American Suzuki violin pioneer John Kendall's recollections of events in his life and career. 130 page softcover book with over 50 photographs. The appropriateness of ‘peripatetic pedagogue’ to describe his career can best be understood by glancing at the maps in the endpapers of this book, where his travels, both national and international, are recorded.
As someone very connected to SIUE- and thus to Mr Kendall- I can’t help but love this book! He is known for his work with Suzuki but he had such an interesting and worthwhile to hear about life before he even met Suzuki. After Suzuki- we can definitely say the string teaching world of the US was forever changed by Mr Kendall. We Suzuki teachers, students, and families owe so much to him, and those of us related to SIUE still appreciate his legacy there.
