This Wicked Rush

"A steamy, high-octane love story that will have you wondering how far you'd go if you stopped playing by the rules." -New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely

Caitlin

If loving him is bad, I don't want to be good. I would die for any one of my little brothers or my baby niece, but I don't know how I can live without Gabe. Every moment with Gabe is hotter, better, sweeter than the last.

I know I'm playing with fire, but for him I'm willing to beg to be burned.

Gabe

We're going too far, too fast. This is more than a summer fling. More than just stealing from the rich to feed the poor. If I really love her, I'll walk away and stay the hell out of her life. But I can't.

Even though I know that if we're not careful, our next rush might be our last.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read.

She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.

When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.

I was only half alive before I met Gabe. I know that now. I was a shadow of my true self, going through the motions, spending my life responding instead of acting.

Think...Bonnie and Clyde, with a twist...and maybe some Shameless lol!

This Wicked Rush is the first book in the, Wild Rush series, but there is a prequel, One Wild Night, which is a freebie, it's best to read it before this one. So Gabe and Caitlin had one wild night together and Caitlin hasn't been able to forget about it. The money she got that night has removed the threat of the bank foreclosing on her family's home and for another year she can breath relatively easy. But every now and again she remembers the thrill of that night. The thrill of doing something dangerous and the thrill of Gabe's hand between her legs in her friends car...

Gabe hasn't forgotten about her either, that night he was looking for a thrill too and a summer fling, looks as if Caitlin is the girl for him.

Caitlin is going to agree to this job, and the next and the next. We're going to have a summer neither of us will ever forget, and do the world some good while we're at it.

Gabe is rich, he grew up with money and parents who gave him whatever his heart desired besides the obvious, love. Caitlin, is a twenty year old who should be out enjoying her life but instead she has to take care of her three younger brothers and her baby niece. Gabe is intent on helping Caitlin take care of her family, he's also intent on avenging all the people who have been wronged in their town an exacting vengeance on the people who've wronged them. Together, Caitlin and Gabe become a vigilante duo of sorts.

And while they take on more and more jobs, the thrill starts becoming dangerous even deadly. Caitlin becomes more than a fling to Gabe, and Caitlin stops being people pleaser. Her growing feelings for Gabe, make her realise what she's been missing. But then there's a secret, but I can't tell you what it is, but it left me feeling really feely and all over the place.

"Why?" I ask,y voice deeper, huskier. "Why do you want to help me?"
"Because I like you." He meets my gaze, a vulnerable look in his eyes that makes me think he's telling the truth.
"I think you're smart and kind and hard-working and the sort of persion who deserves better than the hand you've been dealt." His lips lift on one side in a lopsided smile.
"And you've got a delicious naughty side, and I like stealing things with you."

A quick break down of why I have it 3.5 instead of 5 Stars
The story was way too short, lacked some character developement, some unanswered question and even though there is a book 3 they could have been answered in this book. In overall the book was good, kept me engaged so I'll definitely be reading the next one.

3.5 Bonnie and Clyde Twisted Stars

I start by saying I did not read the prequel, One Wild Night, so that kinda put me in the HUH? dept for a few. I was able to pick up the premise soon and found myself pretty happy with this modern day Bonnie and Cldye tale, only with much more of an emotional twist!

Caitlin comes from hardship. She is struggling to keep her family together every day. Forced into the role of a mother to her siblings and niece she is one tough cookie. She is not prepared for Gabe and his sexy, rich swagger to knock her off her path. Gabe a breath of "dangerous air." He pushes her by offering the means to live better and the lust to feel free!

Two characters from opposite worlds...talking on the demons of a small town and relishing in the gains to make a better life. For Caitlin, she feels remorse...sometimes, but at the same time she is high on the adrenalin and intrigued by the darkness that seems to be in her. For Gabe, his motives are not clear upfront...seems as if he is harboring his own personal darkness!

It is whirlwind of crime, passion, and ultimately love progressing over a hot southern summer. But as the summer comes to an end so does the craziness...or perhaps the darkness finally comes to light and rocks Gabe and Caitlin permanently. Both lose EVERYTHING that matters! Enter Cliffhanger! Relax because I one clicked the next book to find out what happens~

I admit it. I did not read One Wild Night before reading this. I'm kinda kicking myself as Gabe is all kinds of awesomeness! So I will go back and read that now I have finished.

Ok so my thoughts.

I liked this book. I enjoyed it and was a great read.

Caitlin is a really strong character and I immediately liked her. She just got shit done, didn't whinge or whine about it. But then again she didn't have anyone to whinge or whine to it about.
After taking a night off from her life (book 1) she meets the amazing Gabe.

Well Gabe is back. He's decided he wants Caitlin again. This time he has an offer for her though, one he know she won't say no too.

He gets what he wants, she gets what she wants. Everyone wins.

Someone always loses though don't they? What ends up as a fantastic summer or fun/romance and crime comes to an end. Not only is Gabe keeping a HUGE secret from Caitlin, they have both done the unthinkable and fallen in love with each other.

Thats's pretty much all I'll say about the story as I don't want to spoil anything.
I will say however that this was my first Jessie Evan's books and I will be checking out others.
I feel as if the cover doesn't really fit the story though. It kinda just looks pretty, like a YA cover.

