The Wellingtons #2

Conflagration

Rate this book
It isn't just a few flames; it's an especially large and destructive fire that causes devastation.

Branson Wellington? The name, my name, is usually followed by fucking prick or self-serving bastard, and I can't say I haven't earned those titles. It's true. I'm not the good guy. I'm not the boy next door. I'm definitely not your Prince fucking Charming. Not even close.

And I never wanted to be. Until her. The day I pulled her from the wreckage was the day that my life changed.

Who would have thought that one little lie had the power to throw two lives so off course?

Love has never been in the cards for me, but now that she’s here, I have no idea how I’m ever going to let her go. Even if I don’t deserve her.

Because like I said, I’m a self-serving bastard and some things never change.

To take a character who happens to be an asshole (and not the good kind of asshole) and make him my new favorite Wellington is not an easy feat. I’m not sure how Tessa did it, but she did. Branson Wellington, the guy I’ve dreaded reading about because I hated him in some of the other books has won my heart. Seeing his growth and getting his side of the story changed everything.

Branson and Ariana’s first meeting started with a note.

 photo 396fd939-d553-4919-89e0-ace42dfab689_zpsf7287afa.jpg

Branson Wellington’s life is starting to change. And that note was the catalyst for some of those changes. Branson’s life was his job. Working his way to becoming the next CEO is his major life goal. But now he has other things that are important to him. His family is one. He’s trying to make amends for the bad things he’s done in his life.

Ariana’s life hasn’t been going as planned either. She has to get away from it all, so thats exactly what she does. Only she ends up in a bad car accident, only surviving because of a savior helping her out of her vehicle.
“Oh my god. You saved me.” she murmurs, and I watch as blood trickles down her forehead.
“I’m no savior baby. I usually destroy everything around me.”

When Branson’s family shows up, things get complicated. Though Ari and Branson don’t really know each other, they find them selves in this ‘temporary/fake’ engagement of sorts. Ari finds herself staying with Branson, helping him get better. He had some injuries from the accident. The more time Ari and Branson spend together, it becomes more apparent that their fake relationship is giving them both some real feelings for one another.

 photo 168b6640-3465-4727-a8a8-058157856d53_zpsa30dd224.jpg

I loved watching Ari and Branson’s relationship grow and develop. They were great together. After all the bad Branson’s been dealt, he deserves someone good like Ariana. She is different from his ex in the best way.
God, I love when she tests me. She’s such a fucking paradox. I love her sweet and compliant. I love when she’s bossy and insolent. It’s so contradictory and more than anything I’ve ever wanted in a woman. I can’t get enough.

Their engagement starts out fake and temporary, but it’s apparent that after spending more time together and getting closer physically and emotionally, their idea of temporary is becoming more and more permanent.

Branson and Ariana find a second chance at love with one another. I love second chance love stories. I love characters that are able to completely redeem themselves. That was this story in a nutshell. And it was HOT. Branson and Ari have some crazy hot chemistry. Tessa really out did herself when it came to the steam factor in this one… off the charts hot!

Ariana was a great heroine. She was strong, she knows what she wants out of her life and in a relationship and she won’t settle for anything less. And my Branson (yes, I said MY Branson). I still can’t get over how much I love this boy! He’d been broken for so long, I loved watching him become whole again. After making a lot of changes on his own, Ari was that last missing piece he needed.

 photo 022c30ca-00bf-420b-b638-fec0e22f0d65_zpsad235e2f.jpg

Sexy, sweet, funny and emotional. Conflagration had it all! Watching this couple develop real feelings, real emotions and real love was beautiful. There were even a few parts that had me in tears and times that I laughed out loud- ‘Cockblocking Wellingtons ;)’. The couple didn’t have a completely easy journey, but there was also no major over the top drama.

If you haven’t read any of Tessa Teevan’s books, you are really missing out. These are the best feel good reads. I completely adore this series. It was fantastic getting more of our favorite characters and I can’t wait for Xavier’s book next! <3

And this quote here- it describes how I feel about Branson perfectly-
“You’re nothing like I expected, you know. You’re so much more.”

Well well, Tessa Teevan delivers yet another amazing book. I guess that is why she is one of my go to authors. I’ve said it before but it is worth repeating. She ROCKS! I was so excited to be given a chance to get my hands on Branson’s story, anxious to see where she was going to take this guy, and she didn’t disappoint.

 photo collage2_zps95acf486.jpg

If I remember correctly the first time we meet Branson was in Incinerate, Knox’s story. Branson was a complete asshole. His relationship with Knox had been ruined years back and all that was left between them was anger and animosity. Honestly, I didn’t like Branson AT ALL. Then when we get Kale’s story in Inflame we see a bit of a different Branson. Not a changed man by any means but we saw another side of him. When I realized we would be getting his story in the Wellington’s series I wondered which Branson we would be getting. Well he was simply delightful❤yummy❤Sexy❤ Sexy❤ Sexy❤!

photo bransonname_zps83a30c20.jpg For 12 years Branson life has been hollow. Everything in his life was precise. Everything and everyone served a certain purpose. He became detached from his family and things that should have mattered. That was until he met her.

