Food is almost plentiful. Round one is coming to an Egg-citing end. Watch out for that double cross.
Nacho and the Chips Guild are expanding rapidly, both in membership as well as reclaiming land for their burgeoning city. The presence of a cook allows people to gather in large numbers without fear of starving to death, though the reluctant Guild Leader knows better than to let people get too comfortable. Careful management of people has never been his forte, but luckily he has surrounded himself with people that can get that job done as he focuses on learning to craft proper meals.
As Nacho begins to find a sense of peace in his life, he is suddenly thrust into a new battle when the CruxTerrans launch a surprise attack. They seize several of Nacho's closest friends and use them to unlock a hidden portal which will determine the fate of Earth as well as CruxTerra. The Guild Leader and his adversaries are thrust into a daunting challenge that neither side is prepared for, testing their abilities… and especially their willpower.
The endgame is in view, and Starvation is on the table.

Publishing my stories has been an incredible blessing thus far, and I hope to keep you entertained for years to come! -Dakota Krout
I was eagerly awaiting this book and read it in one day. This is my first foray into this genre but I have to say that I’m really enjoying it. It has a lot of funny, puns, some heartfelt/sinister moments. Another review I read indicated that the characters didn’t have a lot of depth, but that doesn’t bother me… And I’m not sure I agree. I enjoy the leveling up of the main character and trying to determine what are the best use of his abilities as he struggles to be a player, and a leader, by following a super rare build.
Maybe my expectations are different because I don’t normally read these types of books, but as a fan of role-playing games, cooking, and friendships I find this series to be great. I’m eagerly anticipating the next book.
The final book in the series is rushed and doesn’t have the same development as the first two. The introduction of a key power player is glossed over and mostly ignored. I hope there is a future trilogy as there is lots to resolve…I eagerly await!
What a hella action-driven pedal-to-the-metal fanale to this dynamite trilogy. I even found myself holding my breath at times as we neared the ending to the fantastic tale! As Nacho and his gang started out on the new quest the game had given them. Nacho was confused as to why his nummy gyros brimming full of wormy meat wasn't received with an ovation! But as the quest began, they learned that they would be fighting crossterrans in a zero-sum game. Finishing in a battle Royal! Y'all gotta go get this fantastic trilogy! Better yet get the audiobook because MacLeod Andrews is absodamnlutely one of the best narrators out there! And I could tell that he enjoyed reading this to us as well. So get this fantastic match up. As MacLeod Andrews takes Dakota Krout's words and makes magic!!!
Here's a few of the quotes that amused me:
"That could be more beautiful than the radioactive glow of the factories lining the swampy rivers as industrialization reached new heights?
"...rolling open a filing cabinet the color of boredom."
“No. I can’t. Well, I can, but won’t. Maybe I should, but I shorn’t.”
Great finale. I really did not expect the ending even though I'm sure others can predict better! Action packed end and clean humour.
To put feedback to author after reading the series, the last book had several noticeable spelling, grammatical, or wrong words used which must have been missed in proofreading. I didn't note thus so much in the 1st 2 books. Also, as a non-American, I struggled on a few occasions to reconcile the phrase 'could care less' with the fact it probably should have been 'could not care less'.
This is such a fun series! I'm not sure if there will be more books but I'd read them if there were more. This series has a positive similarity to the dungeon crawler Carl series but much more PG rather than the much more brutal and complex series but that honestly makes it really nice. This series deserves a 4.5 instead of 4 and I highly recommend it.
so I really enjoyed the overall series it was a lot of fun definitely worth checking out. The ending on this one was a little bit weird I'm not sure if the series is going to continue or if there's going to be spin-offs or what but other then that uncertainty it's definitely a series to check out.
Good conclusion. It worried that the ending would feel rushed but the events that lead up to the conclusion made sense. The characters were the highlights of the series. The story was entertaining and humorous.
Live in the Juxtaposition is looking better. The guild situation has been resolved and it seems that Nacho and the Chips can get back to preparing for the future. Nacho has a handle on some of his cooking. Not so much with some other recipes. That was when the Cross humans made the first move.
This dark litrpg still keeps it fun with Dakota’s punny humor. There were some great small adventures before the main story kicks in. The main characters are the life blood of the series, but all of the other characters are fantastic as well. Another character is introduced and I just wish we could have had more time with them. I do hope Dakota revisits this IP. There are so many stories that could be told here. Andrews does a great job with narration.
The final book of an odd LitRPG series from a favored author. The setup is the magic and abilities comes from food and drink - and you can end up starving to death, if you aren’t careful. In the previous two books, this was more theory than actually seen. But here, it becomes reality. …
And I’m not that sure I liked it. Or maybe the long slog of battle wasn’t as satisfying to me, when he end result was character dying of starvation, instead of through their actions. I did appreciate the conclusion and a lot of the build up.
Author Dakota Krout closes the series with a slam bang finish: our favorite guild, led by Satiationist (cook) Eli "Nacho" Naches, battles level 2 and 3 monsters, a necromancer with a hoard of zombies, and the dreaded 'CrossHumans' with crosses as pupils. They're from another universe, which our heroes invade.
Nacho cooks up a storm while his friends kick butt.
Mr. Krout avoids a cliched ending with one most readers won't expect.
So this was the end of the trilogy, but this can't be where the author is planning to end this series. Some fairly major characters were introduced that I feel like need to be explored more, and there's going to be a round 2. Not sad about where it's ended for now, but it's definitely not all wrapped up.
This was a good book 3 in a trilogy. It does a very good job of concluding the current storylines, provides more information about the world in general, adds to the existing interpersonal narrative and sets things up for a possible next series in this universe. It leaves you wanting more.
I just finished and I can honestly say Wow. Did not expect the ending, I am not sure where it is going next. Will the next stay with Eli? Or will we get a new front line crew? I can't wait to find out.
“No. I can’t. Well, I can, but won’t. Maybe I should, but I shorn’t.”
It really felt like Dakota did not know where he was going with this series until the last 3-4 chapters of the last book. I enjoyed the idea of the MC and the boon that let him experience the world before it really arrived. Games where food is a requirement I have hated since the days of Ultima.
I enjoyed book 1 and 2 but have been struggling to finish this one for some time. I think I am just not as excited about this universe as I thought I was.
Decent book, but the logic starts to suffer and there begins to be more and more inconsistencies in the story. Feels a bit rushed and less care was taken in writing a cohesive story.
