This is cute and beautiful part where your blogger Alice says: These books really surprised me!
Well, if you have followed the blog know that will most likely (very noticeable) I love the paranormal genre. When I was reading the sinospsis of the 2 books Jumpers Shadow saga, I was attracted, perhaps more at this time. So I decided to read these books and do not regret.
Angela Brown creates a different interpretation of the afterlife, I like when authors take risks and create their own interpretations. Recall that the books also give us that advantage, explore more there.
Well, starting with Neverlove, first book of the series, I always fixed on the main characters, as it is they who will lead us on this journey of adventure, different worlds and stuff. In this part we will know the stories of Abigail and Basil.
Abigail in the first pages I was surprised, his life, and his suicide. To then turn around and a second opportunity is there, And of course, this second chance comes with everything and decisions including love.
Basil, he also has something to say, he was not happy with his life and has a second chance very different from Abigail.
Abigail and Basil have one goal in common: the souls. But in different ways. And those paths will cross with something unplanned: love. But there will be more and some other character you’ll want to keep that love.
This brings us to the 2nd book in the series Shadow Jumpers, They All Fall Down.
“Love can conquer all” is put to the test and salvation may be impossible when they all fall down… In this book, the things will get interesting!
We know many more things, emotions are more intense and sincerely want to continue reading, reading and keep reading.Your reading will flow through the well written materials. It has the well-defined characters and, yes, there is a villain in the story! I really recommend these books, if you have a chance to read these days, do it! and if not, too.

They All Fall Down picks up with Abby and Basil, along with Lisel, creating a life away from the battle between Cleansers and Harvesters. But Q, formerly Father Quanon, Abby's mentor, has other ideas. His love for Abby has become something twisted under the influence of the Devourer and he'll stop at nothing to make her his. His only obstacle: Basil. Will Abby and Basil be able to find their way back to each other with the Devil trying to keep them apart?
Since this is a novella, it was much more condensed than Neverlove, the first in the series (check out my review here!). In a lot of ways that made me enjoy it even more. It packs a punch and there are less lulls than in the first book: we have constant action, a lot of heart, and a fast pace that matched up with the characters' intentions perfectly. For what goes on, the length felt, to me, perfect.
Seeing Abby and Basil's relationship progress was one of the other really enjoyable aspects. Their love for each other is incredibly strong. The love of many lifetimes, as we know. But now they transition from a relationship that had really barely begun in Neverlove to something established that undergoes trials and strain as a result of the fallout of their quest to save each other and Father Quanon's decision.
Which brings us to Q. He was by far one of the most interesting, and at times even confusing, aspects of the book. It's obvious that some part of Father Quanon is present in Q, but just how much? Is that going to come into play later? The Father certainly wasn't portrayed as a pushover and I was almost disappointed how quickly the Devourer's essence seemed to overtake him. I often hoped for a comeback where he could start to regain control of himself. I'll definitely be interested to see how it plays out.
They All Fall Down was an action-packed, love-conquers-all, feel-good adventure that'll have paranormal romance fans excited for more!
I thought that the prequel, Neverlove, deserved a 2.5 but this one gets the entire 3 stars. The Good: the action sequences were exciting, character motivations, while sometimes stupid/sappy (as people often are) were clearly drawn and made sense within the context of the story. I like that there are no unflawed characters here. The prose is cleanly written and my internal editor mostly stayed in the off position. The Bad: The characterization, as with the previous book, was shallow. These characters werent well fleshed out. Their pasts don't !much exist and beyond one another they seem not to have much of a life. I had a difficult time caring about anyone beyond the protagonists and them only because I've been with them for two books now. I have a difficult time visualizing some of these characters and places. Plainly there is just not enough depth. The Ugly: So... yeah I get that this is a romance, or a paranormal with romance. Doesn't matter how you put it. Romance isn't my cuppa. As with much romance the crap happens at the wrong moments. You can't be standing in hell arguing with the devil thinking about cuddling with your boyfriend. Really? Bad timing. Just wrong. And as with similar books, these people seem to let their love take them to the edge of insanity and back before coming to their senses. All of the turmoil in this book between Abby and Basil could have been avoided had one or the other stopped trying to prove their love, protect their love, save their love. I mean just communicate, take the tongue lashing, and build some solid trust here people and the DEVIL won't be able to screw you up. So if I don't like romance, why read it? I am trying to broaden my reading scope. And while the complained much, I wouldn't have finished this book had I not thought it had strength and merit. This book missed lots of opportunities to be really good. I mean it had a couple of diverse protags, a unique storyline, magic, shadow jumping, conflict, right vs. wrong, twists turns and surprises. This book has a lot good going for it.
