Full rtc in the morning

Another beautiful cover 🦋 Course I need to read this after that cliffy and the alpha dropkick that runs the school, add in the missing best friend I need answers. And as soon as this one went live and it landed on my ipad I jumped right in.

That altercation with Trent that isn't simmering down anytime soon
That car racing towards her
The fact her friend is missing and no one has any answers
And lets not forget these guys and their secrets, the kings who rule with an iron fist.

I need answers!

The plot thickens
And still we’re left with questions unanswered and another cliffhanger!

50% in so far and Lux is a ... whole force to be reckoned with. Like she is I'm her own right, absolutely an amazing FMC. .. let me get on too Roman... I swear he is the walking and talking red flag we love to hate in real life, but in this book community he is EVERYTHING... but let me tell you, his reasoning for wanting Lux just makes him a whole no-go.. I still love him though...

Okay be right back, let me get back to reading this.

I'm back... &&& let me tell you.. I'm freaking screaming right now!! Ugh.. I have a love hate relationship with Roman.. I want to really love Ash... but I don't know... lol.. there's too many secrets.. and poor Lux...

Thus to say.. I'm in this series for the long haul.

Geez 🫠… this series just keeps getting better and better!! Again I devoured this book in about two days lol 😂 I just couldn’t get enough of “ Roman & Lux’s” toxic relationship! The elements of this story just kept me wanting more! The Lies, the backstabbing deceit , the mystery, the hot surfer boys 🫠…This may be a “Dark Romance “ but those also a huge mystery to be solved and I can’t wait to read the next book in the “Legacy of Lies” series!!

The “MMC” Roman … I really have a love/hate relationship with him lol 😂 He is one big walking Red Flag but yet my heart also breaks for him. He was abused by his father and there is one thing he said in this book that stuck with me. “ Hurt People “…Hurt People “ and it’s just heartbreaking. 💔❤️‍🩹
The “MFC” Lux … I just want to shake her and say “Why are you still with this monster “ but she definitely has grow more of a backbone in this book. But I know in the end she’s going to end up getting hurt by the “Roman Rush”
Overall … this book ends again with unanswered questions and I’m looking forward to the continuation of “ Roman & Lux’s” toxic but addictive story! ❤️‍🔥

Favorite Quotes ~

Lux~”His dark wavy hair is mussed, and there’s a scratch running along his cheekbone. I swallow, averting my gaze. Why does the devil have to be so damn handsome?”

Roman~ “She plays innocent, but there’s something dark inside her, too. Something that pulls at me in ways I hadn’t anticipated. And I just want to taste it. That darkness.”

A slow build romance, fast on the action, hard on the angst.
I can’t wait for book three.
This is so well written, beautifully executed , and wonderful characters
I just loved every moment of reading this book.

There are some triggers so be mindful.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

This is such a great sequel and kept me hooked from the very beginning. It was nice to a growth in Lux and it was great to see more of her relationship with Roman. Roman is a red flag from hie head to his toes but it is clear to see that he really does care for Lux. Lux wants to listen to her head to run as far from Roman as she can but her heart won't let her. Im so ready to see what happens in the next book.

Say It Slowly is the second installment in the Legacy of Lies series and the continuation of Lux and Roman's love-hate relationship. Both Lux and Roman cannot decide where their feelings are heading. Roman has a job to do that involves Lux, and he's not supposed to be developing feelings. However, here he is all confused about where his head and heart are heading. Then, there's Lux...she knows that she finds Roman attractive physically, but his personality leaves a lot to be desired. Can't forget to mention that the physical attraction and moments between them are top tier and leave nothing to be desired. Both their needs are met in that aspect, but we all know that a relationship cannot thrive on purely physical attraction and meeting physical needs. Therefore, Lux isn't happy.

Being Roman's consort means a lot of openings for Lux that wouldn't have been the case if she were your typical girl on campus. She's the Queen, and with being the Queen comes along a lot of choices to make and enemies made, as if she weren't already a target for being a chosen one when she isn't even a Debutante in the Burning Crown.

