Alpha Lucian Hendrix of the Baihu Clan of white tiger shifters has always been a dominant and powerful leader, every time he catches the scent of his true mate, Zenya Hale, his primal instincts kick in and he becomes consumed by a possessive desire to claim her as his own. He is accustomed and expects to have his commands followed without question. But she is not one to be tamed or controlled, and she resists his advances at every turn, determined to maintain her independence and defy her clan's traditions.
Zenya, recognizing the threat of losing her freedom under the guise of a forced pair bond, makes a daring escape on the morning after their bonding ceremony. She thinks she has freed herself not only from Lucian's possessive grasp but her relief is short-lived as she falls into the hands of a group of sinister vampires.
Rescued by Cullen Manchester and his team, she is brought to Windsong, a safe haven. With the help of the Shadow Sisters she slips away again before Lucian can arrive at Windsong to claim her.
Caught between her fierce desire for freedom and the escalating supernatural wars, Zenya must navigate a path filled with peril and passion. As Lucian’s relentless pursuit continues, both must confront what it truly means to be bound by destiny or torn apart by conflict.

I just love the way Delta James can pull me in with her multi-dimensional characters, her scenic placement of the storyline, and her highly charged description, whether its from the action, drama, angst, humor, or the chemistry between our hero and heroine. Not only are our leading cast members both independent and strong willed, but we're allowed the privilege of watching them grow personally and become a bit humbled by it. Don't think for a the Shadow League or the Shadow Sisters aren't involved. That's what's going to keep you on the edge of your seat.
3.5-4 The story of Lucian and Zenya was very turbulent and left me divided on how I felt. Lucian was OTT alpha which is good to a level but he just treated her like a child not bothering to listen. Her brother was not much better. No wonder she ran and ran. Zenya was strong and resilient but also imho a bit bratty and overly consumed by anger. Communication needed here folks. We see the Shadow sisters, vampires and the trouble within the Shifter world. It is still a worthwhile and enjoyable read…just not one of my overall favorites by this author.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Runaway Bride might have been a more apt title as Zenya made her escape on the night of their wedding. Lucian marking her as his fated mate was a tough piece to read. The Shadow Sisters featured more prominently. From Lucian's view point I could understand why he would go all out to get he's fated mate and in ways he was considerate, but also high handed. Lucky, the bobcat, added a lighter note. I love this series, but this book was a bit dark for me personally. I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary Thank you BookSirens
Another great Otter Cove story!! Lucian and Zenya's story was a cat & mouse chase. Lucian is very Alpha male beating on his chest like Tarzan and Zenya a strong woman who doesn't want to be tied down and have to submit. This is definitely a page turner!! I highly recommend this series!!

The new series is a spin-off from the Mystic River Shifters series and will even have cameo appearances from some of the characters in that series. Like Mystic River, Otter Cove is a small, isolated community inhabited only by shifters—but shifters of all kinds.
Ice Storm Stronghold in Otter Creek, Alaska is home to the Baihu Clan of white tiger shifters. With the return of Lucian Hendrix will come the challenge to Zion Hale--Alpha and father to Zaiden and Zenya. Lucian will win, and Zaiden will be named his Beta. Zenya is young, and her plans to attend college will be allowed, but even she has a way of thwarting Lucian's plans, and receives a scholarship to UC Davis. But now it is time for graduation, and Lucian is ready to claim his mate.
"With change comes opportunities: a new start, a new way of viewing the world, a whole new life that you had never even dreamed of. I believe that opportunity is here for all of us. Today."
Zenya has planned for several years and requested the aid of the Shadow Sisters, who will help her escape her brother's hold to force her back to the clan. She will begin a new life, doing what she wants, and that does not mean being first lady to the clan or forced into a pairing with an Alpha.
"You are not alone. You may have left your clan, but you have a sisterhood that has embraced you."
A new life, in a new location, is exactly what Zenya wants for her future--but how long will it last? It seems that not only is Lucian determined, but her own brother is working against her.
"The life she had planned for herself was over--at least for now."
The story is a roller coaster ride with all the ups and downs between Lucian and Zenya. Deep down, even though she truly knows they are fated mates, she wants choices, not forced into a pairing. Lucian is a man who demands but will learn he must take a softer approach with Zenya. She isn't into taking orders just because he is Alpha. Their relationship will eventually be give and take, and rather than her fighting him, she discovers he respects her, the clinic is only the beginning.