“You’re determined. Sexy. And you take want you want…..although I didn’t want to be someone’s yes girl, I find myself wanting to give in to your every demand.” ~ Arianna

photo Ariannaname_zps5a979719.jpg Her life has just been turned upside down for her. A quick departure from her current life has her looking for a new beginning. She needs to be living her life for herself. No more living to please her parents or anyone else. What she didn’t count on was her path crossing again with him. Her memories from one shared night from her past were all she had. But things are about to change.

 photo arianna1_zps55df37c6.jpg
“She’s a breath of fresh air in the wasteland that’s been my latest existence…. Her laugh brings me light, her concern gives me warmth, and she makes me feel like I’m a better man, a different man.” ~ Branson

Branson’s life is cluttered with a lot of insignificant things. Poor choices, family tension and failed attempts at love have left his life void of happiness and full of desolation. But one night, fate challenges him. He makes a choice to save a woman. She is the woman who without knowing gave him a sliver of hope one night.

When Arianna is trapped in a car after an accident Branson is her savior. She is drawn to him in ways that she understands and ways that she doesn’t. When Arianna and Branson shared one night about a year ago, the man he was then was haunted and distressed. But now there is something different about him. There is a sense of resignation, of yielding.

In the midst of dealing with the aftermath of the accident both Arianna and Branson are in the hospital. And when Arianna finds herself in a moment of desperation she blurts something out in order to be able to be with Branson. It wasn’t just a simple slip of the tongue though. Arianna assumed the role of Branson’s fiancé.

With all good intentions in place Arianna and Branson begin with a guise that was supposed to be temporary. But meeting Branson’s family, sharing a home and both of them healing the other left them both wanting for more.

Reaching for that happiness wasn’t going to be easy. Branson will be tested again and Arianna will be forced to take another look deep inside her and decide what she wants her life to be. With past fears and doubts hovering will these two come out the other side unscathed?

Gosh, the chemistry between these two was unfreakinbelievable. What I loved was Tessa didn’t wait a second getting them together which fit their story perfectly. They were sexy as all hell. They were sensual. A bit carnal and Branson even growls. Yup…loved that. ❤

Did I already mention that I love how Tessa not only gives us the story centering around the two MC but she always pulls in the others. I absolutely loved getting more of Knox and Charlie. As much as I loved Branson, Knox is still my favorite. We get a bit of Cohen and Andi too. I also appreciated that Tessa gave us more background on things that went on with Branson, Knox and his mom and dad. It just rounded out everything perfectly.

We even get to meet another Wellington. I wonder if Shane will get his own book. I’d love to see that. There is a story behind that guy.

And finally….did you think I was ever going to shut up. lol

Here are my favorites from Tessa’s playlist for Conflagration.

~ Heartache That Don’t Stop Hurting ~ Jason Aldean
~ But I Can’t Let You Go ~ Meredith Edwards
~ Stay ~ Shaun Reynolds
~ Let Her Go ~ Tyler Ward
~ I’m A Mess ~ Ed Sheeran

~ Sugar ~ Maroon 5

5 Permanently Yours Stars

I met Branson Wellington in Combust and honestly I thought he was a pretty big tool. I mean he stole his brother’s girlfriend and married her, and then he turned into a self-centered drunk. So yeah, needless to say I wasn’t a Branson fan. I am however a Tessa Teevan fan, so I was on board for the crazy that Conflagration would bring.

The story begins with us meeting Ariana Covington. She is engaged to be married when she overhears a conversation with her fiancé, and decides this isn’t the life she wants. She is more then a trophy wife, she wants to be loved, to be someone’s equal. She decides to runaway, with no plan she drives from Atlanta to Tennessee. Her road trip is halted when she is involved in a horrible car accident in Nashville, TN. Trapped in the car she is preparing for this to be the end, until a man comes to rescue her, a man she knows.

Branson doesn’t usually do the right thing, but he is trying to be a better man and he can’t just leave a women in a car to burn to death. Once he determines he is going to save the girl, he puts everything into saving her. When he makes eye contact it is like he knows her, but can’t remember where or how he would.

As it turns out the two of them met months ago in Atlanta, and during that one night they changed each other’s lives…gave each other hope.

If you don’t want anyone else to give up on you, you can’t give up on yourself…

Branson is able to rescue Ari, but as a result both are injured when the car blows up. Ari wakes up at the hospital and is anxious to see how Branson is, but they will only release information to family, looking down at her engagement ring Ari gets the idea to say she is engaged. Her plan is just to make sure he is okay and then leave. Things blow up when his entire family comes and catches her in the act of pretending to be his fiancé.

So, why would these two continue this charade? Well, for starts Ari is on the run and now that she doesn’t have a vehicle she has nowhere to go. She also remembers Branson from the one night they met and wants to help him, hell she owes him after he saved her life. Despite Branson coming off as a complete tool, he cares about what his family thinks, and wants to make them proud of him.

They decide to enter into their fake engagement/relationship, but of course things get messy when they are forced to live together to help Branson rehabilitate. Once Branson and Ari begin living together things get pretty heated. They have a lot of chemistry and it isn’t long until they are sleeping together, and developing real feelings.

I absolutely loved these two together. They are paired up perfectly. Ari is the exact opposite of Branson’s ex Megan, she is carefree, loving, protective and Branson is the opposite of Ari’s ex and wants her to be his equal. Even while these two had a pretend relationship, we didn’t get any insta-love. The couple’s feelings developed over time and it made complete sense figuring the amount of time they spent together. Branson made a total transformation in my mind, and I seriously love him! He is dominating, but also loving, funny, and protective.

As always I have to report back on the steam factor and it was super hot. I love me a dirty talker, and Branson didn’t disappoint. Conflagration just goes to show the Wellington brothers get better with age.