This book was so fast. I mean, from the beginning until the end I was glued to the e-book, I couldn’t leave it. The whole book was full of suspense and the characters were so engaged in their lives and facts, and me-you-him telling the story made it more dinamic.
The good and the bad aren’t anymore so separated and when you need to do something to proctect someone or yourself your good can be another bad. Every character is good and bad, no one make something that doesn;t leave consequences and some choices left me surprised. Every character change, comparative with the first book, some of them die, some of them become bad, some of them become more mature. I think Abby is the one who doesn;t change too much and maybe if she haven;t trust some people so easily the whole thing was different.
Some of her actions make me question if she analyze things or just do or say everything right then. She jump to conclusions, hurting people, saying everything she thinks even she;s not sure, or even that thing doesn;t fit. When she just met that guy and she have so much trust in him…rlly? I mean you judged Basil and then you do that…so mature.
The war, let’s name it like that, between the academy and the hell, or between Abby, Basil and the other good people versus Q and other „monsters”, was well descripted. I liked that the line between light and dark was not clearly marked, that everyone did something cause it needed or she/he thought it was right. And how Q changed… rlly that I wasn;t expecting and somehow made me sad, he was a nice person. But that dark is there, everywhere and even in a soul’s person.
It was a good book, better than the first, and I really liked how the things went. So, if you want to read something with demons and angels and spells, love and friendship you can check it out.
Lets start with the cover, three words... hot, hot, hot! I really loved the cover of this book, it makes me want to know who these two are. I love how the man on the cover looks almost vunerable and like the woman is in control of the situation. That alone made me want to learn more.
I read the book as a stand-alone, I have not had a chance to read the first book Neverlove, and for They All Fall Down to be a novella, this book stood its ground very strong. I was not lost trying to piece together what on earth is going on. I love that in a book, when you can grab it at any level of a series and read it without information of the previous books. Of course because it is a novella, some questions I had were not answered, BUT my questions did not hinder the storyline or rather me understanding the story-line.
From the jump, author Angela Brown made the book was interesting, she peaked my interests on the characters and really makes me excited to read Neverlove to learn even more about these characters as well as look forward to her upcoming books to see how Basil and Abby grow and what is to come in their world. And of course, Q has peaked an interest.
Author Brown was able to make me really hold my interests wondering what was going to happen, she packed a lot of action in the novella which kept me turning those pages to find out more, and honestly sad when it was over.
I do have one hope about the series, and that is, that I hope the current story line or Q's end goal takes a dramatic twist of some sorts. I say this because I am currently reading two series already with a story line very similar and I feel like this story of Basil, Q and Abby can be something spectacular! Even if author Brown doesn't change things up, it will still be a fun read. All in all the series is very promising, the novella was a fun quick read. I would defiantly recommend to put this on your "to read" lists.
Favorite Quote: Q laughed. Actually laughed so hard he doubled over. “Please, I have more Harvestors now than ever. I don’t need a traitorous love-sick whelp like him. I’d take that as an insult if you weren’t so delectable when you’re angry.” “My shoulders, they’re both dislocated,” she said through clenched teeth. Having helped his father several times because his shoulder always slipped out of its socket, Basil knew what to do. “It’s going to hurt, Abby. Just try not to curse me out in the process, if you can help it.” Abby opened her eyes. They shined with fresh tears. “What of the fall of mankind? Shouldn’t we worry about that?” “We will. Sooner than we want, I’m certain of it. But mankind won’t go down without a fight. We’ll be there, together, kicking ass and taking names.” He lifted her hand to his, twining his fingers with hers. “This very moment, all I care about is making up for hurting you, for causing you any pain, to beg your forgiveness and kiss every inch of your skin until you ache no more.
This book was given to me for an honest review. This is the second book in the series. This was better than the first one. It was heart-wrenching story that made you feel as if you were there with them. It is a great series. Cannot wait for the next one…. Abby and Basil continue to fight against evil aka the Devil aka Q. In this story Q does everything in his power to destroy Abby and Basil. He uses Wade who I am sorry to see go or does he, and Abby’s friend Tegra to bring Abby to him to make her is own. Q wants it all Abby and the world. Will he win? Will Basil be in time to save Abby? Or will Abby become Q’s forever? Will Basil and Abby be able to save Tegra? Or is it too late?
