I’ve dreamed of this day forever. But will it be my last?
My stomach flutters with happiness as I try on my wedding dress. In just a few weeks I’m going to marry Nathan, the love of my life, and everything will be perfect.
We are estranged from Nathan’s mother, so I’m shocked when Debbie arrives, suitcase in hand. She says she’s moving in to help with the wedding preparations. But what is she hiding behind her pleasant smile? Is it possible she knows my darkest secret?
As the wedding draws closer, I can’t shake the feeling that I’m in danger. Beautiful cake toppers are delivered to my doorstep, but the bride’s face is smashed in. My veil goes missing, taken from my bedroom overnight. Has someone been inside my room, watching me while I sleep?
I won’t let anyone ruin my perfect day. And yet as I’m walking down the aisle, I find myself scanning my guests’ faces, searching for a woman with hatred in her gaze.
But when I look up, it’s Nathan’s eyes that are cold and strange. Has the man I love realised he knows nothing about me?
Then the terrible truth hits me. I was wrong about everything.
And I think I’m going to pay with my life…

Brynn is getting ready to marry the man of her dreams, Nathan. She's planning the wedding on her own practically while he is at a high profile murder trial.
We hear from 'the woman' that clearly is trying to sabotage the wedding. But why and who is this mystery woman? There are quite a few possibilities.
Alright so I liked the few twists we got, one was a real nice zinger, but Brynn going back and forth trying to figure out who was doing the sabotaging was a bit annoying. The things that were being done were things that you'd expect in order to get the bride in a frenzy.
Overall, it was fine, a bit slow moving, but I enjoyed the writing well enough that I'm interested in seeing where the next book takes us.
Side note ~ no matter where the author is based, or their nationality, I feel like if the book is based in the USA then proper terms should be used and vice versa. For instance we don’t really call people cows over here, or say chemist.
Narration notes: She sounded a little young, but did a nice job differentiating other characters' voices. I could have gone for a little more emotion at times.
Series notes: The story somewhat continues, so it would be best to read this one before The Missing Bridesmaid.
This is the first installment of the Broken Vows series. The plot is layered and original with well-developed characters. Secrets, suspects, and a constant sense of suspicion saturate this twisty plot. The narration added a layer of suspense while bringing the story to life. The beginning was slightly slow, but the plot picked up substantially at the midway point. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.
Wow. This pov story was so full of twists and turns. Such a pageturner full of misdirection . The bride to be was spot on the complexity of characyer played out over the story. The reveal felt perfect so far away from my own thoughts. Can't wait fir book 2. Highly recommended to anyone who like a fast paced pov mystery that will leave you wanting more. Thank uou so much netgallery and publisher and author for this 6 star read.
I was drawn to the title and cover of this new author, but I had trouble getting into it and wasn't sure how I felt about it. I found the book's synopsis to be quite intriguing.
The beginning was really interesting! I kept wondering who "the woman" was throughout this suspenseful and intriguing story. Throughout the chapters, my speculations about who it might be changed frequently. Unfortunately, I started to lose interest in the main character's situation in the second half of the book. I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters. I was unable to relate to any of the characters and found nothing about them to keep me interested or motivated to keep reading the novel.
On this one, I found the narration to be really difficult. The voice sounded incredibly robotic and a little irritating to me.
Overall it was okay book. I think I might like it better if I was reading physical copy instead listening to the audiobook.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of The Woman at My Wedding by L.G.Davis. This book was very fast paced and a quick read. It is a psychological thriller with many twists. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, The Missing Bridesmaid. Very entertaining. I would definitely recommend this book for those who enjoy domestic thrillers. A 5 star rating from me.
This audiobook was made available for me to listen to and review by L.G. Davis, Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley.
Brynn is the protagonist of this tale. She's just past her mid 30's and is nearing the end of her 8 month engagement to Nathan. Nathan is an attorney. They met and became engaged in Tallahassee which is where Nathan still is at the open of the novel. Brynn's friends are ladies she met through her connection to Nathan, we don't know much about her history other than that her family is not involved in her life. Brynn has moved to their new home ahead of Nathan and their wedding to, Stoneview, the small oceanside Florida town Nathan grew up in with his wealthy family.