“This is crazy. This is real. This is love. This is my new life. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

#Conflag

Who is Branson Wellington? Well if you asked me that question right after I read Incinerate, I would have told you that he is the older brother of Knox aka Rugged. And then I would mention that he slept with Knox’s girlfriend, Megan and then married her. So total dickhead? Right? But then if you were to ask me that question after I read Inflame and Combust, then my answer would totally be different. I would tell you… "OMG Branson is totally breaking my heart.. Sigh!! Aww..Poor guy!” Slowly, Tessa Teevan chipped away any hatred and dislike for Branson Wellington. The once hated character soon became the man misunderstood seeking redemption. And so what does Tessa Teevan do, she does something fucking remarkable. She surprises you and delivers an emotional, sexy, touching, and raw story of love, second chances, and redemption in Conflagration.

#Conflag1

Branson Wellington is definitely not your prince charming and white knight. He is raw, unfiltered, and pure alpha male. He does what he wants and makes no excuses. You want to hate him but at the same time you are drawn to his personality. So who is the real Branson Wellington? Behind the asshole facade, lies a man seeking love, forgiveness, and redemption. And in Conflagration, Branson finally got to get his story heard. Say goodbye to the preconceived notions that a man can’t change because Branson Wellington transformed from one of the most hated characters to one of the most beloved hero. He was the dark horse who proved that anyone can reach rock bottom but it takes a resilient man to climb out and be on top. And Branson Wellington did just that. He showed us that second chances are a gift and that fate and destiny were intertwined and leading him to the light when he met Ariana Convington. Will she be his permanent love?

#Conflag2

Ariana Convington is what you called the runaway bride. Well, technically she called off the wedding the day before, but the groom and her parents didn’t seem to get that message that she doesn’t want to marry a man that she doesn’t love and also because of family obligation. While on the road, Ari was running away from her life in Atlanta but what she did not expect was that she was heading into the arms of her savior, Branson when an accident occurs. Call it fate, destiny, or what not, it seems the heavens were finally blessing Branson with rays of hope. The man who once lived in the dark and in the shadows, soon begins to find hope, love, and light in Ariana. Can this broken man be saved? Can he be redeemed? Can Branson Wellington seize this moment of second chances? Or will he be too stubborn to accept love?

#Conflag3

Let me just tell you, Tessa Teevan titled this book perfectly. This book was SCORCHING HOT!!!! It had it all from off the charts STEAMY SEX SCENES to touching and emotional family moments. Conflagration truly showcased the meaning of second chances. We are all given one of the greatest gift in life of second chances and Branson and Ari seized that moment and didn’t let it go to waste. Mistakes were made. The past could not be undone. But redemption can be earned and found. Love can heal. And together Branson and Ari completed each other. It was a love like no other. It was permanent.

#Conflag_4

Branson and Ari were one smoking hot couple. Literally, they heated up my kindle. If you thought Knox and Cohen were the only the Wellington brothers on the radar of book boyfriends, then you are sadly mistaken because Branson Wellington is book boyfriend and book husband material. Tessa Teevan did an amazing job transforming Branson. In previous books, we got a taste of what lies behind the eyes of Branson. Simply, he was a lost man trying to find himself. A man searching for redemption, forgiveness, love and happiness. The once blurred and dark life of Branson Wellington begins a new journey where the past and present are no longer blurred but begins anew. The journey of redemption, second chances and love may not be perfect but Branson Wellington did the unimaginable. He showed us he could changed and all it took was a special lady to see that. His light. His savior. Ariana Convington.

Ari and Branson’s relationship is a kind of love that has no words. A love that cannot be explained but felt. A love that is raw, passionate, and yet vulnerable. A love that is REAL. Ari and Branson were like two lost ships fated to meet again. Two people finding their way back home. And most importantly, two people discovering in the power of love.

Conflag_1Tessa

All I can say is go read Congflagration. Find out the truth. Read Branson’s story. We all know the saying don’t judge a book by it’s cover, so give Branson a chance. He deserves his side to be told. And most importantly, his chance to find love and happiness. I can happily say, Branson Wellington captured and stole my heart. So if you are looking for a panty melting, dirty, raw, emotional and sizzling book...look no further and go read Conflagration.

'Because even thought I say I don't do permanent, every day spent with Ariana is one day that I get further away from our temporary agreement. As much as I feel I don't deserve this, I'm slowly beginning to realize that I just might be wrong.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Oh my, Branson!! This was so good. I loved Branson so much!! And I was totally not expecting that.

I have no idea how it happened, but the one Wellington character that I totally disliked, ended up being one of my favourite male characters of this series. If you have read Knox's book, then you know who Branson Wellington is. He was one of the biggest jerks, or so he seemed. I loved getting to know more of his story and finding out what actually happened in the past. The story between Branson and Ariana starts quite awhile before this book begins. They met one time when Branson got drunk. They ended up talking to each other until really late. When Branson woke up, Ariana was gone with only a note left for him to know it was real.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

'In such a short time, she's become my confidante. My companion. My closest friend--probably the only friend I have. And I can't imagine her being out of my life. I don't want to.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Since that moment, Branson began to change. And now fate has brought them back together again for a second chance. And as more time goes by he realizes that becoming the CEO of his family's company isn't his only dream, he may also want Ariana in his life as well. Ariana comes from a family where appearances are everything. For the longest time she has done everything to please them. She finds herself engaged to man who she doesn't love and finds he feels the same way. She is tired of doing what others want her to. She wants to live her life the way she wants to. She breaks off the engagement and leaves Atlanta only to end up in a car accident where Branson saves her.

