What a wild ride! There was no letting up from beginning to end. I loved absolutely everything about this novel except two things that I’ll list at the bottom in case they are considered spoilers.
Let me first say I unconditionally adore both the MC/ML. Their relationship just works and it’s objectively so perfect. I want to say high school Gojo/Geto but sigh, IDK.
Shen Zhuo : regular human, cold & aloof (but of course there’s so much more to him) a little bit of a mystery, gifted, intelligent, academic/professor, very capable despite being “just human”. He has my whole heart. I love him so much and I am not alone- has many admirerers/pursuers 🤣
Bai Sheng: evolved human, outgoing, perceptive, crafty (cunning?), a little bit chaotic, lovable, “socially audacious”, and when it comes to SZ- besotted, devoted, smitten, jealous and slightly possessive (and I don’t blame him). Just so full of emotions.
What to expect:
🧪Sci-fi thriller (not interstellar) with politics and action. If you are new or intimidated by sci-fi, this would be great novel to read (also highly recommend Can Ci Pin/The Defectives)
🧪Humans with special abilities from a radioactive event (evolved humans) with different classes, powers/abilities, etc (X-men, Avengers, My Hero Academia)
🧪Humanity struggles- power, class war, morality, etc but also add in extraterrestrial troubles
🧪Incredible side characters. Initially you might not know who you like but you will love them all by the end
🧪Very satisfying ending. I was so worried for the last 4-5 chapters because this story involved time reversal and spatial portals
Things I loved:
💉Their relationship dynamic. So different but equal with their own strengths.
💉The plot. I was engaged the whole time. Sci-fi aspects were fascinating and easy to understand.
💉Fast paced action without sacrificing having a good solid cast of characters
💉The confession(s) 😍😍😍
Things I don’t like so maybe a spoiler…
1. TW: animal abuse/torture/death mentions chap 32 and 37. It is not crucial to the plot so while I wouldn’t recommend skipping these chapters, you can ask me or anyone for a quick summary bc it does matter for Chu Yun’s character.
2. What happened in wolf form. It’s not explicit, not a big deal, not a major part of the story. I just didn’t like it and would prefer to unread it lol. It was a little weird for my brain but I do not judge anyone who likes this.
Is this omegaverse? IDK! I am not that familiar with that but pheromones are involved 😬

Grab some popcorn—reading this book feels like watching an X-Men/Avengers movie, and yet it offers so much more. It’s action-packed, full of RPG-style evolved humans, with power levels, special abilities, and Fatal Strikes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Shen Zhuo, the shou, is just a regular human in a world transformed by a meteorite shower, but he’s not weak AT ALL. He has his own way to obtain power. I love how strong and resourceful he is, always finding a way to survive in the most dangerous situations with his own strength and intelligence.
Bai Sheng, the gong, is a natural comedian, but he has his dark sides too, which makes him all the more compelling.
Bai Sheng fixed his gaze on Shen Zhuo, his pupils flickering slightly. His eyes were unpredictable, as if he were intensely weighing something in his mind.
Even a restless lion would repeatedly consider whether to follow its instincts, disregarding and directly pouncing, or to endure, bow down, and whine, in hopes of continuing to receive the desired love and appeasement.
I also love the side characters with their own temperaments, especially the two kids who are “adopted by force.”
“Son, listen to me. Our vast family fortune is likely to be squandered by eighty percent under your watch. The only hope we have left is your sister. Please don’t truly anger her, or you won’t even get a share of the dividends.”
“Daughter, listen to Dad. Life is like a play; if you get sick from anger, there’s no one to replace you. When Dad comes back, he’ll buy you a zoo, and you can raise whatever animals you like, okay?”
Also, let me mention: there's a GL side couple here! It doesn't get much focus, but it's sweet anyway.
There are a few minor inconsistencies with some abilities, but they’re easy to overlook because the story as a whole is just that good. What a ride!

I don't understand why everyone loves Shen Zhuo (MC). He's arrogant and condescending. I have no idea what Bai Sheng (ML) sees in him when Shen Zhuo repeatedly treats him like rubbish.
My boy, Bai Sheng was carrying this story so much for me because of his deadpan humour. But I just know I'm not going to buy the romance between these two later on which is one of my main reasons for reading danmei.

