Copywriter by day, nerd by night, Hailey Holloway is living the post college dream. Her life may not be flashy and exciting but it’s enough for her. After a late night at work, Hailey stumbles upon two Dragons brawling in the middle of Philadelphia. In an act of kindness and lapse of sanity, she comforts the Dragon who was left behind to die. In doing so she inadvertently invited the soul of Dacea into herself for safe keeping. Hailey just wants to live her life as simply and quietly as possible but with the voice of a disembodied Dragon in her head, she has little hope of achieving her goal.
Dacea will do anything to be free of Hailey, a human who is moments from checking herself into a psychiatric ward. He is grateful to be alive, but at what cost to his sanity? The Dragon world is in upheaval. Green is at war with Red, and he is of no use to anyone while stuck with Hailey.
The solution to their problem is not without its risks. But just how far will Hailey go to be free of the Dragon?

Now, I did go through a fad with reading these type of books but it was quickly squashed and I was a bit afraid to try this one but now I’m so happy that I did. I was able to finish the book before the day was through because if you ask anyone who peeked into my cubicle – I looked like I was in a trance staring at my computer screen and my index finger glued to the mouse spinning wheel. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the book.
The characters were amazing and the author did a spectacular job with developing them; Hailey especially with starting out as a stupid personality and growing into such an important part of the story.
The one thing I didn’t like about the story was how quickly events happened. I believe it was too quick for Hailey to suddenly go from wanting Dak out of her body to wanting him to stay. Besides that little quirk…I loved their banter and Hailey had me laughing on numerous occasions.
Re-Cap Hailey has a what occupying her brain and body? And she needs to do what? And wait….what is after Hailey now?
You know what? I’m not going to answer those questions…you just have to pick up this book to find out on your own!

You know that anticipation of a new book, new author, new series? Am I going to like it, am I going to be sad, mad, angry or just not care? Spark, the first of the Hailey Holloway Series had me from page one, not carefully landing into the story, but plunged ungracefully and loving every page of funny, snarky attitude as we are invited into the truly overcrowded mind of Hailey Holloway, who already mentally talks to herself! Two men with unusual eyes, wait, two dragons, wait, two men again, no one dragon and one man, battling it out, one human young woman already having a weird day, getting caught up in the madness and figuring it’s just the way her life rolls? Even when one of the dragon/men lies battered and dying, she is trying to give him comfort, all thoughts of her own safety forgotten, or at least put aside, and then, it happens, as he lay dying, his soul or essence seeps into Hailey’s body and she is now sharing her mind with another; and the sparks begin to fly! Are you ready for attitude, snark, snarls and a woman with her own bite, a heart of gold and a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time?
Meet Hailey and Dak, who, stuck in one body, take to battling with words, volleying back and forth like a ping pong ball inside Hailey’s head. Meanwhile, another dragon who was out to kill Dak is on the hunt for Hailey, but why? Just to get to Dak? Is there a two for one special on death in Hailey’s new world? What is the age old war between Silas and Dak about? How is Hailey now so important to each of them?
Sound a little crazy? Sound like a lot of fun? Sound a little hot? Where there are dragons, there is smoke and fire. Where there is Hailey, there is humor, tension and too many questions to answer! One thing for sure, if you ever need a crazy-good read, light on seriousness, heavy on great dialogue and fascinating action, not to mention the twists, oh my, the twists…you may need a little Dramamine just to follow Hailey’s antics!
Thank you K.C. Stewart for your fresh and fun look at paranormal romance as it whips by at breakneck speed! This author can write, set the stage, the mood and leave me begging for an encore or two! Yep, this is truly a gem, all bright and shiny! I received this copy in exchange for my honest review.
Series: Hailey Holloway - Book 1 Publication Date: March 1, 2014 Publisher: K.C. Stewart Genre: Paranormal Fantasy Romance Print Length: 224 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble Reviewed for: http://tometender.blogspot.com
Wonderful book it kept me captivated from beginning to end. It had a bit of everything, evil, good, friendships made, love lost, love found, and it was funny as hell. Hailey the main character, was quite funny, and loved a good verbal sparring session, she is very quick witted, and the things she comes out with, are just funny (it's all in good fun). She mostly verbally spares with Dacea. I found myself laughing out loud while reading this book.