The story has the good, and the bad, with trouble brewing, and sides needing to be made. While Bahiu Clan hasn't taken sides, that is changing, and Lucian knows he needs to back the Resistance against the Shadow League. A battle is coming and with Zenya's medical skills, the Bahiu Clan is better equipped.
It was a long hard battle between Lucian and Zenya to find their peace with one another. As with all good relationships, both parties must give and take. Eventually, they find their way--as fated mates have through their lifetimes.
This book was terrible. It amazes me how someone could justify stalking, controlling, abuse as “romantic” or deserving of a happy ending. Honestly, this would have been a happier ending if the MMC had died along with the beta and the girl got to live out her life in peace. I would have considered that more of a win. Instead, he chases her down (for the third time) after she runs away from him, and forces her to submit to coming back to be his mate.
The whole book she shouts from the roof tops that she doesn’t want to be his mate or part of the pack, yet everyone acts like she should just accept it because that’s what the alpha hole wants and says will make her happy. No one in the whole book from her pack, including her brother listens to her or pays any mind to what she repeatedly says she wants and doesn’t want. And the MMC just keeps saying that they’re mates and he’s going to keep her whether she likes it or not and she has literally no choice. Doesn’t matter that she runs away from him THREE times or literally enlists the help of some secret organization to get away from him. He is convinced that once he traps her at home she’ll just do what she’s told and be happy.
This is the kind of couple people want to root for? Seriously, you find this type of behavior romantic? For those of you who liked this book - Are y’all okay? Do you not know the definition of a stalker or abuser?
Yea don’t care if literally the last two pages he says I love you - abusers will always say that even as they take away all your choices and force you to live how they want which is exactly what this guy did. She doesn’t love him - she just gave up because not even her own brother was willing to protect her and I think she figured she’d never be able to truly escape anyway because he’d keep coming and messing up whatever life she tried to build for herself.
Please stop categorizing stories that celebrate and reward controlling and abusive behavior, stalking, and rape (she said no multiple times, that is rape don’t even try to tell me different). This is not a romance - if we want to call it erotica that’s fine since it plays into some people’s dominant fantasies, but this is not a romance.

This was a difficult book to get through. I found myself liking Cullen more and more because he didn't like Lucian. This is Lucian and Zenya's story. I had hopes that Zenya would follow through with her threat to take out both her brother who was the obnoxious chauvinist beta and her mate, who was worse. At the start of the book Lucian was the typical obnoxious alpha and the brother had a bit of redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, they got worse as the story went on. It got to the point that had we'd been introduced to any of the females in the clan, they would have joined the Shadow Sisters, Cullen's clan, and Zenya to decimate and destroy them along with the other idiots in the clan.
There's no real connection between the two during the majority of the book. Zenya is never heard or talked to but treated like a three-year-old who's wants and feelings have no meaning. The dislike of Lucian and his beta kept building the entire book. It wasn't until midway of the next to last chapter that Lucian finally showed a bit of remorse and the ability to redeem if he changed his actions. It was too little too late for anything but an "about time idiot" feeling and hope that the bobcat kicks him out of bed for years. Male white tigers can be overbearing pains in the back side, but Lars (Judgement) was never this clueless and idiotic & you could feel the bond. Unfortunately, the reader felt that Zenya was just resigning herself rather than there being a real bond until the absolute very end. I'm going to hope that the author just didn't realize how irredeemable & obnoxious she'd made the Alpha and the Beta or how close to the end she left the Alpha's "I'm an idiot" moment. She's had some serious imbecilic characters but after Bre in the prior book, I guess it was the male's turn in this one. Hopefully that's out of the system.
As a story, it was interesting. Zenya was very intelligent and conniving. Her leaving to go to school and ability to put her plans into motion showed a very strong female who put the men to shame. Lucky is definitely a character we need more of.