It was wonderfully written with enough steam, swoon, fun, intrigue and mystery to have you smashing through the pages (who needs sleep really? it's overrated!)

Oh and one more thing?

HUGE as in HUMONGOUS, MASSIVE, NUCLEAR Cliffhanger that will have you ready to rip your hair out.

Especially when you cannot find ONE THING about the next book. A release date would be awesome - Just saying.

This book starts where the prequel leaves off and the unexpected but thrilling ride that is Caitlin and Gabe.

Both Gabe and Caitlin have forged a closer bond with their nighttime pursuits in getting justice against those who have gotten off scott free, however the past catches up with them.

This book also had me crying at the level of emotion thatches out between the two and you really find out what both of the characters are made of and how strong they really are, especially Caitlin.

The book ends on a kind of cliff hanger so I really can't wait ti see what happens next in the story.

A brilliant book.

There is no way that you can convince me that Jessie Evans hasn't seen Showtime's "Shameless" after reading this book.

General spoilers follow...

The amount of similarities between this book and that series is ridiculous:
- Family with
- Rich boyfriend who is up to no good - on the show Jimmy/Steve steals cars,
- Younger brother who is
- Toddler aged younger sibling (check)
- Caretaker older sister going

... and the similarities go on and on... even to the point of paying the tax bill on the house. Yes there are some differences - it isn't a complete plagiarism of the show, but not enough to just be a coincidence.

I have a hard time enjoying something that comes across as a total copycat of some other work.

If it turns out that the author hasn't seen Shameless and it is just completely random that her book almost completely mimics the series, I apologize... but you will have a hard time convincing me of that.

But if you liked this book, and haven't seen the show, I HIGHLY recommend you check it out - it's what this book hopes to be! :)

Gabe is a self-professed womanizer, risk taker, instigator and selfish son of a bitch. All for him and him for him! He’s never been refused by any woman either. Caitlin Cooney knows he’s textbook “Bad Boy” but she’s drawn to his confidence and mostly his experience, although she really has no clue what she’s getting in to. It’s good versus wicked and she feels she’s earned the opportunity to explore the wicked side of life, for once. Taking care of her brothers and niece is quite a lode to bear, for anyone, especially a twenty year old.

Gabe has taken an interest in the beautiful Caitlin and happily bring her along on his wild ride of vigilante justice, but only for the summer. She’ll be set financially when they are done. Can they be done when it’s over? He’s never felt so unsure about his ability to break a relationship off, than now.

The rush that Caitlin feels with Gabe is almost too much for her. She tells herself, this is only for the summer and then he is going back to school and she’ll be through with the reckless nonsense. As much as she doesn’t want to admit falling for Gabe Alexander, she is slowly letting her guard down. Dangerously Caitlin is letting her heart open to this man.

Gabe is falling in ways he’s never allowed himself to for any woman, like he has for Caitlin. He doesn’t dare let her know she’s changing his life. After all, it isn’t fair to give her hope when there is none. He’s determined to go about his way when they are through.
Caitlin finally admits her feeling to Gabe and is stunned to find he feels the same. Gabe comes clean about something he’s been holding back on too. Without giving it all away, you must read this book!

This is a raw story where your heart will swell and get angered along with them. It’s an emotional roller coaster and its a sexy beast! I know you’ll enjoy this. It’s a classic tale with a bit of twist.

I've read almost all of Jessie's books and I really love them. This book is very different from her sweet, southern HEA's that we've grown to love. It is sexier, darker and hotter with an extremely different plot twist. I love this "new" Jessie! The writing is absolutely outstanding! This is a unique story of Caitlin and Gabe. Their story starts in the prequel, One Wild Night, where they agree to do something crazy together and they can't deny the attraction that grows between them. Caitlin is taking care of her brothers and niece and trying to earn enough money to keep their house and feed her family. Gabe can't forget about the one night they spent together so he has a proposition for her that she can't say no to. They agree to spend the summer together and their lust quickly turns into something deeper. I was sucked into the story from the beginning and couldn't put it down. Gabe is so effing sexy and dangerous with just enough of a dirty mouth! Caitlin is beautiful and caring and can't help but fall for him. They have major obstacles and there is a cliffhanger. I laughed and I cried and I can't wait to see how their story plays out.

I should walk away from Caitlin Cooney and stay the hell out of her life.
But I won't.
I've never been good at doing what I should. I don't resist Temptation, I throw him a big, loud party and invite Trouble to D.J.

This is a memory I want to keep for the rest of my life. This is one of the pictures I want to flash before my eyes when I'm fighting for my final breath.

And then I see him, Gorgeous Gabe, leaning against the weathered bricks of Harry's Diner, his jagged brown hair hanging so delicious in wrinkled black jeans and a whisper-thin gray tee shirt it should be illegal. The moment our eyes meet, his full lips draw into a grin that promises the best kind of trouble, and something breaks inside me.

4.5 Wicked Stars!

Twenty year old Caitlin doesn't have the best home life. Her father is a constant drunk. Her mother left when she was twelve. Her sister left when she was seventeen leaving her in charge of the family not to mention her sisters newborn daughter as well. So now Caitlin is working two jobs and raising four kids.