There was a lot to like about Huí Tiān (洄天） but not everything and sadly I didn’t fell in love with it like I thought I would.
The good things:
- Shen Zhou. I just love me a guy whom I have to get to know slowly and the more I learned the more I wanted for him to have the world and all his dreams come true. That he preserved his love for humanity as a whole through his childhood was more than astonishing. He was the best.
- The idea. I loved how it spanned space, science, and time. The mutations were so interesting and I wanted to learn more about them until the end.
- The kids (Chu Xiaoyan and Yang Xiaodao). They were both hilarious in their own way and their antics made me laugh the most while reading.
- Amatullah, Margot and Antonio. They were my favourite S-class characters and I loved how they were silly, funny and fearless at the same time.
- Witch Italdo. I just loved her and I’m happy that there was more to her than what one thought at the start.
The mediocre things:
- Bai Sheng. Sorry, I know he’s well loved by Shen Zhou (and probably many readers) but I found him to be too much most of the times. At the same time his personality lacked depth for me. Even after having spent the whole story with him his character felt insincere to me until the end.
- The jumps between povs sometimes from paragraph to paragraph. That made it sometimes hard to follow the plot. I guess in the Chinese published version there might be some scene breakers to make those more clear.
- The wolf thing. No spoilers here, but I have read way better shifter or whatever that was supposed to be scenes.
The bad things:
- The villains. For real, they were all walking cliches. That it took so much time and effort to get rid of them was a bit of an overkill for me. If this book would have been 500 pages shorter I wouldn’t have minded.
- The violence. I’ve got nothing against violence to add to a plot, but it was just so so much here and by the end of the book I was desensitised and actually bored by it.
- The animal cruelty. It was a plot point but I would have appreciated less detailed descriptions. I’m not easily triggered but I’m a veterinarian and I love animals so those vivid descriptions made me sick to my stomach.

🤞Praying for an audio drama adaptation and English licence🤞
Rewriting my reviews because they made no sense:
I absolutely adore this book. The pacing and the plot felt so engaging (especially reading this after TEiO) and characters (even the side cast(!!!!) are so well done. This story is very different from what I've read, but it happens to have aligned with my tastes (almost) perfectly.

