We love MC Grammar in my class and I’ve been looking forward to reading his Adventures of Rap Kid for a while.
Z only speaks in rhyme. The Royal Rap Rumble is coming to town and Z and SFX, helped by Mr G - English teacher extraordinaire, are going to take on the challenge.
The book is interactive throughout, talking directly to the reader with lots of things to think about and complete along the way. My kids will definitely enjoy reading it and see a lot of similarities with Z and themselves I think.
I think I might be a tad too old for this. I found it hard to get into the book but I have a feeling that my students, its target readers, will love this one and find it fun to do the rapping. It might probably better if I read it out loud and God forbids rap with them as we read. Reading it alone after teaching kind of takes the fun out of it.
I am crazy about MC Grammar on Instagram and excited to get his book for my grandkids. It's a perfect middle school read. There are interactive elements, a glossary of terms, and is funny and warm-hearted. You really can't go wrong with a kids book whose message is "READ, READ and then READ SOME MORE.
