Becky has enough on her plate juggling her career and motherhood. But the words 'I'm getting married' coming out of her father's mouth are just the icing on the cake. Knowing very little of his girlfriend of two months, she's determined to stop the wedding at all costs.
Helen ended things with her ex-husband years ago, but news of his impending nuptials leaves her feeling unsettled - much to her surprise. Now she's left wondering if she made the right decision...
Mel takes her role as vicar seriously. Though, suddenly of late, she's becoming increasingly more distracted by events in her own life and preparing for a wedding is the last thing on her mind.
Wedding planner Janie only agreed to help with the wedding as a favour to her friend, but what she failed to mention was that she's just been fired. And when she meets the soon-to-be newlyweds, she quickly realises she's got her work cut out for her.
Every bride wishes for the perfect day, but with a wedding party that falls short of her dreams, it's any wonder the happy couple will make it down the aisle. Will they succeed in tying the knot, or will it all come crashing down before the first 'I Do'?
I've written six novels, including the bestselling The School Run, and The Wedding Party, which was nominated for Love Story of the Year by the Romantic Novelists Association.
If I had paid for this I’d have been so irritated. Never have I been so annoyed by every adult in a book. The way the author wrote her female characters I initially thought this book was written by an angry man who had been cheated on. And every child was a rotten spoiled brat that never was disciplined or reprimanded for their behavior. It was an exhausting book to read that I only finished because I just wanted to be done with it.
I’m glad I found this author. I’m really on a series kick, and many of these authors books were free on Amazon. I’m kind of bummed though that four of the books are free but the first one about a Mum’s life I can’t find it anywhere. I like the setting of this series. Very interested in UK and northern Europe lifestyles. I love picturing people using their walkers (different term though)and having to top up their phones which is so different from my lifestyle in the US. It’s just different learning about other cultures. As an editor, I noticed mistakes, but I didn’t want to complain because I got the book for free. They were a few spelling errors and a few conversations where one of the characters was talking to her husband, but then it was someone else’s name. I thought “how did Geoff or Steven get into this chapter because They aren’t even part of that plot. The different plot lines were sometimes fun, but also really difficult. I guess each woman had her hard things to deal with, whether it was Becky trying to work in the corporate world and be a mother, or Helen figuring out which man she wanted to be with, Janie accepting her struggles with reading and finding someone who accepted them also. Then there was Mel, the Vicar, who had so much responsibility on her shoulders and just wanted to focus on Amy. I do look forward to reading the authors books and hope they don’t have to be read in order. I just hope they aren’t all so heavy.
This is my third Sophie King book and I'm done. I started with the Houseshare, which I enjoyed. Then I read The Supper Club which I thought was populated with the most unlikable characters ever. Well, I was wrong. The Wedding Party takes that honor. I skipped multiple chapters just to see how it would end. I don't like just giving up on a book but I wouldn't have missed much had I done so with this one.
