My king brother rules Nyalda through violence and terror.
When he captures Aral, one of the dangerous bone wraiths that haunt the surrounding forest, I fear my worst nightmares are about to come true.
Because if he can harness Aral’s dark magic, my brother’s reign of terror will be unstoppable.
Another monster in the tower.
But Aral won’t give up his power so easily. Instead, he offers to share his magic…
With me.
But bone wraith magic isn’t like human magic.
It’s primal. Violent. Terrifying.
(And very, very pleasurable.)
A queen in the making.
If I submit to Aral, if I let him break me, I might be able to save my kingdom once and for all.
But do I really want to sell my soul to the demon I’ve been taught to fear my entire life?
Or is becoming that demon’s plaything the key to uncovering my hidden strength?
The Bone Wraith’s Queen is a fantasy romance with spice, an HEA, and no cliffhangers. It’s the third book in A Land of Gods and Monsters, a four-book, standalone series set in a dark fantasy world featuring monster heroes, complex heroines, and interconnected worldbuilding.
perfection. “fuck it, it’s short, i’ll give it a go” turned into me reading this book in one sitting. it’s 2:30am as i write this. i got this from a sykd a while back and i am thanking past me so much, what a good book to hit 70 books this year and end 2024 on. 10/10 no notes.
Book 3 of a series but can be read as stand-alone. HEA Romantasy / Dom-Sub Monogamous First Person FMC POV Angst: 😫😫😫 Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 Story: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Eyeroll Rating: 0 (Very well written with a strong FMC and considerate Dom MMC.) First 🌶 at 32%
I received an ARC for this book for my review. I had never read anything from this author, and I found the characters compelling and intriguing. It's a book on the shorter end of the spectrum, so I finished in about two days.
In this far land, another species exists alongside humans: powerful beings called Bone Wraiths. One of them is captured at the beginning of the story and the princess of this kingdoms gets involved trying to do the best for her people and country.
I do recommend checking the trigger warnings, but I loved the spicy scenes as well as the setup. I wished the book was a little bit longer, and we could have gotten more of the magical aspects of the Bone Wraith society.
Highly recommend it. 👌👌👌👌👌

4.5 stars. The book reminds me of the Sex Wizards series by Alethea Faust in that the basic premise of the plot is the MC exchanges sex for magical power, and there’s definitely BDSM components in both, but this book is a bit more dark and there’s an urgency to the plot that keeps you hooked. The FMC’s brother is a tyrant king who tolerates no defiance, and the FMC has been struggling to survive and pushing back against his role in the small ways she feels she can, but the world outside the palace walls is bleak and getting worse. With his reign threatened by dissent, the king seeks out a new source of power that will become his undoing—a bone wraith’s magic helm. But the helm cannot be wielded through force, only submission, and the FMC gets to be the one to discover this naughty secret. Each encounter with the MMC is fraught with danger and illicit acts, but when all is said and done, a new ruler will come to power in the FMC’s kingdom, but not without bloodshed.
★“…for the good of the kingdom.” - A captivating tale to devour★
Upon learning that her brother, King Marek of the House Ovestia, has taken a bone wraith prisoner, Princess Kalipe intervenes in her capacity as the Kingdom’s Consul, ordained by their land’s higher laws, to ensure that the Otonie Treaties are being duly practiced to protest all sentient beings. But upon meeting the prisoner, Aral the Undying, she soon comes to realize what capturing him may mean for the safety of the kingdom, as well as the strange pull to this otherworldly male whose power Marek is intent on stealing for himself: “My brother is already a monster.”
I wasn't sure what to expect from Juniper Clarke as I had never read anything by this author before. I wasn't disappointed, the storyline kept me engaged. Spice and plot line were nicely equal. This story gave me a Hunchback of Notre dame vibes. Who is the monster and who is the man? Aral, a bone wraith captured by King Marek, finds his mate in the king's sister, Kalipe. The story tells of their intrigues as they negotiate a coups. Do check for the trigger warnings. This contains violence of a gore and sexual nature.
The Bone Wraith’s Queen is a fast paced, exciting addition to the Land of Gods and Monsters series and the intense chemistry between our two MCs was absolute fire. I loved the growth our FMC experienced as her rose coloured glasses were ripped away and she comes to realize that she has to be the one change things for the better. And with Aral by her side, Kalipe is strong enough to tackle anything! This is now my favourite read of the series (so far) and I really hope we get more in this fascinating world! I received an ARC of this book and also purchased a copy! So good!
This is the story of a young woman who has to look within herself and find the strength to change things for the better. I found the characters to be engaging, the action to move along at a good pace and I truly enjoyed reading the story. Even though I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series, I had no problem following this one.
A beautiful storyline with the perfect amount of heart pounding steam, showing just how strong we can be when we have the right person behind us in support. Absolutely loved this book!!!
This is a dark fantasy romance seeped in violence, and twisted sexual magic. Bone wraiths are powerful magical creatures who bow to no one, and are one of the few things standing against the king's tyranny. Princess Kalipe is locked in a battle of wills with her power hungry brother the king, and sees no way to escape his abuse, for herself, her sister-in-law or her people, until her brother imprisons a bone-wraith who tempts her with the power to steal the throne. This story was a little dark for me, though I did enjoy the way that Princess Kalipe came to rely on herself over the course of the story, and her growth as a person. I recommend this story for anyone who wants plenty of angst and sex in their fantasy romance.
It was ok. Basically the heroine decides her brother is a horrible ruler who is killing too many people. So she makes a deal with an imprisoned bone wraith to get magic to defeat him. They have sex a lot even though he is in a cell guarded by her brother's men down the hall.
