An Intuitive Touch by Geoff McCue is an intriguing narrative that follows the journey of Sarah, a former Ph.D. professor of Pharmacy striving to develop a medication for schizophrenia.

At the beginning of the story, Sarah with her two besties Paul and Saul starts to work on the medication drug. Caden who was a guy working with Sarah helped her in experiments by bringing frogs from the black market. Caden later on left Sarah as he got a better career opportunity at Johns Hopkins University.

Adam who was snooping at Sarah’s lab got a side effect reaction from the frog secretion resulting in an unstopping laughter. Sarah was surprised and went to the Police Station where later on, she got employed as a Police Officer without training as the drug she developed had the extraordinary ability to read people’s thoughts just by touching them. This ability made her suffer as she got exposed to the darkest thoughts of suspects.

She liked a handsome fellow officer Jack but her declining state of mental health made her quit and she left the Police Force. She had a strong regret of making this drug but she started to work in the pharmaceutical field again as she reconnected with Chrissy, her old friend. He suggested a Biology Professor who recommended Sarah to discover herself to overcome her mental health issues.

Sarah was betrayed and threatened by a corporate spy who was the head of the Department of Pharmacy, Werner Klemm. But, Sarah dealt with this situation very easily as she was a former Police Officer. In the end, Sarah got invited to the Annual Global Association of Investigators Ceremony and won the "Investigator of the Year" award and an award for her agency. Sarah finally gets the fruit of her hardships for humanity.

There are a lot of surprising turns in this book that keep readers interested. It's a unique jewel that combines investigative work, emotional hardships, and scientific breakthroughs. Though it could be a little confusing for readers, I wasn't quite sure how the characters linked to one another.

Anyone who appreciates gripping stories with science and complex characters should read this book, in my opinion. You'll definitely enjoy it much more if you enjoy criminal or medical dramas.