It was amazing watching the changes in Hailey, as the book went on. She really became a strong woman, and let people in finally. She had walls up to protect herself from hurt. She experiences a lot of pain throughout her life, beginning when she is quite young.
She has no friends, or boyfriend in the beginning of the story. Her life is quite repetitive, and she hates conflict, which her fellow coworkers take advantage of.
The whole dragon story was so intriguing, and well written. There were a few little typos, but not much, and it didn't deter from the story. It was always obvious what was meant to be written. What an imagination, to write a book like this, and have it be so good.
There are other books in this series, lucky us :) I really look forward to reading them all, I hope they are all as good as this first book. If they are I will be one happy camper.
I highly recommend this book, to anyone who likes fantasy books, that invoke a good deal of laughter, has a great story line, and is very well written. I think this book would be for ages 16, and up. That is just my opinion.
Give this book a try, I think you'll be happy you did.
I'm going to be completely honest because anything less would be doing a disservice to the author, as well as those interested in giving this novel a try.
Ready?
It's quite good!
The characterization is strong - particularly the two leads. We're given rich demonstrations of their personalities, likes and dislikes, flaws and strengths, etc. Overall, they feel like real, multi-dimensional people. Their chemistry is palpable and reads very realistically. We understand exactly why they love each other and consequently can't help but root for them - making for a swift, enjoyable read.
My only gripe has nothing to do with content: There are a great deal of punctuation problems and other typos. In my opinion, this is the fault of the editor and shouldn't reflect poorly on the author. Heck, it may not even bother you unless you're a stickler for proper cosmetics in writing. Even for its typos, there's nothing that's rendered totally indecipherable. It's easy to see what the author intended to say, and then move along.
An interesting premise (or lack thereof) will make or break a novel, and this one has it in spades. There's plenty of action and obstacles to overcome, but also some great moments of the characters just hanging out, drawn in a way that makes us feel as if we're among friends - laughing and crying right there with them. Still, we're constantly reminded of what's at stake, keeping us invested. And for that reason, the story REALLY works.
I know you are not suppose to judge a book by it's cover, but when I saw the cover of this book, I knew I had to read it. I had no clue what the book was even about, but I knew I wanted to get my hands on it. Once I found out the book was about dragons, I knew it had to be mine.
I am so glad I was able to read this book, because I truly enjoyed it! The book was so unique! A hot dragon shifter stuck inside the main character's head? Now, that is truly something I have never read about before. The book had action, romance, mystery, and basically anything else a good book should have. I was just completely absorbed by this book.
The characters in this book where phenomenal, the author did an amazing job giving them their own, multi-dimensional, personality. I ended up loving every character of the book. It was actually quite freighting how much I could relate to the main character, Hailey. We had so much in common that I thought that we were the same person (now if I can get a hot dragon shifter boyfriend, that would be amazing). I loved how awkward and lovable Hailey was. She also proved that she could be strong when she needed to be.
Let's now talk about Dacea. I loved him. I want my own Dacea. He was passionate, protective, and completely swoon worthy. This dragon definitely knew how to create some steamy passion with Hailey.
"Dropping his head, Dacea feathered his lips across hers. Her hands steeled on his shoulders then softened to a caress. He indulged himself in the taste of her lips when she opened: it was like savoring the sweetest candy."
I will admit that at some point of the book, it was a little confusing to figure out if you were reading from the mind of Dacea or Hailey since they were sharing the same body. I was eventually able to figure it out, but it was a little annoying at times. I also wish we could have had more scenes of Dacea and Hailey bonding, because it was mentioned that they watched movies and other things together that helped them care for one another, but the reader does not get to see those scenes. I would have been nice to see a tiny bit more development of their relationship in that aspect.
I am so excited to read the next book in this series, because I am sure it is going to be just as addicting as this book was. I am really looking forward to more development of the relationship between Hailey and Dacea. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance, especially if sexy dragon shifters sound intriguing to you!