The novel opens on day 30 of the count down to Brynn & Nathan's wedding. Brynn's at her final wedding dress fitting with friends when she discovers that her MIL, Debbie, has come to stay with her. Debbie wasn't invited to the wedding due to a strained relationship with Nathan. However Brynn can't ask Debbie to leave because of an unnamed incident in their shared past. Just before Debbie arrived Brynn received an ominous wedding themed gift and threat about the wedding never happening. Another pov character is identified only as 'the woman'. The woman is definitely stalking Brynn with the intent of destroying the wedding but we don't know who she is or why she wants to destroy the wedding.
This is somewhat slow and requires a rather large suspension of disbelief just given Brynn's reaction and response to the creepy incidents as they happen. Brynn's thoughts don't feel organic or even reasonable. The reveals are somewhat anticipated but also extremely over the top. The action and resolution feel unnatural, unrealistic and unbelievable.
This has a decent and even interesting premise but the story is bogged down in tropes. I don't want to be unfair here, this genre, much like romance, is very much characterized by recognizable tropes. The trick is to not make the obvious tropes feel tropey. 😬 This novel fails in that slight trick of hand. All I can focus on are the tropes and it kinda makes the story feel flat and predictable.
The narrator of this audiobook is Laurence Bouvard. I found her voice annoying and probably would not choose to listen to another audiobook narrated by her. This is a reflection of my own personal preference and not a reflection on the narrator. The narration is perfectly satisfactory and performed without an issue at all.
Thank you to L.G. Davis, Bookouture Audio,, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. All opinions and viewpoints expressed in this review are my own.
Wow! For fans of Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst or Shalini Boland this book did not disappoint. Lots of twists and turns throughout and loved how it ended. Plus there will be book #2 so I can’t to see what happens next. Loved all the characters even though the mother-in-law was a piece of work! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this early release. To be published June 2024.
Really enjoyed this book and looking forward to starting the second one!
I couldn’t believe when the twists starting coming, I was literally sat reading like 😮😮😮 and the ending was wild! I read this so quickly, couldn’t read it fast enough and wanted to put the duvet over my head and read until I was done!
Really recommend, it’s a really solid 4✨ that only isn’t a 5✨ due to how amazing some of the other books I’ve read have been!
This was an entertaining audiobook with lots of terrible characters. The MC Brynn was dreadful…she was meek and overly calm while receiving threats throughout the book as her wedding date approaches. Her finance Nathan was even worse, he was absent for the most part. So flat and meh, a total flake. Dude falls in love with the change of the wind. Actually all of the characters were meh. Debbie was probably the most interesting.
This book while entertaining was way too packed with twists & turns. There was way too much going on. I was exhausted with this book by the time I was about 60% through. I felt like we kept going round and round.
So if you are able to suspend belief and want to listen to a good audiobook with Scooby Doo (unmasking) vibes you’ll wanna check this one out.
It was fun just not mindblowing. I liked it enough to listen to book #2 when it comes out. Based on the ending, this could be a good time.
The story had a really intriguing premise but was unfortunately a miss for me. I have a lot of thoughts that I’ll try to share in the most constructive way possible.
First, the writing didn’t feel descriptive, immersive, or emotional because it lacked a “show, don’t tell” approach. Brynn’s friendships aren’t demonstrated through actions or rich dialogue - we’re *told* that she and her friends are close. The conversations between Brynn and Nathan don’t flow - we’re *told* the conversations flow. They don’t show each other love or have a natural chemistry - we’re *told* they love each other through various repetitive declarations of love. This left me disconnected from everyone and everything that happened because I wasn’t able to decide on my own how I felt about anything based on the merit of the character dynamics, dialogue, or plot.
In the same way, Brynn’s descriptions of the other characters were way too much exposition, and many of the details weren’t relevant to the story - it felt like information that should have been solely for the author to understand the characters’ motivations, as opposed to including all of that background in the book.
The dialogue was flat and repetitive, the characters felt robotic, and I didn’t love the pacing. The reveal of “the woman” was also anticlimactic and honestly, none of the characters even seemed to care who it was either. There was a pretty interesting twist towards the end but the lead up wasn’t executed effectively so it just seemed really far fetched, random, rushed, and, at times, didn’t add up. The ending was also odd and no one was held accountable for their actions.
Although the story takes place in a small beach town in Florida, terms like “chemist” instead of pharmacy, “poorly” instead of sick, and the constant calling people “darling” all stuck out to me and felt very out of place. Much of the word choice and mannerisms were not reflective of North American culture.
I really wanted to love this one and it was a quick read, but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC, and I genuinely hope this feedback was helpful in some way!
This was a fast paced psychological thriller that had many twists. LG Davis is a new Author to me but I'm looking forward to reading more books from her.