All of that being said...not much has changed from Tell Me You Like It. Bree, her best friend, is still missing, and Lux is searching desperately for answers. She's still the target of the Debs, all over jealously. However, she has a new enemy, Tyler, the Burning Crown member who tried to SA her the night of the Preference Ceremony, and with his new actions, he's gaining followers - making Lux a target among the Burning Crown members who don't recognize her as Queen. You know, typical secret society drama and chaos. Roman isn't having it, though. He and the other three Sacred Sons have taken it upon themselves to protect her. Although protected, Lux has grown quite the backbone. She's not just defending herself, she's making choices, standing by them, and demanding answers surrounding the disappearance of her best friend.

With all the chaos going on, Lux and Roman are playing quite the game of cat and mouse when it comes to their relationship, and there are a few Easter eggs dropped regarding Roman's brother, James. My biggest question being: Is Lux the woman James is madly in love with? Trust me, you'll be asking the same question, along with: What the hell did he do to end up behind bars?

Once again, Evelyn Austin ends the book on one steep cliffhanger, making you beg for more. She had us begging for more at the end of Tell Me You Like It, right? I mean, you finish the first book thinking she can't leave you hanging much worse than that, but...she goes and does it. This time, though, you may just jump off that cliff wanting answers and knowing you have to wait. Not only can she weave a story full of thrill and mystery and dark romance, but she can drag it out successfully without disappointment. This is a series that I'm glad is a series and not a standalone. Evelyn Austin has you eagerly waiting on the edge of your seat.

Book three will be released towards the end of May. Trust me...books two and three have to be read first. You can't just dive into the middle of the series and expect to know what's going on like you can do with some dark romance series. This is a must read in order, and it's well worth four books.

As the second in a series it is a definite requirement to have read the first book, 'Tell Me You Like It" before adventuring down this dark little mysterious romance story, otherwise you will be rather lost.

To me this was a bit of a slow burn but holey doley I am so loving this series to date!
In my mind I keep trying to figure out what the real 'big' overriding plot idea is but I have no idea, which is why this is so perfect because at any minute I could be thrown into disarray but the sheer suspense and mystery of all these curious connections. It has a sense of darkness to it that really creates this degree of depth to both the plot and its characters, oh and the characters of Roman and Lux are so volitile to each other that it provides such heated tensions between them, that the sexual frustrations and chemistry is so delicious. The sense of privilege is outstanding amongst the characters and within the story's setting and it creates a backdrop for some real emotional scenarios to play-out which also drives you to just want or need to keep reading. But the big thing is that there is still so many questions to be answered and just how does it all connect to one another... I have no idea! Hence another cliffhanger to leave readers stewing over the whole mystery!
If you enjoy the tropes of bully to lovers, possessive alpha males, secret societies, college romances, touch her and die connectations and revenge then this just might be the type of series you need to checkout for yourself. One thing for sure I desperately need answers from the next book and hopefully a HEA!

This serie got better with this installment. It got me on my toes all the time and I just loved every second of their toxic relation. How they are drawn to each other while the secrets keep building around. I do need the third part of this as soon as possible pretty please!

Easily another 5 star for me! The mystery continues, the banter, the strong and stubborn FMC continues. She does not give it up easy and I LOVE that about her. This was devoured so fast I just had to know what happened next. I just want the third book now so dang bad! Seriously read this, it's a quick and very entertaining read with mystery all wrapped up into a dark romance.

Okay also, how does she write such good cliffhangers?!

The typos continue but I’m not mad - the story is fun and sexy and I don’t mind looking beyond spelling and grammatical errors.

That said, if Roman turns into a sappy puppy dog, I’ll snap.

Lux, the FC, doesn't put up with much ... especially a man trying to control her. On her quest to find her missing friend she turns dorms a semi bond with the campus King Roman Rush. I hope book 3 comes out soon because just like the FC, I want to know the truth!

The first book was great but this second book was even better. The characters pov is one of my favorite things about the book. I love that we get both and not just one. Can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out and to uncover some more deception from the characters.

THIS IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF AN UNDERRATED DARK ROMANCE BOOK.

WARNING: It’s not written for beginners or for people who haven’t read dark romance before — it’s a very dark series.

Since I discovered and read Rina Kent’s Royal Elite and Legacy of Gods series, as a fan of the genre I’ve only been looking for books that have that perfect combination of backstories that aren’t overly traumatic, set in an elite environment with secret societies. I’ve only found three other series that meet those standards, and this is one of them. It hooked me from the very first minute.