An Excellent Read

—...Está bien, no tengas miedo.— La voz de Bai Sheng tenía un temblor extraño, su barbilla rozando la mejilla empapada de sangre de Shen Zhuo —no tengas miedo.
En la vasta extensión del cielo y la tierra, sólo ellos permanecieron, abrazados fuertemente, inseparablemente.
—Puedes regresar en cualquier momento, puedes recorrer este camino hacia donde quieras— La nuez de Adán de Bai Sheng se movió violentamente, su voz era ronca: —Si mueres, me uniré a ti, nuestras cenizas se mezclarán y se esparcirán en el mar. Miles de años después, cuando nos volvamos a encontrar, seguiremos recorriendo el mismo camino.
Shen Zhuo ya no pudo sostener su cuerpo, su frente fría se presionó contra la de Bai Sheng y sonrió levemente una última vez:
—Está bien.
5* para Hui Tian y si pudiera darle mil estrellas más se las daría. Ahora que he terminado Hui Tian solo me queda una frase que se repite constantemente en mi cabeza y es: ¿Qué acabo de leer? ¿Qué acabo de leer? ¿Qué acabo de leer? ¿Qué acabo de leer?
Alguien podría decirme ¿¡QUÉ ACABO DE LEER!?
Ah, esta es de esas historias que se merecen una buena releida, ahora quiero volver a leer Hui Tian por primera vez....
La trama es tan cautivadora que es imposible dejar de leer, simplemente quieres saber que pasará con Shen Zhuo y Bai Sheng ADEMÁS de que pasará con la HUMANIDAD. Es increíble que el inicio de todo esto haya sido una lluvia de metoritos que causó la evolución de millones de personas nononono es que YO AMO ESTO, lo amo tanto JODER es que el como se ejecutó absolutamente todo es tan perfecto, tan refrescante, tan TAN SATISFACTORIO.
Es que dios, al inicio nos están dando un Bai Sheng de clase S por un Shen Zhuo que es humano con un extremo odio a los evolucionados, la tensión sexual que estos dos se tienen es hasta tangible, el desarrollo de personajes es impresionante Y EMOCIONANTE. SÍ, ES MUY EMOCIONANTE NOTAR COMO POCO A POCO SUS SENTIMIENTOS VAN PROGRESANDO.
AH, tengo que decir que el pasado de Shen Zhuo y Cameron es tan desgarrador que me encantó. ME ENCANTA CUANDO ME DESGARRAN EL CORAZÓN Y ME LO DEJAN HECHO PEDAZOS DE UNA MANERA TAN IMPRESIONANTE, ES QUE TODO ES TAN DETALLADO QUE SE NOTAN LAS GANAS QUE PUSIERON PARA HACERME LLORAR.
Shen Zhuo es un personaje tan meticulosamente mhh DETALLADO que me deja sin palabras, su personalidad es tan única que me impresiona el hecho de que Shen Zhuo haya apostado por Bai Sheng porque es el tipo de persona calculador que aunque pueda manejar las cosas cuando se salen de sus manos aún prefiere tener todo bajo control...
Por todo lo anterior, amo la forma en la que Shen Zhuo se enamora de Bai Sheng, todo su proceso fue conmovedor porque Shen Zhuo no es de palabras, así que sus pequeñas acciones parar animar y reconfortar a Bai Sheng fueron muy especiales. El hecho de que Shen Zhuo haya dicho ESTO:
Lo has hecho muy bien —repitió Shen Zhuo con énfasis, mientras sus dedos rozaban las manchas de sangre del cuello de Bai Sheng —No revertí el tiempo por ningún otro motivo que no fuera salvar a mi propio amante.
Y ESTO:
—Estoy dispuesto a protegerte y seguirte hasta el día en que enfrentemos juntos la muerte…
Demuestra el amor TAN INMENSO que le tiene Shen Zhuo a Bai Sheng.
Por otro lado, Bai Sheng es una LOCURA de personaje, demuestra ser relajado y a la vez algo desvergonzado(? Cuando en realidad es posesivo, territorial y la vez está tan loco por Shen Zhuo... Huai Shang la sacó del estadio dándome un Bai Sheng QUE SE CONVIERTE EN LOBO Y >ATENCIÓN< TIENE FEROMONAS!! Eso fue lo mejor, sí. Por otro lado, Bai Sheng es CAPAZ de matar a miles de evolucionistas con tal de proteger a Shen Zhuo y esta tan locamente obsesionado que literalmente esto piensa cada tanto:
"Nunca podrás dejarme....
Incluso si hay guerras, espinas y tormentas peligrosas en el futuro, todos en el mundo sabran que tú y yo estamos juntos y seremos inseparables hasta la muerte."
Ahora que me doy cuenta, parece que Shen Zhuo aprendió de Bai Sheng lanzar frases que incluyan la palabra muerte sin ningún miedo... Ahh, esta pareja cómo puede ser tan perfecta? TENGO QUE DECIR QUE TAMBIÉN FUE MUY CONMOVEDOR COMO SHEN ZHUO LOGRÓ SER UN TONTO FELIZ CON BAI SHENG, ÉL AHORA RÍE MÁS Y TIENE UNA FAMILIA QUE LO AMA TANTO Y AAHH CÓMO PUEDE SER ESTO TAN HERMOSO??? Los personajes de Yang Xiaodao y Chu Yan también fueron de lo mejor, ame cada interacción y soltaba una risa cuando la familia estaba reunida...
Por último... Los demás personajes secundarios también fueron muy memorables y graciosos, las lesbianas trágicas fue un plus de lo mejor y los villanos una locura, muy gratificante el final de cada uno de ellos. ES QUE ES UNA LOCURA TODO AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Hui Tian definitivamente superó mis expectativas con creces con todos esos plot twist y AME las descripciones de violencia, la sangre, los desmembramientos, etc etc TODO fue tan emocionante que hacia que DE VERDAD entrara en el ambiente de la historia.
Fue un gran equilibrio de angst, sangre, comedia y romance. Ame todo. El final fue de lo mejor, lloré porque por fin pude respirar tranquila y pensar: "ah, por fin mis niños lograrán ser felices"

ES QUE ES UNA LOCURA TODO AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Hui Tian definitivamente superó mis expectativas con creces con todos esos plot twist y AME las descripciones de violencia, la sangre, los desmembramientos, etc etc TODO fue tan emocionante que hacia que DE VERDAD entrara en el ambiente de la historia.