I said in my review of the first book in this series, Neverlove, that I wasn’t completely excited about it. I gave it 4 stars on Amazon and Goodreads though because it was a good solid well written read.
Then I had the second book to read.
This one I really really liked. There was more action, there was more detail, there was more, how do you type mmmppphhh. There was more of that. There was sex in this one, which was the one scene I was referencing in my other review about being on the line with letting my own almost 15 year old son read. The further I got into it, the more I enjoyed it, and the more I agreed that this one is definitely new adult, not young adult.
This one to me just feels deeper. We got more into what Ella and Basil were thinking and feeling. I’m a little upset about Wade and his ….. ending role in the story, but you know, there’s got to be a character like that in every book. In this book we have the good Father who is now the devil (or the Devourer). He’s a bit twisted.
This is one of those reviews that you have to be careful with your wording on. There is a lot going on, people going to this side or that side, intentionally or unintentionally, and I don’t want to give any spoilers at all. I will just say that I personally enjoyed this one, I was able to “connect” more with this one, and I am now looking forward to the next one. There has to be a next one. I want to know what is going to happen with a few people from this series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

They All Fall Down is a great successor to Angela Brown's Neverlove. The story continues smoothly, where the first book ended.
I have to say I totally love Angela Brown's Shadow Jumper series, but I was a little bit disappointed in Abby this time. Q, who is now the new devil and this time he is really completely evil, attempts to destroy Abby's and Basil's relationship, while Basil is kind of kidnapped. However instead of trusting Basil and maybe thinking a little bit, Abby decides to believe Q's lies. That's sooo disappointing :(!! She should have know better, Basil would never kiss someone else, but her! Well.. He did, but it had a purpose and at least to me it was clear right from the start: Basil is still craving souls! But Abby simply failed to see it and just got angry. In my opinion that made her kind of look stupid...
It's kind of hard to express why exactly I liked this book, but I definitely enjoyed reading it a lot. Basil and Abby are just so cute.(even though Abby is a little bit dumb this time lol) Also there are a lot of exciting things happening, no one would have guessed.(I don't want to spoil here though!) So I recommend They All Fall Down to everyone, who loved reading Neverlove. And to those who might be curious now, but didn't read Neverlove yet: Start reading Book 1!
Abigail Bishop is a Cleanser or a non practicing one. Her job was to fight Harvesters for lost souls using fire and holy water. Basil Hines was a Harvester who became Abigail’s boyfriend. Together they have formed a partnership and love which they never want to lose.
They All Fall Down is the follow up book to Angela Brown’s Neverlove where Abby and Basil were first introduced. This is not a stand alone book; you have to read Neverlove in order to know who all the characters are in They All Fall Down. I made the mistake of picking up They All Fall Down first and was totally confused, so if you want to get the full experience read Neverlove first.
They All Fall Down is a paranormal fantasy story about Cleansers, Harvesters, good against evil, light against dark. If you love reading paranormal fantasies then this series is for you. The story moves slower than the first book, a few more characters are introduced and it takes up where Neverlove left off. Basil and Abby face more challenges especially one that comes from a once trusted mentor who has now slowly gone over to the dark side.
I enjoyed how the characters interacted with each other and the other characters in the story. Angela Brown’s style of writing is smooth and she takes you on a journey into a world where the things that go bump in the night are very real. I would recommend this series because I believe that you would get as much enjoyment out of reading these books as I did.
Review to come for tour! ************* THEY ALL FALL DOWN picks up where NEVERLOVE left off. Like all relationships, there is still a bit of rockiness between Abby & Basil, a few trust issues orchestrated and developed by Q, the new Devil/Devourer and his minions.
You can totally sympathize with Abby and her doubts, especially when she's shown "irrefutable" proof after she finally is able to be with Basil physically, an impressive feat given her past sexual abuse. You'd think she'd still shy away, but she is so sure of her love for Basil and his for her until...she's not. ARGH! No, Abby! Continue trusting him!
Again, I wanted more with Lisel; more history, more details on friendship with Basil & Abby, history between him and Q, etc. And then...he mentions something called the N.E.O.... well, having fallen hard for these books, I went to Amazon and LOW AND BEHOLD, Ms Brown has stories about the NEO! WOOOOO!
