The Omega Trials #1

The Omega Trials: Part I

Rate this book
In Cape Aurelia, everything begins and ends with the Echelon—a dismantled aristocracy reborn in the shadows—as powerful as they are secret.

After generations of loss and suffering, three alphas from the exiled Cerulean family are fighting for reentry into the Echelon’s clandestine ranks by competing in the Trials, a set of five deadly tests.

Before they can begin, each pack is supposed to be gifted a noble omega.

Instead, the Ceruleans get me.

Pulled from a brothel, I’m forced into the Trials at threat to my family.

I’m not a noble. I’m not even an omega. My very presence is an insult, and they don’t hesitate to remind me.

If they're determined to shackle me, I will become their reckoning.

She’s not just beautiful; she’s a fucking masterpiece.

5/5 4/5 🌶️

When Summer announced an omegaverse book, I knew it was going to be good! But the word “good” cannot describe how much fun this book was! Now… when I say I would die for “enemies-to-lovers” this ... this book is exactly what I mean. Sinclair and the boys take that trope very, very seriously!!!

If you love omegaverse, this book is it! Summer did the trope so good! I cannot wait to dive into the next parts because that cliffhanger left me dazzled!

Sinclair is a f*cking badass of an fmc! She raised hell on them, for every inch they took of her, she made them suffer. And that's what I love in fmcs of bully and enemies-to-lovers romances.

And the boys…oops sorry Alphas, were just insufferably perfect! You have Bishop, who was hot and gentle, just perfection! Ecker, a very wicked angel, heavenly sinful. And then my favorite! The most arrogant, hotheaded of all, who I will literally fall to my knees for… Titus. Why do I always go for the most insufferable in the RHs?!

Now the story is not finished, but the chemistry is already sizzling, like an ever-pulling magnet, which is exactly perfect for omegaverse. I loved the plot and the smut was … on another level incredible. Can't wait for the next parts!!!

Did I like it? Loved it!
Would I reread it? Yes.

To no one’s shock or surprise, I devoured this book. I really love Summer’s writing and I’m such a höe for omegaverse. Ya know what I’m also a höe for? Dark romance and bülly romance. To say I’ve been salivating waiting for this book would be an understatement.

Summer gives us a different take on the world of alphas and omegas in The Omega Trials. Learning the ins and outs of the Echelon and this new world was so much fun! Sinclair is a baddie through and through. There’s nothing that can keep her down - though everyone sure as hell tries to. Bishop, Titus, and Ecker are all unique and I love them - even when I hate them!

I can’t wait to see how things unfold as this series continues!

“It feels like-“ “Everything. It feels like fucking everything.”

did i know what the fuck was going on at any point? absolutely not. was it like 80% smut? yes and i ate it up regardless! i really need titus and sinclair to be cool though because that last part was too sad and it genuinely made me a little upset for poor ti, even after everything he did🥲

also this reminded me of the Lords of Forsyth, their personalities were all pretty similar to tristain killian and dimitri which slightly bothered me the whole time but only because i couldnt unthink the comparison once i thought of it 🫠

😬😬😬

This was a short read and the premise was there, I just was not a fan of the execution which was a shame because I saw dark omegaverse and was so excited to read this book.

Sinclair (FMC) has found herself in a situation which requires her to be in indentured servitude while Titus (MMC), Ecker (MMC) and Bishop (MMC) are fighting to be accepted back into the Echelon as is their birth right. They only ever had each other and while they're not related, they’re like brothers. Given that, I HATED!!!! the way Sinclair so easily caused a rift between the guys. It sounded like they had plans and tried really hard to make ends meet and be where they are today and the fact that she could so easily create problems between their unit pissed me off because it didn't seem to track.

There is little world building in this which doesn't work with what is actually going on. I'm sure there will be more explanation in the subsequent books but I feel like more could have been used in this one.

The author lets us know that the characters are irredeemable which is mostly true, they rape her on page and they are all, Sinclair included, fuelled by their alpha / omega instincts so while SHE doesn't want it, the omega in her does. I hated the way omegaverse worked in this book which is probably one of the main drivers as to why I didn't like this. I didn't like how she went into heat basically anytime they were fucking her; it felt like heat was synonymous with just being extremely horny as opposed to being an extended period of time where she needs to be attended to by her alphas fuelled by her biology. Similar to the alphas being in rut, it was again synonymous with them just being horny. And it was happening allllll the time. No grovelling, no actually getting to know each other or just civilly communicating - most of the book happens while the characters aren't in the right mind and are being driven by their rut / heat and it got boring very quickly; I genuinely just wanted them to talk to each other, lol.