Somehow, Ariana and Branson end up in a fake "engagement". And when his family shows up, they keep up the charade but they both agree it will only be temporary. Once Branson heals, Ariana can leave and stop pretending to be Branson's fiancé . But the more time they spend together, the more they fall for one another. It was awesome watching them both become carefree in each other's presence. Ariana was such a great heroine. She wasn't annoying at all. She was quite strong and I loved that she wasn't afraid to say what she wanted. Together, these two had crazy chemistry. There was some HAWT sexy scenes that made me pant and swoon for Branson.

She's what makes me whole.
As cliché as it sounds, Ariana Covington completes me.'

I really enjoyed the book. I like watching Branson evolve into a better version of himself. There was definitely more to him than his douche exterior portrayed. Branson could be so freaking sweet that he made my heart melt. He was hot, possessive alpha and I loved him! I loved that we got the whole Wellington clan in this book. I love that family. I also like getting glimpses of how everyone was doing. There was a bit of angst near the end that broke my heart. But the ending was absolutely wonderful. I was smiling so big at the end of this. Overall, it was a really great read and one that you should definitely check out. I am really excited to read Shane and Alyssa's story next.

Well this is my sixth Tessa Teevan book and I can safely say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one!! I never doubt that the story is going to be a good one and that the sexy times are going to have me in need of several cold showers.

This is Branson Wellington's story, and when I first met him in Knox's book, I thought he was a total asshole! I didn't really have a desire to learn more about this man. I mean, he stole his younger brother's girlfriend!!! That's going against the ultimate BRO CODE!!! But in Kale's book, Tessa succeeded in showing us that there was a sweetness to Branson, and that maybe this man could find redemption.

Redemption comes to Branson in the form of a beautiful brunette that gets involved in a serious accident, and is trapped inside a burning car. He risks his life to rescue Ariana Covington from certain death. While both are recovering from their injuries in the hospital, circumstances will have them pretending to be engaged.

Ariana was running away from her life back home in Atlanta. She has a lot of free time on her hands and she is attracted to Branson, so she agrees to be his "temporary fiance".

 photo aabd87014070219d73591d09ee0f6ce3_zpse7b1267a.jpg

The chemistry between these two is super STEAMY!! We didn't have to wait long to get to the sexy times and, OH MY, did these two get it on!!!! I tried to read this at work, BAD IDEA!!! I just ended up getting myself a little flustered!! I definitely was wishing that I was Ariana.

 photo tumblr_mqcy46kSvr1sv2uawo1_500_zpsd9883f33.gif

Most of the story was surrounded around these two trying to convince themselves that their situation was just temporary and that it could never be anything more. But it is obvious that they're perfect for each other. There was angst but it was, in my opinion, very minimal. I guess Branson had twelve years of misery so Tessa didn't want to torture him anymore than was necessary.

I am completely and irrevocably in love with her. Heart-crushing, all-consuming, can't-live-without-her in love. All this time, I've thought I owned her when the opposite is true. She owns me. And she always will.

The epilogue was amazing and I loved getting more of Knox, Charlie, Cohen, and Andi!! I really do think Tessa has hit another one out of the park!! SUPERB!

4,5 Permanent Stars!!

description

Branson made some wrong choices in his life. He’s not making excuses for it and he knows he has to live with them, but he’s trying to change and giving his life a new direction. He isn’t the hero on a fairytale but one night he is a hero nevertheless, when he saves Ariana’s life. And that’s how his life really starts to change.
Branson has a goal and she is the perfect girl to help him. Ariana’s just saved herself from an empty and fake future and she’s looking for something real. Their lives tangled together in something that it’s supposed to be fake and temporary.
But when real feelings, secrets from the past and old family feuds come to surface, they realize that sometimes you need something fake to see what’s real and in front of you.

Rating: 4,5 Stars.
Storyline: This was a surprisingly amazing love story. Two broken souls who found their way to each other through love and redemption. (Well, and some pretending). If you’re in need of a heartwarming, emotional and steamy love story, look no more: this is it. There was some predictability and some annoying choices, but other than that, definitely a great book.
Character Development: I can honestly say I hated Branson on the previous books. Really hated him! So was you can imagine how reluctant I was when I started reading this book… but now all I can say is that I’m amazed that I got to see his side of the story. He redeemed and grew so much in this book that it’s impossible not to love him. Ari was also great, I loved how sweet and strong she was.
Steam: Hot.

5 Branson's Baby Stars!!!

I feel like I have been waiting for Branson Wellington all my life…sophisticated, driven, sexy, arrogant…Total Ass! His actions of past have not made him very likeable. But what if it was all misconception? Is he misunderstood? Is there more to the single minded corporate shark? PERHAPS…

I was unprepared for the path Tess Teevan took to find the true man Branson Wellington was. With the previous books I knew Knox – rugged sexy alpha and consummate protector and Cohen – smart sexy sweet determined man. The man Branson appears to be…the vibes he puts off…completely NOT the man he truly is.

BOOM! CONFLAGRATION is a destructive burning, but here it just happens to bring a brief reunion with a beautiful woman of the past. What follows is an “awakening” to a new life!

Ariana Covington just happens to be the key player in that new life. She may have left behind a predetermined future, but in an instant it seems as if fate has decided what path she should travel as ONE SINGLE LIE changes everything.

Strangers? Two ships passing at a time of need? Branson and Ariana have a comfortable connection…easy to assume more than the truth. They each feel something for one another making it easy to “play” relationship. But what if they aren’t “playing?”