'Say it slowly' is the second book of the Legacy of Lies series, written by Evelyn Austin. I want to thank @evelynaustinauthor for sending me this book as an eARC in exchange for an honest review. So lets get into it.

So I want to start by saying that I was still a little unsure about this series after reading the first book. Mostly because of the amount of questions and the lack of (hints towards) answers. But I have to say I'm very happy that I held on and read this book, because these problems are no more. I love that I have now enough information to test theories I have about the plot, but I could still get surprised through the story.

The characters are still as strong as in the first book. The fact that we learn more about Roman (just as Lux does), makes it easier to understand his behavior. Don't get me wrong he is still a walking red flag, but I have to say I'm not mad about it🫣.

This book is spicier than the first one and if you are easily triggered by nature content I really advise you to go to the authors website for the specific trigger warnings. It didn't bother me at all but I can see how some subjects and scenes can be triggering for people.

So I liked this book way more and I can't wait for Roman and Lux' story to continue in the next book because that ending was just criminal 😅.

🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶Tie my up, turn down the lights. Better look me in the eye.
When you make hate to me, when you make hate to me. It’s for nothing to do with love, hearts are numb where we came from. Darling, make hate to me, don’t be shy. I don’t care if takes all night
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

I AM SO INVESTEDDDDDDD !!!!!!!

I liked the first book a lot but this one OMG.
They are sooooooooooo toxic and hot at the same time.
The mystery continues. The plot thickens. They CONSUME each other. They are both so confused, conflicted, attracted to each other. The absolute hate each other but can’t be apart of.
Roman starts to question his sanity. He can’t like her, she is the source of his pain, he needs to save his brother. But at the same time he wants her so much and he can’t control her. She is stubborn, she fights him every step of the way, she doesn’t fold easily and he love is but also HATES IT.
Lux is STRONG AND STUBBORN! She doesn’t allow him to walk allover her. He is the king of the school but not of her heart (yet) and she defies him in every single way she can. She is worry about the disappearance of her best friend, she seems to be the only one sick about this, she never stoped looking, she does all she can but not a single person cares, not ever Bree’s parents.
Also there is an under plot going on and it’s “Death to the Queen” , a lot people want Lux gone and as it right now, not even the Sacred Sons know why and who are behind this. I suspect Ash. I might eat my words later if he is cool, but as it right now he seems too nice, too squeaky clean. Also Nathan is suspicious to me. Hahahaha ! At this point I suspect everyone.
Will Roman be able to carry their plan on. Now he knows his brother is not as innocent as he thought……
We’ll see!

🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I hate you , you hate me. I think we both know why. So bad for each other, that don’t kill the appetite. You bend me. You break me. And then we press rewind. We can’t fight the hunger, willing victims every time. Every time you cross my mind it’s like a moth drawn to the flame. I don’t know why we cross that line. Guess we crave the misery

OMG THE CLIFFHANGERS IN THIS SERIES ARE INSANE!! BOOK 2 HANDS DOWN A MIX OF SPICY ANGST & SHOCKING TWISTS.

Wow, this author has totally kept me glued to this story from book 1 to book 2 there isn't a dull moment here. The dark themes continue with even more progression in this book. This book picks up right where the last one ended so yes you definitely need to read these in order. Make sure you check TW and read responsibly.

Lux and Roman have let out a darkness that each has never fully embraced before one another. Get ready to see a whole new unhinged version of Roman and Lux showing a more dominant side where she wants to deal out pain. These two have that enemies-to-lovers vibe going strong here. Let's just say the spice and tension-filled angst is chef kisses perfection and also the suspense is becoming more intense than before. Lux just wants to find her best friend Bree but unfortunately keeps hitting wall after wall making her wonder who she can trust and where is her friend at. No leads and a cryptic note make Lux more determined than ever to find Bree and figure out about Roman and his family. With Lux's distrust, Roman is forced to play nice or as nice as he can be in this case until he has to admit he has more feelings than he thought when it comes to Lux.