Haven't decided if I'll read the next one but if it's < 300 pages, maybe 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m utterly obsessed! This has officially become my new favorite omegaverse book.

If you loved The Ritual by Shantel Tessier, then you will absolutely devour this book! Just like The Ritual, it is a bully romance, it is filled with a bunch of smut scenes, and it features a secret society. However, the difference is that this book is also a reverse harem and an omegaverse! 😍

Our three main guys are possessive and dominant alphas that are solely focused on winning The Omega Trials. However, their focus gets diverted when they are given an omega (aka Sinclair) that doesn’t want to submit. Sinclair is a fiery omega that gives the three guys hell. I absolutely love the way she defends herself against the guys.

Can we talk about the smut scenes?!?!?! 😱🥵😩😍 I cannot get over them! I won’t say much but just know they are the hottest thing in this entire damn world!

One last thing…the damn cliffhanger 😭 I want more! I can’t believe the book ended the way it did. I was so immersed into this world that I didn’t expect to end when it did. I’m in desperate need for part 2…more desperate than Sinclair is for 🍆😂

Thank you so much Summer O’Toole for sending me an ARC of this book. I cannot tell you much I loved this book! I will be “patiently” waiting for part 2 🥰😫

The Omega Trials is moving on up to my top reads this year. If I didn’t start this later in the evening I would have finished it in one sitting. I was instantly hooked from the beginning. The glossary in the beginning was so very helpful and I appreciated having that before diving in. I also LOVE how you incorporated the playlist and guided the reader through every chapter in what song to listen to or switch to, it was such a cool experience.

Now on to the story…. I was immediately in love with Sinclair from her first chapter. She’s such a firey, take no shit, snarky FMC and I’m here for it. I’m usually the one who loves the grumpy MMC who fights it the whole time but Bishop won me over right away (can’t go wrong with man bun and a septum piercing) and Eckers mouth… 🥵. Now we just need Ti to stop fighting it cause I can’t wait to see his soft side come out ( thanks for teasing in Chapter 27…)
You had me all emotional in chapter 29 and then of course had to end on a cliffhanger 😭 I can’t wait to dive more into the secret trials and the inner workings of the Echleon because I know you have to have some twists and turns coming.

“If we’re not careful, she will become the center of our world. Our sun, our moon, even gravity itself.”

So this was a very interesting read for me. This is my second time reading an Omegaverse book and I was pretty confused, but it all came together quickly. I do love how Summer puts a glossary in the beginning to help explain everything. So that was a huge plus!!

Sinclair is such a badass FMC who gives as good as she gets. She loves to give the alphas hell even though she knows there will be consequences. As for the alphas… whew! 🥵 Bishop, Ecker and Titus are three broody men that have such different personalities but they are super close and have each other’s backs no matter what. The journey through this book will no doubt have you on your seat waiting for more. **Check TW**

Summer's writing, once again, draws you in. It's so easy to read her work and get lost in the characters. Her MMCs are broody and moody with the filthiest mouths and her FMC is of the don't-take-no-shit variety. This was gritty and dark and so spicy. It had me snorting in some places at the sass and come backs. A cliffy was expected (since it's the first in a trilogy) but it still gutted me all the same when it came. This was my first omegaverse but the boys are delicious and Sinclair is so stubborn and headstrong and I loved the start of their story. Can't wait for Part II 🤌🏻

This book was HORRIBLE I have never written a review before this one. They rape her and she “enjoys” it not because her body said so even though she screamed through most of it. And after the they made her lick spit on the floor and raped her once again. The men in this book use her as a wet hole. Threatening her constantly. She continues to say she doesn’t want to have sex but her body wants it. Which is apparently a yes. The women in this book are treated like sex slaves. Like pieces of property. It’s disgusting. Oh and at one point he strangles her she only stay alive because the trials start… how romantic. To punish her they beat her and once again rape her. Knowing that she doesn’t like the dick in her mouth he goes deeper. They go on to say I like it better when you don’t talk and then pass her around with spit dripping down her chin and tears down her cheeks. After this they chain her down and rape her again. Saying that they own her. They also loved calling her a whore. This book set women back 1000 years. The last chapters did not make up for all the horrible things in this book.