Real intimacy, real emotions, and real need arises out of two strangers. For once Branson “wants” something outside of the boardroom and Ariana…well she gives him “everything” he needs…whether comfort, drop it like its hot sex, or *gasp* love! Branson Wellington is losing his tough armor. Maybe it wasn’t even really there! Ariana has no problem seeing the “real man” behind the reputation.

If you are expecting a cat and mouse game of sorts, DON’T! Branson and Ari are full throttle from recognition. There is no game playing. The intimacy is up front and fierce with NO delay. True Conflagration at the highest. What they have is fast, furious and all consuming. Tessa Teevan developed a love story where the angst comes from the world outside their blaze. Branson has to trust…Ariana has to stand on her own. They have no problems in the bubble they make together…but can they just survive the outside? Can they leave the past behind? More importantly can they accept the future…is it what they want?

*Many thanks to the lovely Tessa Teevan for gift of ARC for this work*

4.5 Redemption and Then Some Stars * * * * 1/2

Tessa Teevan is in the groove... she is having a streak of books which are delivering full blast, one right after the other. It is exciting to see an author find her feet and take off like this.

In Conflagration, she does the unthinkable; she takes Knox' despicable brother and redeems him; she shows why he has been wired the way he has... she explains his pain, his actions and sets the road for him to make things different when given the chance...

And what a chance she presents...

Ariana is a woman who's core is good... and she is lost...she has been tied into a loveless relationship commandeered by business needs of parents and all other parties but her. She went through an epiphany in realizing what this possible marriage was going to be. But until she was slapped with the realities by hearing with her own ears the manipulations of her fiance and others...she hadn't acted. Confronted by this overheard conversation, she takes off... and pulls a "Runaway Bride"..

As she is finally able to breathe, fate has decided to bring her back with the catalyst of her earlier epiphany, Branson. She met him while he was on a bender in Combust...and between the two of them...they both were the turning points in both of their lives without each other ever learning their names.

Ariana is driving to a new life, away... away from people who planned her life, being a pawn... away from not knowing who she was... she is driving to find a life for her. She is hit by a mack truck crossing over to her lane. As she is stuck in her car by a malfunctioning seat belt, a vision of a person doing everything he can to release her comes to her eyes... there banging and finally breaking the glass is Branson.

Branson happens to be on the road, sees the accident and rushes to help... stunned to see it is Ariana strapped and unable to get out... he just goes into rescue mode... he see her and recognizes it is the angel who turned his life onto the better path... he is driven to save her... he must...

Somehow he does...pulling her away from the wreckage, he covers her protecting from the massive explosion. Ariana wakes in the hospital; once she is aware of her surroundings, her main focus is to find out if Branson is alive and alright. It is the only thing that matters... Her nurse shares he is beat up but alive. Stressing she must see him, she finally is pushed to lie. With a ring from the man she dumped still on her finger... she uses it as a way to see Branson... as his fiance.

The ring becomes the magic "open sesame" with everything from there...the hospital, the doctors, the family and even with Branson himself...She knows this is not going to continue once Branson awakens...but it doesn't matter... the pull and feelings she has for him push her to stay and watch over him until he comes to from the coma.

Once he comes to... Ariana is sure she will be leaving and probably from an ugly encounter of being called out by Branson... but things are not always as they seem...

This tale is woven with budding trust between to people who have deep rooted needs... She has insecurities, missed out from family love and needs to believe in herself. He has been slowly discovering he deserves to be loved and cared for... to be trusted and thought as a man worthy.
We go on this journey with them and what a ride it is... not perfect... with hurdles and bumps... but with great reward.

This read so fast, had all the delicious sexy times, quotes and flow we have come to know from Teevan. The development of the relationship was so strong and not rushed... making when things happened between them better. We received insight in real time by knowing how each felt causing us to be invested quickly.

I loved the way Tessa Teevan was upfront about nods to plot points in this book... using actual movie references as a tip of her hat...doing things like shows how confident she is in her writing and crafting. She took a man who was incredibly unlikeable, made us see why, made us root for him. She even had him show his "knee jerk go to actions"...and gave us tools to accept him fully. Masterful.

So why not 5 for me if I liked it so much...because I may not have been as big a person as Ariana...but that is my character flaw..

As I mentioned, Teevan is on a roll..and I am going to stay in that groove with her...bring on more...

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2.5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I partially liked it. Mostly I didn't.

I did enjoy Tessa Teevan's books in the past, but she is a hit or miss for me.
I remember loving the previous story in this series : COMBUST

Unfortunately, with Conflagration, it felt as I was reading a combination of all her previous books. Another couple, same recipe, and though I DO enjoy chocolate, I won't eat it 3 times a day, I need some diversity. —Wrong analogy. Chocolate I can consume to no end.
But you get what I mean. Here it felt like I was served last meal left overs.

I was looking forward to read about Branson, the Wellington outcast. The bad seed of the family. He was first introduced to us in Knox's book, and I had very little consideration for his character... But in Combust, we learned a little more about him, were showed some redeeming qualities, and I was intrigued by him.

Conflagration begins with a BOOM.

I must say, I liked the premise. Ariana and Branson's lives collide in a car accident, Branson saving Ariana from the flames. What I did not enjoy was all the flashbacks. I understand why the author felt it was necessary, but as a reader who read the previous books in the series, I didn't want to read about Branson's family and life situation all over again. Or maybe I would have appreciated another form of introduction. To me it felt repetitive and annoying.