Elusive Mate is Book #7 in the Otter Cove Shifters series, by Delta James. Loving this series! Lucian is a white tiger shifter, Alpha to the clan at Ice Storm. He’s strong, arrogant, convinced his will is going to prevail, simply because he wills it. That includes Zenya, daughter to the old alpha, beaten in combat. Zenya wasn’t sorry her sire was defeated, not even sorry that Lucian is the new Alpha. She just doesn’t want to be his First Lady and mate. She doesn’t want to be ANYONE’S mate. Zenya has dreams, goals, and she’s determined to choose her own path. She truly is ELUSIVE; yes, Lucian finds her, only to once again have her escape him. Will these guys EVER learn?? 😆🤣😂 Centuries of males dominating the females in the Shifter world, has bred females that are feisty, determined, resourceful. They are willing to risk everything for their right to choose…and they’d be successful if not for one thing. Love. It truly does triumph. But till it does…enjoy the ride! Zenya is one of the most independent females that DF has written. She leads Lucian a merry dance, to the delight of familiar faces (always love to see them!) and new. Delta James’ shifter world continues to grow & expand. I love her Alphas; whatever else they are or are not, they love their mates with every fiber of their being, devoted to their safety, comfort & pleasure. DF’s females are beautiful, intelligent, independent; when they finally choose to accept their mate, it’s because of love. And I love how that makes me feel.💕💕

A wonderful addition to an amazing series!! MUST-READ!!
It has been a while since I’ve fallen into a world so totally that my daily reality seemed like a distant fictional setting. In ELUSIVE MATE I became completely immersed in the story. I forgot who I was and what I needed to do because I became immersed in the story and discovered how author Delta James found a way of threading a communal issue, a challenging reality throughout her Otter Cove, Mystic River, Winged Warriors, and other paranormal series she’s written over the last few years. I was in awe of this master storyteller's ability to wrap my focus so completely into Zenya and Lucian's trial by taking a thread that turns into a threat to the wonderful paranormal characters readers like me have fallen in love with over the years. That thread/threat plays a real role in ELUSIVE MATE because while readers are immersed in the rhythmic love growing between Zenya and Lucian, they also wonder if that evolving love will bind these characters into treasured fated mates or if that love embroiled in a time of conflict that will ultimately tear them apart forever? ELUSIVE MATE is a romance for mature readers and those looking for a romance story that will take them into a world so enticing that reality takes a back seat. If you have never read a paranormal romance start with ELUSIVE MATE but don’t be surprised if you want to go back to read all of the novels in the series listed above! I volunteered to read an ARC copy of ELUSIVE MATE and this is my voluntary 5-STAR review. Happy Pages!! 😉
This book deserves more than a 3-star rating, but 4-stars is slightly too generous. I have really enjoyed the Otter Cove and Mystic River intertwined series, and this book advances the overarching storyline of both series a little more; however, on its own it wasn’t a favorite.
The dynamic between Lucian and Zenya was completely frustrating for me. Lucian is a powerful alpha of their clan and recognizes Zenya is his fated mate when she was a teenager and too young to be claimed. He did the right thing in allowing her time to grow up and go away to college. His attitude about giving her this time was complete entitled jerk. He gave little consideration for what she wanted and expended no effort in wooing her or getting to know her beyond a physical compulsion to be with her.
Zenya is somewhat of a brat in her singleminded determination to get away from Lucian and never go back to Alaska. While I can completely understand her concern for being apprehensive of being forcibly claimed, that really didn’t seem to be a true risk. Lucian was guilty of not listening or being considerate of her wishes, but he was extremely patient and tolerant of her behavior compared to many other alphas.
Approximately 75-80% of the story is about Zenya trying to get away or keep away from Lucian and him try to find her or keep her in his proximity. There really is minimal romance or romantic gestures, or even time together to foster their bond.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I think this was a first for me reading this author's work. I didn't like either MC. It didn't feel romantic or steamy. Lucian was overbearing and inflexible in his determination to get Zenya. His reaction when he walked into Colby's office was way OTT.
I found Zenya to be irritating with her endlessly angry attitude. Girl chill. Can you try to have a conversation instead of an angry rant? Lucian and Zenya's inability to communicate with one another was off putting.
Lucian was so determined with regard to having what HE wanted and Zenya was so bitter and angry, determined to have what SHE wanted that I never felt that expected chemistry or connection between fated mates.
Even when they finally connected, it felt like too little, too late. Resistance is fine. It is expected. The chase is expected. But this kind of virulent hostility coming from Zenya and Lucian's own arrogance and level of being unreasonable, whether justified or not took the enjoyment out of reading this particular book.