The only negative I had about this book was towards the end.when parts of the story made no sense. but I still recommend
The Woman at my Wedding is a psychological thriller that will have you asking questions and pointing fingers.
It is only 30 days until Brynn and Nathan tie the knot. Brynn plans to stay at their beach front home working to coordinate the perfect wedding. Meanwhile Nathan, a high profile lawyer is out of town wrapping up his biggest case yet. They plan to meet each other again at the altar. Brynn’s life feels like it’s finally coming together. She never dreamed she would have such a beautiful life. Still, she can’t help shake the feeling that everything she has could be ripped away at any time. She fears her less than perfect past will eventually catch up to her. These ominous feelings grow stronger as peculiar things start happening. First her estranged MIL shows up at her front door insisting to help plan the wedding. Then, theres the delivery of a threatening note. As less than coincidental mishaps continue to arise it becomes very clear that someone is trying to prevent this wedding from happening.
This book is told in dual point of view from Brynn and “the woman”
This is a page turning thriller that will keep you guessing. I had my fingers pointed in every direction wondering just who “the woman was”. No one was without suspicion. Eventually an unexpected twist revealed countless secrets and left my jaw ajar.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy
This was a great popcorn thriller. The audiobook narration was concise and had me listening through in one go as it accompanied me while I packed boxes! I enjoyed the storyline and thought it was going to be quite clear cut on what was going to happen but then we hit the 75% mark and I was shocked at some of the twists that were thrown in. I am excited that there will be another book as I can't wait to read what happens next.
Ok. I hate doing this, I hate 2 star reviews, and I’d usually rather not post them, but something absolutely didn’t work here, and before I continue I’m in a very clear minority on my views about this title.
The premise was interesting from the blurb. Unfortunately I couldn’t connect with the characters at all, I couldn’t find anything about them to hold my interest me or to make me feel invested in the story.
I can’t straight out blame the narrator, but I just didn’t gel with the voice either, it felt monotone, robotic and a bit clunky, and the same sentences seemed to be used over and over again. I wonder was it a bad fit for the book, or was the writing the issue, it’s oftentimes hard to tell when you’re not enjoying the narration.
Perhaps reading a hard copy would be a better fit?
I do apologise, I hate awful reviews that seem harsh, but I appreciate the opportunity to listen to this title from Bookouture Audio and NetGalley and hope it doesn’t put others off, but equally I felt I had to review honestly.
I enjoyed this book because the “ bad guy “ could have been multiple people as we got to know several characters. The story twisted and turned, causing the reader to make several guesses of who the perpetrator might be. It definitely made you sympathize with Brynn as she was targeted throughout. I enjoyed Debbie, the epitome of a southern belle full of “bless your heart” criticisms of the soon-to-be bride. I have read over 100 thrillers this year and pride myself in guessing the culprit. And I didn’t have this one figured out! Welcome to The Woman at the Wedding where everything that could go wrong does on the way to saying I do. Thank you @NetGalley for the chance to read @L.G.Davis’s novel in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #BookoutureAudio for the book #TheWomanAtMyWedding by #LGDavis. This book is about a woman, Brynn who is planning her wedding to Nathan, a lawyer that is away on a case. Every time she turns around something is going wrong or canceled for the wedding. She has no idea who is trying to sabotage her or why? I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to start the second one.
This book had so many possible suspects and I loved the way it kept me guessing the whole time! The ending took a crazy twist I did not see coming; however it was a little chaotic and far fetched. But it definitely kept me entertained, and left me wanting to continue on to the next book!
Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for allowing me to read this ARC!
While it seemed a bit slow sometimes and I did guess who the woman was, there were twists upon twists at the end that really shocked me ! It was an enjoyable read,
Thanks to Netgalley and bookouture for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.
Brynn has recently moved to Stoneview, and despite having a rather stressful career, she is beyond thrilled that she is about to marry Nathan, a successful lawyer. Her marriage to Nathan will open a lot of doors for her, including the fact that she will have more money than she ever dreamed of.
Brynn is happy with those whom she chose to stand with her at her wedding, including Hannah, who will be her maid of honor. Brynn is also over the moon that she has befriended Eleanor, an old friend of Nathan’s, and someone she feels extremely comfortable with.
There is more than one hitch in Brynn’s wedding plans. These include the arrival of Debbie, and although she and Brynn share bad blood, Debbie acts as if everything is okay, sets her bags down and progressively makes Brynn more nervous. Debbie’s arrival is only the tip of the iceberg. Brynn receives a threatening note along with a smashed wedding cake topper. Brynn realizes that she is headed towards doom, but there is no way to stop it.