We get a little background on Ari—Ariana— too, she hastily broke off her engagement with a man she doesn't love, no longer wanting to be a trophy wife. She wanted to "find herself"... (sigh.)

They both end up at the hospital more than a little banged up, Branson taking the blow of the car's explosion to protect Ariana.
Waking up in the hospital, Ariana wants to see the man who saved her life, having the feeling she might have dreamed him only.
The nurse denies her the request, stating it goes against hospital policies to let a stranger in a patient room.
Arianna only thinks of one thing to do. She says the man is her fiancé. Access granted.

See, I'm all for this kind of of plot, it invites recreation, promises entertainment and quirky situation.
Right?

Anyway, after the shock of waking up with a fiancée, Branson is quickly on board with the idea, part of it because his family—present at the hospital—is wondering where this unexpected fiancé comes from, also because his personal situation regarding his place in his family is still a little messy, he doesn't quite know where to stand in regard to his father's company too.
Ariana, well, she "inexplicably" feels attracted to Branson.

And maybe... Yes maybe it helps that the woman in front of him doesn't leave him indifferent, the same one he had a one night stand with a couple months back and he's not against the idea to delve a little more into his attraction to Ari.

Except that from this moment on...
Well the terms of their "arrangement" were preposterous. With Branson's motives to keep their fake engagement being more dictated by his second head more than his brain, Ari leaving a man back home, getting out of an engagement, I really didn't understand her decision to agree to this charade. Getting out of a forced relationship to immediately getting back into another, albeit a fake one? Yeah I had a hard time with that.

Not only Ari already struck me as a naive and irrational, but Branson had to top her by suggesting the following after unprotected sex:
“It was one time, baby. Tomorrow we'll go out and get an economy-sized box of condoms, and we'll be good.”

Sure. I found him to be extremely cavalier for a guy who agreed to a "temporary engagement". I thought it was outright outrageous to suggest it'll all be fine when he has no plans to take care of Ari later.
But just after that, I'm being proved that Ari is still the stupidest, she says:
“I let his words sink in, and I know he's right. This isn't the first time I've had sex with no protection, and I'm still sans child. Taking a deep breath, I relax and smile up at him.”

What the what? At this point, I was relatively mad at both of them, or more accurately, exasperated. I was annoyed with the author for setting up what I think is the lamest turn in a romance novel : the (NOT SO)unexpected pregnancy.

Annoyed to the extreme with both character's juvenile attitude, I continued to read, hoping it would pick up for me. Alas, I couldn't get let go of thinking about the child they just conceived. Would it create drama? Would it just be part of a happy ending surprise?

Nothing really interesting or new happens then. I should say nothing out of the ordinary. They play house, and all is great. Hints of reality check poke in, but they both dismiss any discussion toward it.

They fell in love, but both dismiss the idea, after all, all of this is fake, and they agreed to "temporary".

At least drama ensues, the inevitable exes plotting against our couple, Branson follow his very ordinary role and prefers to believe his psycho ex Megan, and the man Ariana left. Even though his ex is well known to be a manipulative bitch.

He does a great job to let Ari knows he doesn't want her anymore. Spewing vile and cold words. Angst is served.
Arianna leaves. She needs to... find herself. AGAIN.

Branson learns from his cousin Shane that Ariana is not guilty of what Megan made him believe she was.
(Aaaaargh, he could have just listen to her and dismiss the crazy ex, but noooooo.)
Yes, Branson, you dumbass.

the best way to grovel is to phone stalk your fake fiancée. At regular intervals. So then when you finally get shut eye from the exhaustion you let yourself into, she freaks out. (Yes, the drama should have ended, but it was going on and on and...)

Branson finds Ariana, they talk (finally) they love each other. Hurray! The end?

No!
Branson does the unthinkable, he leaves her, with the ludicrous idea that he have to resign from his father's company, when all his past struggle is LINKED to him wanting the job. Seriously where is that coming from?

I am done with having fun and with the "twists"! I want to know what happens with baby I'm sure she is carrying! Just tell me she is pregnant and I'll quit. I swear.

But first thing first. They want a REAL engagement now. They want to marry.

And then the most expected event FINALLY happens!!! :

APPLAUSE.

So all in all, despite the premise, this lacked of originality, execution was sloppy and plot was too predictable. An okay read I would have been okay not reading.
So please :

from the little teaser of this book that we got in Cohen&Andi's book, i knew this would be good. and boy oh boy, i was not disappointed. i can honestly say that this is one of the very few books i've read this year, a sequel that was better than its predecessor. this story was exactly what it should have been. yes, there was the inevitable stupid decision, but i can overlook that with everything else going on. i love a story of an underdog, and here, they both were the lone wolf, the underdog. it doesn't get much better than that! i'm in loooooooooovvvee! <3

Ariana Covington was well on her way to making the worst mistake of her life when she decided to flee. One car crash and a few lies later, however, and she finds herself living with Branson, a man that she had only met once before. And Branson Wellington? Well, let’s just say he’s not an easy man to get along with. He’s stubborn, combative, and at times self-destructive.

Will the two be able to fool those around them, or will everything eventually blow up in their faces? And just how long can they keep up the lie before they start to believe in it themselves?

I absolutely adored Ariana. She had such a sweet heart and the way that she would defend Branson was GREAT! This girl was able to hold her own and she quickly became one of my favorite female leads.