All I can say with this one is read it and judge for yourself. Just because it hit me one way does not mean you will feel the same.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via BookSirens.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "ELUSIVE MATE" This was quite the interesting, intriguing, supernatural romance with danger, destiny, peril, passion, forced bondings, angst, steam, twists that keeps you turning the look pages. Alpha Lucian Hendrix Alpha of the Baihu Clan of White Tigers powerful, dominant, he expects his what he demands he met without question but h I s true mate Zenya Hale isn't one to follow Clan traditions not one to be tamed or controlled she wants her freedom not he mated to an Alpha. Zenya after seeing a forced bonding feeling like she'll lose her freedom she escapes but she taken by a group of sinister Vampire's. Cullen Manchester manages to rescue Zenya with his team & the help of the Shadow Sisters taken to Windsong a safe haven for her, but she escapes once again before Lucian arrives at Windsong to claim her. I definitely recommend to get this on the edge of your seat story Zenya wanting her freedom but also she's afraid of the escalating supernatural wars, will she survive, will Zenya & Lucian get a HEA, will they learn what s it's like to be bound by destiny or ripped apart by what's up come its a must read you can't miss I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. GREAT INTENSE, RIVITING, SHIFTER ROMANCE TO FIND YOUR TRUE DESTINED MATE 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Lucian is a white tiger who returned to his origin pack to challenge the Alpha. Lucian has always know Zenya was his fated mate, however she was too young to claim. Zenya has never wanted to me first Lady to any pack and wanted to live her life on her terms. Lucian and her brother Zaiden are determined to decide what is best for her. Zenya want to be a veterinarian. When she gets a full ride to a college of her choice, Lucian send some of his men to watch over her. While away, Zenya makes contact with the Shadow Sister's and hatches a plan to start a new life for herself. When the time comes to run, Lucian and Zaiden are none the wiser. As Zenya is living her new life, trouble is brewing in the shifter world which makes Lucian move heaven and earth to find her. When he finds her in NC, he brings her back home and mates her. But again their arrogance is their undoing, as Zenya escapes again. However, this time she is captured by a group of Vampire's. When she is freed by Cullen Manchester, she is flown to Colby Reynolds estate and is once again helped by the Shadow Sister's. However, Lucian will not be denied. This series is continually evolving with new characters who all have a part to play. I cannot wait to see how this interwoven series comes to completion.
This is one more piece to the puzzle that will be the battle to end all battles between the Shadow League and their puppet masters and the Resistance. The story between Lucian and his fated mate Zenya was a little off to me. I have to be honest in that I did not like the character of Lucian at all. Maybe that was because he was a white tiger shifter, but he came across as arrogant (and not in a good way), a bully (to his mate) and not good mate material in my opinion. While the overarching story is great, the relationship and how they became mates was not as enjoyable as in other books. But I will try to give the author a pass as this is the first book of hers I have read where I have disliked the main male character so much. It was not what I expected, and this is maybe what makes her a good author. She wrote Lucian's story so well, I can truly say I did not like his character. But I know that the Resistant needs his clan's help to defeat the Shadow League. It was also good to read how the Shadow Sisters actually operate. Previous books have alluded to how they work, but this book gave the most information to how they actually work to save women. Luckily, this book did have an HEA so maybe Lucian is redeemable.
"This is an Awesome Shifter Romance series" Each book is fun to read, and will have you hooked! You will find yourself looking forward to the next book in this series. Lucian is a sexy and dominant white tiger shifter. His best friend Zaiden who is also his betas sister is Lucians fated mate. Only she refuses to believe it! Zaiden talks Lucian into letting his sister Zenya to go to collage. Since she was so young Lucian agreed. Zenya studied to be a veterinarian. When she graduates she does not plan to return to Lucian!. Zenya contacts an organization called the shadow sister's. The shadow sister's help females escape abusive or dominant males. Her brother goes to get her but she escaped him! Lucian vows to find his elusive mate. He finds her and takes her home. Then he sets out to prove they are fated mates. Zenya hates herself because she finds herself wanting Lucian. She still vows to escape him again. Only Lucian claims her before she can. Zenya is cunning she managed to escape again only to be captured by vampires! Can Lucian find and rescue her? Will he ever be able to convince her they are fated mates? You will love this incredibly exciting, funny, and scorching hot story and series. It is a five star plus series.