Get ready for the crazy unhinged side of Roman now and his war against his emotions where Lux is concerned. Lux is dealt a lot of shocking blows in this book but the cliffhanger is one that has you filled with high emotions and the need for answers now. Book 3 can't come soon enough now!

I highly recommend this series because it delivers the intense chemistry and intrigue of mystery surrounding all these characters. It's got the perfect amount of angsty and spicy moments mixed in with suspense that has you devouring the story as fast as you can.

Overall: 5/☆☆☆☆☆

This is the second book in “The Legacy of Lies Series” - I could not put it down! The story of Lux and Roman continues and their relationship develops. Roman is totally obsessed with Lux and this scares him. He has never been so obsessed with someone before - he is consumed mentally and physically by her. He is scared of what will happen if she sees what he is really like! Lux tries to control her emotions, her feelings - is she starting to let her guard down? He scares, her but at the same time she feels safe with him. Deep down, she knows that Roman is her protector - body and soul!

As the story continues, so does the sexual tension between. The pages, at times, are sizzling with sexual tension 🥵🥵 Slowly they are opening up about their past and how it has impacted on them. This is all new territory for Roman, could he be falling in love with Lux? I cannot wait for the next book in this series 😊😊

A thoroughly enjoyable read from page to page, one chapter to the next - at times you are metaphorical “on the edge of your chair” wondering what will happen next. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊

📖 Say It Slowly by Evelyn Austin @evelynaustinauthor

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ / 5

Release Date: April 29, 2024

This was even better than Book 1 and I fucking LOVED Book 1. We’re getting more information on the threat against Lux in this book and more information about Lux’s and Roman’s past. The characters are fantastic and I’m so invested in their story🥹 The plot is plotting, but y’all know I’m here for the spice, so let’s discuss 🍷

(Evil Laughter)😈 Reading Roman’s downward spiral for Lux was better than I could have expected 🤌🏽💋 This man has zero control over his reactions to her and is lying TO HIS OWN SELF about his feelings 😂 (I should feel bad, but he’s such a controlling asshole that I get deep pleasure from his discomfort.) This man is 👏🏽 OB 👏🏽 SESSED but has the emotional intelligence of a teaspoon, so he’s just left floundering 🤣 Poor little rich boy has met his match, and it is soooo satisfying to witness 😇 Book 1 was a slow burn, but they’ve broken the seal and have that kind of chemistry that makes your throat tight whenever they’re together.

Just FYI, there was some mild cheating, and I know that’s a hard “no” for some readers. This book is getting a bit darker than Book 1 and I’m interested to see how dark it’s gonna get 🤔

I am desperate for the last two books. I love these characters, the plot, the mysteries, the secrets… everything. 🫶🏽 Thank you, Evelyn for this ARC. Please, drop everything else in your life and get us the next two books ASAP (Kidding… kinda)

TLDR: Oh, I love this series!! If you want a spicy mystery, read this!

Book two in the Legacy of Lies series and it didn't disappoint!!!

This book continues on from book one. And guess what? I bet you guessed it. You're in for another cliffhanger lol.

Lux's best friend Bree is still missing, and she's still trying to find where she is or who's she's with, with no help from anyone, including the police and university. Damon makes it a goal of his to try to find some information so that Lux can be more fixated on him and less on her best friends' disappearance.

Lux is still fighting Damon on everything and is still messing up Damons plans to have her fall for him so he can "destroy her".

But what I love most about this book, is when the MMC (Damon) starts realizing that he may be falling for the girl who's supposed to be destroying.

I also enjoyed how Lux and Damon started opening up to each other a little bit more, even though Damon was doing it to try to show her his "nice" side lol.

I very much enjoyed this read and can't wait for book 3 to come out which I just found out is TOMORROW!!!! Lets gooooo. Highly recommend.

OTT JP Morally grey hero

I never, ever leave 5⭐ reviews for books that need proofreading, but here I am.

This is the second book in the Legacy of Lies series. A continuation of Roman and Lux's story. This book is in the dark college romance for a reason. The unhealthy relationship between the two main characters is enthralling? Making me obsessed? Obviously, I don't subscribe to this in real life, but for books? Yes, please.

In book 2, Lux is still looking for her bestie, Bree, who went missing in book 1. She also is experiencing trauma responses to the way Roman is treating her. We only know a tidbit about her past and although, not fully explained yet, why Roman is so determined for revenge.