This is the third novel I’ve read by Huai Shang, and I absolutely loved it! If there’s one thing Huai Shang does best, it’s delivering the perfect pairing of a cold, distant, ruthless, and hyper-intelligent shou with a funny, tough, devoted, and utterly romantic gong. Hui Tian is an action-packed, thrilling, and hilariously chaotic ride, filled with unforgettable characters, witty dialogue, and a love story that transcends danger, conspiracy, and intergalactic threats.

This was good for the most part, but I lost interest where things were supposed to be ramping up. Felt like I couldn’t work out either of the main characters. It felt like I didn’t know them at all? Maybe that’s on purpose. I doubt I’ll read the remaining 4 volumes, but who knows?

This was the third novel I've read written by Huai Shang. I was worried about not liking it since I had difficulty getting into Swallowing the Seas. However, Hui Tian got me interested from the very start. It is the first novel of hers that I've read with a pre-apocalyptic, sci-fi setting. The power system and story behind the evolution were well done and very interesting. I loved the different powers she came up with for the characters. The characters are also a solid point. Despite the story mostly being focused on the main two characters, the side characters were endearing, and I ended up interested in their storylines. I also really liked the ending. Usually, I am not a fan of wiping people's memories and resetting the future and stuff, but I like how it was done here.

3.5 - 设定挺新奇的，但是主角的爱火烧的有点莫名其妙。可以看出来是自割腿肉，主要满足老师自己爱的设定，这点我respect。淮上这样的作家真的自己写的开心就好，作为读者不强求，且看且珍惜。

Wow. I absolutely loved this book. Probably the best I've read so far this year, which is really saying a lot. I had a feeling I would, since I've read Po Yun (Breaking Through the Clouds) by the same author and that was also a 5 star book for me, but I enjoyed this more. It has everything I like to read contained into one setting, from the dystopian setting and humans with superpowers to a shameless ML to a really well written romance that starts out ambiguously but really ramps up to a complex but well contained story with plot twists and explosive action scenes. It seriously has it all!
Hui Tian is set in a dystopian world where 100,000 humans around the world have gained super powers after being exposed to radioactive meteorites which descended upon earth 5 years ago. To help regulate these humans with powers, or evolutionists as they're called, new departments headed by a supervisor have been set up around the world, and our MC is Shen Zhuo, the supervisor of Shenhai City. He's among the top 10 supervisors in the world and is impressively the only human among them.
I was immediately drawn into the story from the first chapter when Shen Zhuo has to deal with a group of terrorist evolutionists who try to take over a civilian plane. The way that he deals with the terrorists reveals his genius ability to think 10 steps ahead as well as his iron determination to never give in to terrorists. It's a good introduction to his character. What made the opening scene all the more interesting is the introduction of Bai Sheng, the ML. The terrorists grab him as a hostage since he looks like an innocent college student, but little do they know that he's one of the 20 S class evolutionists in the world, i.e. he's one of the most powerful beings in the world. Let's just say it was a walk in the park for him to take care of the terrorists, and Bai Sheng and Shen Zhuo finally meet for the first time after the plane safely lands.
If you couldn't tell, I really like both main characters. Shen Zhuo's stoic and emotionless nature only makes it all the more sweet when the ML is able to get a smile or some other reaction out of him. Like you know Bai Sheng has succeeded when SZ's lips curve up a tiny bit, because that's the most he reacts. And honestly I love Bai Sheng; he's such a chaotic presence in SZ's life that SZ doesn't know what to do about him. It's interesting because SZ has had so many suitors because of his amazing looks and brains, but Bai Sheng is the only one shameless and brave enough to do anything to him XP
What I also appreciate about Shen Zhuo is that he's very independent. Even though he's a human and doesn't have any powers regularly, he uses a combination of his brain and the serums he always carries on him to protect himself in most situations instead of relying on other evolutionists. There were multiple occasions where I thought someone would come to rescue him, but no, he manages to save himself. I love me a smart character! Bai Sheng isn't lacking in this regard either. After they get to know each other better, it was lovely reading about them working together.
The story was also fantastic. Initially it's not obvious what the conflict is and who the bad guys are, but slowly it becomes clear as our main characters learn more about the events of the past. The author does a really great job of tying past events and revelations to the present, and slowly one mystery after another is resolved in a satisfactory manner without leaving any gaps.
One of the biggest mysteries that's introduced pretty early on is what happened 3 years ago in the Qinghai site explosion, where Shen Zhuo is the sole uninjured survivor. There's a constant cloud of suspicion hanging over his head because of this incident, and the truth when it finally came out really blew my mind. And that's how I felt for much of the story near the end; the author doesn't pull her punches with the plot twists and kept them coming. I was sitting at the end of my figurative seat as the story was hitting its climax. I haven't read such an exciting book with so many explosive chapters in a while!
Despite the serious and complex storyline, the author finds time to insert bits of humor here and there to lighten it up, which I appreciated. Their family dynamics with the two adopted kids often put a smile on my face, especially when the kids walk in on some inappropriate scenes or the whole family collectively despairs over the son's abysmal grades. The extra chapters read like pure crack too, and you really get a sense of how far Bai Sheng can take his love and how much Shen Zhuo has to deal with on a daily basis XP
Also there were some lines that I thought were exceptionally well written. For those, I actually stopped and reread the whole scene leading up to the epic line again to enjoy it a second time. I almost never do this, and there were multiple such lines throughout the story, so needless to say I'm a huge fan of this author's writing. The translation was amazing too, so kudos to the translator for a great job as well.