An adventure always awaits in Alaska when dealing with these supremely robust and confident shifters. Lucien, the Alpha of the Baihu Clan, is one such man. He is extremely old-school in his mentality, or at least in his way of communicating. Thus, despite his attractive appearance, his purported fated mate, Zenya, wants nothing to do with him. The choice to live her life and pursue her passions drives Zenya into a battle of wills with Lucien that will test both of them to their capacity, both physically and emotionally. Is it a battle that either can truly win?
I have read both this series and the Mystic River Shifter series in their entirety (to this point). While I must honestly say Lucien is my least favorite Alpha thus far, he did display growth and did EVENTUALLY say some of the right things (amongst his numerous wrong). Zenya is certainly a handful, yet a more mindful approach would have yielded significantly different results. To bad Lucien refuses to learn from advise given, and insists on doing everything the hard way. To me, Zenya is the one who has her work cut out for her.
I received a gift copy of this book and freely volunteered my review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
I guess there would be no story if people talked to each other. Delta James' Elusive Mate, a 193-page book, is the seventh book in the Otter Cove series. This is the story of Lucian and Zenya, two highly unlikeable people at different times in the book and for different reasons. However, they share the trait of being selfish and arrogant. You'll find typos, repetitions, and frustration with stupid characters or poor writing throughout the book. The most glaring example is Zenya being helped to disappear and start over far from Lucian and his pack, only to use her unusual first name. The Shadow Sisters have been doing this successfully for a very long time. They wouldn't make such a newbie mistake. If Zenya insisted he keep her name, they might have suggested using the initial Z for her middle name. I dislike it when an author assumes her characters and readers aren't entirely on the ball intelligence wise. I found it sad when Zenya spent so much time making her cottage just right, only to have to leave it all behind, especially for such a poor reason. I was more emotionally invested in Zenya's time in North Carolina and the bobcat than in the rest of the story. I borrowed this book from KU and recommend it because you may get frustrated when reading.
4 stars. I've only read one other book in this series and while I could follow most of the different factions in the storyline, it was difficult to keep up with all the nicknames of the different characters. I would have liked more romantic suspense in general.
The storyline started slow with Zenya's constant denial of being Lucian's fated mate and constantly trying to push him away. It picks up and gets interesting when she manages to evade them and we see what kind of life she wants for herself. The setting for a good bit of suspense as a result of her second attempt at trying to escape felt like a missed opportunity to demonstrate her well pointed out Krav Manga skills only to have the situation resolved shortly with no action on her part.
Overall, the ending seemed to be forced in order to wrap up a story for Lucian and Zenya in this part of the series. I mean, the entire story we hear about how much Zenya hates Lucian (and her brothers loyalty to him) and never wants anything to do with him and pack life. Then it’s like she just accepts he is the one for her and submits to the life she never wanted.
I received an ARC of this from BookSirens for an honest review.
The good. This is a standalone, but does have a back story, so best to read it in order. It did have a HFN/HEA ending.
I loved Lucky. Great addition to the story. And his attitude towards Lucian.
Very slow burn to the steamy romance.
Lucian did redeem himself at the end of the book.
It was frustrating to read how long it took Zenya to come to terms with her feelings. How long it took her to realize what she truly wanted .
Lucian was very much and to me in some ways too much of a macho alpha. He did give her time , quite a bit of time to work thing out, but she kept finding ways to block him.
It was action packed from the git go. The world building was good. I could feel how frustrated Lucian was with Zenya and how she out witted him and her brother. That took a lot of courage and strategy. (she did have the help of the Sacred Sisters).
Lucian truly loved Zenya and wanted only the best for her. He just had a hard time expressing his feelings.
Overall a good book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4/5 🌟 YES!! This is what I’ve been missing! I can’t really explain it, but all the shifter books since the Syndicate series (in my opinion) have been missing something. I absolutely adored the Syndicate Series, all of those books were 4-5 🌟 and then Delta released Otter Cove and the all the other shifter books and I just felt they were missing something. Kinda like Delta’s spark if I can call it that. I’m not saying those books were bad but generally I rated them a 2/3 🌟 hardly any of them were 4 🌟 Honestly it might’ve have been because I feel like the MMC for the other shifter books..were really plain. They weren’t possessive, dominant alpha male shifters who were crazy obsessed with their fated mates. The MMC felt flat and way too normal for a shifter romance. But that might just be a me thing. I’m probably completely overthinking it. Absolutely no shade to Delta, I have and always will love her as an author. I finished this one in 1 sitting, because I felt like I was actually reading Delta James again. Loved this one. Hopefully Delta keeps putting this energy into all future shifter books.