If Summer writes it, I'm going to read it. And you should too. The Fox brothers were amazing and now we get to meet the broodiest, sexiest alpha's and the funniest and strongest omega (Sinclair I want to be friends with you).

Sinclair is ripped from her home for a debt her absent mother left her, and she ends up sold to the Echelon, an underground and secret organization. She ends up with the Cerulean pack, who finally get the chance to re-enter the organization after four generations of being exiled. But what happens when they find out who Sinclair really is? And will the guys succeed in surviving the trials but also keeping the family together?

It's an art to put so much action, spice and plot in a short book. It's book 1 of 3 but even then, I was obsessed from the very first page. You get action from the beginning and it's fast paced and that's how I like it. I loved the characters. Sinclair is so funny and strong and stubborn. She's just trying to survive the circumstances that were forced on her and she does it in a spectacular way. I can't choose a favorite out of the guys. It changes every chapter. I have BIG expectations for Titus, because he is broody and grumpy perfection and those kinds of characters always get me. I loved Bishop as well, I could feel his connection with Sinclair in my soul. And Ecker; that man could step on me and I'd thank him. They're all perfect. And yes this book is dark so you won't like everything they do but I could clearly see the character development in all of them and it's only going to get better. The cliffy is brutal, yes, but part two is coming in a few months so IT'S OKAY. IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY. And as always with Summer, the spice was UN-FUCKING-REAL. If there's one thing Summer does perfectly, it's dirty talk. I'm always blown away and this book was no exception.

ARC via the Author.

I've never read Omegaverse before and this was Summer's first time writing it so I think we took a strong step into the subgenre together.

This book is brutal, but Sinclair is the kind of feisty heroine that I cheer for, even when her actions hurt the heroes. There's a lot of lore and history in this world, some of it Sinclair knows and some of it that's known by the Alphas who are given her - Titus, Ecker, and Bishop. She has a different dynamic with each of them, mostly violent, sarcastic, and defiant, but there's a thin line between love, hate, and it all gets murkier with lust. You will end up loving the Alphas, or at least grudgingly acknowledging their hotness.

The trials the Alphas and their new Omega go through are part of a test to join a ruling group called the Echelon. Generations ago, their pack the Ceruleans, were removed from the Echelon for a transgression tied to Sinclair's family history. We only get hints of this and it will be revealed during the next two books, but this kind of thing is one of my favorite plots. We're talking generational drama and secrets and I am here for a century worth of tea-spilling as the trilogy continues.

No joke though - the nature of Omegaverse makes consent murky and at times non-existent, even if things are resolved and forgiven eventually. If that's not your thing, if non-con and pain will be triggering for you then THIS is not for you. Even if you've read Summer's other books before, this is different.

Let me start by saying this book is dark and deals with some heavy stuff, so check your trigger warnings.

I have dabbled in books that had omega verse elements before but I haven’t read anything quite like this and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself.

Learning about this Echelon society was definitely a highlight. And, I’m certain from the information revealed in this book, the other books will delve deeper into this secret society.

I loved Sinclair and this girl backs down to no one. I also loved that she challenges Ecker, Bishop, and Titus. Time and time again Sinclair is dealt a crappy hand and every time she proves that she has a warrior spirit. These men are brutal and it was hard at times to see how badly they treated Sinclair. I am loving the natural progression on how relationships and dynamics are changing within the group and can’t wait to see where this story goes. This does end on a cliffhanger so do prepare yourself.

4.5 Stars. Damn! This was everything I've been wanting from an Omegaverse book! It was dark in all the right ways (for me) and yet didn't go into being over-the-top gross violent abuse. This author didn't pull any punches, but neither did she give in to making a sadistic gorefest. There was a gratuitous amount of smut, but underneath that an interesting story line that kept me reading. The h is a good blend of submissive and defiant. The H's all have their own personalities and charm, but I read another review where they said the characters reminded them of Lord's of Forsyth and she's right, when you start thinking about it, you can't stop thinking that! 😂 However, this probably made me enjoy the book more not less because Lord's is my gold standard for RH and some things about this series even appeal to me more. I would have liked a little more character building for the guys, but there was a decent amount and I'm hoping we see more throughout the series. Definitely jumping right into the next one, I can't be just hanging around with that cliffy!