Branson is, without a doubt, my favorite. After we were first introduced to him in Incinerate I just knew that I had to have his story. I felt that he was misunderstood and couldn’t understand why everyone hated him so. I had high hopes for his character, and I’m pleased to announce that Tessa managed to far exceed every expectation that I had. He’s such a complex character and I was happy to watch to Ariana slowly break through his rough exterior.

I devoured Conflagration in one sitting. This was a 5 star read for me and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new book to dive into. I couldn’t put it down and I was quite sad to see it end. However, Branson and Ariana will be getting a continuation in the near future and that made me one happy girl. More from my favorite couple? Yes, please!!

Branson & Arianna ♥ ♥

description

Branson .. there was a point when I extremely disliked this character. Then I got reading and had a chance to see his side of things. It definitely changed my perception on him and he is added to my long list of book boyfriends. He's a hero, who risked his life to save Arianna. Throw in a fake engagement, Branson's meddling parents, and moving into together = an incredible story line. They chemistry was inevitable and they were bound to take out the in their engagement announcement. Branson deserves happiness not another trophy wife which is why Arianna is the perfect girl for him.

Without a doubt one of my favorite series along with the Explosive also by Tessa Teevan. I would suggest first reading the Explosive novels and then reading The Wellingtons to fully understand the background of the characters intertwining within the books. I loved Branson & Arianna's story and would recommend. I CANNOT wait for the next one and hoping it's Shane's story? My only regret? ... is not reading sooner!

I’ve been waiting for Branson’s book since I met the asshole in Incinerate, Knox’s book. There was just something about him that made me desperate for his story because I knew there was more to him than the dick he personified himself as. What he did to his brother and his family were desperate acts from a desperate man who never felt as important as he thought he should be…never felt as taken care of as he wanted to be. He didn’t necessarily need to redeem himself; it was beyond that idea – he needed to save himself, and he had to be the one to do it – no other person held that power for him, except for maybe a mystery woman who he thought he dreamed up during a drunken stupor.

If you don’t want anyone else to give up on you,

You can’t give up on yourself.

No truer words have ever been written when it comes to summing up what Branson’s life had turned out like; shame is a feeling that can swallow someone whole and that’s exactly what it threatened to do to Branson until he was left with that note and decided to bring himself back to the land of the living. Now what he did with that life would determine his hero/anti hero status for himself, his family, and his readers.

There’s more than one side to a story and Branson’s side needed to be told, and Tessa Teevan enlightens readers by showing us the inner turmoil and constant feelings of inadequacy that plagued him when everything first went spiraling downward. For 12 years his life has been hell, a constant struggle to feel worthy of anything because poor choices have dominated his life and sent him away from his family and any semblance of happiness. He’s a strong willed man who used that stubbornness and tenacity to alienate himself and now he needed to find a way to bring himself back into the fold of a family who was desperate to have him back despite his misgivings and what better way to do so than with a heroic act and a temporary fiancée.

It’s important that when someone saves someone else that, that person has the opportunity to do the same thing, and Branson does in a big way for Ariana who just happens to be his mystery woman and the angel who helped pick him up with only a sentence. He saves her life, and he helps her break free from her parents and an ex who see her as nothing more than a trophy to show off. With little effort, Branson gives Ari a way to live for herself – the drive to become the strong person she wants to be with a backbone and a voice that no longer cowers under a man, but through it all, he never feels he can offer her anything permanent. What they have can only be temporary because he’s too damaged and he doesn’t feel like he deserves anything other than that – there’s no forever in the cards for him because of the way he’s lived his life. Little does Branson know that she’s his end game; she’s everything his ex wasn’t, and she’s everything her family thinks he deserves – now, he just needs to believe it himself.

I didn’t think anyone could top Knox for me, but his older brother definitely gives him a run for his money. I loved Branson and Ari’s story and how they fight for each other’s happiness. The chemistry between them is off the charts, but their relationship is so much more than that from the very beginning. Ari has seen Branson at his lowest and still reached out to him, which speaks volumes for the type of person that Ari is. I love that Tessa Teevan didn’t torture readers or Branson too much with overly dramatic antics. He’s suffered enough, and it’s about damn time he gets something for himself – something pure, not tainted by bitterness and jealousy, and that’s exactly what he gets in Ari. She’s his windfall…his savior…his forever.

Keep on writing Ms Teevan because I’m a fan for life! You definitely know how to write hot, alpha males and strong, independent women, and you definitely bring the steam! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

When you start a book fulling expecting to dislike it but end up thoroughly enjoying it:

description

mild spoilers

I really thought this was going to be another DNF or at best a two star read. But after we passed those flashback scenes I found myself actually enjoying this!

This is one of those temporary engagement tropes and I thought I had it all figured out but Branson and Ariana pleasantly surprised me! I loved that they weren't pretending this is temporary until the very end. They quickly realized this is the real deal and made it official.

This is actually my first Tessa Teevan novel. I do remember reading the sample of Knox's book a long ass time ago and I kinda remember Branson from it. In a way I'm kinda glad I didn't know much about Branson before starting this because I probably would've never wanted to read his book.

I have to take one star off for that climax though. It kinda ruined Branson for me. I was waiting the whole book for both of their exes to start some drama and when it came I was disappointed. Ariana trusted him 100% and stood up for him earlier but he didn't do the same. A couple lies from his ex wife and he was quick to believe her over Ariana. It was just so out of the blue and out of character. This same man who basically worshipped the ground Ariana walked on is now saying these hurtful and unforgivable things? I was SO disappointed in him.

Besides that ending and the rocky beginning, I loved the middle portion of this book. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get over all Branson has done in the past but he totally won me over with the way he treated Ariana.

