This novel was hard novel for me to rate.
On the one hand, parts of it,
was a 5 star rating,
and on the other hand,
parts of the novel was 3 stars, at best.

I had several issues, that some Christians,
may or may not, find troublesome.

One, which was just more tiring to me, was the time travel,
both back and forward in time....
there was quite a bit of that.

But what I found more troubling,
was the seemingly Pentecostal leaning.

It came across to me, almost,
that unless you were reacting to a sermon
with great emotional fervor,
you might need to wonder if you were really saved.

And along with that,
some characters would get a 'word from the Lord',
for another character.

That always seems problematic to me,
on several fronts.
It often seems like adding to scripture,
and that of course, is Biblically forbidden,

But also, why doesn't God give His Word, directly,
to the person it is intended for?

I am not Pentecostal so,
those parts ( and a few others)
were troubling to me,
but perhaps not so troubling, for others.

However, there were some beautiful parts,
based on scripture, that brought me to
ahem... silent tears.

Nevertheless, I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Love the historical interweaving of the Great Awaking evangelists into today's time.

It was great to see Jimmy interacting with the gifted evangelists of the Great Awakening. Such a profound time of God's move on the early settlers just getting freedom from the church-state form of worship!

Amazing Read of Biblical Proportions

This is the first book I have read in this series. It will not be the last. What a wonderful tale of faith, danger, time travel and the nearing end of days.

Present meets the Past

I like how this book played out by referring to the past from the current day in time filling in all the blanks of the past we did not have access to at the time.

very interesting twist on the story

Traveling but in the past was a very interesting twist. It is a good read with a lot of Christian history weaved in.
