Let me first say I went into the book hating the FMC from the previous book. Korine was irredeemable in my mind.
I was wrong.
The author had me laughing crying and when I got to the cliffhanger ending I gasp!
Korine, after years of sacrificing herself for her sister, finally gets to love her happily ever after, after every unimaginable thing she went through in the previous books. You want to hate her but the author does a damn good job of making you feel all the emotions she goes through. I’m already dying for the next one but don’t want this series to end!

This was mostly about the sisters healing than about the lead. The writer has a way to drag the story without building my anxiety to skip to the last chapter. Now looking forward to the last and final chapter.

Not my favorite in the series
I should start by saying that I loved the first two books of the series and the first 3 books of the series are a re-read for me. It had been a few years and I’ve been having trouble finding books that I actually finish lately without struggling through.
When I finished the last book I immediately clicked Read Now to move on to the next book and didn’t read the book summary because I assumed it was more of the same. I was wrong. I mean, I probably would have read it anyway but I wouldn’t have spent the first few chapters confused as it was focused on her sister (the cover along should have given that away but sometimes I’m slow on the uptake) and waiting for it to get back to the FMC for the series. I’m also not the biggest on FF and there was definitely that here…understandably considering the plot and it worked, it’s just not my thing when reading.
With that being said, it was good…just not great. The characters were well developed and for the most part the decisions and actions throughout made sense. It’s pretty trauma filled so if that’s not your thing then this isn’t the book for you.
Would I read it again as a part of the series, yes. Would I have read it again as a standalone, no.
On to book 4, and the final in the series.

So to start with this book switches to a different main character. The first two books were about Araiya but this book focuses on Korrine. It was a slight surprise because I felt that the last chapter is Chained was a slight cliffhanger so thought Araiya would have more to her story in book 3.
All in all it was a good book. Warning to definitely check your triggers before reading because this book definitely deals with some dark stuff. I enjoyed the growth that you get to see in Korrine but honestly hated every adult that has ever been in her life. I know that Araiya was ‘meant for great things’ but they essentially sacrificed Korrine to deal with all the trauma and dark stuff to save Araiya from dealing with it.
I loved the sibling relationship that grows between her and Roky. It is so sweet and good for both of them. All in all it was a good story and I cannot wait to see what book 4 has in store.

I have no idea how she did it, and I swore I would never switch over to the “I like Kora” train, but here I am! COMPLETELY SWITCHING OVER! I have no idea how the author has not only managed to write such a fantastic and well written story, but has somehow also managed to take a character that, let’s face it, no one liked, and make her not only relatable, but make us love her as much as we love Araiya!

Tried again, but …
The storyline is still interesting. The characters are still engaging. The execution is still struggling.
Pros:
Redeeming character arcs. Interesting world and plot expansion. Nice plot twist.
Cons:
This book’s start is jarring. Left book two at a HUGE place in the storyline. Started book three with a different MC focus. Frustrating, but I rolled with it. The storyline moved forward. Thought the other storyline would fold into new storyline. NOPE. Our main MC reappears. HUGE jump in plot occurred off page. NOTHING is explained.
Sentence structure issues. Wrong tenses. Missing words. Wrong words used. Misspelled words. Incorrect pronoun usage. Incorrect or missing punctuation.
Please please please get a critique partner, beta readers, or an editor. This could be an amazing equally character/plot-driven world.
I can’t continue reading a book/series that drives me out of the storyline more than it sucks me in. This is it for me in this world.

This book dives right into why Alicia has her trigger warnings in every book.
I am not a Korine fan but this book has made me respect her. I don't have to like her.
We learn more of Ember's journey as well. A lot happened, the war has advanced. Araiya learns a new truth of her life.
I had tears, goosebumps, and even shock and anger and I can not wait to read book 4. I need answers after that cliffhanger!

Kora's story was good but it felt out of place and made me disoriented with the main storyline. I finished book 2 expecting to jump right into the continuation of Rai's story since she finally met Cal. But no, the storyline got completely deviated. I obviously haven't read book 4 yet, but I hope it picks up right were 2 left off.
This book would have been better placed as the last book as a lookback to how Kora got her powers and healing.

Uh, kick ass story!
I wasn't expecting thos book to be 100% the sister's pov but it was still good. Also, her description of her rape? Jesus lord, I haven't that kind of depiction before.
Did I just cry like a baby at Fin's death? Oh yeah. The author isn't scared to kill off people. I can you that much.
I'm assuming that the father is one of Soren's mate and her mother was Soren. And I'm assuming she's half chosen, half dragon.

WHAT!
This book leaves a lot of twists and turns and what is going on (in a good way!).. Mostly, it's Corine's side of the war prep, but also her healing from books 1&2. It's not my favorite of the series, but still a good story.
Leaves you on a massive, what just happened, cliffhanger. 😭

Absolutely loved it! The trigger warnings in the beginning are absolutely there for a reason, so you have been warned. I went into this series out of order (starting with this book, which is book 3 in the series) and I STILL enjoyed it. Would and do recommend. Can't wait for book 4!

How can you end a book on that kind of plot twist!? That was just cruel! Lol this book differs from the previous two as it was told from Korine’s point of view. This is FF romance between Korine and her mate.

Ehh...
The book wasn't bad, but I hate when a series jumps between two or more main protagonists. It's exhausting and hard to keep up with what happened to the other in between. It's just not my cup of tea.

This book we focuses on korine and her journey becoming a chosen. We get to see her grow and overcome her fears. We also learn new twists in the battle to come and a new secret at the end which leaves the book on an evil cliffie. I can't wait for book 4