"Elusive Mate" by Delta James is a tantalizing blend of passion, power, and paranormal intrigue. Alpha Lucian Hendrix of the Baihu Clan is a commanding presence, his every move driven by the primal need to claim his true mate, Zenya Hale. However, Zenya is fiercely independent, determined to resist the dominance and control that Lucian embodies.
The story kicks off with an intense push and pull between Lucian's possessive desires and Zenya's unyielding quest for freedom. Her daring escape following their bonding ceremony sets the stage for a high-stakes adventure, especially as she finds herself ensnared by a group of sinister vampires.
Rescued by Cullen Manchester and his team, Zenya's journey to safety at Windsong introduces new allies and dangers. Yet, her evasion only fuels Lucian's relentless pursuit. The chemistry between them is electric, adding a layer of steamy romance to the suspenseful plot.
Delta James masterfully balances the fierce passion of a shifter romance with the complexities of supernatural conflicts and personal autonomy. Zenya's struggle to maintain her independence while grappling with destiny's pull makes for a compelling narrative.
"Elusive Mate" is a thrilling, steamy read that keeps you on the edge of your seat, eagerly turning pages to see if Lucian and Zenya will be bound by fate or torn apart by conflict. Fans of paranormal romance will find this installment of the Otter Cove Shifters series utterly captivating.

Lucian was in the navy after he was banished from the Baihu Clan of white tigers. He returns and challenges the Alpha, Zion Hale, as Zion’s son Zaiden called him home to settle the score. He wins and becomes Alpha. Zaiden is his beta and Z’s sister is Zenya who Lucian knows is his fated mate. Since she is so young, he allows her to go to college as she wants to become a veterinarian. He sends Z for her upon her graduation as he believes he has waited long enough for his fated mate. However, Zenya was smart and had already enlisted the Shadow Sisters as she doesn’t want to be Lucian’s mate. Things go crazy and Baihu’s that were sent are in a frenzy to find her. I felt really bad for Z as he is caught in between his sister and his Alpha, a rock and a hard place. lol. I really enjoyed the story as it was hilarious, scary and romantic although Lucian is a bit of a Neanderthal at first. No seriously, all shifter males are! Especially Alphas. I totally needed my AC on, for those scenes. Wooo. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next books.
I received an advance reading copy for free and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Alpha shifter Lucian recognized Zenya as his fated mate years ago, but “permitted” her to leave the safety of their white tiger clan to attend college to become a veterinarian. When Zenya graduates, Lucian sends her brother to bring her home so he can formally claim her. Zenya has no intention of submitting to a pair bonding she doesn’t want and she’s clever enough to outwit the bossy alpha, choosing to pursue her own dreams rather than live under his control.
Each time Lucian thinks he has her, Zenya manages to elude him. She leads him on quite a chase that includes vampires, new alliances, and a high-stakes decision about what role to play in the looming battle between the sinister Shadow League and the Resistance.
By the last chapter, Lucian has learned to communicate his love and Zenya has accepted that her feelings for Lucian can no longer be denied. It took most of the book to get there, but it was an entertaining journey.

Wonderful and captivating read, you will be totally enchanted and unable to put down until end This was a very different read from author Delta James and I found it to be a read that totally transfixed me, I am sure that other readers will be as equally blown away by this book. Lucien is a very arrogant and determined individual and he is determined that if he is to succeed, he will have to be brought safely into the safety of the possibility of finding a fated mate. Zenya had never wanted to find a mate she has always wanted to retain her freedom and she could never have ever foreseen coming across Lucien and what this would mean to her life, how her Fated Mate would change her life and the way that her life will be changed. This is a simply wonderful read and I guarantee that you will love every moment of this amazing read and you will be enchanted by this amazing read. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
Lucian is a white tiger shifter and became the alpha of his pack by winning the battle with the old alpha. The old alpha's daughter, Zenya, is Lucian's fated mate and she has no interest in the role. She dreams of being a veterinarian and having her own life and freedom. She was so committed to her goal that she would never consider having feelings for Lucian.
