Shane I spend hours perfecting my desserts and then presenting them to the public in my restaurants. I work hard, giving every moment to perfecting and honing my skills. The last thing I need is a woman in my life, complicating things. But I do desperately need a manager who can organise the chaos that is my daily life.

But then I'm hard working and quick to learn and I'm exactly what Shane needs for his thriving restaurants, and maybe even Shane himself.
This is a steamy short story with a HEA with no cheating and no cliffhangers. Shane can be read as a standalone, or part of the Inner City Alpha's series.
Nell Alexander writes swoony, feel-good romances with just the right amount of spice and sparkle. She's the kind of author who laughs at her own jokes, cries at Christmas adverts, and firmly believes that a cozy blanket and a cream bun can solve almost anything. When she's not busy dreaming up fictional small towns and swoon-worthy heroes, Nell’s probably dancing in the kitchen, binge-watching old romcoms, or reorganizing her bookshelves for the millionth time. Fun, flirty, and always up for a good meet-cute—Nell’s stories are your next happy place.

Shane Glinton is a top dessert chef running two successful restaurants with celebrity clientele and great press coverage. Jessica Fox is there for an interview for a manager position. She figured he would not remember her, but she is the sister of his best friend, Nathan. She has completed her business management course 3 years ago and worked in a trainee-manager position at another restaurant. But Shane doesn’t think that’s enough to prepare her for his restaurant which is much larger, very successful, and fully booked for the foreseeable future. One of his waitresses, Phoebe, also wants the position, but no one can stand working with her, so she wouldn’t be a good fit. With no other options, he calls Jessica back and asks if she can start a trial period to see if she can do the job.
When Shane’s partner, Raife, comes in to congratulate Jessica on the job, Shane sees them hug and talk about Nathan and he realizes who she is finally. She had been skin and bones when he last saw her, in the hospital with anorexia. When Raife left, Shane and Jessica got carried away in the newly organized office. Jessica was finished her work and returned home. But a surprise visitor met with Shane. Geoff Hutchings, Jessica’s pervert boss who had threatened to blacklist her if she told anyone about his actions in harassing her, told Shane that she came on to him. He also said she is known to sleep her way to the top. And then he mentioned that he would like the manager job for himself! In anger that Jessica had just slept with him, he went over to her apartment, asking her to deny the accusations. When she calmly stated that she should not have to do that, he said this wouldn’t work, and he left. So she pulled the want ads out of the recycler and looked for a new job.
When Shane comes to his senses, will he realize the truth? Does he want her back? Or has he hurt her too much already?
Jessica used to have a crush on her brother's friend Shane. Who knew that years later she'd get a job managing Shane's restaurant? No big deal that he doesn't recognize her, right? Shane knows there's something familiar about the beautiful Jessica. He likes her but there are a few people determined to interfere with Jessica's success. When Shane assumes the worst will she forgive him? I like this short, insta-attraction romance! It has multi-layered characters, some intrigue, sizzling chemistry, a few villains, supportive family & friends and a likable main couple. "Shane" is an entertaining read featuring a smart, curvy girl and the man that needs her! Looking forward to her brother, Nathan's, story!

Another entertaining read in this series. This is the story of Shane and Jessica and their journey to their happily ever after. The characters fit well together and have a great connection. I enjoyed this book.
I really liked this quick read. Both had to get passed their past problems to realize that they were meant to be together. When they did it was just hot.

A cute short story with an alpha male where the heroine never disagrees with him. She let's him believe whatever he wants, then he has to come back later to apologize. Fabulous romance.

After loving the first book, this one’s a bit of a disappointment. Shane’s kind of an arsehole, and treats Jessica like shit and then never apologises or grovels for it. And she just… lets him. Boooooo.