Where do I start.... my thoughts are all over the place after just finishing the book, so I'm just going to make some short notes rather than anything cohesive:
There were a couple moments that really blew my mind. One was what I mentioned above, when Shen Zhuo calls out Rong Qi as Fu Chen and goes into the truth of what happened 3 years ago during the explosion. I wasn't expecting that at all, and it was crazy to me that Rong Qi and Su Jiqiao were already collaborating to that extent in the past. Poor Shen Zhuo who got caught up in their schemes :(
Another was when we find out about the true intentions of Extraterrestrial Spiritual Entity 001. I knew that guy didn't have any good intentions for humanity but it was interesting to find out what his end goal was. Unsurprisingly, it was for his fellow extraterrestrial kin to possess more evolutionist bodies and take over earth and kill all the humans. It was creepy finding out that he's been possessing Fu Chen's body as soon as he evolved. No one actually knew the real Fu Chen. No wonder he was obsessed with Shen Zhuo...
Also, as soon as the author established that Shen Zhuo didn't evolve because he chose not to, not because he couldn't, I knew he would at some point in the story, and the scene where it he finally did it and then immediately used his fatal strike ability was so epic!! It's been a long time since I read a scene that was so riveting and had my heart pounding.
The twist about the truth behind the HRG was completely unexpected too. Rather than being a deterrent between the humans and the evolutionist, it actually ended up being the opposite by confirming that there are "superior vs inferior" genes. Yikes! No wonder Shen Zhuo and the rest of his research team wanted to keep the truth under wraps, and impressive they succeeded for so long. I was wondering the whole time who the traitor was and suspected everyone except Shen Zhuo, but the reasoning makes so much sense!
Shen Zhuo's fight against Nielsen was super exciting. He felt like something was off, so he injected himself with the serum while in the bathroom (SO smart of him!) and brilliantly used a series of serums to fight evenly against Nielsen while drawing out his Tyrant ability.
Bai Sheng had a couple of epic moments himself. First was when he absorbed Nielsen's powers and became the world's first double S class evolutionist, and again when he easily won against the 3 S class evolutionists who wanted to take over Asia from him and established himself as the true king.
I will say, I was really worried when I thought Su Jiqiao was going to use his fatal strike ability to make Shen Zhuo fall in love with him. That's one crazy guy. I can't believe of all the abilities, his fatal strike was Reverse Love-Hate. How much does he want Shen Zhuo's love to evolve in that direction?? It was such a relief when Bai Sheng came to save the day with his causality.
When the Spear of Time was introduced and we learn that Shen Zhuo has the ability to reverse time, my first reaction was that the story would start getting chaotic and hard to follow. What a truly nefarious plan. Thank god Bai Sheng was smart enough to figure that out and set a trap for Rong Qi instead. I'm so proud of Bai Sheng for outsmarting the bad guy!! While he was executing his plan, I was wondering the entire time how he was so confident he'd be able to disguise himself, and his strategy where he had Witch Italdo possess his body was nothing short of brilliant!
The only item that I felt wasn't truly resolved for me was Bai Sheng's relationship with the Round Table. What did they want him to do with Shen Zhuo other than to approach him? It was never fully disclosed, especially not with the Bishop's death. Not a huge deal, since both the Bishop and Bai Sheng acknowledge that he was never fully a part of the organization.
The moment Bai Sheng got hit again by another radioactive meteorite at the very end because of his proximity to Shen Zhuo was hilarious!! Seems like he can't escape evolving in any world XP But it was interesting to hear the explanation of how the Law of Causality "chose" him to be its wielder due to his proximity to the Spear of Time in Shen Zhuo's body. It easily could've been anyone else, but Bai Sheng was in the right place at the right time. It's like they were meant to be~