This is the most fucked up dark omegaverse I’ve ever read and that says a lot looking at my reading material. It’s so dark, like Sinclair’s circumstances manage to make you as a reader feel unsafe. She’s got so much fire though, like if you strike a match around her you’re the one that ends up exploding. I understood where the alphas were coming from, why they behaved in the assholey way they did, but Sinclair was right to put them in their place - although I did sometimes feel bad for them. I actually really liked Sinclair as a character, she’s amazing. The alphas grew throughout the book and I loved seeing it, but they still have long ways to go. I’m so ready for more tension, more badassery, more character growth and more reminding myself to breathe in book two!

Tor*ure porn🚫 DNF 26% (& my opinion, it seems like im the minority)

Want to see a woman omega be treated like pure shit by everyone in this book? Well, here you go, guys! Buckle up!

___

She's very smart-mouthed with weak physical attributes that don't make up for that mouth.

She was suddenly kidnapped by Alpha Traffickers because her mom died, and she needed to pay off her mom debt. So after 2 months of being in a wh*re house, she gets sold to a pack of sadistic, 'hide ya kids, hide ya wife, and hide ya stuff', rap*st men.

They brutally r*pe her cause of this fucked up Secret Society Ritual they needed to attend while branding her on her chest like shes an abus*d cow.

She is seen as an object. I'm pretty sure f*ck dolls get more respect than her. Smdh🤦🏾‍♀️
_____

The men are completely blackened and don't give AF. Nothing about them is likable. Usually, in an enemies to lovers RH book, there should be at least 1 person that might go against some beliefs of their fellow peers. That's the reason why I wanted to read this book, thinking it will have that type of balance. I love my dark romances and my omega verse. But nope, not in this book!

They laughed straight in her face and used her 'body betrayal' as an omega to control her. And r*pe her! And now she's licking her own spit off the floor after being physically ass*ulted... Hello!🤦🏾‍♀️
_____

I stopped before I got even more pissed off.

The only groveling that will make up for this is if she gave them a slow death in a dungeon for them to become submissive and broken. Because I don't see how tf they gonna make up for that.

Can there at least be one likable character? The FL is not giving and honestly makes my ass itch. Since this is HEA guaranteed, I'm pretty sure she will stay with these men like a fool. Stockholm Sydrome might be on the phone!

Would not recommend.

The only good thing I enjoyed was the playlist the author had.⚠️ Smdh

“You’re an omega. You were made to be broken.” “And we were made to break.”

Anything Summer writes 🤝 Me. I love dark romance and Summer NEVER fails me. This SMUTTY alpha and omega dynamic was exactly the book I needed to get out of a reading slump. This is how you write a bully romance!

Sinclair’s the one with the feisty attitude. Bishop has a big heart inside his hard exterior. Ecker is the golden retriever f*ck boy & Titus is the bad boy who doesn’t give any F*cks… unless you fuck with his brothers and then he got tons. The alphas did their best to break her but she gives it right back, tenfold. We love a strong FMC.

The playlist is perfectly paired with each scene. The footnotes indicating when to start and stop each song is genius and one of my favourite things about Summer’s books. I’ve been HOOKED since I first read Make Me.

Now, when can I get my hands on part two because I NEED TO know what happens after that cliffhanger 😅

❗️As always, check your trigger warnings and read the glossary if you’re new to the omegaverse❗️

✨ARC Review✨

When Summer announced that her next series was going to be omegaverse I screamed for joy. Summer absolutely ATE with her mafia series and I had a feeling that Summer would absolutely smash omegaverse and from only reading part one, I can guarantee that is absolutely the case.

Now first things first this book is dark, so please, please read the triggers at the beginning of the book because your mental health matters🖤

This book follows Sinclair who is taken from her grandmother to repay her mother’s debt, yep she had to repay a debt her mother created since her mother decided to depart from the world of the living. Sinclair ends up working at a brothel as a waitress and this is how she meets our MMCs Titus, Bishop and Ecker. She is basically sold to them as they need an omega for the omega trials. Now the thing you should know about Sinclair is that she suppresses her designation as an omega and this aspect of her doesn’t emerge until it is basically forced to.

Now I want to keep this book entirely spoiler free as I don’t want to ruin the reading experience, but this book honestly I couldn’t put it down.. I mean look at the tropes:
- Dark Omegaverse
- Why Choose Romance
- Enemies to Lovers
- Found Family
- Black Cat FMC
- I’d unalive for her but that doesn’t mean I like her..
- Secret society

Now this book does end on a cliffhanger, and yes Summer I need at least a day to recover after that cliffhanger or if you want to speed up my recovery you can just you know give us book 2😂👀

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts and I cannot wait to dive in to more of Sinclair, Bishop, Ecker and Titus’ story in part two and three in the coming months🫶🏼

Thank you summer for the arc!!!