Then there's Gabe who comes into her life like a tornado, literally. Offering her enough money to to support her family without having to work and enough money to go to college. All she has to do is steal money from people with him. But not innocent people, the people they target were accused of various crimes and weren't held accountable for them, so it's okay to take from the guilty right?

Over the course of the summer Gabe and Caitlin embark on a whirlwind of crime, being as careful as possible or so they think. When one person figures it out is leads to serious trouble not to mention Gabe is hiding something big from Caitlin, very big. Something that could change their relationship forever,

---

First off Second off this book was crazy with a capital C. So much stealing and craziness I loved it!

Can't wait for the second book in series to see what happens, with the whole yah know .. cause clearly it was successful!

Definitely recommend !

I loved Gabe I loved how he didn't give up until he got what he wanted and what he wanted was Caitlin, "you don't mean that." He falls in beside me as I start toward the diner's front door. "Come on, Caitlin. Come play with me." I loved the chemistry Gabe and Caitlin had:
"What will you have?" she asks, pen clenched tightly between her fingers, gaze glued to the pad in her hand.
"You, tomorrow night," I say. "At my house, for dinner with my parents. Nothing else, just dinner, conversation, and I'll take you home straight after."
Gabe he's not one to mince words he tells his thoughts, "all I could think about the entire dinner is how much I want to taste you. I want to put my mouth between your legs as much as I want to keep breathing. I'm going to make you come so hard you see stars." I appraise Gabe for trying to be a good boy when Caitlin is around even though Caitlin tempts him more than he'd admit, "he groans softly, trapping my sock-cap-covered head between his hands. "Stop it. Or I'm going to take you to the van and get you naked in the back, and we're not going to leave here with any of the things we came for." All I got to say is Jesse you better work fast on the next book or you may have a lynch mob after you. I've read some of her other books and I think this is the best one (yet).

For the younger generation.....

I read this book as a favour to my daughter who really loved it. I was warned about the sex scenes.

While I find it is an easy read book, I think because of my age the very descriptive sex scenes no longer appeal, (been there, done that, as in read that in my younger days).

I did enjoy the story of Caitlin and Gabe and wished it had been ‘fleshed’ out a little more with their back stories. I liked the way it was told from Caitlin and Gabe’s point of view, and I also liked the Irish proverbs heading up Caitlin’s chapters.

I was disappointed with the ending as I like my books to finish off better, rather than having to wait for the next novel. It’s okay to have a series, but I feel they still should be able to stand alone.

Finally a book about a bad boy romance that actually has an interesting and unique plot.

Caitlin has been taking care of her family forever. With an alcoholic father who shows up once in a while for money, to a sister who was such an addict that she abandoned her own daughter when she was 2 months old. She is also raising her brothers. And this is all on the budget of her job as a waitress. She is almost at the end of her rope and drowning in the financial struggle. She refuses to give up though and will NOT let her family be broken up and sent to foster homes.

Gabe is a rich, sexy as sin and has a wild streak.

Wow, that is all I can say about This Wicked Rush. The title says it all. Just when you think you have everything figured out, Jessie Evan throws a curve ball and your spun into an emotional roller coaster. Gabe and Caitlin are just perfect together. Lust, love, darkness, edginess are just some of the things you'll feel when your reading it. As always, job well done Jessie!! Can't wait for One Perfect Love, the continuing story of Gabe and Caitlin. Make sure you read One Wild Night, the prequel to This Wicked Rush. You won't be disappointed!!!

Caitlin and Gabe haven't seen each other in months. Now that she has a little more money from their night of crime she has avoided all contact with him.
Now they are back to their nightly events. Things are getting more dangerous as they try to right some wrongs. Gabe is keeping a secret about his health. He doesn't want Caitlin to know, so he breaks it off with her so she doesn't find out that he isn't well. They had got their revenge on someone they know but, they didn't realize how it would put Caitlyn in danger. The lengths that they go to was a major shocker. I am still trying to grasp how a well mannered, polite, mature young lady who is responsible for her 3 younger brothers and niece would get into the situations that she has and feel no remorse.
A little drama, danger, romance and heartbreak are in store for you. You will be left with a cliff hanger that makes you wonder what is going on.

This Wicked Rush by Jessie Evans
Series: Book #1: Wild Rush Series)
Source: Purchase
Rating: 4/5 stars

There are a lot of authors out there who can weave a fine tale and then there are authors who can really weave a fine tale. Jessie Evans certainly falls into the really category and This Wicked Rush is just that, a naughty and fast-paced read meant to lure you in and not let you go until the final page.

Caitlin and Gabe are from two very, very different worlds but for one wild night, they came together and did the unthinkable, they committed a crime, got away with it, made out like crazed weasels and, returned to their lives. For Gabe that meant returning to college and for Caitlin that meant returning to her wrong-side-of-the-tracks home where she cares for her younger siblings and niece and works two seriously crappy jobs meant to keep her family’s heads above water. Caitlin has accepted her lot in life: her mother ran off, her older sister ran off and left a toddler behind and, Caitlin’s father only shows up when he’s drunk, needs money or a place to sleep or wants to threaten/frighten Caitlin and the kids.