Spark, (The Hailey Holloway Series), K C Stewart Review from jeannie zelos book reviews I enjoyed this novel but it was far lighter in content and plot than I’d expected – my mistake I’m sure of course. I’d read the sample of the second book which sounds great fun, and requested this one without checking. As always though I’m sure book two will read better as I know what’s gone before. Anyway Dacea the red dragon is stuck – inside Hailey, and the search is on to restore him. Silas the green dragon is behind many dragon murders recently and Dacea as dragon royalty is in his sights. Hailey was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time – or maybe as she saved Dacea’s life – the right place. I love the quirky conversations the duo have, bickering and sharing jokes. What I had a problem with was the hot – cold, should they – shouldn’t they reactions they both had over the Mate aspect. I liked Darcy and Lia, two worthy and useful sidekicks. I had a problem with some issues, such as the dragon mates dying together, when one dies so does the other...then how come are Lia and Darcy still alive after their dragons deaths. I’d guessed that was because they were Witch and Muse, so escape the death bonds...but then later when talking about Silas’ background and how his sister was killed within hours of her birth as she wasn’t a dragon we learn that females are never dragons – so who does die..maybe just human mates? ( and I felt for Silas in a way, how much of that harsh upbringing made him the sadistic, jealous, murdering person he became? He seems to have begun as a normal child.) I didn’t really understand what happened in the Dacea and Darcy’s husband issue ( forgot his name..Lex? ) There seems to have been a time when Dacea was in him, much as he is in Hailey, but then was separate again? Confusing and maybe I just missed how it was explained. Then there’s the missing person/arrest issue. That wouldn’t happen in UK and I’m sure there’s nowhere where it would happen...but if you can accept story aberrations, sort of writers artistic licence such as these you’ll find this a fun read. Most of the time Dak was just in Hailey's head – or swapping bodies with her briefly – so there wasn’t the conventional opportunity for a romance to develop, and I missed that. Never the less I’m looking forward to book two, seeing how they react as two separate people, and what the ex will get up to! She sounds like one I love, a real Harpy – in more ways that one! Stars: three. A fun read but confusing at times, and I think book two will be a better read. ARC supplied by Book Enthusiast Promotions and publisher
**I was given a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Reading Spark is one of the reasons I love being involved with a Blog. Never in a million years would I have picked this book to read and that would be my loss.
A dragon as a hero and hot love interest? Are you kidding me? How can this be anything but a joke?
Dacea (Dak to Hailey) is a shape shifter. He is a dragon in the Red tribe. Honestly Dak is more than a dragon he is heir apparent to the king’s crown. Hailey is a human who is kind of wish-washy in her everyday life. Her goal is to be invisible. She doesn’t make waves so, as a result, she is used by co-workers and hurt by her family. At least that is her life until Dacea’s soul enters her. I mean that literally she saves Dak unknowingly and he lives for a time in her body.
It isn’t a takeover or a switch of bodies like some stories; this is dual custody so to speak. Don’t get put off it is great. This living arrangement is the basis for some of the best scenes in the book. Hailey thinks she is going crazy and Dak wants to find a way to separate; to do that Hailey has to acknowledge Dak’s existence. This sets up some laugh out loud encounters that I love.
There are two more important characters in this story that I love. Lia is a goddess from Mount Olympus and many Greek gods are her support team. There is also Darby a witch and the mate of Dak’s best friend. A conversation with Dacea and Darby is so touching that I had to join them in a cry. There is also the very bad guy, Silas, who wants to rule the dragon world and needs Dacea dead to that.
There are so many ways this story could fail but it doesn’t. Not at all. The characters are so well developed and relatable that I couldn’t help but root for them from start to finish. The premise is never cheesy or laughable except in those scenes where the reader is supposed to laugh. The story itself is fast paced and packed with action that moves the story forward. I couldn’t put the book down.
I can’t wait to read more about this couple and other stories by Ms. Stewart.
I do have one complaint that explains why I didn’t give the book a 5+ star rating it deserves--the typos. These aren’t grammar errors these are out and out misspellings, duplicate words and such. They don’t get in the way of the story they are just aggravating. I can’t believe that Ms. Stewart’s support staff or editors didn’t catch these. Obviously they didn’t do their jobs. I would love to get an early read in the future to help her avoid these mistakes.