Wow. I absolutely loved this book. Probably the best I've read so far this year, which is really saying a lot. I had a feeling I would, since I've read Po Yun (Breaking Through the Clouds) by the same author and that was also a 5 star book for me, but I enjoyed this more. It has everything I like to read contained into one setting, from the dystopian setting and humans with superpowers to a shameless ML to a really well written romance that starts out ambiguously but really ramps up to a complex but well contained story with plot twists and explosive action scenes. It seriously has it all!
Hui Tian is set in a dystopian world where 100,000 humans around the world have gained super powers after being exposed to radioactive meteorites which descended upon earth 5 years ago. To help regulate these humans with powers, or evolutionists as they're called, new departments headed by a supervisor have been set up around the world, and our MC is Shen Zhuo, the supervisor of Shenhai City. He's among the top 10 supervisors in the world and is impressively the only human among them.
I was immediately drawn into the story from the first chapter when Shen Zhuo has to deal with a group of terrorist evolutionists who try to take over a civilian plane. The way that he deals with the terrorists reveals his genius ability to think 10 steps ahead as well as his iron determination to never give in to terrorists. It's a good introduction to his character. What made the opening scene all the more interesting is the introduction of Bai Sheng, the ML. The terrorists grab him as a hostage since he looks like an innocent college student, but little do they know that he's one of the 20 S class evolutionists in the world, i.e. he's one of the most powerful beings in the world. Let's just say it was a walk in the park for him to take care of the terrorists, and Bai Sheng and Shen Zhuo finally meet for the first time after the plane safely lands.
If you couldn't tell, I really like both main characters. Shen Zhuo's stoic and emotionless nature only makes it all the more sweet when the ML is able to get a smile or some other reaction out of him. Like you know Bai Sheng has succeeded when SZ's lips curve up a tiny bit, because that's the most he reacts. And honestly I love Bai Sheng; he's such a chaotic presence in SZ's life that SZ doesn't know what to do about him. It's interesting because SZ has had so many suitors because of his amazing looks and brains, but Bai Sheng is the only one shameless and brave enough to do anything to him XP
What I also appreciate about Shen Zhuo is that he's very independent. Even though he's a human and doesn't have any powers regularly, he uses a combination of his brain and the serums he always carries on him to protect himself in most situations instead of relying on other evolutionists. There were multiple occasions where I thought someone would come to rescue him, but no, he manages to save himself. I love me a smart character! Bai Sheng isn't lacking in this regard either. After they get to know each other better, it was lovely reading about them working together.
The story was also fantastic. Initially it's not obvious what the conflict is and who the bad guys are, but slowly it becomes clear as our main characters learn more about the events of the past. The author does a really great job of tying past events and revelations to the present, and slowly one mystery after another is resolved in a satisfactory manner without leaving any gaps.
One of the biggest mysteries that's introduced pretty early on is what happened 3 years ago in the Qinghai site explosion, where Shen Zhuo is the sole uninjured survivor. There's a constant cloud of suspicion hanging over his head because of this incident, and the truth when it finally came out really blew my mind. And that's how I felt for much of the story near the end; the author doesn't pull her punches with the plot twists and kept them coming. I was sitting at the end of my figurative seat as the story was hitting its climax. I haven't read such an exciting book with so many explosive chapters in a while!
Despite the serious and complex storyline, the author finds time to insert bits of humor here and there to lighten it up, which I appreciated. Their family dynamics with the two adopted kids often put a smile on my face, especially when the kids walk in on some inappropriate scenes or the whole family collectively despairs over the son's abysmal grades. The extra chapters read like pure crack too, and you really get a sense of how far Bai Sheng can take his love and how much Shen Zhuo has to deal with on a daily basis XP
Also there were some lines that I thought were exceptionally well written. For those, I actually stopped and reread the whole scene leading up to the epic line again to enjoy it a second time. I almost never do this, and there were multiple such lines throughout the story, so needless to say I'm a huge fan of this author's writing. The translation was amazing too, so kudos to the translator for a great job as well.