Ahem. Got sidetracked.
As the story develops in this novel, we learn about the 4 seals and how Q plans to orchestrate The Fall. Wonderful follow up to THEY ALL FALL DOWN which leaves you the reader wanting more in this story! Smooth-flowing writing, wonderful action sequences again, this book rolls just as quickly as the first. I definitely want more Shadow Jumpers.
Unfortunately, I did not read Neverlove before They All Fall Down, and though I feel Angela Brown covered the Shadow Jumper back-story well enough for this to be a stand-alone, I generally have an OCD with book series' and will now probably return to read the two books in order! Angela Brown does not hold back in They All Fall Down, personifying the Devourer in the human form of Q, who enjoys the punishment of the humans he imprisons. The reader witnesses the ironies of Q as he struggles with the humanity left by Father Quanon; plans the death and destruction of those at the V'Salicus Academy; allows his lust (love?) for Abby to control him, and he directs his anger into sex. As he was once a 'good' human and Abby's mentor, I think his capabilities and depths of evil make him the most intriguing and threatening character, yet also perhaps the most open in his narratives. I thought Abby might be controlled by her relationship with Basil but it was great to see her kicking ass!! Angela Brown builds a dark world in They All Fall Down, yet this is totally accessible to the reader to become lost in. I loved the fantasy elements, especially the idea of making tattoos real! I will be looking out for the next in the series.
A normal life with the man she loves seems like too much for Abby to hope for. The past still haunts Basil and Abby. With Q still yearning to possess Abby, his dark tendrils reach out to destroy them. Their struggle just to be together stretches further to saving mankind as well. Can there be love and trust in a world sinking to the depths of dark desires?
An excellent second book in the Shadow Jumpers series. The characters and conflict have already been established, but the reader is taken to deeper and darker levels. Abby and Basil have grown as individuals and together. Yet their relationship is tested, twisted, and trampled upon. Your heart will feel like that going through the intense emotional journey with them.
My favorite bits were with the villain, Q. He's one of those bad guys you love to hate! Plus he kept the throne.
A fast moving plot with amazing imagery and a whirlwind of emotions. Angela Brown has taken us on another thrilling ride through a demented House of Horrors, and I'm left craving more.
he book starts off quickly, and pulls you in just like Neverlove did. You see that Abigail and Basil are still chasing their happily ever after, and that the Devourer is still causing havoc on earth with his plots and plans. And since the form of Father Quin has taken over the dubious honor of being the lord of Hell, part of those plots includes getting Abby back! Q has even enlisted Basil's mother into the plan, and has a new girlfriend for Basil.
Abby meets another "former" Harvester, who saves her from getting run over. He's also there when her and Basil hit a rough patch after her seeing pictures that aren't quite what they seem. These pictures are on the camera that belongs to the other Harvester, who accidently gave her his by mistake when he "saved" her.
Over all, I highly recommend this novel. You still have the same characters you fell (or will fall) in love with from Neverlove. They All Fall Down has plenty of action, lots of suspense, and an ending that just might catch you by surprise! This book is a complete package, with a 4 star rating.
In book two of Shadow Jumpers we follow Abby and Basil as they fight against an old enemy with a new face and goal. After the shocking ending of Neverlove, Q has an all new plan on becoming more powerful. Abby and Basil are fighting for a life together, but that isn't a part of Q's plan for the world. With all new crazy henchmen and a double agent or two to make things even more interesting, Abby and Basil are fighting for more than just their lives together this time.
Angela Brown expands her world and the lore dealing with Hell and the history of the Society, really rounding out the history and characters a lot. The story line was much more involved and included many new characters while seamlessly working in some of the memorable side characters from book one. It isn't too often I enjoy the second book more than the first, but this one far surpassed book one in my opinion. I couldn't put it down. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/...
Abby and Basil made it through and are finally together. But secrets and still being kept and Basil is sneaking around. Abby is worried of what's going on with Basil and her feeling were confirmed when a new comer shows her random pictures he took while hanging out. Thier relationship is being tested, meanwhile Q is there there egging things on trying to get Abby to come to him.
Fantastic. Short, action-packed and enough drama to keep the reader to the very end. If I had to choose I loved this book more. There was so much going on in this book. It's unpredictable lots of twists and turns. Overall I really enjoyed thing book and think you lovely readers will too. Highly Recommend. 4.5 of 5 stars!
