Victoria Yudin, the longest serving Microsoft(R) Most Valuable Professional for Microsoft Dynamics GP, has just released Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Implementation via Packt Publishing.

This is an update of the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 book she wrote a few years ago, which has been updated for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013.

The book progresses well from one area to another covering the initial planning and then installing the required software, from SQL Server upwards, before setting up the system and then the modules, loading initial data and moving onto the training and next steps of an implementation.

Victoria covers each of these areas very well, providing enough depth that people new to Microsoft Dynamics GP will be able to make use of this book. There are a number of practical examples throughout the book to aid in this process.

While I don't necessarily agree with all the points Victoria makes, but, lets be honest, who reads any book and agrees with everything, the book gives a very firm foundation on which to build and highlights some of the pitfalls to be avoided when implementing GP.

The book covers all of the core Financial and Distribution modules which generally forms the bulk of most implementations of Microsoft Dynamics GP.

This book is definitely going to be useful for consultants and I think it will be very good for those on the client side of an implementation as it will help understand the issues and reasons why certain things are done as they are.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Packt Publishing to review, but the words are an honest assessment of the book.

I've been implementing Microsoft Dynamics GP since version 2 and was given this book to review. As an experienced implementer I can say that Victoria Yudin’s book, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Implementation is a great resource for all levels of expertise.

Victoria thoroughly covered implementation from beginning to end. She covers not only the job of implementing the software but also how to plan before and after implementation including what kind of training should be considered. There are many helpful hints that you won’t find in any of the documentation manuals. Even the most experienced implementer will find something they can learn from. I found some helpful suggestions that I had not thought of before.

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a comprehensive resource to help with their Microsoft Dynamics GP implementations. You'll find it on Packt's website (http://bit.ly/19d5Tv0). Check it out for yourself.

Packt Publishing gave me a copy of this book to review and I have purchased previous Microsoft Dynamics GP books from Packt Publishing.

This is a very good book for someone to be able to understand what is needed to implement Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and to finish the installation and have Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 up and running.

I liked that it told you how Microsoft Dynamics GP is architected and things you need to consider before you start your implementation. The book had the right amount of graphics ( screen shots ) to help you follow along and the forums and blogs at the end are good to have as a complement to the detail in the book.

Victoria is an accomplished and certified Microsoft Most Valuable Partner for Microsoft Dynamics GP and I constantly refer to her website when I have questions to be answered in GP.

Packt Publishing was kind enough to give me a review copy of Victoria Yudin's Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 implementation.

This is an updated version to accommodate the new items and changes made in GP 2013. While reading this book, I was reminded again of how complete Victoria's coverage is. In addition to being an implementation guide, the book is also just a great look at the available features in Dynamics GP.

Even if you've already implemented GP, there is more than enough in here to help you take GP to the next level.

Anyone that has worked with Dynamics GP knows the name Victoria Yudin. From the most experienced consultant to the inquisitive end user, we have all relied on her blogs at one time or another and have likely passed on her blog site to new users like a GP staple.

Like her blogs, the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Implementation book is thorough, concise, and easy to follow. With checklists, screenshots, and tidbits shared from her experience, this book will definitely introduce even the most experienced GP consultant to a few new tricks.
