If you British detective fiction and fun cozy mysteries that keep you guessing, you’ll fall in love with this series!
This is a cross between cozy mysteries and crime thrillers . I can't say they fit firmly in either category. The police inspector and the journalist seem to be more at odds than working in tandem -Both are likeable characters -though inspector McCord has a much more irascible Scottish nature than our heroine Amy Thornton -whose lineage is not yet clearly defined. The mysteries are well done -though at times- I wanted to fast forward to the end, so-in my mind they dragged on a tad, and I was wandering. Still -a very good start to a series - .
I have followed this series from the outset and not been disappointed by any of the five novels. This boxed set of the first three novels allows me to bring this author to the attention of others who are avid readers and fans of this type of cosy crime fiction. I just know they will love the writing, the characters and the plots.
A fair read and interesting twists. You have to suspend your belief a bit with the idea of a journalist being allowed so much access and being so demanding. However this does move one strand of the plot leading to resolution of the relationship of the main characters. I read all 7 in the series and it was worth the read
From the first book to the third I did not want to put them down. Graceful twist and turns of the story line kept me wanting more. Characters are well defined and work well together
I enjoyed the books well enough, but they didn't have the cozy mystery feel to me. I also felt the read drug out longer than necessary in 2 & 3rd book I would read more by this author
The last book was Last Train for Murder is IMO the best of the three. There were so many suspects you felt it could be but the person who it turned out to be suppressed me at the end. I think I will be reading the next two in the series
