Very informative as an introduction. I only wish images of the artists’ work would have been included. For the new-to-me artists, I proceeded to “google” the artwork. The extra legwork helped me to solidify the newly acquired knowledge of said artists. Perhaps that was author’s intention all along.
A great primer to a plethora of surrealist artists, whom a lot were unfamiliar to me before. I would have preferred if more attention was paid to describing each artist's artistic practice and maybe a list of their most well-known works (only a handful got specific works mentioned). The book seems very intent on telling you when/to whom every artist was married, divorced, remarried....and for how long they were officially part of the surrealist group before Breton expelled them, lol.