*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review*
In the world there are regular humans, witches, Gods, Goddesses, and dragons (if not more magical creatures). After an unfortunate occurrence Hailey wants nothing more than the voice in her head to stop and leave her alone. The only problem with that is, she (nor the man who is also a dragon), know how to get him from Hailey’s head back into his own body. Dacea, in his green dragon form, was fighting a long time enemy, another dragon named Silas, when Silas stabbed him to finish him off. Before he died he turned back into his human form. Hailey accidently stumbled into the fight on her way to work and after seeing if Dacea was all right, his soul/spirit traveled into Hailey to rest and recuperate. Dacea is making Hailey go crazy with his brooding and wanting to find a way to his body, and Hailey is making Dacea crazy by being sarcastic, annoying, having no magical qualities like him, and calling him annoying nicknames like Dak. After praying to any God or Goddess who will listen, Hailey finally gets a visit from Goddess Thalia who has a special book that has more information about the different kinds of dragons, and other mythological creatures out there. After reading and learning more, and learning that they need a witch to do a separation spell, Dacea says he knows of a witch, named Darby, that might be able to separate them and they all go to find her. However after spending time together and getting to know each other more, Dacea figures out that Hailey is his mate. They both seem to be a little more hesitant to want to go through with the process after all because they don’t know what it will mean for them in the end or if the separation will occur without flaw. I will say that reading the summary in the beginning I was a little confused as to how Hailey could come across actual dragons fighting, and how one got into her head, but it is actually very easy to understand. I completely love this story and all the characters in it. They are all so likeable and genuine. This book can be read as a standalone but I’m so happy that there is another book out that continues the story. I will most definitely be reading it.

I never know what I’m going to get when I pick up a new book by an author I haven’t read. Well this one sealed the deal, I’m a fan!!! A big one :) This is the first book of the series, and holy HAWT fire breathing dragons, I’m all in! I am quite impressed with this book and it’s plot and great characters. And let me say outright, just jump into book two asap, because you’ll love book one so much!
Hailey is a normal everyday girl. She has a normal job, some really crappy parents, and funny best friend and co-worker. And then she sees a man being attacked in the park. And BOOM, in her trying to help, she has somehow locked a dragon dude’s soul into hers. Well, now she’s stuck with him talking in her mind, and trying to find a way to get him out. She cracked me up. She would fight with him, in her head, then forget and talk out loud. It was definitely a crazy ride. And then, she has to keep a watch because the dragon who did this to him still wants to kill him, even if it means killing her. Yeah, there’s a lot of crazy happening all at once. Her only flaw, she really needs to learn to stand up for herself, which she eventually does, but confrontation shouldn’t be so hard.
Now Dak, aka Dacea, he’s the former king of the red dragons, which is significant. He’s got crazy friends that you’ll meet, like Darby, the witch. And the Lia the muse pops up. Yeah, it’s awesome. But at first, he’s a little condescending. He doesn’t understand the modern world, he’s quite old. And in the process, he changes Hailey, and she changes him. Plus, Dak has to realize that he isn’t the only one he has to worry about now, he’s stuck in Hailey, so she’s just as important, if not more so, than himself and boy did he get a couple of crash courses with some whip lash!
I LOVED the secondary characters, including the bad guy Silas. I KNEW something was going on, but I can’t tell you. The characters I think are what made the book for me, because I loved them so much, I couldn’t have loved the book any less. The plot is a good one, and when you finally get to the end, you’re going to have a little bit of a jaw drop and jump for more! Seriously, 5 PAWS, and Dragon CLAWS!! :)
Spark is a modern fantasy. Hailey encounters a battle between dragons one night on her way home and makes the life-changing decision to comfort the loser in his last moments. But doing so only invites the dragon's soul into her own body. Now, the dragon remains as a voice in her head, and Hailey has no idea how to get rid of him.
Alright, so the good stuff first. Wow, loved this story. It's very easy to read, humorous and quirky without being too cheesy. The dragons are interesting, particularly how they have evolved to look like humans most of the time. The idea of mates for life and how that comes into play in dragon lore matches up with other dragonish stories I've read over the years, but the details are unique to this story. I particularly like how Hailey and Dacea's relationship is developed, in no way insta-love, even if the potential for love seems strong from the start. I like the characters and how they each have their own voice and personality.
There's also a bit of Greek mythology thrown in, with a couple of Muses and a few references to Zeus thrown in for good measure. Although I like the Greek mythology, I do wonder how it fits in to the overall picture. This is a dragon story. You don't hear much about dragons in the old myths. There are also other creatures hinted at in a book Hailey is given to study, but we don't see any of them but dragons and a couple of the Muses. Perhaps in later books we'll get more of a taste of these things. Still, the story implies that if dragons are real, all mythical beings are real.
