The road has always been Gray’s home… until he meets Spike.
Putting down roots was never part of Gray’s plan. After his father died, he needed to get away from it all. But being a lone wolf on the road isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Desperation led him to trusting the wrong alpha, and now he’s being hunted. Gray finds the biggest, meanest biker bear he could find to save him. Little did Gray know that destiny sent him a fierce protector for a reason.
No matter what he does, Spike can’t seem to outrun his past. When a stray omega stumbles into a bar, seeking his help, Spike’s protective instincts flare up. Sweet, headstrong, and brave, Gray is unlike anyone Spike has ever met. But Spike doesn’t believe he’s suitable mate material. When their relationship is put to the ultimate test, will Spike be able to be what Gray needs, or will he once again fail the one he loves?
“Spike” is an M/M shifter romance and the 13th installment in the Moon Burrow Bears series.
This is the 12th book in the Moon Burrow Bears series. This is the story of Spike and Gray. Spike is an alpha grizzly bear shifter who belongs to the Moon Burrow MC. Gray is a omega wolf shifter that has never put down roots and travels along where ever the mood strikes him. Only this time he has picked the wrong alpha. Sensing that things are not what they seem, Gray runs away. But they are not willing to let him go without a fight. Luckily he runs into Spike and Nitro at The Dirty Stallion. Spike helps him avoid his troubles and brings him back to Moon Burrow to recover. The two slowly begin to learn about each other. Then Gray's problem come back with a vengeance. I liked how characters from previous books show up in this book. The only off putting thing for me, was the evil surprise. It seemed to copy Colin from the books Bash and Arrow. I felt like we had already experience something like that before. I found it took me out of the story. While the situation wasn't exactly the same, it was close enough that I found it disappointing. Other than that, I enjoyed this book very much. A great escape for an afternoon.

'He was looking at me like I was either going to eat him right up or I was his savior. Either way, I didn’t mind either options.'
I love stories where the strong alpha steps up to protect an omega in need, so I was looking forward to this story. Good world building and I pretty hooked to the start hearing Gray at his lowest point and forced to ask help from a stranger even though his instincts told him to run. Spike is still haunted by a loss from when he was younger and stopped for a drink at a bar after visiting the cemetery. Gray- having been chased- went up to the most powerful alpha he could find. The chemistry between Gray and Spike was immediate. And Spike stepped up to defend Gray, causing trouble between the different MCs before he brought Gray home with him under their protection. I liked the way their relationship developed and the looming danger added excitement. A fun read. 5 stars.
After seeing Spike in his best friend's book, I wanted to see him find his HEA. I liked his friendship with Nitro very much. Now he meets Gray, his fated wolf shifter mate, but it's not all plain sailing, just as in the rest of the series. This time, it's a very nasty wolf and his equally horrid sidekick who stand between their happiness, and they have deadly back up that no one saw coming. I enjoyed seeing familiar characters from the extended Moon Burrow bear and raven family, with Venom always my favourite. This had all the usual problems of wrong names, missing words, hazy timelines and story line inconsistencies but it was a sweet romance, and I hope to see the deadly back up again, in much better circumstances hopefully.
Part of the Moon Burrow Bears series each can be read as a standalone with bear shifter and the one who captures their undivided attention. Spike is a grizzly shifter with a past. He lost his best friend when they were younger. He has always felt responsible visiting his grave allows him to visit and, on his way, back he runs into a wolf shifter on the run very scared, so he helps him. Gray is sweet but being bullied by an alpha who has evil intentions for/towards Gray, so he runs with the help of Spike and Nitro he gets away but with Gray being Spike’s mate he isn’t going to let anything happen to him but with the bad blood between him and Jake where are they headed, will Jack allow him to just walk away with his play toy, will he protect his mate, and can they both find happiness?
Good story about the inner voice. Gray, left home and went walk about. He didn't always enjoy his travels. One night, he was desperate and asked the wrong person, Jack for help. It cost him greatly. He ran to what he thought would be temporary safety, ran into a bar and met Spike. Now Spike, is basically a good guy, but he has a bit of a temper and definitely a death wish because he keeps challenging the MC Alpha who always hands him his butt. Spike feels compelled to protect Gray, but Jack won't give up. Nice story about friendship, enemies, foolish ambition and loyalty. Gray and Spile learn a few lessons during their courtship. Nice story. We get to see a few old friends. Gray, is easy to like. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Spike is a grizzly shifter with a troubled past. He lost his best friend when he was younger and felt responsible. On his way back from his friends grave he encounters Gray a wolf shifter. Gray is running from Jack an alpha wolf who has evil intentions. Spike helps Gray get away with the help of brother club member Nitro. There is already bad blood between Spike and Jack. This adventure involves dragon shifters, raven shifters wolf shifters and of course bear shifters. Love this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I'm glad Spike his mate in Gray. However they have to deal with a predator with an unfair advantage. I liked how they and the Moon Burrow Bears dealt with this challenge. Spike and Gray are very good for each other.