Where do I start.... my thoughts are all over the place after just finishing the book, so I'm just going to make some short notes rather than anything cohesive:
There were a couple moments that really blew my mind. One was what I mentioned above, when Shen Zhuo calls out Rong Qi as Fu Chen and goes into the truth of what happened 3 years ago during the explosion. I wasn't expecting that at all, and it was crazy to me that Rong Qi and Su Jiqiao were already collaborating to that extent in the past. Poor Shen Zhuo who got caught up in their schemes :(
Another was when we find out about the true intentions of Extraterrestrial Spiritual Entity 001. I knew that guy didn't have any good intentions for humanity but it was interesting to find out what his end goal was. Unsurprisingly, it was for his fellow extraterrestrial kin to possess more evolutionist bodies and take over earth and kill all the humans. It was creepy finding out that he's been possessing Fu Chen's body as soon as he evolved. No one actually knew the real Fu Chen. No wonder he was obsessed with Shen Zhuo...
Also, as soon as the author established that Shen Zhuo didn't evolve because he chose not to, not because he couldn't, I knew he would at some point in the story, and the scene where it he finally did it and then immediately used his fatal strike ability was so epic!! It's been a long time since I read a scene that was so riveting and had my heart pounding.
The twist about the truth behind the HRG was completely unexpected too. Rather than being a deterrent between the humans and the evolutionist, it actually ended up being the opposite by confirming that there are "superior vs inferior" genes. Yikes! No wonder Shen Zhuo and the rest of his research team wanted to keep the truth under wraps, and impressive they succeeded for so long. I was wondering the whole time who the traitor was and suspected everyone except Shen Zhuo, but the reasoning makes so much sense!
Shen Zhuo's fight against Nielsen was super exciting. He felt like something was off, so he injected himself with the serum while in the bathroom (SO smart of him!) and brilliantly used a series of serums to fight evenly against Nielsen while drawing out his Tyrant ability.
Bai Sheng had a couple of epic moments himself. First was when he absorbed Nielsen's powers and became the world's first double S class evolutionist, and again when he easily won against the 3 S class evolutionists who wanted to take over Asia from him and established himself as the true king.
I will say, I was really worried when I thought Su Jiqiao was going to use his fatal strike ability to make Shen Zhuo fall in love with him. That's one crazy guy. I can't believe of all the abilities, his fatal strike was Reverse Love-Hate. How much does he want Shen Zhuo's love to evolve in that direction?? It was such a relief when Bai Sheng came to save the day with his causality.

i did enjoy reading this book as a whole, but there were many parts that just didn't work for me. looking back on what i liked and what i didn't; the character work and relationships are great, the plot left me wanting more often than not.
beginning with the characters: shen zhuo and bai shang were great together. their dynamic, their chemistry, their banter and devotion. i feel liked the build up to their relationship was better executed than when they did get together. but their (very brief) divorce arc was genuinely some of the best character writing in this whole novel. them being kinda giddy with their new-found relationship, bai sheng wanting more more more with this person he loves, and shen zhuo not allowing himself to have more due to the secrets he continues to keep.

i normally don't care for "third act time travel to fix everything" plots but it fit suprisingly well here. their happy ending was hard fought and well earned.