After meeting Branson is Knox’s book, I could not wait to get my hands on this deliciously confusing man’s book and thank you lord the wait is over!
Branson was such an a-hole in previous books, yet totally intriguing. I knew there was more to his story and holy hell was it an amazing story. I went from not liking him all that much to shouting DIBS from my rooftop.
Branson really hurt his brother Knox after he slept with Knox’s girl Megan. Branson and Megan got married and after a loveless marriage and her not being able to keep her legs closed, the finally divorced. Branson was an outcast in his family because of his relationship with Megan and deep down Branson wanted nothing more than to get his family back. When he saw what Knox and his new girl Charlie had, Branson got a glimpse of what he really wanted but never thought it was in the cards for him-not until Ariana (Ari).
Ari, the daughter of a well-known and very wealthy Atlanta business man was set to marry one of his colleagues sons. Only problem is she doesn’t truly love Brandon and it took one night months ago talking to a very inebriated drunken Branson for her to realize that and on her wedding day- she runs.
The only thing that Branson has left of a drunken night in Atlanta where he spent the night talking to a beautiful stranger is a note reminding him that he is worth it. It took one night with an angel for him to get his shit together and start bettering himself. He would have dreams of her but not really remembering her he wasn’t even sure if it was really real-except for the note he carries in his wallet.
Call is kismet, call it fate, call it being in right place at the right damn time but Ari and Branson’s paths cross again this time it is Branson who saves her both physically and metaphorically. This starts a journey where a temporary arrangements turns into a forever but can that forever withstand the demons of the past?
Holy hell what a ride this book was! Sorry Tessa Teavan but yup I cursed you out in my head a few times during this book! Branson is so complex it was amazing at how well he was written and how he drew him in. Learning everything that has happened since Megan knocked on his door and how he truly felt was both heartbreaking and infuriating at times but yeah I couldn’t help myself for falling for yet another book boyfriend. DIBS!
Ari was such a sweet girl and fit in perfectly with this cast of characters. Her warmth and her perseverance were amazing to read and yeah I fell in love with her too. The way she accepted Branson and how hard she fought him so that he would win the fight with himself at times were just wow.
This book really pulled at my heartstrings. Made me laugh, cry and possible need a cold shower because the sexy times were so hot.
I really hope we get more this series and of these characters because I really do not want it to end. Conflagration (especially Branson Wellington himself) gets 5 delicious stars!

5 TEMPORARY PERMANENT STARS!!!!!!!

Tessa Teevan, you rocked my world yet again!
You gave me another yummy (although broody and sometimes prickish) Wellington to fall in love with!!

My song for this story: Something Beautiful by NEEDTOBREATHE

my link text

Branson Wellington and Ariana Covington's story will make you laugh, cry and get the damn feels in all the right places. I am SO obsessed with the three brothers (Knox, Cohen and now Branson) and was so tickled pink with how Branson and Ariana's love came to be.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yes, Branson's past will make you cringe and want to knock him in the back of the head like an old Italian Nonna, but he sooooooo redeems himself and I loved that about him. I loved how he didn't allow his past to let him let the love of his life slip through his fingers.

And Ari? OMG, this girl was everything. From her being a runaway bride, to pulling a scene right out of While You Were Sleeping, she was just perfection. And the way she cared for Branson and gave him all of her? Le. Sigh.

Her laugh brings me light, her concern gives me warmth, and she makes me feel like I'm a better man, a different man.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

There is some drama in here (of course, why not?) but you know what? I don't care!! I don't care because the ending of this book just made my heartstrings play a full symphony and the Wellingtons deserve a round of applause!!!

This is crazy.
This is real.
This is love.
This is my new life. And I wouldn't change it for the world.

My review:

I am on a Tessa Teevan hero high! I cannot get enough of them! Branson's book was nothing like I expected and I CANNOT be happier. If you have read any of the other books in this series, you know a lot of Branson. But let me tell you, what you think you know, could not be further from the truth. I loved how Tessa spun this hero around 360 in my eyes. Knowing what I knew of him from previous books made me never interested in a story involving him as the hero, but right from the beginning she was able to address ALL the issues I've ever had with him and show all the scenes from a different POV. I was SO happy with how this book turned out, especially since I started to kind of like him in Cohen's book. I really don't want to give away much of the storyline, because it would be a spoiler, but I will say both Branson and Ari are both people struggling to find happiness and I was happy they were able to find it in each other. Of course, I loved seeing the whole group - especially Charlie and Knox. *sighs* Such heartfelt scenes between Knox and Branson in this book. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very sweet and emotional romance with very little angst. Now I am anxiously waiting on who will be the stars of the next book, but I am on SUCH a Tessa Teevan hero high that I feel like I MUST read the last book that I haven't read from her now LOL. I know I will not be disappointed.

If could I would give this book 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This was so FREAKIN'. GOOD! When I read Incinerate, my impression of Branson was that he was a selfish prick, but that all changed once I read Conflagration he's a hero, humorous, honorable and handsome. The explanation and the reasons for his actions from betraying Knox, to marrying that manipulative bitch Megan and his self destructive behavior gave me a deep understanding of the man he was and who he was soon to be with the love of Ariana. The love between these two was so endearing and epic and the love scenes were off the charts HOT, by far the sexiest of all the series. The bonus was getting to reading more of Knox and Charlie, who are now in competition with Branson and Ariana as being my favorite couple. As for Tessa Teevan, you are awesome!! Now, I wonder if Alyssa and Shane will have a book?
