This book comes highly recommended, for businesses of any size, with or without the workbook. Practical advice, given in a logical, straightforward way.
In Liber8 your Business, the author aims to help small business owners create not a lifelong job, but a business. By this, Humphreys means a business that can either be sold for significant value or a business that will help you generate passive wealth.
Humphreys offers a great deal of advice on how to have a master plan in which you will be able to create such a business. I appreciated her ideas on first completely understanding your goals for your business, both in terms of the actual business and where you want it to ultimately take you. By creating a complete vision, you can then work backwards to figure out exactly what you need to do in order to achieve your vision. I really liked the additional workbook that helped direct you to creating your vision and creating a solid plan. I think that this book and workbook could definitely help small business owners realize exactly what they are trying to achieve and how to do it.
Liber8 Your Business has great practical advice for business owners. Some of the concepts are hard for me to wrap my mind around, but I can see why they’re important to successfully run your business. For example, one of her big points, “you are not your business!” explains that you shouldn’t be the sole reason why your business is able to exist; you should be able to take yourself out of the equation and it should be able to run itself. This will take time obviously, but should ultimately be your goal. This concept makes a lot of sense but I feel like I’m going to have to go back and work through the book a couple times before I can change to that mindset. This book will definitely stay close at hand so that I’ll be able to refer back to it for years to come.
I really like this book’s method for creating a stronger small business by thoughtfully creating a complete idea of what you want your business to be in the end. The author walks you through how to have a better understanding of what your big goals should be, and then helps you break down the best path of getting there. Considering how many small businesses fail, having a strong business plan is essential, and I think that this author outlines a great way to make a real plan. I liked that book included a workbook to help you thoughtfully approach planning for your business.
This book is great for those who are serious about starting his or her own business, or for those who already own a business. I also recevied the workbook that goes with this book. It's a great tool that takes you through the eight important steps of a successful business.