While I liked the story overall, I did notice some missing words, misused homonyms, and verb tense errors. If it had been only once or twice, I wouldn't have mentioned it, but I found myself slipping into auto-editor mode more often than I prefer.
Overall, I would say fans of contemporary fantasy, paranormal romance, and YA will find this story to their liking. I am looking forward to the next one. The story is entertaining, with plenty of action, romance, and fantasy mixed in. Definitely worth a read.
I received a review copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Wow!!! I know that sounds cliché, but WOW!!! This is the first book in the Hailey Holloway series. I can not wait for the next one. This book made me laugh out loud and ugly face cry. Only great authors can tap into those emotions and make you feel what the character is feeling. You, Ms. Stewart, have done that for me. This book has got everything from the unlikely heroine to the wickedly evil villain.
I found a lot of myself in Hailey. She was a very relatable character. She's that girl that doesn't really fit in and keeps her emotions locked inside while people tend to steam roll over her. She grows immensely as a person. I enjoyed seeing the change from a repressed wall flower to brave heroine.
Let us not forget that sexy dragon that's trapped inside her head. I know. Sounds crazy, right? You'll find out how he got there, and what it's going to take to remover him from her head and return him to the normal King of the Red Dragons. I also enjoyed seeing the change in Dacea, or 'Dak,' as Hailey calls him. Even though Hailey is fated to be his Mate, he thinks he needs to separate from her and get as far away as possible, as fast as he can. It's the only way to keep her safe and to guard his shattered heart from losing someone he might care for. How's that working for you, Dak?
I must mention Darby, the witch, and Lia, goddess and muse. They are the two other lovely ladies that are accomplices in trying and take down the wicked Silas. He would be the nasty Green Dragon, set out to take control of all four Sects of dragons and keep all of Dacea dead, not just his body.
I know it all sounds bonkers, but this is one crazy train you will want to hop on and and buckle yourself in for the ride. I was up all night reading this until my eyelids would not stay open any longer. Set aside a good chunk of time when you pick up this book, as you will not want to put this down.
Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock Rating 5 fangs
Spark is book one in the Hailey Holloway series. Book two Singe is available now.
K.C. Stewart has a real winner on her hands with this series. She has written some fantastic and authentic characters that kept me wanting more and more of them. I am glad that book two is out so I can continue the story.
Hailey Holloway is our leading lady. She is an awkward and caring lady who does not like confrontations. Hailey’s caring nature leads her to comfort a dying dragon that she stumbled upon whilst walking home. Instead of running away after seeing the unbelievable act of two dragons fighting, Hailey stays and the dying dragon’s soul is drawn into her body. What leads from there is a humorous quest to figure out how to free Hailey of the dragon’s voice inside her head.
Dacea is the dragon whose soul was taken into Hailey. His soul was previously living in his friend, but when the evil villain of the story Silas kills his host, fate shows him Hailey is his mate and her soul accepts his into her body. Dacea’s character was so well written, that even without a corporeal body, I could picture him in all his glory as a living breathing man.
Silas is our evil villain in the story. He is a sadistic dragon hungry for the power that Dacea holds. He is systematically killing off dragons and bringing upheaval to the dragon world.
Hailey’s character is a refreshing read. She is unapologetically awkward which brings much humor to the story. She teams up with witch Darby and muse Lia on this quest, which brings many escapades and adventures.
I recommend Spark to readers of paranormal romance and anyone else who enjoys a combination of romance, adventure, humor, girl power, dragons, witches and more.
OH. MY. GLOB! It’s not very often I encounter what I consider true urban fantasy, but I think K.C. Stewart may have pulled it off. Spark is an excellent start to a truly unique series. I am going to try to do this review as best I can without spoiling anything.
Okay, so, looking at the synopsis, I can talk about the dragon in her head. The book opens with our main girl hearing voices. Not just hearing voices, but having conversations with the voice. Well, not so much having a conversation as trying to shut it up. lol
The main character, Hailey, is snarky and a little self-doubting. However, she’s not a weak character by any stretch of the imagination. I found her very easy to identify with. She seems like the kind of chick you could see yourself hanging out and munching on pizza with.
Although the story opens with the dragon already in her head, the reader is not left in the dark for long as to how that occurred. Within…..maybe ten pages, you find out the story of what happened, what she encountered, that landed her with the voice in her head.