From the beginning, it is clear why Caitlin hates her situation and desperately wants out. She loves her family fiercely and will never abandon them but she is basically killing herself trying to make ends meet. She has sacrificed everything for her family and yet it still isn’t enough. When the Adonis bad boy otherwise known as Gabe reenters her life, Caitlin is swayed by his proposition even though she knows, with every fiber of her being that it is wrong. For just one summer and with no strings attached, Gabe wants Caitlin to help him steal from the wicked in order to right some of the wrongs in the world. Gabe assures Caitlin that should anything go wrong, he will take the fall for the crimes and since he is (thanks to his parents) ridiculously wealthy, all of the money stolen will go to Caitlin and her family. The catch? 1) Caitlin has to become a criminal; 2) she has to pretend to be Gabe’s girlfriend and; 3) she has to NOT fall for her partner in crime. Too bad Caitlin can’t seem to control that last one 

From the beginning, Gabe’s story is far less clear. He is from an old and über wealthy family, he is gorgeous and, his life is right on track. But, Gabe has dropped out of college, he basically despises his parents and, he is bound and determined to have Caitlin as both a partner in crime and a lover. Gabe makes it clear from the beginning, this ride is just for the summer, their crimes are actually meant for the greater good and, he has no intention of being anything other than a fling. Too bad Gabe can’t seem to convince his body and heart of the wisdom of that last one 

From the moment Gabe and Caitlin begin their adventures you, as the reader are on a sort of crazy joy ride. Their plans for each crime are meticulous, their execution is virtually flawless and, their after-the-crime time together is smokin’ hot. As hard as both try, their feelings for one another grow until there comes a point when neither can deny the obvious. Underneath all of this drama is the added bonus of knowing something is not quite right with Gabe but not really knowing what it is. The big reveal on this one and the crazy, ridiculous ending will leave you absolutely confounded and begging for book two!

The Bottom Line: So, with all the awesome things I just said about This Wicked Rush, why can’t I commit to the full five stars? For one reason and one reason alone, I just can’t wrap my brain around the answer to what’s wrong with Gabe and the ending. For me, the two just don’t work together and after such a good read, I was left totally confounded and somewhat uneasy. With that being said, I know there is another book coming and I want my questions answered so I will absolutely be in line to one-click the crap out of the next book in the series, One Perfect Love.

Wow this book was more than I ever expected, and I loved every second of it! I couldn't put this one down from start to finish, and I cannot think of a single thing that I didn't love. (Well maybe the cliffhanger ending since the second book isn't out yet, but even that is forgivable because this book was that good!) This Wicked Rush by Jessie Evans has everything you could want in a great book, and I am so glad that I read this story. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book One Perfect Love to come out because I absolutely have to know what happens next!

Caitlin Cooney has been taking care of her younger brothers and her niece since both her mom and older sister left them. Her dad is a drunk who does absolutely nothing to help, forcing Caitlin to work multiple jobs just to barely scrape by. Caitlin takes one night for herself and meets Gabe. She gives in to her attraction to him and they end up doing far more together than she ever expected. When he comes back around months later wanting her help, she does everything she can to avoid him. But Gabe doesn't give up on the things he wants easily and he wants Caitlin. Caitlin finds herself unable to say no to him, and the more time they spend together the closer they get. What starts out as being just a summer together quickly grows into more. Caitlin and Gabe embark on a summer of love and sex as well as righting some wrongs by seeking revenge on those that deserve it. But with the expiration date on their relationship, the danger their revenge provokes, and Gabe keeping a secret...can they both make it out together and safe?

I absolutely loved Gabe. I knew there was more to him than met the eye, and I had my suspicions from the beginning. But I just loved his character so much. He is sexy and confident, and really caring. He took care of Caitlin and her family, and did things just to make them happy. I thought that despite what they were doing, Gabe was really great for Caitlin. He got her to think about life differently and he helped her to stand up for herself and her family. He was so easy to root for even when you felt that you shouldn't. I also really liked Caitlin. She was so protective of her family, and you could tell how strongly she loved them all. She wasn't just taking care of the kids because they were family, but because she chose to do so. She always put their needs above her own, and you could tell she would do anything she could for them. She was so strong and was able to handle so much. Gabe and Caitlin had such a great connection, and they understood each other better than anyone else. It was clear that they loved each other and had something that they had never felt before with anyone else. They had amazing chemistry together and were super hot! These two were extremely sexy together and you could practically feel the heat coming off my Kindle while reading about them!

Overall, this book was fantastic! Dark and Edgy, but yet has moments filled with love and sacrifice. This story was different and unique and absolutely captivated me from the beginning. I loved Jessie's writing style, and everything about it was outstanding. Gabe is so freaking sexy, and I absolutely loved his dirty mouth! Him and Caitlin will definitely be characters that stay on my mind, and that I will go back and re-read over and over. Their story is one that you can't help but become invested in, and I cannot wait to get more of these two. Yes there is a big cliffhanger, and you will definitely be left wanting more. But trust me, this book is worth the read despite the ending! I highly recommend this story, and I know I will be stalking the book sites waiting for One Perfect Love to be released.

4.5 Sexy and Twisty Stars

After reading One Wild Night, the prequel to This Wicked Rush I knew that this was going to be unlike any of the books I had read from Jessie Evans before (and if you haven’t read it I urge you to go get it for FREE and see how Gabe and Caitlin’s adventures begin)! This is not your ordinary romance, but man does it keep your attention. I will tell you up front that there is a cliffhanger and that Jessie will be continuing Gabe and Caitlin’s story in the upcoming One Perfect Love. I’m not going to reveal any spoilers either, but I will say that this story took me by surprise and there was laughter, suspense and tears.