Hui Tian by Huai Shang
Im going to stop at volume 3 (chapter 46)
I did not like the writing, the translation felt choppy and did not flow nicely. The story was fine, basically just a standard superhero story. The main characters are either super smart, super strong, overly good while the bad guys are overly bad and not so smart or strong. The danger the main characters experienced often felt flat because of that.
Bai Sheng (gong) who was flirty, obsessive and protective I really liked and was the best thing about this book. But Shen Zhuo (shou) who was smart, cold and aloof, lacked personality. I hated his character. The romance was non-existent between Bai Shen and Shen Zhuo. There was no chemistry between the two. I dont even know why Bai Sheng liked Shen Zhuo in the first place. Shen Zhou was most of the time an arsehole towards Bai Sheng.
The side characters were also very superficial.
Maybe if this novel gets offically published, I'll finish it.

I'm not interested in this novel anymore, at least not at this stage of life.
It started so good and it still is good, but so damn long.
I will definitely pick it up someday when I want something scientific based with slow-burn and sci-fi centered. What I want now is something shorter, cozy, and obviously a fantasy with cute couple. Couple here is so good: they're hot, smart, and badass. Still, something seems a bit lacking.
I am still looking forward to knowing the truth about Mr Rong! Sometime ...

Incrível! essa novel é um misto de emoções, são tantos plots e reviravoltas que você fica chocada e estupefata o tempo todo, eu lia os capítulos tremendo pra saber o que ia acontecer, e os personagens mds, eles são maravilhosos, o desenvolvimento, a dinâmica bombástica deles ahhh os #BaiZhou são a definição de Power Couple, impossível não se apaixonar por eles e pela história logo de cara.

Aaaaaaand it's done.
This was my first Huai Shang book and maybe I shouldn't have started with that (though I will try Tunhai and Poyun too, just not right now)
I think I discovered a new gem in the danmei genre.
The way this author writes is extremely captivating and the action scenes will make you unable to tear yourself from the pages (I should know, I almost missed my bus because of that). I got art-baited and the translation just got completed (thank you for your hard work) so of course I had to give it a shot.
The plot, in simple terms, is about how humanity handles sudden evolution from a meteor. Evolutionists are the people that managed to aquire powers through this meteor and their number is extremely limited. Their power level also varies from C to S, S being the most powerful of them all and of course there aren't many of them.
Our MC, Shen Zhuo, is a normal human (I know, I was surprised too) but he is not like other humans either. That's because he's quite literally a genius and he's also....extremely good-looking. It had to be mentioned because this beauty of his really wasn't an advantage most of the time, attracting all kind of people (mostly bad people). We also meet our ML, Bai Sheng, whose introduction must be one of the most iconic I've ever encountered. It made me like him instantly.
At first glance, we have this cold beauty and this guy who never seems to talk seriously and this is something that was done plenty before and I eat it up every time.
However, there's much more to them than meets the eye and they complete each other beautifully. They're extremely captivating and the sexual tension between them is also off the charts. BUT! I am not exactly a fan of (spoilers ahead) monster f*cking so their relationship in bed was...........not for me. That kinda made me delay finishing this book.
Well somehow I got over it and the plot definitely kept me going, it was beautiful, it had twists and turns and every question I had was answered in the end.
The secondary characters were also amazing and I got attached to a lot of them (especially the kids, Shui Ronghua, Italdo and surprisingly, Cameron). I also loved the fact that we had a canon lesbian couple.
My only complaints are that I wish Yue Yang had more screentime and that Shui Ronghua and Italdo appeared in the extras.
Overall, a solid 4*/5

Hace unas horas terminé el libro y estaba procesando todo lo que me hizo sentir este libro para escribir una reseña decente.
Cuando le estaba contando la trama de este libro a mi amigo solo podía decir que son los x-men gay porque si la trama va de como un grupo de humanos de la noche a la mañana desarrollan poderes cuando cae un meteorito a la tierra. Y de como un grupo de personas con distintos traumas, capacidades y fortalezas luchan contra una entidad extraterrestre para salvar a la humanidad.
Esta historia tiene uno de los romances más apasionantes que he podido leer. El mundo podría derrumbarse pero a ellos solo les importaría que el otro estuviera vivo.
"No revertí el tiempo por ningún otro motivo que no fuera salvar a mi propio amante."🤍
“Estoy dispuesto a protegerte y seguirte hasta el día en que enfrentemos juntos la muerte…”🤍

Sin más que decir solo puedo recomendarles que lean este libro.