Oh!! And the dragon, Dacea. I think I am kind of in love with him. And I am sure that’s probably illegal in most of the fifty states, but you’ll understand once you read the book. You know what he is, but you get so lost in his character that you don’t really think of him in that light.
I am not going to say much more about the rest of the story. As I said, I really don’t want to blow the plot line for anyone. I can tell you that the story is very well-written and keeps you turning the pages all the way through. I dont do ratings anymore, but, if I did, Spark would get a solid 4.5 stars! I am off to burn through Singe, the second installment in the Hailey Holloway series, now. I know what I will be doing when I am supposed to be writing this weekend!

Spark, Book 1 in the Hailey Holloway Series, by K.C. Stewart is an Urban Fantasy involving many different types of creatures: humans, witches, dragons, and muses. Hailey Holloway is a twenty-four year old college graduate working as a copy editor for a travel magazine who also enjoys simplicity. Hailey has an unforgettable run in with a couple of dragons fighting, so she stops to watch, and ends up helping one of the dragons. After she helps the dragon, her body is shared with a dragon’s soul, and she is not particularly fond of the situation. Hailey soon learns of all the other creatures that exist, and that there is a war between Green and Red dragons. Hailey must determine if she is mixing up reality with fiction.
In Spark, dragons consist of four different types depending on their color, and they are known as Septs. In addition, each color has their own qualities that are unique to them. It is also interesting to note that all dragons are males; however, their Mates can be any creature. The dragons do have some commonalities such as huge tails and claws. I liked how the author went into detail regarding the characteristics of all the different dragons.
Despite some grammar issues, the story flowed well and held my attention throughout the story. I like how the story was told in multiple perspectives, which mixed things up a bit. The characters were written well, but I just found Hailey to be slightly whiny especially in the beginning. I enjoyed K.C. Stewart’s take on the different types of dragons and the unique characteristics of the dragons. Book two is suppose to be released this summer, and I am interested in seeing where the author takes the story.
I recommend Spark if you are into urban fantasy particularly dragons.
This was an amazing read, I loved it the action, the adventure, thrills, witty repartee, the characters, the setting. It was all amazingly well written, the plot was imaginative, the detail was fantastic and the pace of the story was great. I enjoyed this story a lot and look forward to finding out what will happen next for Hailey and her handsome dragon mate.
The characters and the banter between them all, oh my gods it was to die for! I was laughing so hard my eyes were watering and my husband was giving me weird looks and I definitely got emotional at parts. K.C. Stewart did an incredible job, I fell in love with her writing style and can't wait to read more from her! The magic was well done, the voice in Hailey's head was exceptional, it is what initially sucked me into the story and Dek turned out to be an amazing character as well. I absolutely loved how the dragons can transform and the politics of their race, it was all just very creative and completely entertaining.
Hailey is the most unlikely of heroines and she just surprises you again and again throughout this book. She has an amazing group that support her and help her through, though they have their own reasons and driving force they all share the same goal, to take down the evil villain, Silas! Darby a witch and Lia a Goddess and a Muse and these two amazing women are heartbroken and trying to avenge the death of their dragon mates. SERIOUSLY?!? I didn't put this book down, not once while reading it and I finished it in four hours, that is how good it is! If you enjoy a bit of magic, mystery, adventure and you like the thought of dragons still being among us you NEED to give this a read!
Haley was your average boring person. She went to work and went home she was a pushover everybody gave her their work to do at work and she did it without saying a thing. She would hide her emotions inside herself learning at an early age it did no good to show anyone what she was feeling. On her way home from work one day she walked through a park on a shortcut that she always takes, when she happened across two giant dragon dueling. She thought she was losing her mind because everyone knows dragons don't exist. As she watched the battle go on she started rooting for the red dragon because he was obviously the one with honor as the green dragon kept being being sneaky and taking cheap shots. When the red dragon fell and the green disappeared she ran out and found a man that was dying. After some crazy stuff happened Haley is now got a dragon in her head and she's on a mission to find a way to bring him back out and have his own body again fighting against all odds and the green dragon that is after them every step of the way. They fight their way to the point where they need to be but things go awry as the Green Dragon catches up with them. Will Hailey and her friends who are helping her be able to complete the ceremony to bring her red dragon out or will the Green Dragon have finally defeated them and kill them all? Is an excellent start to the series. I laughed and cried throughout the whole thing. It's a great start to the series and I recommend that everyone should read it. Stuart knows what she's talking about when she wrote this book sparked the Hailey Halloway series is one of the best series that I've read in a long while.