This book is ONLY for those who enjoy BDE, OTT/JP, Morally grey heroes. If you don't know what that means, walk away. However, if that's your jam???? Overlook the typos and welcome Roman into your life.

PS this ends on a cliffhanger and two additional books are going to be released at the end of May and June, respectively.

Ahhh!!! Lux, Roman, and the gang are back at it again!!!

Say it Slowly starts back where we left off with book 1, Tell Me You Like It. Lux tries to escape Roman’s grasp, but finds herself relying on him even more when she realizes how much danger she’s in. With her bestie still missing, Lux battles hard with convincing people that something’s seriously wrong and keeping herself from falling at the feet of the campus king, Roman.

With his feelings surfacing, Roman fights himself hard to stick to the plan and feel absolutely NOTHING for Lux. This proves hard when an ominous message is left threatening her life and Roman takes some unorthodox measures to keep her close and safe from the darkness outside. Did someone say one bed? Mmhmm!

The two head strong characters battle it out with multiple power play struggles, steamy, dubious consent scenes, and a whirlwind of “ew. Feelings.”

For the dark romance readers, this is another good book to add to your bookshelf!

Rarely do I find myself sucked into the second book as much as the first but this has some magic mixed in because here I am...finishing this at 3 am. Roman is going through the emotional wringer. He's having to use vulnerability and softness in a way he's never done before to get to Lux. That softness melted me even though he acted out in anger and made questionable choices. He's the damaged boy learning how to deal with all his feelings Lux provokes from him. Lux is just trying to survive. I loved getting to see a bit of the queen in her rear it's head but she can still acts out defensively, adding to the angst in her and Roman's unconventional relationship. I genuinely can't wait for the third book of this series because while I think we can guess some of the secrets, I have a feeling this author has a few surprises up her sleeve. I'm definitely hanging on the edge of my seat to see how this plays out

This story just keeps getting better! If you read "Tell Me You Like It" then this book is a huge step up in the storyline - you get to see a different side of Lux, which I love. You also get to dive a little more into Roman and what he is up to. The mystery behind Bree, her best friend, is starting to unfold, but there is still so much unknown and more pieces fall into Lux's lap.
I found myself laughing, oohing and ahhing and cheering Lux on. She is starting to find the inner power that she has inside of her.
Roman is the king of the campus. He oozes power, and Lux is still fighting him. You learn more about him and his past in this book, and I am definitionally starting to get a soft spot for him.
This book was a fast read - the storyline, mystery, the banter between Lux and Roman ... and the spice! Talk about "hate sex".
The book ends on a big cliffhanger, I was not expecting that at all!

As always, Evelyn had me hooked, lined, and sinkered straight from the beginning.

This whole trilogy has the most beautiful covers EVER. Cover aside, Evelyn really has a captivating way of writing this series. I personally can't deal with cliffhangers, I'm not emotionally stable to be hanging on to the ending of a book wondering what's going to happen next. But with Evelyn's cliffhangers, I'm okay to hang and know the next book will give me the closure and answers I need LOL.

I knew the first book was great and was going to be hard to top, but this second book was just as packed with the plot twists, betrayals, toxic men, angst filled storyline and so many suspenseful turns. It was a bit of a slow burn, but it did pick up and kept my attention throughout. Roman is so unhinged and such a walking red flag that I could not get enough of his toxic self! I need more and book 3 to drop ASAP!!!

Oh my goodness. This book was just as amazing as the first one. And the cliffhanger was twice as bad. Why do I do this to myself, and Mrs. Evelyn why do you do this to your readers.

Lux and Roman are even more amazing then I remember form the first book. She is a sassy, stubborn, bratty FMC, and he is Dominant, turning sweet, gets what he wants and doesn't take no MMC, and together they are fire and gasoline. I was happy we got to know a little bit more about the background of Lux and Roman, but the main picture is still blurry. I think I am starting to piece it together and I can not wait for book 3 to see if I'm right. I have my fingers and toes crossed that the last statement Roman made is FALSE because my heart just can't take it if its true (trying not to ruin the surprise) and if it is true I wonder what more will be revealed. I can't wait!!!