“Anything can be done with people who love you by your side.”

Caitlin Cooney is a fighter, a survivor and a nurturer. She has taken on the responsibility of raising not only her three younger brothers but her young niece, leaving a scholarship to an exclusive prep school during her junior year to work two jobs to support the family. She doesn’t date, she rarely does anything for herself and most of the time she is more stressed out than someone twice her age trying to figure out how to keep a roof over their heads, food in their bellies and the young kids out of the system. But despite all these hardships and the support of a couple of really good friends, Caitlin is a bit scared and a bit lonely even if she won’t completely admit it. So when Gabe, who she knew in high school, and she share one wild night and he offers one crazy proposition things in Caitlin’s world change in unseen ways.

Gabe Alexander is an ass. He is a player. He is everything rich, spoiled and a total contradiction of it all behind that façade. Gabe has had it all handed to him all his life, everything but feeling wanted and loved. Though that is not how Gabe presents himself and not what he thinks he wants he knows he wants Caitlin. What starts as him trying to exact some justice on some scumbags his defense attorney father has gotten off, it becomes oh so much more as Caitlin becomes first his partner in crime and then “his everything”.

“…none of us truly know what we’re capable of until we’re put in an impossible situation, until we step over the line and realize things aren’t so very different on the other side after all…”

Caitlin and Gabe are sizzling together. They feed off each other and while Gabe brings out the fierceness in Caitlin, being with Caitlin brings out the caring and wanting for more that Gabe professes he never wants. They are supposed to only be together for the summer and by the end of it go their separate ways, Gabe back to school and Caitlin with enough financial security to stop killing herself and be able to go to college. However the best laid plans and all that. As much as Caitlin wants to resist Gabe she can’t and hasn’t been able to since that first night, and maybe just maybe Gabe wants more from Caitlin than just a “fake girlfriend or a partner in crime”. What they find together is exhilarating, thrilling and scary as hell but it just might be the best love that either of them never knew they needed. Can’t wait to see what Jessie does to me in the follow up to this one because TWR was just that a complete and total rush of emotions!!

I liked This Wicked Rush more than I anticipated. After reading the novella, I wasn’t sure I was going to like Gabe all that much, no matter how much I sympathized with Caitlin’s situation. I was relieved to find the feelings I struggled with in One Wild Night were not repeated. Initially I was hesitant to love this, not just because of my feelings after One Wild Night, but also because I couldn’t imagine Gabe and Caitlin’s activities not catching up to them and blowing back on their families.

Caitlin can’t catch a break. The 20 year old high school dropout has been working 2 jobs and struggling to keep her 3 brothers and niece fed, clothed, and housed for the last three years. Her father is less than useless, avoiding home, spending his meager disability check before it can go to caring for his children. When she connects with Gabe, he offers her a way to lessen her burden and find some hope that things will get better. The only problem is it takes illegal activities to find that relief.

Gabe, the handsome boy who used to goof off in the seat behind Caitlin in study hall, sweeps in with a plan to perform Robin Hood like acts, tipping the scales of lawbreakers and monsters who have gotten away with their crimes to help Caitlin afford to go back to school and raise her family. I spent much of the book trying to figure out what his game was. He is a rich kid with a trust fund, yet he feels the need to steal from others? But as he continues his plans with Caitlin, there are hints that something else is going on in his decision making process, and he is feeling things he refuses to acknowledge.

I loved Caitlin’s siblings and niece. She was so devoted to them that she had given up everything she might have been if she had stayed in school. But to save them from foster care, she gave it up, and never complained or let them know they were anything but the most important thing to her. Watching Gabe interact with them also

I read this waiting for the other shoe to drop. Would it be Gabe’s secrets or something to do with one of their robberies? Until it happened I wasn’t sure which way the story would go, and that anticipation kept me reading with rapt attention. The tension provided by the illegal activity adds to the plot movement nicely, in addition to the progression of the relationship between Gabe and Caitlin.

As the first in a new series, this does end with a doozy of a cliff. It almost looked like there would be some resolution, but a big piece of information was dropped at the end that left a lot of unanswered questions for One Perfect Love. This was a fast paced read that kept me moving forward from the time I started until there were no more pages to turn. It was not always an easy read, but completely engrossing and challenging in the best possible way.

Thanks to Jessie Evans for providing me with a complimentary copy in return for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.

Caitlin has had a rough life. Abandoned by her mother and sister, she is left to deal with her drunk father and siblings and a niece to raise...everything in her life has been hard so it is easy to see why she never lets outsiders into her heart.

Then in walks Gabe...with a love for life he lights a fire inside Caitlin and shows her a world she never knew existed. They agree to a fun summer together with no attachments but the more time they spend together, the more they fall for each other.

But Gabe has one hell of a secret that he is keeping from Caitlin and when she learns the truth, it will blow her world apart.

I was really excited to read this book based on its description and I am really torn on how to write this review. I always strive to not put spoilers in my reviews, but after spending the last 45 minutes reading this book through tears, I feel like it is my duty to warn you what you are getting into.

So, you have been warned..SPOILERS AHEAD...read at your own risk...

