Andra gives to non-space, or in-between space. Plato’s concept of khôra comes to mind: an open space allowing for multiplicity, change and difference - alterity and alteration - it is concrete but also abyssal.
In many of Andra’s houses, whether inside or outside, there can be found undefined spaces whose function does not bear a traditional room designation such as “living room”, or “bedroom “. Breaking through such conventions reflects a particularly astute understanding of human nature: that we need space to better discover ourselves where no prescribed role or function is given.