Well, i have to say that i loved this book. I didn't thought that i will enjoy so much. It was something. Maybe i loved it so much because it was my first book about dragons that i've ever read. Ya, shame on me, but it never caught my eye this type of books. Until now.
Fist of all, i loved it because it was unique in his story. And i like to read unique, different storys.
Second of all, i loved so much the characters and the chemistry between them. OMG, that is something nice to read. That funny, cute, sexy moments and be apart of there story. It's nice to see every step and every moment when they are more and more in to each other. They are marvelous to discover. The action goes so perfectly and so smooth; every moment and character it is right in his place. The author is not rushing the action but also it is not taking things slow. It is just perfect.
I recommend this book with all my heart and i can't wait to read the second book. P.S. I think you will fancy the bad character too. Like me!:)

Hailey Holloway stumbles upon two dragons one night. Before she realizes it she invited the soul of one into her. That soul was a red dragon named Dacea. She wakes up the next morning realizing that she can hear the dragon’s voice inside of her head. She believes herself to be crazy because of the voice. Once I picked up the book I had a hard time putting it down. The characters and the supernatural world that was created was fantastic and put together very well. The plot was well decided and well followed throughout the story. The author helps you to picture everything as you read the book. As you go into the book you learn more of the supernatural world. It helps you to learn the history and about each individual dragon by the colors that a dragon has. It helps you to understand the characters and book as you continue to read it. I absolutely loved all the characters and enjoyed how the characters developed with the story. One part that I really enjoyed was the banters between Hailey and Dacea. They made it pretty funny throughout the story. It helped you to experience the feelings they were going through. This book also had a lot of action in it. I enjoyed the outcome of the story. It also leaves you wanting more of these characters. I look forward to the next book coming out to see what happens with them. If you like supernatural romance then you should really check this book out.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
“Spark” was a good book. It was well-written and easy-to-read. The author does a great job of building the world of the paranormal. We had dragons, witches, muses, and even bigfoot is real in this world. I liked the encyclopedia of paranormal creatures that Hailey read to learn more about this new world.
I liked Hailey. She made me chuckle throughout the book. I loved the one-sided conversations she had with Dacea. I hated Hailey’s family. I also hated the way Hailey let everyone treat her like crap. I did feel that she needed to stand up for herself more and that she did grow as a person with Dak in her mind. I hated that she believed her parents at the end and doubted her own memories.
Dacea, Dak, made my heart hurt. I didn’t like the way he instantly rejected Hailey. She’s his mate, he’s supposed to love her and want her with him always. I understood his reluctance to take a mate because of his past, but it still made me want to cry. I did find it gratifying that he didn’t like it when Hailey shut him out and started calling him Dacea rather than the nickname she gave him, Dak. I really liked that part.
Lia, the muse, and Darby, the witch, had me laughing out loud. They added a great element of humor to “Spark”. They kept the tone of the book lighthearted.
Overall, this was a good book and I’d like to see where the author takes this series.
This is a funny new twist on dragon shifters. I love dragon shifter paranormal books and this one, isn't like one I have read before.
Hailey is the main female character in this book. I have to say that I love her snarky personality. She has her dorky moments, as well. But that's another reason to love her. Her comebacks had me laughing out loud throughout the story. What's not to love about a charcter that thinks she is going crazy because she has a dragon living in her head?
Decea, or Dak, as Hailey calls him, is that dragon. He came across as a stiff charcater, personality wise, at first. I did really like him also.
Darby is their little witch. And Thalia, or Lia, is the muse/goddess, of this little quartet.
Will they be able to get what they need to from Silas, the evil and demented, green dragon leader? Will Dak be able to separate from Hailey, and get his body back? There are a few little twists in this story. This is a great read, that will have you laughing and wondering what will come out of Hailey's mouth next and what will happen next. Definitely a series I will continue to read.