Parts of this book are amazing, it is told from both Caitlin and Gabe's POV so you get to spend time in both of their heads and their chemistry is off the charts from the first chapters. It is a great build up and the sex scenes are hot and plentiful. That is what I liked...

Now here's what really made me angry...

You see, I read romance novels for a reason...they are an escape from the everyday and even though the characters will have their ups and downs, you expect a HEA eventually. SPOILER, SPOILER, SPOILER...I don't see that happening with this book because this book commits my number one, can't believe you just did this to me, rule...the author spends 70% of the book making you fall in love with Gabe not indicating there is any reason why these two can't be together and then WHAM...oh wait, SPOILER, SPOLER, SPOILER...he's dying!!!! Wait, what???? And it only gets worse from there.

An example of what you're in for:

He doesn't promise me that everything will be ok; he doesn't say I'll be fine. He just keeps repeating that he loves me, and believes in me, and that he will love me forever. "Forever," he whispers into my hair as he cradles me close. "Until men are fairy tales, and the world goes up in a ball of fire."

My thoughts:

Quick hook or slow starter? 5 (I was hooked from the first chapter)
Character development: 4
Level of Romance between characters: 4
Passion/Heat level: 4 (chemistry between these two is off the charts from the start and you don't have to wait long to get to the heat)
Angst/Heartbreak: 5 (see rant above)
Cliffhanger?: Yes, huge!! Is he dead, is he not dead yet but still dying? You'll have to wait to find out.

Overall, if you can't tell...this book did a number of me. Bravo to the author for creating characters I feel so deeply for. I am dying to know what happens to them but I don't know that I have it in me to read the next one.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received This Wicked Rush in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR Promotions. Caitlin hasn’t had an easy life raising her three younger brothers as well as her sisters daughter hasn’t been easy. Her drunken father doesn’t help out forcing her to work two jobs just to be able to feed the kids. When earlier this year she was stuck with an unexpected bill that almost lost her the house a handsome stranger came up with a plane that helped her out. The boys will be out of school for the summer, costing more money for daycare than she can afford but having dropped out of high school the best she can do is a waitress job as well as working at the theater.

When Gabe who helped her out before shows up Caitlin isn’t willing to risk going to join because it will her the kids. Gabe is sure that he can keep her from getting caught willing to take the blame, risking going to jail to help her out. Neither of them can deny the attraction between the two of them, and they haven’t stopped thinking about each other since the last time they met. When Caitlin decides to risk it all and trust Gabe she didn’t expect to give him her heart either. What should be an easy way to get money turns deadly quickly, and Gabe’s secret may just risk them both.

I loved Caitlin she felt real, exactly how I would expect a girl forced into her situation to ask. While she may have had to grow up fast putting her dreams on the line she does what matters most taking care of her brothers and niece. I found her character refreshing because she was so honest. Gabe I wasn’t sure about him but as the book progressed I started to like him. They bring out the good in each other, and I liked that he helped her with her father. She needs someone to look after her because she’s used to being walked on.

This Wicked Rush is a captivating story that deals with tough real life issues. It’s an emotional story that takes the reader on a roller coaster ride with Caitlin. I honestly really liked the characters they are easy to connect with. There is a decent amount of smut in the story so mature teens. I like that even though the story did have smut it also had a great story. Caitlin and Gabe remind me a lot of Robin Hood taking from the bad to help out Caitlin. It’s a fast paced story that I had a hard time reading I finished it within just a few short hours. Talk about cliffhanger I can’t wait for the next installment to see what’s going to happen next. This is my first book by the author but I like that her writing style flows smoothly it was easy to get lost in the book.

Wicked Rush
Jessie Evans

This ARC was given by Self Taught Ninja Press via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book 5 wickedly good stars.....

If you believe that everyone is dealt a hand of cards in life, then you might think that Caitlin Cooney was dealt a terrible hand. However, if you ask Caitlin if she regrets taking care of her brothers and very young niece you would instantly know Caitlin would not wish her hand to be any different. Her mother abandoned them, her sister left her baby behind to follow her criminal lover, and her father is a drunk waste of a man. She gave up her dreams of finishing high school and going to college in order to work two jobs and support her family that she is now raising as her own. That is the main reason she makes a promise to never let a relationship come between her and her family.

Gabe Alexander is the small town bad boy with good looks, family money, and the need for a different girl every time he goes out for some fun. He is the only son of a very successful lawyer and family riches that date back to the Civil War. He is home from law school and decides to offer Caitlin some money to pretend to be his girlfriend for the summer. He will do just about anything to keep his mother off his back and from setting him up on blind dates all summer long.

He walks into Caitlin's diner and offers her $500.00 to attend dinner with his parents. Desperate for money to help pay the pills, she actually considers the offer. His troublesome ways are what make Caitlin think she can accept his job and challenge because nothing would ever become serious with a boy that looks for trouble and is against commitment. She has no idea that he has a plan that will help her out in more ways then one and allow her to keep her family together and attend college. However, his plans are on the illegal side of things and she is not sure if she can risk getting caught and losing her family.

I love, love, love this book. It is sweet, hot, dangerous, and keeps you on the edge throughout the entire book. The twist leaves you heartbroken and believing in miracles. Their wicked games keep your pulse racing. I need book two NOW!