Although Brynn is the primary protagonist, there is an unnamed character, referred to as “The Woman”, and it is her dialogue that takes the reader along for the rocky ride that Brynn is on, but is powerless to stop. With a few twists thrown in, this first book in the Broken Vows series by L. G. Davis was a thoroughly engaging read, and led me right to the second thrilling book, The Missing Bridesmaid.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
I could not put this book down! I was turning pages as fast as I could, completely lost in the story. There was so much going on, and so many relationships to be wary of. I was right on some of my guesses, but so much I never saw coming. The ending was a huge cluster f*ck and I loved every minute of the wild wedding scene. I really liked how we got a proper ending and closing scenes with the characters. I can’t wait to dive right into the next book of the series.
Super quick read. Predictable and repetitive in spots but a page turner with a satisfyingly twisty ending. Getting ready to read the next in the series now.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed are strictly my own .
Brynn is engaged to Nathan who’s an attorney. While he’s away defending a high profile murder case the mother in law, Debbie, shows up uninvited to ‘help’ Brynn with the wedding. We find out later that Debbie has a strained relationship with her son and wasn’t invited to the wedding. Brynn starts receiving creepy threats and slowly realizes someone is out to sabotage this wedding. Could it be the mother in law? She wouldn’t be the first! 🤣
I found the story far fetched and the characters hard to connect to. Hard to say if it was the narration. The voice was very robotic. I also found it was very repetitive in spots. Overall, the premise had promise but unfortunately was not for me.
Thank you to Bookouture audio and NetGalley who provided me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It's been awhile since I've read an LG Davis thriller and once again she does not disappoint. Fast becoming one of my favourite authors, Liz throws red herrings and misdirection our way to steer us off the path. And yet while there are plenty of smoke and mirrors, I honed in on who I thought was "the woman" from the very start. Considering I've been in a reading slump for a couple of months, this was like a breath of fresh air and a welcome change to the monotony of others I've found of late.
Fans of Daniel Hurst, Shalini Boland, KL Slater and Freida McFadden will delight in this domestic tale of bliss to woe with plenty of twists, lies, secrets and deception to keep readers entertained.
Brynn is approaching forty and has finally met the man of her dreams, thirty nine year old attorney Nathan. The pair met, fell in love and Nathan bought Brynn a stunning beachside house where she now lives in the weeks leading up to their wedding. Meanwhile, Nathan is away working on a trial that could make him an even bigger household name. That of Amanda Lane, a woman accused of murdering all three of her wealthy husbands.
While he works right up to the wedding, Brynn remains at home organising their wedding...but someone doesn't want their nuptials to go ahead. Brynn begins receiving strange messages in the form of a wedding cake topper in which the bride's face is smashed. Her wedding veil goes missing and is later found buried on the beach. Then her dream wedding venue is cancelled. The photographer backs out. Her custom made shoes from Italy are ruined with red paint. Who would do such a thing? Who hates her that much to ruin her wedding?
And then a face from Brynn's past arrives on the doorstep, dragging her fully packed suitcase behind her insisting she's there to help with the wedding preparations. But why is she really here?
When the wedding day finally arrives, you won't see what's coming and the author deftly derives a devious plot that's so cunning and deceptive that will leave your head spinning.
As is Liz Davis' style, the pace moves from steady to fast to frantic as the climax nears, with that final twist to spin everything of its axis. I was turning the pages at the speed of light to see what happened next. As with most of her books, I thoroughly enjoyed this one and can't wait to dive into the second book "The Missing Bridesmaid" which can only be read after this one as the plot to this one ends of something of a cliffhanger that can only be resolved in the next.
Off to read it now...
I would like to thank #LGDavis, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheWomanAtMyWedding in exchange for an honest review.
My 4th book by L.G Davis and she never disappoints, absolutely brilliant and another extremely well deserved 5 star rating!