When she graduated, Lucian and his shifters were there to take her back home to their clan, but she had other plans. Enter the Shadow Sisters to help her escape and start her vet practice in another city where she hopes she will be able to work in peace and be left alone. Not happening!
Eventually there is a give and take between them and they find a way to meet each of their personal and professional needs. It's fascinating to see two strong, stubborn characters bang heads together. This is another Delta James winner, just like the rest of her books!!

I love Otter Cove books, beautifully crafted, thrilling, action packed with fascinating characters and amazing stories. White tiger Alpha Lucian Baihu Clan is a very strong, powerful and stubborn male, he waited over ten years to claim Zenya as his fated mate, he insisted he would make her happy. Zenya has repeatedly declared she will not accept his claim. She wants to make her own life away from the clan, she is graduating as a vet, her brother has come to take her home to Lucian. I loved her brilliant escape with help from the Shadow Sisters, new name and identity, changing her look, found new home, friends and job. Lucian finds her and takes her home, keeps telling her how she belongs there with him. The foolish arrogance of the man, he never really thought to say the very important words a woman really needs to hear, “I love and need you”. I hope you enjoy reading this awesome book, the ending is deliciously brilliant.🥰💓 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Zenya was one determined woman to get away from the msn that claimed he was her mate. She out foxed him multiple times to escape his clutches. All shexwanted was to have a choice in what she wanted to do with her life and to be loved not just accept that that's just her lot in life.
Lucian is absolutely certain that Zenya is his fsted mate. He over protectiveness and ideas of what his mate will do once they came togther, is what she bucked him about all along. The men of the vlan never gave much thought tonwhat the women thought. And if he just said " I love you" instead of we're fated, it might have gone a lot easier for him.
Like all the stories that Delta James write, they're are really good. The characters are well developed and their emotions can be felt as you read about them. The Shadow League in many of the books in this series is a continuous threat to the shirters in the world that the author created. There's plenty of spice, danger, adventure, and HEA. This series is really good and I look forward to new one in the series.
When choosing a book to read, you want it to have many elements that keep you entertained. This story is just that. However, while reading this and actually submerging myself in the characters and storyline, I found myself agitated and slowly becoming to boiling point. I had to step away….several times.
While no doubt feeling and sensing Lucians' love for Zenya, he totally and utterly approached it in a selfish, controlling, and manipulative way. He deserved, if not more, everything she put him through. Even though on her behalf it was futile.
I was left still feeling pissed at the end of their story. His portrayal of how an alpha male should present himself as leader of his clan left a bitter taste in my mouth. If younger males see his behavior as acceptable, then I feel sorry for any female that comes in contact with them.
Despite my indifference, I have loved all the books in this series. This was no different. It had a happy ending, if not abruptly.
I noticed that a lot of people thought that Lucian did Zenya wrong when he marked her, but I think she was a spoiled brat. She knew they were fated mates and he left her go off to 8 years of college and then she ducked out on him. If she really wanted him to not find her, she would have changed her first name - duh.
Anyway, Zenya is determined to not end up married to Lucian and makes arrangements with the Shadow Sisters to escape her fate. Unfortunately, Lucian does not really have a hard time finding her. Once again, she bides her time and runs off. But is she running into more danger than she can handle? And does she really want to stay away from Lucian or is she just being stubborn?
I read this book pretty quickly and I mainly felt bad for her new friends in NC and the other veterinarians at her new practice. Her spoiled princess act annoyed me. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
I enjoyed the book, but I didn’t love it… I just didn’t connect with the main character’s love story: Lucian was an asshole 95% of the story and Zenya just wants to get away from him. I was more interested in the Shadow Sisters story line than Lucian. It felt a bit like filler for the overarching storyline the author has with the Shadow League, Shadow Sisters and the Resistance. Lucky was my favorite character and I loved hearing about him! All this said, I really did still enjoy the story and felt for Zenya when she was trying to get away from her overbearing fated mate and brother. She had started a life in Outer Banks and was so sad to let the pieces go. There are a couple of small tine jumps in the story that seem to come out of nowhere, but it’s not too crazy. Overall, 3.25 stars.
Spice: 3 of 5
I was lucky enough to get a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