I really enjoyed the concept of the story- there aren't a lot of books where the main supernatural character is a dragon or the supporting supernatural character is a Muse! The world-building is fun with no one specific culture's mythological base, instead having lots of different creatures. Most of the dialogue flows really well and I definitely laughed out loud at some of Hailey's creative adjectives. It was nice that characters like Darby, Silas and Lia got to have fully formed stories and personalities rather than only Hailey and Dacea. The plot device of having Dacea only in Hailey's head really builds tension nicely, making you want him to have a body so he can use it *wink wink*
I liked Hailey's sass and wit, but I felt surprised she was able to wield it so well given that she was supposed to be so reclusive and non-confrontational.
One thing that was distracting was the editing; I found a lot of misspelled words or missing words in a sentence.
All in all, a fun read that leaves me wondering what happens next!
Poor Hailey Holloway is trying to convince herself she isn't crazy...and the decidedly male voice in her head isn't helping!
I enjoyed this debut novel from new author K.C. Stewart. Hailey finds her courage through out this book, and it is good to see. References to LOTR, everyone's favorite Time Lord, and even the Magic School Bus make this a fun, adventurous read. The ending doesn't leaving you hanging (thankfully), but still leaves you wondering what happens next, because, HELLO, still a bad guy running around!
Per the author, this book is currently in re-edits, so my initial issue with the editing is already being fixed. With that being said, I definitely would suggest this book. It is a good afternoon by the fire, or even day at the beach, type of read. I would recommend waiting until the edits are complete, though, so you can fully enjoy the story. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. Hailey is just an ordinary girl living an ordinary life until she gets stuck with a dragon named Dacea in her head. They find themselves stuck with one another, but how far will Hailey go to set him free. I really enjoyed this book. It was well paced, and funny. Anything that has dragons and mentions drop bears has to be funny. The references were great, and the characters were entertaining but sweet. I think the author did a great job with a character that doesn't have a physical body, and who for the most part you have to get to know through speech. The author also managed to pull you back from funny and into a more emotional state, and I think she did this exceptionally well. This is the first book, but didn't end with a cliff hanger per say. If you want something that will have you smiling and chuckling the whole way through this would be a good choice. I'm giving this one 5 fangs.
I received a copy of this book from the author and agreed to give my honest opinion. Hailey was walking through the park & saw two dragons fighting. One was injured and turned into a handsome man. She went to give the comfort during his death but something happened. She woke up with him in her head. After ignoring him for a while and arguing with him after that she begins to understand she's in danger and has to help free him from her mind. Dacea aka Dak is the king of the red dragons and has had his body taken from him. After a bad marriage he never wants to experience heartbreak again and closes his heat to love. Until his Mate strolls through the park and he ends up in her head. It takes him time to warm to her. Hailey was one of the funniest characters I've read in a while. Her comical comebacks kept me turnig pages. With her sidekicks Lia the Goddess Muse & Darby the witch they go on a quest to bring down Silas king of the green dragons and free Dak.
I'm a huge fan of fantasy books however usually not ones that take place in the present because they are never done right in my opinion. From the get go I was drawn in and could not stop reading. Every page turn was a squeak of anticipation and I was getting just as frustrated as some of the characters, even more so at times! I adore dragons and did not know a thing about the book until I started to read it, which I've never done before. So I'm very very happy to have read this book and will be reading it over and over again ^^
Such a unique concept and original storyline. I was so pumped when I read this books description and it didn’t disappoint. It gave enough back story to have my interested peaked without me getting lost in the details. A few times while reading this my husband gave me the people’s eyebrow as I’d randomly chuckle aloud. It really was just a light, fun, entertaining read. The chemistry and connection between the MC’s had me turning page after page, wanting more and more. Really hoping this series keeps going as I want to hear more from all of these characters.
I was given this ARC for an honest review. Okay, WOW! This book starts off really good. It continues to keep my attention throughout the whole book. I love how the author switches things up and makes things intertwine each other. I enjoyed the Dragon aspect of the story. Different from others I've read. I love the suspense and me trying to figure out what is going to happen next. I loved this book and can't wait to dive into the next book. I give this book a five-star rating. SNS Reviewer Nicole

I expected a little more. It was interesting and certainly good enough to keep me going but there was a lack of drive normally found in a great book. I didn't even feel compelled to finish. I just did because there was no good reason to quit either. Both main characters were nice but I didn't really connect with them. I didn't feel their struggle or how they felt about it or each other. I only read about it and, while it wasn't bad, it wasn't all that much either. Currently I'm not even curious about the rest of the story.
