What They Don’t Teach In School?: Ten Important Lessons for Parents Raising the Gen Z & Gen Alpha Kids

Rate this book
In the last three years, after counseling several young students, their parents, and professionals at different levels of their careers, I have tried to put together the ten most important lessons, especially for young parents with Gen Z and Gen Alpha kids. This target audience will invariably be those in their early and mid-professional careers.

What I have realized is that the traditional education systems, though they provide the basic framework for academic excellence for young students, that alone may be the only factor to ensure the future success of professionals in the years to come.

As families become hyper-nuclear and often find themselves in non-native geographies the role of parents becomes very important in shaping the future of this new generation of kids.Parents' roles were always important, but about 30 to 40 years ago, the families were relatively in more native environments and many times in joint family arrangements.

The book has been divided into Ten Chapters, each trying to deep dive into the concepts that are powerful and age-agnostic and can help shape future generations better. The chapters are namely;

Power of Mind Programming Daily
Cultivating a Triad of Wellness
Power of Daily Journaling
Learn About Money
Introducing 21st Century Skills at Home

These first five chapters are focused on habit-building and skill-development activities, which parents can drive from an early age at home.

The next Four chapters are trying to understand the dynamics of the world through different lenses.

The Global Trends and Their Impact
Ten billion Aspirations
More Contracts, Gigs and less Jobs
An Aging World Its Impact

The last chapter tries to address the methodology of choosing the right career path, based on the learnings of the previous chapters.

Choosing a Career Path

Hope the readers whether a young parent or a professional will find the insights very useful and adapt some of them in their day to day life.
