cas and Delilah do get some help from previous heroes and of course the HRT teams were called in, I love the updates on the supporting cast. The pacing was on point, there was never a slow moment. This is definitely one of my favorite books in this genre. Don’t miss it.