Brynn is preparing to marry the love of her life, Nathan, in just a months’ time after a whirlwind romance. The only issue is Nathan’s mother and Brynn’s soon to be mother in law, Debbie, who Nathan hates after an awful childhood he had with her. When Debbie suddenly appears on Brynn’s doorstep, she is powerless to decline her insistence on staying to help with the upcoming wedding as both women have something on each other and therefore both have to keep each other sweet to avoid their respective secrets coming out into the open. With Nathan away working hard as a lawyer on a very important and widely publicised case of an infamous woman who is accused of several murders, Brynn feels she can’t tell him about Debbie staying as it would upset him and perhaps take his mind off a very important case for his career and so Brynn reluctantly allows to Debbie to stay and doesn’t tell Nathan. But then nasty things begin to happen; a wedding cake topper delivered with the brides’ face smashed in, a threatening note, Hannah, Brynn’s maid of honour getting food poisoning after a wedding cake tasting and the wedding venue being cancelled with no chance to rebook. Since meeting Nathan, Brynn has become great friends with Hannah and Elena, who have been good friends with Nathan since childhood. Brynn confides in them about the horrible things that keep happening. But who can Brynn trust, with it becoming very obvious that someone is absolutely determined to stop the wedding at all costs and make sure that Brynn never walks down that aisle.
Well, what a fascinating and addictive story that I just couldn’t put down! I absolutely loved the intriguing titbit chapters from “The Woman” and my head was spinning trying to figure out who she really was. I sort of guessed around the halfway mark but still wasn’t 100% certain and I found myself referring back to incidents and chapters that I had already read to see if I could prove my theory, but I still wasn’t sure, which was great! I really didn’t like passive aggressive Debbie, and I was extremely curious about who Sam was, but couldn’t work out who they were until I was actually told. The end twists were nothing short of magnificent and I was sitting up reading with my mouth agape at 1am in the morning!
Nothing less than a very deserving 5 stars for this read. I absolutely loved every minute of reading it and I can’t wait to read the sequel and see what happens next. I highly recommend this one for any psychological thriller fans, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you to NetGalley, L.G Davis and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
I have been wanting to try a book by L.G. Davis for a long time, so I was excited to listen to this one. Well I'm definitely a fan! This book is told from dual POVs - alternating between Brynn, who is counting down the days until her wedding, and "The Woman", the person who is out to ruin her wedding and wants Brynn's fiancé for herself.
This book was fast paced and I flew through it in just a few hours. This was a great popcorn thriller that packed a punch. The timeline is told starting 30 days out from Brynn's wedding to Nathan, and as we get closer to the big day, things get more and more crazy. There were so many twists and turns! There were secrets galore, and I had no idea who to trust! I doubted everyone. This story was so unpredictable and such a wild ride! I definitely recommend!
The narrator, Laurence Bouvard, did a good job, but I found her voice slightly annoying. I pushed through it in the beginning until I got used to it. It didn't take away from me thoroughly enjoying the book.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks a lot to @netgalley @bookouture, @bookouture.audio and LG Davis for my gifted advanced copy!
Woah. I LOVED this book! It kept me guessing and boy, was I completely wrong! Had me glued from the very first sentence! Definitely heart-pounding! I can’t wait for part 2, The Missing Bridesmaid! Adding this to my top reads of the year! I LOVE this author!
Brynn and Nathan fell in love at first sight and are about to get married and live happily ever after, or so they thought.
Someone is out to destroy and sabotage their happy union. Sending threatening notes, cancelling wedding venues, making Brynn sick. Who can it be??
So many possible suspects but, I promise you, you will not guess who it is!
So many SHOCKING moments! I could not believe Brynn’s past! The ending made me soooo mad, but in a good way!
If you love Frieda McFadden and Sally Hepworth, this one is for you!
First, I want to thank LG Davis, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
Oh Snap!! Another psychological thriller thanking my lucky stars I’m and nowhere near ready to get married!!! LG Davis’s latest The Woman At My Wedding is incredibly twisted and will have your head spinning at the end of it. Oh and if you like this one just wait she has a follow up sequel to it as well. It is fast paced and an addictive read.
After the prologue each chapter will have you counting down the days to the big wedding. There are a lot of ups and downs and twists and turns trying to get to the alter. Not to mention some dark hidden secrets that are shockers when they come to light.
If you are looking for a book that has an unpredictable ending then this is it! Plus, if you liked this book she came out with a sequel to it as well. She gives us a little sneak peak of that in this book as well.
With only 30 days until the wedding of her dreams, we meet Brynn, who seems to be planning this big wedding all by herself as the love of her life, Nathan, is a lawyer on a high profile murder trial.
Within pages we get our first hint that all is not as it seems, and this continues on regularly throughout. Brynn, who spends most of this book looking over her shoulder, feels like her perfect life could be ripped away at any second, but why?
Told in dual POV by Brynn and "the woman", this thriller kept me hooked to find out the ending - none of which I managed to guess! - and better yet, it seems there is a 2nd book coming!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