Caitlin Cooney's life has changed dramatically. Gabe Alexander has opened her eyes to a completely different world the night that they spent together at the beginning of the summer. Making her his accomplice in his quest to right wrongs in their South Carolina town, and drawing her into the explosive chemistry between them, he has awakened her and left her dissatisfied with the life that she has been living up to this point.

Caitlin just wants to get back to her normal life, working and taking care of her family. She is determined that there not be a repeat of what happened between them, but finds herself more and more deeply drawn to Gabe. And when Gabe sweetens the deal, making it impossible for her to say no to him, she agrees to be with him just for the summer.

Gabe knows just how to get Caitlin to agree to spend time with him, but is hiding a big secret from her. He didn't count on coming to care for her as deeply as he does, and, as the summer progresses, he faces some hard choices where she is concerned.

Jessie Evans is great at character development. Caitlin is sassy and independent, having had to handle some very tough things in her young life, and Gabe is just delicious. He is smart and hot, and goes from simply wanting Caitlin to wanting to give her everything. The chemistry between Caitlin and Gabe is super-hot; they start out being very attracted to each other, but the attraction quickly deepens to much more as the story progresses. THIS WICKED RUSH made me think of a sort of take on 'Robin Hood,' with a whole lot of hot and sexy scenes. The story does end on a cliff-hanger, but not in an abrupt way. Lili has done a good job of bringing everything together and setting us up for the continuation of Caitlin's and Gabe's journey in ONE PERFECT LOVE, the next book in the series, and I can't wait to see where they go.

I skimmed the second half of it, but I cannot wait for the second book to come out!!

She is so strong to raise her family the way she does. The book glamorizes crime a bit, but the story definitely works. The guy and girl plan to spend the summer together. They started off as partners in crime to being in a fake relationship to being in a real one. Even though they promise not to get feelings involved, they do anyway. However, he is dying from cancer and the surgery that has a slight chance of saving him may wipe his memories and other things that make up his personality. New tries to break it off when her family and her get too attached to him, but he finds it hard to stay away. After about a day, he drives to her house to see her being kidnapped by one of the people they rob. The rob people that they find in the client list of his father, who is a good attorney. The guy that kidnapped her is a guy who locked his mother in the attic and treated her worse than an animal while filming everything. The guy is also the girl's brother's teacher who is giving the brother hell. The main girl and guy had stolen the DVDs and the jewelry. The evil guy kidnapped the girl to make her his new victim. However, the guy comes in at the last second to save her. He is about to kill the man when he suffers a fit from pain. She takes over and kill the guy. They get way with the murder when police rule it as a suicide. The lead girl and guy spend the night together and decide for him To move in with her. They talk about getting a tattoo of wind blown dandelion seeds. However, the next day when he goes back home to get his mods, he never comes back. The girl goes to his house only to have his mother tell her that she as supposed to convince him to take the surgery and now he is dead. She gets the tattoo so that she will always remember him. However, at the end of the novel, we are given hope that maybe is not dead because no one by the lead guy's name has been in any of the nearby hospitals nor been sent to any funeral places or graveyards.

4 1/2 Stars!

This Wicked Rush is a novel from Jessie Evans’ new “Wild Rush” series and is nothing like she has ever written before. There is a prequel to this book, One Wild Night, and I would recommend reading that novella first as it introduces Caitlin and Gabe and starts us out on their story. This Wicked Rush picks up virtually where the prequel leaves off and continues taking us through the journey of an unexpected love between Caitlin and Gabe.

Although they agree to keep their relationship simple, limited to one summer together, they both quickly become aware of the deep feelings they are developing for one another. From the beginning, we get a feel for Gabe’s almost immediate need to protect Caitlin, not only from their shenanigans, but also from anyone who he feels does not have her best interests in mind. This story will not only pull at your heart, it will also have you hanging on the edge of your chair with moments of suspense and danger. And not only does Ms. Evans give us some hot, sensual moments, she also writes the most loving and beautifully tender scenes and some heartbreaking ones as well. So be prepared, you may need a tissue or two.

As I neared the end of the book, I began to fear that there were not enough pages left to bring me through to the conclusion of Gabe and Caitlin’s story. As I continued turning the final pages, all I could think was “No! No! Don’t do this to me!” But I knew Jessie was going to leave me hanging. I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2 with the continuation of this series and hopefully uncover the mystery and answer the questions Ms. Evans has left in my mind.

WOW Jessie. I really enjoyed this amazing story. This Wicked Rush tells of such a deep connection of love and one which strives to survive no matter what lies ahead. At times these characters even seemed to move together as one. This was absolutely incredible and such a new road you have taken me down. Well done! I loved this!

“This thing with Caitlin feels…inevitable, like I was meant to spend this last summer with her, like I was meant to rip my heart out of my chest and hand it over to this girl.

Still beating.

Still raw and ugly and messy, but real, the realest thing I’ve ever known.”

This is my first Jessie Evans book and I think I should be picking more up. This book was unexpected. This book was dark and sexy, as well as, light and funny. This book had a little bit of everything. It was definitely beautiful and heartbreaking no matter what trouble the main characters where getting into.

