On Friday, October 28th, near the Tri-State Corner where Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee meet, Jacob, hot from a hard day’s work on his farm, entered his house for a drink and to stand in front of a fan to cool down. No such luck. The power was out.
His wife, Anna, was at work at Sullivan Realty in Chattanooga, Tennessee, only about 8 miles away. When she didn’t come home as expected, he went to his truck to go check on her. Nothing. No phones, no TV, no radio. In the middle of nowhere.
When his long-time friend Violet and her two boys from Alabama rode up to his place on horseback (Alabama Fall 1, The Long Ride Home) and told him a story about this being an EMP and not your average local power outage, Jacob’s hopes of Anna driving home vanished.
S.M. Schuster tells an electrifying tale of Jacob’s sole focus from that To find his beloved Anna and bring her home!
Follow along as Jacob discovers the world isn’t the same as it was just a couple of days ago.
I feel like this one actually falls between 3 & 4 stars for me. But that comes down to personal preference and things that bothered me with this one won't bother others. But it was still very much worth the read.
Outstanding! I’ve been to Ruby Falls and you did a great job describing its beauty. When I was down in the caves and the tour guide turned off the lights for 60 seconds, it was just as you described the darkness. Hope there’s a 3rd book!
Too much introspection in the book for my taste. Basic story line is very good, credible, and compelling, but the constant “thought balloons” that often went into overtime slowed the pace without adding to the suspense or to the meat of the story.
...But sweet. I like the books on the October Fall series that are more about people, relationships and survival. I'm not a fan of those that are about the war and battles. So this one is much better than the last few.