I sat on this before reviewing it and rating it to gather my thoughts and I have not stopped thinking about it 😂😭😍 I’m absolutely obsessed and already want to reread it. I am not ready for them to end, I know we still have more books coming considering that CLIFF HANGER!!! But I know it’ll end eventually and I can’t handle that.

The multiple POVs helped propel the story along in a fast paced manner but didn’t make it feel too rushed. We have our three alpha males Bishop, Titus, and Ecker were outcasted from the Echelon family, well the Cerulean family name was outcasted which, Bishop, Titus and Ecker are. They are fighting their way back in, tooth and nail to be honest - earning enough money they to bid on an Omega for the trials they end up with an unexpected gift… Sinclair lives away from the Echelon world, after her ancestors fled - her mother ends up owing some debt and after passing that debt was also passed along.. to Sinclair, which ends up getting her taken to an omega house - where she endures some absolutely terrible treatment. However, Sinclair is the toughest bitch there was. I was screaming, sweating, hyperventilating- the tension, the sexual frustration they all had, everything. So good. So hot. So everything. I loved it I love them.

I could really go on and on about this, and how Sinclair HURT HERSELF to avoid someone else doing it. Screaming at her badassery. The boys are such alpha assholes, but wow I loved it. The banter or outright bickering and fighting between the 4 of them made it. Eckler and Bishop’s protectiveness of Sinclair once they gave in ❤️‍🔥🥵 wowow I can’t wait for Titus to give in but I’m thinking that won’t be for a while so I’m along for the ride 😏

What to expect:
😈 Dark (check TW)
💀 Touch Her and D!e (but I don’t necessarily like her)

❤️‍🔥 Open Door (and SPICY)

Summer's last series was very hit and miss for me but this one? Whew! It has come out with a strong start.

First, can we talk about the character art in the beginning of each chapter? What a brilliant addition to the story! I read and fancast at the same time, so when I have art that can help me further visualize characters and the world I absolutely bow down to the author! Second, the story. It moves at a great pace and the character names? Absolutely in love with every single one.

I'm not a huge OV fan. Most of them are really miss and not so much hit, but this one really kept me intrigued and I lovelovelove the cliffhanger ending. It is keeping me on the edge of me seat and I'm itching to pick up Part 2, which is coming soon!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

”I don’t hate you. I hate that I can’t fucking breathe around you.”

This was my second ever omegaverse book so I was so happy to read a new one from Summer. I’m pretty much obsessed with Sinclair, Bishop, Ecker, and Titus. They all have such unique personalities and love how they’re banding together in their pack as the story progresses. While this does start primarily as a bully romance, there are some really sweet moments between Sinclair and the guys so don’t stress TOO much about that. The spicy scenes arw 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️👀🥵🥵🥵🥵 off the charts hot, loving it!!! There’s cool world building going on in the background with the Trials and I am very curious to learn more about the corrupt Echelon. And holy crap, that ending!! I need the next book!

Well that was a deliciously sinful read. Titus, Bishop and Ecker are a found family. Their familes have been exiled from the Echelon society for the last three generations and can finally petition to become part of the society once more. However they first need to pass a series of tests along with their omega Sinclair.

🥀 Why Choose
🥀 Fight Club
🥀 Deadly Trials
🥀 Enemies to Lovers
🥀 Dark Omega-Verse
🥀 Alphas and Omegas
🥀 Found Family

Titus is so stubborn and his own worse enemy. Man does he hold a grudge. Bishop is definitely the sweetest of three and I feel like Ecker is just along for the ride.

I need to know more about Sinclairs past and the game she is playing.

This book was an interesting one. I did enjoy it overall and I will continue with this series to see where it goes. I do feel like this book could have benefited from being a bit longer but I am aware that this is only book one in a multi-book series, so I won't really hold that against it. I will say that I don't know if this was a me issue or if it was purposeful but there were multiple times in the book where I didn't really know what was happening nor did I know why it was happening. We were thrown into this world and given so much information and plot at once but none of it was really explained or revealed in detail, so I hope we get more understanding as the series progresses.