Caitlin is trying to keep her family together. Her mother left, her sister left her sister in the house and hasn’t been seen since, and now she is trying to feed four mouths and keep a roof over their head. She meets Gabe and he offers a rush, a way to get her hands on money, deal out some karma, and have some fun with a sexy guy. She fights it. Stealing, even, from people who deserve it is wrong. But she can’t resist for long. And a beautiful relationship begins.

Gabe can’t promise more than the summer. He wants to give Caitlin one summer that is full of an adrenaline rush that will hopefully last a lifetime. Gabe wants to give her all that he can. He wants to help with money, fun, and he wants to be a part of a real family. Something his parents never gave him. The only problem is he falls in love. He falls in love with Caitlin, her siblings, and the life he can’t have.

Sometimes I like to think on my ratings before I give one, or even change my mind. This Wild Rush (Part 1 in the Wild Rush series) by Jessica Evans is one of those books. In fact, I have changed my initial rating of 4 stars to 5 namely as the book has remained with me since finishing it and I can't get Gabe and Caitlin's story out of my head.

Now there is a prequel before This Wicked Rush called One Wild Night (#0.5) although not essential to read, it gives you a little background information and is also free on Amazon Kindle (Or is at time of writing this review). I did read it before reading This Wicked Rush and I do feel it helped with the learning the story and actions of Gabe and Caitlin.

The thing that goes this book 5 stars wasn't just the dynamics of Gabe and Caitlin's story. Although amazing and I loved their connection it was how the book kept me wondering till the end what was going on. I loved that. Loved the mystery and it made me love the story more. Gabe is a complexed character, a bad boy, yet he isn't, a hottie (For sure), but he has a secret and although towards the end you may start to work it out I don't think you'll be prepared for the ending.

Yes it was the ending that gave this book its 5 star. In fact I want to have words with Jessie Evans the author for making me shed a few and get all worked up, the cliffhanger will have you groaning! Yet its a really amazing book.

In fact if you look through my reviews you will see its rare for me to give 5 stars, but This Wicked Rush deserves everyone of them and I cannot wait for book #2 when its released to see what happens next. This is a great New Adult Romance, there are dark elements and you will get emotional (Or at least I did), but it is thoroughly enjoyable and worth it too!

Wow! I just finished reading it and yeah, just wow. Before I start my review, I will say that Gabe made my list of Book Boyfriends 2014 the minute I met him in One Wild Night.

After one wild night together Gabe and Caitlin could not stop thinking about each other even after months of being apart. Caitlin is still hard at work and taking on way more responsibilities then a twenty year should have to while Gabe is well, being Gabe....

So when Gabe decides enough is enough and that he has to see the girl that he can't stop thinking about he goes to her. They make the decision to spend the Summer together to let loose before they have to go back to reality. A summer full of passion, laughs and also danger. They feel alive when they are together and don't want the summer to end but nothing last forever....

I am in love with these characters, all of them even the little ones. Gabe is so straight forward and Caitlin is strong. And they fit perfectly together in the bedroom, it's the perfect blend of sexy and sweet. And the book is like puzzle that needs to be pieced together and I love puzzles! It's edgy, sexy and dangerous and I can't wait for more.

Quotes:

I've never been good at doing what I should. I don't resist Temptation, I throw him a big, loud party and invite a Trouble to DJ. ~ Gabe

She's so beautiful, like something out of my dreams, the dreams that are always about her. Always. Ever since the night I first kissed her addictive lips.

He's brought danger into my world, be he's also brought joy and passion and life.

Fueled by amazingly-written sex, filled with high emotional tension, and suspense too intense to ignore. This Wicked Rush was an exciting read that I just couldn't put down. The characters were absolutely lovable and the plot itself urged me to keep reading.

Caitlin is a character I really, really liked despite her sometime being annoying. But she's hard-working, innocent, independent, strong, beautiful, courageous. She can be reckless and impulsive at times because of Gabe but the development in her character was A+

Gabe was different because he came from a wealthy background. He's not afraid of taking risks until Caitlin Cooney.

"I didn't think feelings like this existed. I'd never been in love and I never imagined… I never meant to get so lost in you."

The novel began fantastically but the rush of the plot with less development in their relationship was a no-go for me.

It's honestly been a while since I've read a book that's made me so emotional!

This Wicked Rush was a beautiful story of two people, trying hard to not give in to the feelings they once promised not to have.

Caitlin was dealt a sh***y hand at life. Abandoned by her mother, and older sister, left with 3 brothers, a niece, and alcoholic father; Caitlin's is left, alone, picking up the pieces her mother and sister left behind.

A chance meeting, or maybe it was fate, bring Gabe and Caitlin together.

Gabe. Oh Gabe. He's all types of deliciousness. Bad boy mixed with a beautiful heart, is the definition of Gabe.

What started out as a dangerous, yet thrill seeking "partnership", quickly turns into something more, something HOT.

Their were so many unexpected turns, one second my heart was shattered into a million pieces, while the next second I was left with an overwhelming feeling of hopefulness.

Jesse Evans has a way with words. I was honestly hooked from page one, and did not stop reading until the very last page.

I loved EVERY second of This Wicked Rush. I felt an emotional attachment to these characters. I was in no way, ready to part with them.

The ending left me wanting, needing, SO MUCH MORE!

This Wicked Rush gets a well deserved 5 bold stars.

Jessie Evans I love love loved this book, and I can't wait for more!

You have a forever fan in me.
